ASK - Liverpool in Liverpool

Just finished eating a takeaway from ASK. Food was delicious and very good value having bought the Mother's Day Bundle, all the family enjoyed it too! Can't wait till the restaurant is open to eat in!

Came here January 2020 with my partner, his sister and her fiancé for a meal. Myself and my partner were doing veganuary and chose here after enquiring about if they had a vegan menu and because it was close to the Royal Court theatre as we had tickets for a play. I have to say we tried a few places to eat during veganuary some places being solely vegan/veggie places but our meal at Ask had to be our best vegan meal. They had a pretty good selection some dishes being the same as the regular menu but tweaked to be vegan, they got the flavours right and everything tasted fresh. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the vegan options including what drinks were vegan friendly. Would recommend.

Due to Covid19, Tier3, restrictions restaurant as good as empty.But once again the pastas my wife and I had were truly fabulous. And house red excellent.We keep our fingers crossed that ALL restaurants survive these sad times we are currently in.May your God bless you ALL!!!

Michael, en particular, fue tan acogedor entre los encantadores y el chef preparó mi comida, que ya no está en el menú, pero pensó que simplemente "preguntar" jaja. Went for our mother's birthday and hospitality was great. They gave my mum a free drink, all the staff was very friendly and inviting and the food was delicious. Will definitely go again.

Algunos elementos del menú no estaban disponibles y la comida que se sirvió no era buena, calzone frío y tuvo que ser devuelto. No encontramos al personal muy servicial o amable, así que en general no fue una gran experiencia y el restaurante ni siquiera estaba lleno para usar eso como excusa. Es muy poco probable que volvamos y no lo recomendaría, muchos otros restaurantes cercanos que ofrecen un mejor servicio y mejor comida.

I really enjoyed my food here and so did my husband. We booked for 8pm. The service was excellent staff were friendly and helpful. All COVID-19 precautions implemented!

Llegó a las 7. 45 pm esta noche. Pedimos pollo del menú de entrada, luego dijimos que no, que ambos lo elegimos. Pensarías que te lo dirían cuando llegues. Mi esposo pidió Lasaña Grande, regresaron y también se quedaron fuera. Realmente decepcionante. 2 cosas que queríamos y no tienen ninguna. La próxima vez que visitemos Liverpool, creo que iremos a la casa de al lado de Nando.

Fuimos a la hora del té para una comida y de repente se puso muy ocupado. El servicio fue excepcional y nuestro camarero John era un hombre muy agradable. Él estaba muy bien informado del menú. El fue muy amable. La comida era deliciosa. Si quieres una comida italiana, este es el lugar para ir. El servicio fue muy bueno y amable. Incluso cuando estaba muy ocupado, el servicio seguía siendo bueno.

El restaurante estaba muy ocupado, no había ambiente en absoluto debido al ruido. Decepcionado con el entrante de calamares, ya que son muy delgados en comparación con otros restaurantes que he visitado. La albóndiga principal, la pasta estaba dura y quemada. Mi compañero tenía la carbonara que estaba bien. Arrancador de bolas de masa, algunos estaban demasiado cocidos y quemados. Debido a estar ocupado, esperó mucho tiempo para comer y entre platos.

Limp black rocket, tepid soup, fry up chips, really poor food very overpriced! Will not return and will advice people to stay away!

From the moment we arrived I was impressed. I suffer from a gluten allergy and was asked about it before I was seated. The NGC menu was good and varied. It was nice to receive this without having to ask for itWe waited a while for our pizzas to arrive. After about a 15 minute wait, a member of staff came to see us to apologise for the wait and to explain the reason. Great service as the restaurant was packed at the time. Our food arrived shortly afterwards.We got a nicer surprise with the bill as we were given a generous (and unrequested) discount.The food was delicious, by the way. But he service was even better.

