Only in London for a few days and so lucky to have found this place. We entered around eleven pm and were seated swiftly to our table. I had a absolutely brilliant margarita pizza and i cant remember what my grandparents had but i know they loved it to. The service was brilliant particularly this one man, cant remember his name but i had to shake his hand before we left because he was that amazing. He was really superb at his job. When i finished my glass of coke he noticed and poured the rest from the bottle into it. That is attention to detail. Probably wont be returning to London any time soon but if i do Im coming back!!!!!!

Slightly tucked away, this restaurant warrants 'OK' only. The tables are a bit packed together which isn't a big problem. Service I also OK, but doesn't warrant the 12.5% charge that's automatically added.Food was fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. We had bruschetta and pizza which were both of an average standard.Price was pretty good, but watch the wine prices. We ended up paying £28 for a pretty average bottle of Pinot Grigio - our fault as we didn't check the price before ordering, but it was way out of kilter with the rest of the costs.I probably wouldn't go back given the plethora of other options.

The three of us had dinner here after going to the theater and we enjoyed it very much. It is a small restaurant worth trying located next to Shaffestbury Ave. The staff are very kind and professional. They provide an excellent service : present when needed to be and not "pushy". As for the food, we had some exquisite fresh home made pasta and some deserts... OMG my mouth is still watering ! After dinner and after a small chat with the boss/manager we even received a complimentary glass of limoncello.I only regret that our wine by the glass was not cool enough and served at room temperature and that the jazzy music was playing a little too loud

Visited this restaurant before going to a nearby theatre. We explained to the waitress that we were going to the theatre and she said that would not be a problem and we had plenty of time to eat our meal. The meal took a long time to arrive, (after we had chased them up), and we had to eat very quickly. The waitress then blames us for ordering the wrong type of food!!! The food was also not very good. All and all it was a very disappointing visit.

We were looking for a pre-theatre dinner place where we could use our Tastecard and found this place. Although we were a bit hesitant at first since it is situated at the beginning of Chinatown we were pleasantly surprised. The food was good; as starters we had the burrata with asparagus and sundried tomatoes which made for a surprisingly nice combination, the fried squid and prawns were okay, but the batter could have been a bit more flavourfull. As a main we had a pizza with bresola, which was amazing, it really does make a big difference that it was made in a wood-fired oven. The second main was a pasta (there are very limited options of pastas, but many risottos, the starter portion at the next table looked very big) which was nice, but not what I would go back for.Ther service was a bit inconsistent, but good for London. The total would have been £67 for two starter, two mains, a bottle of wine and a bottle of water, with the Tastecard it came to £50.

Where to start?...On arrival, this seemed like a great little find. We were seated upstairs, seemed cosy and authentic. However, service was slow, and rude. The waitor was overly flirtatious (with my boyfriend, not me). Ordered one pizza, one calzone. We waited over 45 minutes and were then told that our order hadn't been seen by the chef. When the food came, it was nice. But there was no apology for the lateness of our food, and only after asking, was the 12.5 service charge (?!!!!) taken off our bill. To top it all off, upon leaving, I was completely ignored by said waitor as he wished my boyfriend a good night. We will not be returning. Shoddy service and a rubbish meal.

Excellent menu at reasonable price. Although a bit sceptical, I ordered burrata as starter which left me impressed. For 6 pounds only, you can actually have an authentic Burrata cheese. Pasta with claims and pizza porcini to follow, well if you are looking for a real pizza, here you are! The best I have eaten in a long time. I would have given 5 stars to my review, but unfortunately pasta wasn't as great as we were expecting. Service was ok, professional and attentive, BUT unfriendly and quite cold. I stumbled on this restaurant by accident as it doesn't look much from the outside but the food and service more than compensate. I ordered the Parma ham and mozzarella to start and it was a very generous portion with the freshest mozzarella ever. I had chargrilled prawns for mains and ordered grilled vegetables as a side not that it was needed as there were 12 huge king prawns on a bed of rocket beautifully cooked. The staff were so attentive and kept replacing the plate full of prawn shells with a clean one. The best thing of all is that if you eat between 12 - 4 you pay half price for food and drinks. Two positives: the waiter who unfortunately wasn't ours but was smiley and helpful in the absence of our own and the wood fire pizza oven.Other than that I was put off by the waiter who seemed to want to get rid of us before we had even ordered our drinks and seemed tos mile through gritted teeth every minute of the first five minutes when he constantly asked for our order, we decided on the spaghetti Bolognese and pizzas. The spaghetti arrived first and were it not for the fact it took less time than a microwave meal could reheated in to appear, I would have concluded it was indeed a microwave meal and a cheap one a t that, the sauce consisted of meat and tomato with no other discernable ingredients and tasted as if it had come from a tin. Thankfully the pizzas were better but would have been improved if they had toppings actually covering most of the base.It was my misfortune to visit the toilet which didn't seem particularly clean. For the money there are much better places locally!

