ASK - Leicester in Leicester

a group of us (4) were going to a show at the Haymarket. We parked st the Haymarket car park. it's a short walk Ask. We ate on a Saturday night. We'd booked, but there was plenty of space. Service was really good and friendly. There was loads of choice on the menu and the food was really good.

The best restaurant by far in Leicester staff were superb hard working and polite the food was just delicious not over priced will return.

We visited Ask Italian for the first time today (29/02/2020) and was pleasantly surprised to see the good selection for Coeliacs or anybody requiring gluten free.They also have an extensive vegetarian / Vegan menu. The staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable.The food was excellent, they gluten free pasta was the best I have had. The Etna chocolate pudding was excellent.We will definitely be going back and would highly recommend Ask Italian to any Coeliac. Good easy menu, plenty of choice for anyone who fancies something italian. Nice and clean, staff happy and helpful.

Unfortunately we didn’t book, we were away from home travelling and this was our sons Choice.. birthday treat! They eventually fitted us in upstairs, wow what a stunning building! So much history. Salads, chicken Maltese and carbonara was delicious as was the mozzarella garlic bread. The service was a bit slow but restaurant was busy. The host was very pleasant And service very good. The rhubarb pasta dessert was edible but not great, hot custard, cold soggy pasta tasted under done with thick paste inside..ummm yuk

Management are not very helpful plus not worth your money

Table reserved three weeks earlier for Valentine's Day. On Valentine's Day, in the morning he gets an e-mail to be at the appointed time. Time to go to the restaurant, message recorded on voicemail. "That our reservation is canceled because something has broken in the kitchen and the restaurant will be closed for two days "strangely, I work normally today and it is open! No respect for the customer does not act like this and does not treat the customer !!!! -mail asking if we are satisfied with the visit to the restaurant and ask for an opinion!!!

Such a warm welcome and great service tonight. Lots of different vegan choices and they are good value. We had the green pizza with pea puree, a verdure pasta with olive tapanade and a melanzane tagliatelle. They were all really tasty and not small portions. It's bright and clean inside and not too busy so you don't feel rushed

Lovely as always. Love the window seat so we can people watch! Excellent food, lovely helpful, professional and attentive staff. Love going here. We go roughly every 6 weeks and usually have the same meal. Creatures of habit.

Great big welcome upon arrival and was also asked about allergens which made us feel really positive about the procedure as one of our party was vegan, and another a celiac. we arrived super late and without booking but the manager/waiter that served us took us anyway on new years eve. He offered us all the different available menus as this was still Christmas time, so there was a festive menu. We decided not to dine via that menu as we simply wouldn't eat 3 courses. instead we opted for the regular menu. We asked for specifics details about the dishes and our waiter was very knowledgeable. In the end we went with his commendation of the truffle fonduta which was delicious and i also had the two egg Florentine which was equally nice. I passed on dessert as the food was so filling.the food i would give 8/10, price 6/10, service 10/10.The service in this place is excellent, our waiter/manager was knowledgeable, kind and very friendly. we got talking about football,fitness and other topics as he cleaned down the tables at the end of the night. The other lady that was on was also hard working but didn't get chance to speak to her. but i would imagine her service being just as good. me and the family had never been to an Ask Italian before, so we didn't know it was a chain restaurant, as the waiter that served us could have passed for a young italian gentleman. but he explained there are many of your restaurants in the UK that offer the sme food and service everywhere.I hope that when we return i get the same staff member as my previous visit so me and the family get the same wonderful experiences as new years eve. in short, we shall definitely be returning and really enjoyed our experience provided by the chefs and our waiter.

Good food, great service!Warm wholesome welcome by a young gent.He seemed bright and made me and my husband feel like we were on holiday, with the refreshing lemonade and chit chat about the day.We got menus and food really quickly and it was tasty. We were table checked on both starters and mains which was reassuring!I was skeptical all at first as our waiter was wearing ripped jeans and a tight t shirt and I wouldn’t usually associate that with fine dining.But we went with it and was pleasantly surprise, you can’t just judge a book by a cover.It also gave our experience a modern feel.Our waiter was quirky, and welcoming and knew what he was doing!We really enjoyed the sausage and truffle tagliatelle which was suggest by the staff at our table.All in all a great experience will be returning to try other delicious dishes.

Had xmas work meal here lovely food but a little slow on service

Eaten here many times over the years and enjoyed but not this time. We have nearly always ordered the same 3 or 4 dishes ,garlic prawns, calamari,sometimes mushrooms and then the anti pasta classic. Only to find today that the prawn dish had been reduced in size by 20%,as was the anti pasta only 4 bits of meat,and loaded with bread almost £13,calamari I couldn't say as this was a new recipe. So all in all a very disappointing lunch.

Average food, slow service which is to be expected due to the time of year but arrived at 6. 45pm and was still there at 10pm. Wouldn't go again.

Realy nice place especially if you get a table near silver st window. Enjoy the wine and the food and watch the world go by

After being hugely impressed with the vegan offering from Ask Italian in Newcastle we wanted to see if these high standards were available at their Leicester store. Overall this was a brilliant visit. Great service, great food and a nice atmosphere. Ask Italian has a dedicated vegan menu which helps massively so you can have an actual menu that you know is specifically designed for you. Furthermore, their plates arrive with these mini vegan stickers further confirming that what you are eating is in fact vegan! For starters, I went for their version of dough balls. Fantastic portion size which is always a massive plus and a brilliant start. For mains, I tried their Ragu which is made with lentils and is hearty and incredibly filling. A simple but brilliant dish. Deserts are always tricky when eating out and we often find ourselves going elsewhere but Ask Italian has an Orange & Chocolate tart which for me a massive chocoholic is a must-have! Special mention to Zuzanna who was helpful throughout and was always on hand if we needed anything, thank you. We shall be returning soon!