We called in for a meal pre theatre trip around 5:30 pm Saturday 22/2/20. It was busy and waitress said she had the last table for us, which seemed 'not quite correct' as more people behind us were seated after us ( not at reserved tables). We ordered our meals (Risotto con pollo e fungi & slow cooked beef in chianti sauce and a portion of French fries), a glass of Peroni and a 250 ml glass of Sauvignon Blanc. A short while later we were told they had run it of SB and could we choose another...no problem as such, I chose a Pinot Grigio which was more expensive. Our meals came and my husbands meal was really inedible. There was an enormous breadlike crust on it, burnt underneath, with what could only be said we're a few pieces of meat beneath it. The accompanying brocolli was yellow on top and you could barely cut into it, it was so undercooked! I love risotto but my mine was more like rice in sauce, with a few mushrooms and few pieces of chicken. My husband called the lady over ( she was possibly the restaurant manager) and she agreed that it shouldn't look like that, nor should it have been burnt. She asked if he wanted something else but, as we had other food, he declined.....by this time he was very upset but was extremely polite in his complaint about the food. We both shared the risotto and both agreed it wasn't up to a great standard of cooking or presentation. No one approached us after that, my husband asked a passing waiter for the bill who dutifully brought it and we had to check about the returned meal. It had been deducted but we were so annoyed that to them it seemed 'just one of those things'. Any good restaurant who respect their customers ( and we've been to Ask before) would have acknowledged the inconvenience to ourselves, the fact they had run out of a certain wine ( again, we accepted that) and say, given us complimentary drinks. I just feel furious that the customer service was so lacking....they were polite and apologetic but quite dismissive, failing to approach us again to see if we were happy. Perhaps other people ate well there that evening and, maybe because it's a city Centre restaurant, they feltjust 2 unhappy customers were not worth worrying about. I don't have the answer to that but I do know it spoiled our evening because of the bad start. I'm really disappointed in the after care the staff have to us both. EVERY customer is important and our food on this occasion was absolutely terrible.

My wife and I went to Ask Italian in Queen Square Liverpool yesterday evening for a meal before going to the theatre. Served by friendly staff, the meal was well prepared and and did not take long to arrive at our table. Although the restaurant was by no means full at this time (around 5.30 pm) there was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. We enjoyed our meal and had plenty of time to get to the theatre. Will definitely go again.

Excellent dinner once again.In my humble opinion Ask Italian is the best Italian restaurant in Liverpool. We have been there on numerous occasions and not once have we had a poor meal.Last night we had a garlic bread to share, then I had the lasagne grand, while my partner had pancetta and asparagus carbonara. Both were delicious. We had a dessert each. Again top notch.

It was easy to book a table for dinner. Kayleigh looked after us very well, thank you. I had meatballs for my starter, the bowl was hot, the top of the meatballs were hot, however the bottoms were cold. Kayleigh took them away to sort out the situation which she did quickly. I was offered a complimentary drink in compensation. I had the penne arrabiata as the main course which was okay apart from the source being a little thin. The drinks on offer are good. All in all excellent service from the staff

Went in for a Monday lunchtime and were served very quickly and efficiently but with the perfect amount of friendliness from our waiter John who gave great customer service and warmth to what is already a lovely restaurant. Our food was delicious and piping hot and we’d have no hesitation on going again when back in Liverpool.

We ate here twice-December and January. Had vegan food second time and that was very acceptable especially the pud!

Called in for lunch. Thought food was expensive for what it was. Had pizza with goats cheese. Pizza itself was hot the toping wasn't - so basically an ordinary pizza with a goats cheese and tomato salad sprinkled on top! Plenty of it, but not very appetising. Service good but overall not a good lunch.

My wife & I were regulars until last night (17/1/20), the problem with this restaurant is the complete inconcistency of the food to the point we know who has made it, my wife always has the meat calzone, to try & prevent the ongoing problem when I order I always ask that they put enough filling in & offer to pay extra, our waiter John & general manager Sarah are aware of this & whenever they are on shift they ensure there is no problem. Last nights calzone was disgraceful, on ordering it last night I mentioned it to the manager Charlotte as usual when it arrived it was a disgrace, when my wife put her knife in, it totally collapsed as there was hardly any filling, Charlottes reaction was to reluctantly offer to replace it while lecturing my wife and made it sound like she was freeloading, we paid for the garlic bread & drinks we had & told her we would not be paying for the mains, we saw John on the way out, who was just coming on shift, we explained why we would not be coming back, I would suggest that shift managers should be capable of handling a problem she has been made aware of in advance in a better way than losing regulars, I would also suggest she asks about food allergies as my wife is allergic to lettuce & she was served a salad garnish, on the bright side there was so little of that as well, it probably would not have made her that ill even if she had eaten it.