We wandered into this little place - like many others - on the hunt for a quick, easy and (preferrably) cheap meal before seeing a show. We found it under a tastecard offer, and decided to give it a go when Pizza Express was full-to-capacity. The initial waiter was friendly and welcoming, but our waitress (as mentioned in other reviews) was pretty useless. It's difficult to comment on this without sounding like an aggressive Daily Mail reader, but her English was terrible, which led to a complete breakdown in service. She was unable to answer any questions (like recommendations, what wine was good etc.) and we were left watching her chat to other staff while we were in a hurry to order. We asked for the bill when the pizza arrived so we could pay and go quickly to get to the theatre. It came over without the tastecard discount, and when we tried to explain everything went wrong - it's not really her fault, she just couldn't understand us, but she wanted me to go downstairs, halfway through eating my main course and explain it all to the manager as she was unable to understand/explain. I felt embarrassed and awkward and really didn't want to leave my pizza to get cold whilst sorting this out. After this, she pretty much ignored us, so we still had to go and sort the bill ourselves, and didn't gain any time benefit from requesting the bill upfront. The food itself was fine, great olives and a tasty (if somewhat wet!) pizza and the wine menu was impressive, though fairly expensive. I think, in all fairness, we were probably just a little unlucky, but there are better places out there for the price.

I ordered calzone. (ham and ricotta) - the bulk of it was made up with think dough.. mostly burnt at the edges. and I mean burnt… not sure how the chef let it out of the kitchen to be honest. once I'd hacked off the cinders and gotten past the think dough the filling was OK.. not great, just fine.my girlfriend had a pizza… (I forget the type, but she asked for pancetta too). The only way I could describe it was.. wet?! not particularly greasy or oozing olive oil, but more like the the dough (bar the crust) had been dipped in a sink of water… not very pleasant.Ordered 2 large glasses of white wine (again, I forget the grape). The waitress took our glasses and poured out of sight so we've no idea if we got what we ordered/paid for. The maitre d' (/person who first saw us) was very polite and warm but the waitress was quite rude… possibly as she seemed to struggle with english. We were sat upstairs where it was far too warm for comfort. (though it was quite hot outside, but where's the zircon?)cheap enough… (£15 each total) but wouldn't recommend it.Pizza Express is close and is much nicer… (and is on tastecard)

Got pulled into this one by the man at the door (should have been a warning sign), oh well what the heck go for it, the wife ordered a pasta Raviolini al Funghi, this consisted of three pockets of filled pasta on a plate, just big enough for a starter let alone a main course, not happy! I ordered a Panecuolo Pizza, the wettest pizza I have ever tasted swimming in something with "hunt the ingredients" topping, yes again not much of a portion. My eyes glanced at the blackboard only to be informed that many "stars" had eaten there before, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Redford, Richard Burton to name but a few but I suspect this was when it was something else and many proprieters since.Should have gone to Pizza Express.

