Aspley Table Table in Kirklees

Me and my partner went for a nice evening meal out after travelling for 20 minutes. Only to be turned away as we weren't staying at the premier inn, however nowhere on their website does it state this. In addition I tried to call before turning up to see if there was wait time, no one answered when we arrived it was completely dead, so feels off no one bothered to answer.

Gone down hill, wouldn't recommend

We have attempted to book here twice with family. On the first occasion, we turned up and the gas wasn't working in the kitchen. No one had called us and let us know so when we got there we had to find somewhere else to dine with the kids hungry. On this occasion, I had booked a table for fathers day on the Thursday at 6am. Someone from the restaurant then called me on Friday at 5.30pm to tell me that our booking had gone through online, but there was no table allocated. The woman on the phone offered no alternative time for the booking and simply said with a rude tone that there wasn't anything they could do. When I asked why they'd left it nearly 2 days she said you only booked yesterday anyway. Due to this terrible service, we will not be choosing to dine here again.

Great breakfast experience! Phyl was fantastic in service and the food was top notch, cooked by Christa. Will definitely be back again.

Walked into this pub Saturday evening. I was told I could not order any drinks at all unless I was stopping at the Premier Inn. table table pub was for hotel guests only. I was just popping in for a nice drink by the canal as it was a beautiful sunny evening. The pub was empty.

Didn't eat here, just stopped for a drink. Good selection, with a good amount of outdoor seating, which is nice in good weather.

Really good food and good service

Waitress needs to learn to look like she's enjoying serving the customers. We felt like we were intruding on her day.

We were shown to our booked table and ordered drinks. The waitress who took our food order was far from happy and sparkling. The food could only be described as mediocre. At about 7.00 the staff started rearranging table and laying for breakfast - this at 7 on Saturday evening. We found the whole experience experience underwhelming and will not be visiting again.

visited with my boyfriend wednesday morning after an early morning walk for a much needed breakfast. great choice of food available and for such a great price too. food and drink getting topped up regularly, great quality food, and lots to choose from. Amazing service from Phyl, very funny, attentive and made our visit even better. we will be back, thank you!

Great breakfast! The hot breakfast is cooked to order (very unusual for hotels these days!) No limp, half cold bacon or rubbery eggs from a buffet. All freshly cooked straight from the kitchen. Big shout out to the chef and to Phyl front of house in the restaurant. If I lived local I would come here for the breakfast alone! And was really good value at around 10 or 11 quid including endless coffee etc

Thanks to Phyl for being an excellent host for breakfast while I was staying at Premier Inn next door. She made sure we were all welcomed and cared for during breakfast. Christa did a great job with our food - best breakfast I’ve had while being away for work for a long time.

Service was extremely slow and poor, had to wait 40 mins for a child's starter which didn't need cooking! Tortilla chips, meal was ok , then had another long wait which was chased up twice for ice cream pudding!

The location is nice, next to the canal and there is outside sitting if the weather permits. The food is medíocre. OK for the money. You can get 2 meals for the price of 1, but I don't recommend the burgers, both the beef and the chicken burgers are small, basic and tasteless. The service was slow. It was a weekday lunchtime but not that busy, yet it still took 45 minutes from ordering to get our 5 meals. Luckily we had lots to talk about and weren't starving. For the special offer lunch price and the location it is somewhere we would return to, but don't expect anything wonderful of the food or staff.

Banging meal, had the trio pies and trimmings went down a treat, recommended by the barmaid, she wasn't wrong when she said its lovely, excellent service.