Weekend away and the restaurant was near by so thought we would eat there for a change. Lovely welcome received. We had 3 courses so will review by course.

Book to go here before going to the theatre, the food was fantastic all four of us had a really lovely meal, we where served by John who was really lovely he couldn’t do enough for us all. Would definitely go here again

Went with a friend before going to a concert. Both had the goats cheese and rocket pizza. They had cooked the pizza, then put the toppings on, so I had tomatoes cut in half and just plonked on top and 4 tiny pieces of goats cheese. I have had hundreds of pizzas but never one with uncooked toppings. For £12.50 I was appalled. And to make it even worse it was cold!!!! Had to send it back and they just reheated it.

3 of us went for dinner and we were all impressed. One of us had been before. Probably, a step up from a Bella Italia but similar prices.

Decided to get a quick bite to eat while shopping. I had the chicken Milanese with a mushroom sauce and new potatoes. The chicken was bland and the sauce was dreadful! Honestly never tasted something so revolting.

Within a short stroll of both the Walker Art Gallery and the World Museum. Interesting and varied menu, with plenty of options for non meat eaters. When we visited, at lunchtime on a Thursday, the restaurant was quiet, with plenty of free tables. Nice, relaxed atmosphere and attentive, pleasant staff. Will definitely be booking my table here on our next cultural visit to Liverpool :) Worth checking out the web site for any offers - we got a voucher for 25% off our food!

We arrived at 13:40 at the restaurant which was less than half full we got drinks and ordered our food the starter came at 14:20 after such a long wait was very nice our dishes were cleared away by 14:35 thinking our main would not be long , it turned up at 15:05 my partner had ordered chicken breast in breadcrumbs which was over cooked and visibly burnt black at the edges I ordered a pasta in a mushroom sauce which also was burnt the pasta was crispy and sauce tasteless , we were asked by a waitress how the food was but before I had time to answer she had turned and walked away . Never coming here again

The venue itself has a good ambience and the staff are very nice.

Visited Ask Saturday evening after seeing the festival of light, we did have Tesco vouchers but decided not to use them, and went for the 3 course set menu for just under £16 each, we both had Mushrooms al forno to start, it was beautiful , main course was fettuccine bolognese, which was very nice, finished by two very nice desserts, and a bottle of Pino, i would normally have beer but £6 a bottle is a bit to expensive i think, waitress was pleasant and our food arrived in good time, been here several times using tesco vouchers or paying full price and would certainly return,

Attentive service, quick service and grear new menu. The place has a nice ambience and is handy for the Liverpool Empire.

Unfortunately, this is our first and last time we will eat at Ask.

Got a voucher of Planet radio - £40 of food for £20 off the set menu. Rang up before purchased as my husband began. I was told they had a few set menus and they all had vegan options. What a con. They give you a set menu which has a choice of 4 items per course. All very cheap if you buy them on the normal menu - not even soup. Vegan is non existent on the set menu so she said she could do pasta with tomato sauce or a pizza with tomatoes. Dessert available only sorbet for vegans. Couldn’t even get a coffee as no plant based milk.

Came as on mini break I had a spinach dish with pasta, it was nice but Luke warm when arrived, my husband’s meal was hot because the the waiter has warned him, by the time I got to the end of my meal it was cold, the pudding was also cold as it was supposed to melt when poured hot sauce on, still the waiter was friendly and the drinks were nice don’t think I’ll go there again

Pretty busy for a Sunday evening. Booked in advance using 241 card no problem. Best starter of king prawns anywhere in garlic and on bread followed by pizzas and drinks. Final bill less £17 discount was very satisfactory. Good service and nice place. Up to normal standards for Ask.