Date of visit: 23rd May 2013 (Thursday) Dinner serviceWent into this restaurant on the hunt for some dinner. My boyfriend, who's birthday we were celebrating, is a pizza lover in a big way, so we were looking for an italian restaurant near to the Apollo theatre (having just been in there). The one I'd previously researched on Trip Advisor we couldn't find, so we had a bit of a wander around, and stumbled upon this place. It was quiet, but we were early for dinner service (about 5:30) so that was to be expected. The service was great, greeted at the door and seated quickly, even if i was sitting in the main isle (small restaurant, can't be helped). It took a while for our drinks order to be taken, which was suprising considering how quiet it was, but that would have been overcome had the food been better. The food was, frankly, awful. I had a seafood tagliatelle, which was passable, despite being served 5 closed mussels; makes you worry about what you've already eaten! My birthday-boy pizza lover boyfriend was served the worst pizza I've ever seen. It looked like it had been deep fried, and after dabbing it with the napkin, holding it up to allow the oil to run off, and making 'sink holes' in the raw base, he decided he couldn't go through with it and he left hungry. I should have bought him a pizza from a local kebab shop; it would have been less oily. Not cheap either; two mains, a beer and a small glass of wine came to £45. The 12.5% service charge probably helped bump it up a bit; if I'd have noticed it on the bill before I'd paid it, I would have refused to do so.

Not cheap; two courses with one beer and a bottle of water £75, but this is the heart of London after all and given that we had just walked out of the Vietnamese restaurant across the road, because the staff practically growled at us to "take a seat!!" we wanted to eat somewhere that actually wanted us there! This lovely restaurant certainly did this. We had beef carpaccio, homemade seafood ravioli (from the daily specials menu) and tender loin pork that were all perfectly cooked and presented and served by some of the friendliest staff you could wish for. The Ravioli was possibly the best I've ever tasted - to be recommended. Adjoining diners seemed to be all eating thin crust pizzas - which looked delicious and I believe were very reasonably priced so all the better I think if you are on a budget. A really good place to eat and with upstairs dining too is suprisingly roomy.

We were going to another place to eat but it had been closed down. we found this place by accident and it looked busy but we managed to get a table. the Menu didn't have too much on it but enough to choose from. The wine list is good but a bit pricey as is the food but it as a treat so didn't worry too much about it. The staff were good very attentive and very friendly. The Service charge I would have liked to have that pointed out to me, i would have given them 10% anyway but 12.5% is a little much.

We came across this restaurant by chance and so glad we did. The food was superb and authentic, the staff attentive but not pushy and the caprese for dessert simply delicious. We were also given a limoncello to round the meal off. We were sat between an Italian couple and an Italian man so expected it to be good but it surpassed those expectations. If you get chance, drop in.....you will not be disappointed!

Restaurant is quite charming and is set in the old Italian authentic style.....Staff are quite chirpy & happy which was nice.Food was fairly good... a little pricey we thought but as it was a day out for us -we went with it but when the bill came there was a 12.5% service charge included which we found irritating & annoying! We always tip & we tip well...so they actually got less because of this Charge. There are other Italian restaurants around the corner that have set menu's & no service charges so we will use them next time.

Two months ago i eat in this restaurant and it was ...good not perfect but good, this week i went back i couldn't believe!!! everything was so expensive the menu is changed apparently because of the new management!! it's an outrage one pizza 13 pounds and then they add the service charge...and there's this waiter/manager (i think) who keeps asking u a lot of questions and he's pushing u to buy desserts and expensive food or drinks. at the end they give us a so called Limoncello, that we had it last time and it was nice, that i think it was mixed with water or lemonade cos it tasted terrible.I will never go back there and i'll make sure that my friends don't aswell.

Pizza was fine, service was bizarre. People seated after we, were served first . . . we believe the poor shmucks at the next table actually received (and ate) my black olive and anchovy pizza, even though they arrived 15 minutes after we. Wait staff kept trying to remove partially finished platters until my wife nearly knifed one of them. (she is a pacifist). A complaint about the lousy service and long wait got us an apology from the owner? manager? and a free dessert. Would not return. There are a gazillion restaurants in London and a good many of them located near this joint. Pass it by.