Came here with the family after a quick search online, my nephew choose this pub. First of all free parking ❤️ bonus!! When we entered we could see staff was busy, but didn't have to wait long before we was given a private *room* Staff very attentive We placed our order and waited None of us has been before and didn't have high expectations. Well how wrong were all of us Empty plates all round!!! The food was great, the quality of the steak and how we asked for was very good. It wasn't tough and cooked perfectly. I ordered the chicken smothered poster (?) Absolutely love the crispy thin bacon rashers on the chicken tender... Mixed grill went down well with the family as well as many other food Great value as well as great service. We ordered a main each starters to share and a drink each... 8 Adults under £140 Highly recommend and would come back when in the area Thank you

Attached to the Premier Inn Huddersfield Central adjacent to a lock morlaring where barges moar up, very scenic and relaxing view whilst eating or or enjoying your favorite tipple. I stop over at the premier in usually three times a year and always have my breakfast and tea there The cutlery and plates are always cleanly and the food and drink very reasonably priced The food is always well presented and very tasty and they also provide food that you can take to your hotel room if you do desire. The staff are always very welcoming and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them.

Really welcoming and attentive service. Food was great. Had the cheeseburger loaded chips and mini knicker bocker glory.

It's cut backs left right and centre everywhere at the minute if you want to keep places like this get yourselves down here. Nice views of the canal friendly staff and decent grub admitidly I just had a quick coffee but all the same it's a good spot to chill and contemplate life :)

So much for happy mother's day this restaurant as really spoilt my wife's average food then we waited over an hour for our dessert so obviously we decided not to have one a family meal that turned into a nightmare happy bloody mother's day 😕

Very very slow service and the place wasn’t that busy. Only 2 staff on the bar and a manager. The manager spent more time talking and distracting the team on the bar causing bigger delays. The food was tepid when it came out and very under portioned.

Wee bit slow with service in evening, but made up for it with the woman serving breakfast. Very friendly.

The breakfast was appalling. Three of us met for breakfast. Two were sent back as they were freezing cold. The scrambled eggs were rubbery, the bacon was rock hard and dry & the mushrooms were raw. There wasn't any bread to make toast and two broken crumpets. Bread was requested on a couple of occasions and arrived after we had finished eating. The dinning area was dirty and tired and looks like it needs a good clean & refurb.

We booked a table at this establishment,only to be told by the staff that the "pipes were frozen" after we arrived. We heard some other customers complaining outside & subsequently, it meant we weren't allowed to dine as the pub was closed.

Simply dreadful. Weather short staffed or not it was very disappointing and wouldn't go again 😕

Decided to visit Saturday lunchtime after shopping. Waited to be seated as instructed, no one came had to ask, eventually got seated to be told someone would come and take our drinks order soon , no one came 20 minutes later left . Didn't get to try their food never mind probably saved £50. Service absolutely rubbish won't be going again. The place wasn't even busy.

Walked in and waited by the 'please wait to be seated' sign to which nobody acknowledged us. We had to approach a staff member and ask to be seated. He said he would be back to take our drinks order soon. 20 minutes later still no drinks order let alone food. Ended up leaving and going home for a ham sandwich. Terrible service and won't be returning. Could understand if it was busy but it wasn't busy at all.

There was 7 of us that went NYE and the food was terrible, it has really gone down hill, staff were miserable. Will not be returning.

Went for Christmas day, probably wouldn't bother again. The table wasnt exactly set up well. We have been out for dinner before on christmas and had lovely decorated tables. We had a xracker, but the table was missing salt and pepper and surely you would have cranberry sauce set on the table ready seeing as though virtually all the meals had turkey. The order wasn't correct, each course there was something missing. The food was OK. Although the veg was very hard (I like al dente but this was just undercooked) and it wasn't the hottest. The service was OK, although we never received a checkback, but the staff was pleasant enough.

Lovely food, good choice and good prices

We went as a group and the food was just amazing, however the service being poor is a nice way of putting it. We waited an hour before we had to go and ask if we had to order ourselves at the bar or someone would come to us as by that point we weren't sure. They finally managed to come and take our orders and we took full advantage of the rare chance we got to see the staff to ask some more topping of the water, which we constantly struggled to find someone to top it up. The restaurant was not busy at all so there was no excuse. At the end we had cake and they left to bring us some spoons which never arrived so we had to eat it with our hands. They brought us the coffee and tea at the end after another endless wait. Good food, poor service, maybe it needs to be corrected.

