Now closed, landlord has seized the premises

Closed down on 30th July - turned up for a birthday party on 2nd (booked a week ago) to find a bailiff’s notice on the door. Didn’t warn us!

Portion is too small. It's not worth of money.

Had a late lunch with family today 29/6/24. I ordered satay, tom yum, deep fried baby squid, prawn fried rice, khow ka moo, and sweet and sour chicken. We are enjoying our food coz it was delicious until I saw a small fly in the tom yum. I informed the owner (?), a middle aged man and showed the fly. He just took the spoon with the fly and went. He didn’t even apologized. I paid the bill and still expecting apologize but not happened. This is our 4th time in that place because of our previous good experience. Disappointing. Disgusting.

While I was in London on a business trip, I missed the taste of Asia, so I had dinner here. I was about to decide on a strategy to have CHICKEN SATAY, have beer, and PAD THAI as the main dish, but I was strangely attracted to PAD KEE MOW with the chili pepper symbol, so I suddenly changed my mind. First of all, SATAY. The peanut-based sauce is sweet and delicious. It's the perfect accompaniment to beer. For the main PAD KEE MOW, I chose shrimp. The noodles are about the same size as kishimen. (The menu clearly says FLAT NOODLE...) This might go better with chili peppers. The flavor is sweet and spicy based on the fish sauce, and the chopped fresh chili peppers give it just the right amount of spiciness to increase your appetite. It may not be the taste of Thailand, but it was satisfying and delicious.

Felt ill after eating here. Looked this place up afterwards and their food hygiene rating is 0 out of 5. Yes, you read correctly. I'm surprised this place is still allowed to trade.

The staff are lovely and friendly. The atmosphere inside the shop is very good. The food turns out to be sweet. People who like sweet things will probably like it. Yen Ta Fo noodles are a bit hard and the noodles are stuck together. Stir-fried soy sauce is also sweet. Overall, it's considered delicious and can be cured.

I would be very wary of this place. It was shut down recently due to a mouse infestation. It was declared by a notice on the front door when it was closed , although the owner was trying to wave people away from inside to try to stop them reading it! It's back open now with the same management, but I wouldn't go back!

I've been coming here for over 10 years and I'm sad to say last night will be the last time. Although the service was good and friendly, and the green and red curries were tasty, we unfortunately had an issue where we found a hair in one of the dishes (the broccoli). We sent it back but were told it was from a beansprout. It came back and was the same dish, with the same hair in it (I picked it off the dish and it was indisputably a hair!) They didn't charge us for the dish which we appreciated, and all would have been ok, these things happen, however unfortunately we have both very dodgy stomachs today which coincides with the meal last night (the only food that we both had the same of yesterday). Unfortunate as this was a once great local Thai that has sadly dropped in quality.

Tried green Thai Curry with chicken and vegetable spring rolls. The curry could have done with more vegetables and the spring rolls did not have much fillings, mainly just pastry The place smelted a bit damp.

The environment and the food are so bad

Never order this silly Chefs special. Small cup of rice, spoon of sauce with watery soup is chef's special which costs 12.5 pounds. Horrible for the price. Never order this food. Informed the staff in turn owner. They said, it's traditional. It was a terrible joke. That made it more funny. For this 12.5 is super expensive. Never order. Other food that we ordered was tasty and worth the money. Noodle soup duck is worth the money Fried rice prawn Suki yaki was all good. Waitress was very kind and good customer service.

This place is lovely. Really tasty curries that are thick and have a nice coconut flavour. I got the Thai green and the massaman curry which was very flavourful and big portions. Thai green curry has a nice kick to it. The pad Thai is also very tasty.

Tom Yum soup water nothing more to say . Asked for Thai spicy got UK spicy bland and not worth the visit . Poor Thai was expecting more especially if I ask for Thai spicy it should register I know Thai food this is poor for the price

Extremely delicious food and warm, friendly staff.

Felt rushed with the order, hardly the restaurant is busy, yet all the starter, soup and main course were served at the same time. Penang curry was not that impressive. Was bit watery. Chicken was not cooked to long in the curry, leaving boild tase for the chicken. Soup was good.