It was amazing having 1 fussy daughter and 1 not so fussy they ate everything and more my lasagna was beautiful I would defo recommend this restaurant and John aka George was fab 👌

We haven't been here for a few years for one reason or another. The last time we visited the food was ok probably could have been better. Like I said it's been a few years, we visited Sat 5th Oct 19 and OMG what a difference our lasagne was xxxcellent and the chips were beautiful. My mum isn't a chip eater really but I had to get in there before she ate the lot. And the garlic mayo you get with the chips is to die for i couldnt leave that alone. Not understanding mayo with chips it should be ketchup i quite surprised myself. For us Prezzo do the best lasagne but Ask is on a par with them. Staff were nice and service was quick. We are there again in a couple of weeks so a 2nd trip will see if it's consistent. Keep up the good work Ask.

Unfortunately, I had an awful meal. The service was very slow and being on my own I felt ignored. The potatoes tasted weird as if they had been twice cooked in rancid butter.

I had dinner at this restaurant three times and the staff were friendly and prompt with their service. Although this restaurant is part of a chain, I was very satisfied with the food. I was solo and the staff took extra time to have a chat with me. I recommend the pizza and the pasta's.

What can I say but fantastic food, great service and so friendly. It was my daughter's 18th and the waitress must have noticed it by the passing of cards. Nevertheless, she gave her prosecco on the house for her celebration. What a wonderful touch.

Expected lovely things from this restaurant but came away disappointed. Food was just ‘okay’ but the waitress was lovely. Also tried again with the takeaway delivery option and was most disappointed. It was cold, bland and very expensive. Sorry but won’t be returning anytime soon

Me and my husband visited here today for a pre theatre lunch. Warm friendly service, particularly from John our waiter. Great food! My husbands favourite is the calzone pizza. He said it was the best he had had. We will be back Thankyou x

Came here last night with my husband and I must say the food and service was excellent. We were seated promptly and our drinks order taken quickly followed by our food order. As We dont like big plates we ordered a number of small plates to be served all together, we had the Pea & Ricotta Souffle,the Spinach and Ricotta arancini, Chicken Lecca-Lecca, Meatballs Piccante (quite spicey) and a rainbow salad on the side, we loved the lot. Must say a big thank you to John our server who was very helpful and polite will be returning soon!

I’ve visited Ask in Manchester a few times and it’s always been really nice. We had a rare child free day in Liverpool and decided to eat here as we like the food, however the Liverpool branch is awful!!! The staff were lovely but the standard of food was terrible. Broccoli arrived like mush on a plate and the presentation wasn’t much different. Really standard salad like you’d buy at the supermarket and the mushroom sauce was tasteless. Will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone. Your chef needs to up their standards massively or you’ll be loosing a lot of customers

Only my 2nd visit to ask and will be my last. Restaurant is really cold, ended up putting a cardigan on my daughter and my husband was freezing. Think they’d cranked up the air con. Daughters spag Bol was tasteless, informed the waiter who swapped it for another meal and took the kids meal off the bill without asking. Both mine and husbands pasta dishes where average. Not sure if it’s the food from there but I spent the night vomiting!! Man on the table next to use sent his dinner back twice. Nicer food in the nandos facing!

I used to really enjoy ASK but i'd never left a review before. Feel a bit guilty for doing it now but lately they have not lived up to standards of the past. I always have the Lasagna (boring i know) but it seems to be getting worse each time i go. Have you guys changed it? I will be back i'm sure i just hope it's how i always remembered it, creamy and flavoursome, not stodgy and bland.

We visited ask Italian today and our server was John, I just wanted to say how pleasant and friendly the service was! Would definitely come again :)

Went this evening after the theatre, walked I. It wasn’t very busy at all. The menu’s were thrown at us, we sat down anyway and looked at the menu waiting for the waiter to come and take our drinks order. After 10 mins, still hadn’t been over: we said we would wait a further 10 mins to see if they approached us, they never so we left. Didn’t receive so much as a hello or buy. Rude service especially in an empty restaurant.

1st time visiting this restaurant as on trip to Liverpool. Looked lovely & clean but staff a little bit lax in providing any Cheese, Water. Forks & spoons. Food was just average.

My Husband George and I had a late lunch here today. We have eaten here for quite a few years and it's usually sit back relax and have a good time.

A bit of a long wait for drinks and food, but worth the wait. The food was lovely as was the waitress.

We called in tonight on the way back to our hotel after a day sightseeing at around 6pm and specifically asked them what time they stopped serving that night.