First ate here with my son 2 years ago on a Saturday lunchtime. The second time was on Sat 23rd at 19:00 - Two couples, two teenagers and an 8 year old, the booking was taken at the door one hour earlier to give us time to have a drink in nearby TGI's - The restaurant was that busy we were taken onto the top floor (3) the table for 8 by the window & radiator was bliss after a long day - Food ordered = Lasagne , Big Burger & Chips , Chicken & Mozzarella , Fillet steak with Pepper sauce , Tuna Steak , two Rib Eye Steaks all with veg and some really good roasted potatoes , one bottle of House bubbly for the girls, two bottles of Chianti for the boys ;-) And soft drinks for the 'Unders' was £210 well spent and rounded off the perfect first day on our hectic London / Wembley break - From the young lady on the door to the restaurant staff well done , second time and as good as the first, roll on the 3rd - Also check out the 'Graffiti' wall on floor 2, some really good stuff on there, which we had to add a bit of football history!

Dead fly in the Caesar salad, sauce runny and pooled in bottom of bowl. Service awful - grumpy waiter rushing us, clearing plates while people still eating and holding glasses by the rim - very unhygienic. And then they had the gall to add a 10% service charge to the bill without even asking! We would never return.

Went to this restaurant in china town as it was the least busiest... Should of known!Had mozerella pizza starter which was huge - far to big for a starter which is never a good sign! I had spinach ravioli with sage and butter sauce. I had 3 pieces of sage and the butter sauce I think was PURE butter. It was vile and couldn't eat it.My partner has spag boll, it was tasteless and far to big. The waiters didnt speak to us, didnt ask If everything was ok and took over 15 minutes to clear our starters and I had paid the bill before they cleared our main.10% service charge is added to your receipt automatically, which I asked to take off the bill!!

My daughter and I ate here before seeing the Lion King. I had Ravioli which was served with butter and sage. There were 3 small sage leaves and none of the flavour had been imparted in to the butter, the ravioli was spinach and ricotta and was plump and nicely cooked. My daughter had a HUGE portion of fish and chips, she is not a big eater and didn't manage to finish a third of it. I had a taste and it was nicely cooked. My cider was advertised as being Magnets but wasn't, not a big deal unless you have a strong brand preference. Service was good. Overall okay, but nothing special.

This restaurant is located next to the entrance to China town and right across from the Gielgud Theater (where we went to see Chariots of Fire). We would never have found this places except it was raining and we didn't want to spend a lot of time searching. I am so pleased to have located a reasonably-priced Italian restaurant in the middle of London. Portions, as the other reviewer said, are huge. The man next to us had a pizza that would serve four hungry women or two hungry men or one hungry teenage boy. I ordered a crisp and lovely salad (3 1/2 pounds) and a pizza bread topped with mozzarella and carmelized onions (4 1/2 pounds). The pizza bread was the size of an individual sized pizza and the carmelized onions made me want to swoon. Fabulous. My husband ordered the prix fixe menu (about 12 pounds) which included an appetizer and a main course. He chose a creamy vegetable soup and the beef stroganoff, and he raved about both. We split a bottle of Sangiovese wine (15 pounds) which is the house wine. It was terrific. So, there we were sitting next to the window across from the theater watching the rain and enjoying a terrific meal for less than 45 pounds. Life does not get much better. We will be back to the Astoria on our next visit to London. We should see you there.

Cosy surroundings very friendly staff and great food. The only complaint was the size of the portions. They were so big we couldn't fit the dessert in. If you're ever in Wardour St pop in to the Astoria for a meal you'll be made welcome and you wont be disappointed

Walking I noticed this small pizzeria characterized by a wood oven. The furniture is typical of an Italian trattoria. The staff is friendly, rapid and attentive to the customer just as you expect in Italy. The pizza is exceptional. The dough is well leavened and, therefore, light. The condiments are of excellent quality. Cooking is perfect. Excellent beer and ice cream also fully satisfies the palate. The account is adequate.

Five of us called in while in London nearby for a business lunch. Very different as you have to do down into an underground area. The decor is modern but with an industrial/classic feel. I am not a fan of pizza but we all ordered pizza as recommended by one of our group and I am glad we did as it was very good - as far as pizza goes. The atmosphere was great and the service was excellent. Highly recommend for somewhere interesting and quirky. The only down side was it was a bit pricey but I suppose we were in London!