1st visit here, recommended by a friend. Great place to catch up with others, you can actually hear yourself talk. The only thing I felt was everything was rush, rush to take your order, the food came out extremely quickly and wasnt piping hot. Rush to give you the bill, I just felt that they wanted us out as soon as we got there at 8pm.

Just ordered online, paid 16£ for a salad. Picture attached for how much they send. I spend this much thinking it will be big portion, i have had more than this when i paid 7.50. Disguisting.

Come here regularly for a green curry. The menu caters for all tastes. Always consistently delicious, and good value. Nice friendly, efficient staff

Not really spectacular Thai food but not bad!

The Pad Thai was very sweet and orange compared to my friend's, exactly the same order. The chicken was tough and chewy. There were flies in the table. The owner was very rude, when we complained politely. Note also, the government hygiene rating at present is 3, I do not normally eat unless the hygiene ratng is 5 and should have taken note...

Used to love this place I have been coming for 10 years they have changed the chef doesn't taste as good the noodles all taste fishy and the levels of salt is out of control. Bring back the old staff and the cook ! .The pud si Lew used to be delicious I don't know what they have done if you want fishy salty noodles come here

Consistent in every way. No wow factor, but meals nice and service is OK.

Very tastfull and very fresh food! We'd eaten here several times, ever really fresh and tastfull. As well the service: very kindly! Can recommand it! We'll come again soon.

I’ve been a long time customer of Thai Canteen. Today, I was extremely disappointed. I brought some new people to the restaurant to show them how good it was. The service was terrible, my food didn’t arrive, but my rice did. I did not eat anything yet they charged me for the rice and the curry I ordered and made sure to include service charge for non-existent service. The staff working there are not capable and things have changed. I won’t be visiting them again. Plenty of better Thai restaurants in Ealing.

I ordered the Hainanese Chicken rice, the chicken was really awfully tasted and hard to chew. It was over cooked and not supposed to be chewy like this. There’s No chicken skin and the chicken was dry. And it stated as Chef recommended dishes. Hmmmmm I doubt that if the chef knows what’s real Hainanese chicken rice.

Was a great experience. Atmosphere was very nice and decent food proportions. Service was great.

It is not authentic Thailand cuisine taste . We ordered Tomyum soup that is terrible one . How can you make tomyum soup without tomyum paste ? You made with only water and lime juice taste. Chicken in Pakaphoung is really big and not delicious one . Papaya salad is not bad .

Really fantastic, authentic food. We ate at 4pm and think it was still the lunch menu. Everything was £12 with rice.

The best Thai restaurant I've been to in London. The chef here is without a doubt one of the best, and highly recommended. Aromatic well-spiced food. Family-friendly, nice staff, chill atmosphere, very quick service.

Came across this restaurant and the food did not disappoint. The food was delicious, fresh and authentic. I usually never get any soup but their Tom Yum soup (shrimp) was amazing. I’d recommend to get the spicy beef, its so good with rice. Would definitely go here again 😍

NO VALUE FOR MONEY. Not much quantity of chicken or prawns in curries or other dishes. We literally got 2/3 prawns and 2/3 pieces of chicken in a bowl. Portion is rice was small too and to top it up service was awful with a compulsory service charge included in the bill to pay. DON’T GO!

They charge extra and give you not much chicken or any meat in the meals. It’s just filled with veggies and the rice is a very small portion. They also put a service charge on top of the food bill. It’s not good value for your money. Might as well go to another restaurant and enjoy a proper portion of a meal. Not worth it at all.

Food was great. Staff rushing us near the end instead of telling us when they closed could've been improved.

Food was excellent even though vegetarian options are limited. However for dine in, I found the restaurant too cold on the day we visited. They need to turn the heating on!

Horrible Tom yum soup-it tasted like hot lemon water. Then ordered the green curry and it was very average with chewy chicken. Had a weird taste to it-more like a South Indian coconut curry. Steamed rice was pre-cooked and tasted more like sticky rice. I even told the waiter how bad the food was but all he said was sorry. Not recommended at all

Really nice food, it came quickly and the service was really good. The staff are polite and the restaurant is spacious and clean. The portion sizes are big and very much worth the price. I’d definitely come here again!

Food was delicious and service was fast. The restaurant was a bit empty but it was a Monday night so probably expected!