My ladies meal was tiny and uninspired with a capital uninspiring. For £13 she got about 20 chips, small piece of chicken, sprig of broccoli and the smallest portion of mushroom sauce I have ever seen, about 1 mouthful and that's being generous, felt my lady had been insulted. My £14 pizza was beautifully presented as a long lozenge shape, looked big but really no more than a 6 inch pizza, con job by using shape to make it look big. Will never go back.

We’ve eaten twice at this restaurant. Both evenings were in a nice atmosphere. For us one of the reasons to come back. On top of that the service that we received was very good and sincere,thanks to our waitress Mira.

Good Italian food, loved the Trebbiano white wine, would recommend going early for tea we arrived at 5.00 pm it started getting very busy at around 6.00pm.

Chain restaurant and you can tell. A lack of love for the food was evident, portion sizes not up to much and expensive bottled beer. Would not visit again and would go to a independently restaurant next time.

Have to say I'm a little disappointed with my dining experience. Everything felt rushed. Ordered a bolognaise which is literally what I got - no bread, no parmesan, no water - unless you asked. It tasted alright but for £11 portion was tiny could almost another one. Overall substandard!

We went with friends for early dinner before the show at the Cavern Club as it was close by. We were not disappointed, food was excellent and we all had something different, all good. The place was very busy but staff coped well and we didnt have to wait for anything for long. Definitely recommend.

Having visited the new Leeds branch before a concert I thought choosing this place was a no brainer....oh how wrong I was! We where quite happy to wait half an hour for our table drinking the delicious cocktails. But once got seated it was downhill from there. Over 50 minutes wait for starters then another 35 for mains. Rubbish excuses and lies given for reasoning. Table next to us ordered after us and had finished there food before ours was brought. We were given a discount but the final straw was the waiter slamming the receipt on the table!!! Go elsewhere..!!

Me & my partner visit here on the 28th of may 2019 as it was our last night in Liverpool. We wanted to try an Italian restaurant and all I can say is WOW what a great place to go for food it was delicious my partner ordered the chicken pesto pasta and she was very impressed with that and I just had a pepperoni pizza which was one of the best I’ve ever had it was so tasty and I can’t forget the drinks my partner had the strawberry mojito that tasted great and I had the strawberry spritz they where so mouth watering and we would like to thank the waitress Sophie she was so pleasant and very polite. Keep up the great work guys we will be back one day. 100% Recommend this place to friends and family ;)

Had a lovely meal here with a friend before attending the Bon Jovi concert. The restaurant was quite busy downstairs but upstairs was empty, however the service was pretty slow. The lady and gent that served us were however lovely and both very pleasant.

Would just like to say how wonderful your colleagues, Jess and John, are; I can not praise them enough for the care and attention they gave us when I brought in my parents who both suffer with Alzheimer’s, on Tuesday 11th. They went above and beyond, and nothing was too much trouble for them. As you can imagine it is difficult trying to manage two adults who have Alzheimer’s, they made me feel so comfortable when I visited and were willing to help with anything. They’re attention to my parents and I made my afternoon a lot less stressful. Then at the end of the meal when I asked for the bill,they told me it was on the house as they had been watching me and we’re able to empathise with my situation. I have never felt so emotional when this happened, it brought me to tears. They really are a credit to your company, I cannot praise them enough! We will definitely be returning to this restaurant, just for the incredible staff. I hope you give them the recognition they deserve for this incredibly, compassionate act. Thank you, Jess and John!

First off I would like to compliment our lovely servers for their attention to our needs! I am allergic to all grains, not just wheat and gluten and was excited to see a special menu offering pizza and other lovely things I cannot normally eat. However they were only listed as gluten free, our servers tried to find a list of ingredients to check for other grains and failing that even attempted to contact head office, but to no avail!

This was my first visit to an ‘Ask’ and it will be my last. I love Italian food and was really looking forward to an enjoyable meal. Sadly the butterflied chicken could have repaired the sole of my shoes; it wasn’t just dry, it was hard. Insufficient sauce and 3 miserable, soggy pieces of broccoli completed the dish.

As a lovelr of Italian food, I was really disappointed about the food and the price of the food here. Starter we had Prawn and Mushroom, which was ok but for main course we had Beef Brisket and Chicken pasta ad it as awful, loads of pasta hardly any meat and no taste. The only good thing about was the waitress who was very friendly.