My previous review (below) dates back to pre-covid... ...my husband and I went again (November 2023)with my son and two granddaughters (3 and 5). Again the food was generally ok but expensive. (£61+ for 2 child meal deals, 2 fruit shoots (£2.79 each), 2 adult meals, my starter selection and three pepsi (£4.69 each)). They were very accommodating with our order: I chose 3 "festive" starters for my main but was disappointed that the cauliflower cheese (£2.79) and the grilled sprouts gratin (£4.49) were too "al dente" to enjoy; the "loaded roasties" (£4.49) however were very tender and delicious. The service was a bit spasmodic as we had no chance to order a second drink and there was a mix-up with the childrens' ice cream desserts which took ages to arrive. I also had to wait a long time to pay the bill. It may be another 4 years before we go again. The food was generally very nice - do not recommend the three cheese bites starter though - and the gin and forest fruit trifle substitute for the chocolate and cointreau trifle we had actually ordered was very tart... ...drinks are very expensive, especially soft drinks (£2.55)... The service was poor - extras came too late to eat with the meal - there was a mix up with the drinks and we were not offered the coffee and truffles we had ordered... ...our bill came to £158.70 and none of the staff spoke as we left!

Staff run off their feet. Very helpful and friendly. Food however was not user friendly, breakfast although there was plenty, wasn't the best. Evening meals were a little better, quality wasn't quite there.

We come here often for breakfast and the food is always lovely! The staff are friendly and welcoming each time. The woman who works on the tables always goes above and beyond to make sure everything is okay

I have stayed at the hotel next door a lot over the years and to be honest I feel like it is a revolving door of staff, the food is half decent considering the price but is not great. The breakfast could be better especially the bacon which is somehow very tough. The only saving grace to the breakfast is phillamena who is quick and efficient.

Pre booked a breakfast week in advance for 28 people area was reserved but service was awful 1 chef in the kitchen meant they tuck orders if 4/6 at a time and the next batch as they brought others there food couldn’t find staff when you wanted them an hour later and 4 out the 28 was still waiting for there food, very poor Food wasn’t the best some was cold eggs were like rubber

A friend and I went for dinner today and the lady who served us was very attentive to our needs. She made us feel so welcome and went above and beyond. I believe her name was filomena (sorry if I have spelt your name wrong). Both me and my friend was truly grateful for how nice she was. The only regret we had was that we couldn't leave a tip as we had no cash on us. Thank you.

Gone downhill in the last year or so. it's such a shame.

First impression was not good .But the staff and the food was first class Been back for Sunday dinner not very good .but only 8 pounds. .

A very nice modern pub attached to the hotel. Lovely staff, plenty of seating looking out over the canal and barges. A relaxing couple of hours just having a drink. Free parking for up to 3 hours as well.

Unable to take 3 guest walk-ins on a Sunday lunchtime, while the restaurant was virtually empty. (Around 10-15 people inside and not all were eating). Very under enthused staff and management couldn't even be bothered to talk to us. Don't bother with this place. Unless I'm just unlucky and went on a bad day.

Rang to book a table 2 days before when we arrived the table wasn't available , we then had to wait a while to order our main meals, we then ordered puddings when they arrived they hadn't even taken the plates away from the mains.

First time going for breakfast, all you can eat breakfast and kids eat free. It cost us less that £20 for 4 of us. The food was at a good standard lots to choose from. The staff and atmosphere are great. Ivouldnt find a fault. We will definitely be returning. Thankyou

What a lovely place to meet up with friends, alongside the canal.

Went on a Saturday night for family meal. Was busy, yet they had 3 staff out front. 1 at the bar 2 serving. Waiting at the bar for a drink was an utter joke. Food was good but the service was very poor. Dirty Plates and glasses all over, no one cleaning tables. When we complained to the ""team leader"" he said he couldn't do anything about it and I should take it up with management. When asked to speak to management he said they are not here, I'm in charge 😂 and gave me an email address to write to. None of them knew what they were doing. Very poor, not impressed and will not be going back. Avoid at all costs.