I couldn’t eat all of it, however I’m a big fan with noddles which was really strange lol, the dish was okay though.

Would definitely recommend ordering one of the curries - the sauce is sumptuous, thick and flavourful, not watered down at all. I had the street food noodle soup dish (yen-ta-fore), which I enjoyed but probably wouldn't reorder.

Tip top food at this lovely sized gem. The place runs back deep & the seating is very comfortable & nicely spaced. The friendly staff were attentive without being intrusive. We had chicken satay prawn toast & seafood cakes. I’m not a lover of seafood cakes but these were good. The satay works well Withe sauce but the prawn toast were fabulous. Mains www glass noodle with king prawn 9/10 chicken with chilli & rice 8/10 a little hot for me & thai omelette which was outstanding & another 9/10. Accompanied by an excellent South African merlot which initially was a little warm but soon dropped to the right temperature. Highly recommended 👍

Nice quiet place. I had the lunch special Yen Ta Fo (pink noodle soup with fish ball/seafood), which came with a beer or soft drink. Tasty and reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly too.

We have eaten here four times in the last few months. Soft music, very polite service and excellent dishes. The tamarind duck is to die for. Reasonable prices if you opt for the very decent French house white. Will be back soon.

Staff is client friendly and focused, you get fast service and the food is very good,every is made on spot and not reheated in a microwave. If you can't eat a spicy dish they can do it for the client taste. I totally recommend it ,is nice cosy restaurant not a Canteen at all.

4 pf us went for dinner in dec. Mains were good but please avoid soups. Tom kha and the mains noodles with soup were both horrible. We sent one back and the staff tried getting us to pay for it but we only had one sip to know it wasn't right. Rest of the food was alright no issues

My wife and I found this place purely by chance. As you walk by it seems so inviting so we gave it a try and are really pleased that we did. The staff are so friendly, helpful and efficient. The food is very tasty, portion sizes are generous and very good value for money. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed and the restaurant is well laid out and clean. We will definitely be going back to eat again.

Not in love with this place, but still a better option than most of the chain restaurants that have taken over Ealing Broadway. Vegetable red curry is tasty but too much sauce and not enough veggies. Service left a bit to be desired. Waiter was a bit curt, forgot my starter and brought the wrong drinks.

I went to this place for lunch. I walked in with my daughter. I politely gave our choices when asked and when the food arrived the £9 bowl of soup I noted was considerably smaller than the adjacent table that had ordered the same. I tried to eat it but here is what I was actually given. - (see pic) Now Thai is one of my fave dishes and having eaten at another Thai establishment in previous weeks in Ealing I can only say not only was this place a rip- off the food served up was bland., tasteless and a pathetic attempt at what I considered decent Thai food. A small bowl filled with water, soy sauce 6 large prawns chopped coriander a few sprigs of bean-spouts and chopped spring onion. £15. The bowl was small and dirty when I told the waitress she bought the guy over and both laughed continued chatting in their language, with no apologies. I decided it was time to ask for the check. It was lunch time and the place was pretty much empty. This bad service and over priced fare explained why.

Expensive for what it is and overcharged me

Update I am here now. Just ate my fried rice with pork and prawn. Quite nice. So is the green tea. The service is still excellent. So is the ambience. Wonderful. --------------------------- I ate here many years ago and did not go back until now because the padthai i had was way too salty. But last night chilli oil fried rice with beef was just wonderful. Good size portion, moist and not too spicy. A few more slices of cucumber would have added a bit more balance to the dish. The Thai fish cake was good too, although the size of each fish cake was smaller than those served in Thai restaurants in Asia. Service was excellent. So was the ambience. I will patronise this restaurant often from now here.

I love the food, it was so tasty and jucy. Good portion and swift service. Our server, Leila even showed me how to use the chopsticks! Loved it.

This place had the worst service (management wise - the waiters were great) I have ever come across. We ordered a few things off the menu including some dishes with a side of rice. My cashew chicken came with a piece of aluminum foil inside, after letting one of the servers know they changed it straight away. After a good amount of time - after receiving the replacement dish - we got the broccoli we ordered. It came undercooked and extremely bitter. We let the server know we didn’t like it, and after speaking to the manager he said the manager wouldn’t allow him to take it off the bill. We explained that “didn’t like it” was putting it nicely and that the dish was bad, and after another chat with the manager he offered to take off the service charge instead. As a former waitress I was appalled that this restaurant would rather take away their server’s tips than admitting their dish came out bad. More appalling was that this broccoli cost us £10 and I could have made it better myself at home. Of course once we got the bill they hadn’t taken off the rice that came with the cashew chicken. Oh well, at least the pad thai was okay.