Our first starter, the soufflé was not available - at 6 o’clock! The substitute antipasto was small, poor quality with a meagre selection. The main courses, particularly the lasagne, were barely edible. Looking round, most people were having pizzas and apparently enjoying them. So maybe just steer clear of the other food. The service was good and the general ambience was OK.

One of our party only had 30mins before they needed to catch a train and was just going to order a starter but our waitress, Mira, assured us she could get a main course to him in time. Good to her word, the pasta dish arrived super-fast and by all accounts was very tasty. The rest of us enjoyed a more leisurely meal, all of which was fresh and flavourful. Thank you Mira for great service and ensuring all of our party was well fed!

Ieri io e la mia ragazza abbiamo deciso di fermarci in questo ristorante, e l'esperienza e' stata estremamente negativa. Vale la pena di dire che come locale non e' male, non c'e' musica dal vivo come in molti locali di Liverpool e non e' caotico, ogni tavolo puo' godere della propria privacy. Tuttavia, questi sono gli unici aspetti positivi.

pasta must bee cooked to order, not cooked in advance and put in tubs. it ruins the taste , every cook knows this.

Great food, very tasty. Good choice on menu. Nice choice of wine. Very clean and tidy. Staff attentive, but not over bearing.

We went to this Restaurant on a Saturday night when we visited Liverpool, we were a party of 4 and we have visited other Ask Italian as it’s one of our favourite places to eat.

It's not the best Italian I have ever had but I have to say they try really hard to be a bit more authentic than a lot of the other Italian chains. We had a very nice pizza and a pasta and a delicious desert. Staff were lovely couldn't do enough made us feel really welcome and friendly without being over servile. Wish I could remember our waiters' name as he was lovely. Plus although not a lot of people there had a nice atmosphere. Would go back.

Saturday early evening and pretty busy

Arrived and shown to our table. It was a bit cool in restaurant. Ordered drinks latte was only luke warm. Wanted the sea bass but this was off the menu and it was only 6pm. Prawns as a starter were tasteless. Mushroom ok as were the white bait. Mains were okay risotto a bit watery but edible. The pear tarte was supposed to be served warm but was cold. Glad I had a voucher for money off as do not feel it was worth the asking price.

Booked online but arrived 30 minutes earlier than expected. This was not a problem Order included pizza, kids pasta, carbonara and linguine very tasty. Washed down with wine, beer, soft cocktails (kids drink) and limoncellos. Good service, not rushed which is refreshing. Really enjoyed dining here. Recommended.

Having travelled from Hampshire to Liverpool to see my family I decided to take them out to Ask, it was about 5pm when we arrived and the place was relatively quiet. Unfortunately the service was not great and we waited over an hour for desserts that was not the nicest when they arrived. The staff seemed to be rude and when we asked for a baby chino to be swapped for something more appropriate for a 1 year old they said they couldn’t do it. No flex at all. Why they didn’t tell us about the tiny tum menu I don’t know as we ordered two kids meals not realising there was a smaller menu for babies. Despite have a tiny 1 year old in a high chair. I enjoyed my calzone but that’s all I enjoyed. The disappointing part was we paid just under a £100 and to me it was a waste of money. I’ll never go back here again. Sorry

Went out on Wednesday , had great time . Excellent service provided by Jessica and her team. Lovely food, definitely would recommend.

This was a lovely restaurant. The food was outstanding, and the service was also very good. They staff were very friendly. It was spotlessly clean. If you like Italian food this is a place to try. It was a set menu for Mothers Day. Three course and glass of Prosecco. Very good value for money. Will definitely go again.

This is a very popular restaurant in Liverpool particularly between 17.00-18.00. I had taken the precaution of booking which is advisable if you have limited time to eat. We were offered the free taste of their lemonade while we perused the menu. The menu is very varied with something for everyone's taste and pocket. Our order was taken very promptly and our mains arrived very quickly. My pizza was hot and very tasty. On this occasion we decided to try the desserts and my choice of the profiteroles filled with ice cream was different but enjoyable. The staff are very friendly and efficient. We will certainly return again