Food was excellent especially starter spicy chicken wings .ordered cappuccino put it in a mocha cup told us best not have a saucer as cup slips off asked for sprinkles on top said had none gave us 2 after 8 mints to brake up .think must have been change of shift at 3 because nobody could get a drink at bar in queue of 6 no rush shame usually fine.

Good-sized meals at a good price. We ate before 6 on a week day to take advantage of the 2 for £10.49 and were pleasantly surprised with the size, and it tasted delicious. The restaurant sits next to a canal with views of Huddersfield University.

Feel a bit let down today, I’m not sure if it’s normally this bad. Service was incredibly slow (nearly 10 mins for a drink) I booked for food at 5 only to be told it could be closer to 6:45 due to kitchen having too many tickets (it wasn’t busy at all - although there were a couple of big tables occupied) They were massively understaffed and this showed - tables dirty, food left at tables, no glasses available etc. I am willing to give it another go and hope it’s significantly better.

Thought I would treat myself to a nice mixed grill the place seemed not so busy with seating in n out on offer very spacious plus very clean with two staff serving on doing the drinks also bringing the food out both very polite mannered staff . I went for a mixed grill with an upgrade which definitely made eyes look bigger than my belly the service was very good staff very helpful with not long to wait . Has the food came out it was hot also very tasty just how a mixed grill should be no complaints from me has it really did fill me up but this place sat on the basin some really nice views just away from the town centre hustle n bustle but I do like the place maybe pricey 1 meal for £25 but value for money plus location I think it’s worth paying I know you can get cheaper but not for the nice location which I think is key .

Horribly experience. Went to the Aspley for breakfast and staff couldn't understand how to use the electronic booking-in system for me to pay by card. So left without eating!!!!

Terrible...the place is filthy even outside cigarette ends all over and wedged between the decking...I went 2 years ago and it was lovely shame really lovely setting...but no won't be going back...could be easily fixed...employ more staff, the tables were just left for over 40 minutes with leftovers and dirty plates...won't be going back there

Waited 5 minutes to be dealt with regarding the main meal and then nearly 30 minutes for dessert. The most disappointing thing was the cocktails 2 for a 10a for what we got was pathetic it wasn't nice at all and looked like a glass of urine tasted like it aswell. All in All 7/10

Super freundliches Personal und gutes Essen. Wer hier isst oder was trinkt fühlt sich sehr wohl. Auch der junge Barkeeper ist ein super Typ. Die Kneipe liegt an einr gemütlichen kleinen Hafenanlage mit diversen Hausbooten.

Worst place ever management are has thick as two short planks arrogant and not fit for purpose the meals we had were cold and the chicken was gone off the smell from the chicken was too obvious we have reported this to the local authority. Please avoid this place there are lovely independent restaurants near by !

Mostly ordered the fancy caramel iced coffees, David makes them absolutely spot on, so if you're after one of them, you'd best hope he's the one making it! (Sorry for no pictures, they're just gone too quickly!)

Food was gorgeous but the service wasn't good at all. The staff were friendly but seriously over worked. Employ more staff so customers get served in a timely manner. You may even get chance to clean some glasses so you don't run out. I noticed the cleaning schedule in the toilets at 6.15pm - cleaned at 6.30pm by M.Mouse and 9.30pm by D.Duck. I don't believe either of them had cleaned the toilets days - filthy. Always makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is...........

Been here several times but sadly this time the food was disappointing, came out warm so had to be reheated, the stuffing was deep fried and the Yorkshire pudding was like cardboard and taste of nothing. The service was lacking because instead of asking us if there was anything else we needed like sauces, we had to ask the staff and the staff attitude changed when we asked for our meals to be warmed up, it was like we were an inconvenience to them.

Food was good . Had a mixed grille . Would have preferred to sit outside by the canal and enjoy the view but the wife is a bit nesh so had to stay indoors

I had a wonderful experience with my partner here. Both shattered from a long weekend and David couldn’t have done a better job if he tried. Food was fantastic, service was fantastic. We will definitely be back