Highly recommend! Only ever been to once but I enjoyed the food itself, the place and the staff were friendly! The food was also delivered timely. I know the rating is a bit low but I think they've changed management so the recent reviews are good. Definitely will be back for more!

I'm usually wary of chain restaurants, and this place surely looks like one and that's not necessarily a bad thing but a lot of the time eating at chain restaurants can be a disappointing experience. This was not one such experience. The food was in keeping with traditional Thai food - full of flavour and light and healthy. The Green curry was of a very good standard and so was everything else. We had the Pad Thai and the calamari. Excellent food and great service. I don't think this place is a chain restaurant and all the Thai aunties and uncles working inside were proof of that.

Incredibly friendly staff, they explained the meal we were ordering and asked to make sure we were okay with it! We were also provided with the recipe to make thai iced tea, which was very nice of them considering they didn't have to do this. The food was exceptional, we were not expecting it to be any different from other thai restaurants but it wowed us! Tasted authentic, had amazing presentation and was just all-round enticing/tasty. Would absolutely come back 10/10 😍

Such a good place!! I never even thought of trying it, the food tastes actually authentic and so good! The dishes were all great and we tried multiple when we went, the staff are so sweet and were so considerate, they came up to us and mentioned what some of our order would taste like in case we were unsure about liking it, they were very thoughtful to us throughout the whole time there. The Thai Ice Tea is totally worth trying by the way!! It was all really lovely and we will definitely be coming back again- Thank you!

Popped in for a quick lunch and we weren't disappointed. Had a lovely pad kemao and a bottle of Thai beer. The service was great, the girls v friendly and efficient. The restaurant was quite busy. Had a lovely time and will return!

We went for lunch here on Saturday. I ordered spicy beef. It was amazing. Loved it. Spicy so not for people who can’t handle spicy food. My wife ordered green curry and I tried a bit and it was delicious. Friendly great service

Omg, we didn’t want to try last time as we looked inside and doesn’t feel tempting… this time we gave it a try and order takeaway and was blown away!!!!!! Food was sooooo good and the staff there they all speak Thai…. I had the fried baby squid and it was excellent with light batter and a lovely wasabi/mustard Mayo, that’s a surprise. The Tom Kha was okay but the pork knuckle rice!!!! The best I have ever had!!!!!! It was sooooooo good! Even my kids was asking for more and more! Will eat again today at lunch! And at dinner 😂 Gonna try their curry dish, chicken rice and soup noodle dish. Can’t wait 🤤 They accidentally took the wrong order with 2 pork rice instead of 1, but it was okay as my kids loved it too and we finished everything in no time.

Efficient staff and tasty food. Good flavours and portions. We came here by chance as we were walking by and got attracted to the venue. Not too busy but we got seated straight away and the waiter was very attentive to our needs explaining g the dishes as they were put in front of us.

Amazing place with amazing staff. Food is always on point and portions are generous. Phae and rest of staff is always on point making sure that we had what we needed. Polite and attentive service. I keep coming back to this place regularly. highly recommend to anyone.

Gluten free catered for! I'm finding it increasingly difficult to find restaurants that cater for coeliacs. Stayed in Ealing for a few days. The Thai Canteen we visited twice because they understood. The food tasted amazing with fresh ingredients. Served by warm welcoming staff. We will visit again when we're in the area. THANK YOU PAE AND DAZ!

Great food with decent portion size. I visited twice and staffs were friendly and talkative. Also, it has nixe and clean atmosphere.

I love Thai food and i have traveled in thailand more than 10 times. My thai friend brought me to street food market often. I was so excited to find thai street food in local but it was not that good. Soup was too plain. It seems chef put sweet and chill sauce in the warm water and rice noodle was smelly. Fried noodle was too salty. It was a bit disappointed.

Amazingly friendly people, delicious food.. definetely deserves 5 stars