You can't really go wrong with ASK. A easy location, lots of seating, warm cozy, good food and drink... the service is always pleasant. I always choose here to meet friends as you can book online and it's a relaxed atmosphere. You always leave feel full and it's even better they do student discount. Love love love. Cheesy garlic bread all the way!!!

Good pasta. Like the risotto in particular. Can b a little slow when busy.

Called in here today for a lunchtime snack and really impressed.

Having travelled to Italy and experienced what genuine Italian food tastes like, I was let down by the lack of authenticity. It was very average and didn’t take me back to Italy at all. Having said that the staff were polite and the service was quick, it’s alright for a socialable meal but I wouldn’t visit for anything special.

Really great Italian place. Very clean and a homely feel inside. The waiter was really friendly and patient with us. Food was great and plenty of options to choose from. I'd definitely go again. Was great value for money as could use my meerkat 241 voucher!

It is a nice place. We were a mixed group and someone said the chicken was halal so there was something for everyone. No one bothered double checking. Food was good. Slightly different from what we had eaten in milan but tasted great so no complaints. Had a good time

Having ate at many Ask Italian’s, I would consider it one of the better chain Italian restaurants however the experience we had last night was really poor.

We wanted an early evening meal and settled on ASK which my wife uses on an infrequent basis. Very nice young lady looked after us and service was excellent. The white bait starter was OK. I had a pasta main with Italian sausage. I was a bit disappointed the sauce was fine but the pasta did not seem right. Our other main was Seabass which was good. As we were pushed for time we skipped desert. If I wanted an Italian meal I would always go to a true Italian rather than an English chain and this meal has not changed this thought. For the price we paid and the service we enjoyed it was reasonable value. We would still consider eating here again but perhaps not pasta.

Place was nice and the waiter serving us was knowledgeable and friendly. Toilets were clean. The only thing I would like would be more options on the menu, it just needs a little more.

Very friendly and cozy restaurant. The staff is very polite, the service is quick and the food there is incredibly tasty. I recommend it.

We came her for my friends birthday and I have to say we were sceptical to say the least as it’s a chain. We couldn’t have been more wrong. We were lucky as the weather was good we could eat outside, I never realised they had a little terrace.

I have been different outlets of ask Italian... This one seems to be serving packed food which they reheat on order

It’s good...I wasn’t blown away. The location is great, right near the city centre with plenty of bars close by. The decor was lovely and atmosphere was great (Friday night). The service was great and friendly. We had olives and calamari for entrées. Oliver’s were nice, drizzled in oil and garlic, still had the stones in. The calamari was also good. Albeit sliced very thinly, so it’s about 70% breadcrumbs to 30% calamari ring. But it was, good. Mains was the gluten free pea risotto which was delicious and fresh. The selection for gluten free was very good. The other main was carbonara, which was nice and creamy.

Visited with the family, age ranged from 83 to 19. The food was very good and great value for money. Staff were friendly and attentive. Great range for everyone including 2 vegetarians. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Great desserts.

Its been a place that has been in the city centre for years. The food is nice but sometime back the penne passana which was a favourite dish of mine was removed from the menu - not sure why!

Food really good, very good value, service awful. It's not that the staff were rude or anything, just clueless. We were just left at the start, no drinks, slow taking orders, we had to ask them to clear the table after mains, after were had sat there for 10-15 mins and so on......

How can they possibly get the recipe and flavours SO Wrong?!

Our first visit here. Came in for dinner, it was absolutely atrocious. Service at the start was quick to get us seated. Ordered two soft drinks, they came unrefrigerated. Once opened they were (to our surprise) flat. We had ordered a carbonara and sausage cannelloni with a garlic bread side. The carbonara was terribly bland, so bland my partner didn’t even eat half of it. The bacon in the carbonara tasted really fatty and sour. The garlic bread came cold and poorly presented. The sausage cannelloni was better, however, it still tasted like a ready meal and the salad side was limp and old. As well for £11.95 it is ridiculously overpriced. When the server asked if everything was okay we told her and her reply was “oh sorry sorry” which she then proceeded to ask if we’d like anything else. I said that we wouldn’t like anything else and she then took our plates away. We then waited 20 minutes thinking that she maybe was asking the manager what she could do or that she was preparing the bill, however, we waited so long we actually stood up in the end, ready to leave at the till and two members of staff just looked at us and kept walking around ignoring us. Finally a man came over and asked if we are okay. I asked for the bill. Our original server then started putting it through the till and I had asked if there’s the possibility she could remove one of the main meals from the bill - she ignored me. She continued and printed out the bill anyway. I had asked a second time believing she maybe didn’t hear at first. Her reply was “okay yeah well fine”. She was very rude and she threw the card machine in my face and handed me the receipt without saying anything. While walking out the staff gave each other a funny look. Never returning again and definitely do not recommend. A frozen Aldi meal is the same quality for less than a quarter of the price

This is a really friendly restaurant. We had originally booked for 1pm but asked if we could change this to 12 noon. There was no quibble even though they had a group booking in. We were greeted with fresh home made raspberry lemonade. The service was very friendly and efficient. The chicken lecca lecca is simple but delicious with 2 side dips and salad. My partner had garlic mushrooms which were steaming hot. We both had the beef rigatoni which again was very hot delicious and a more than ample portion. All washed down with a very gentle Merlot. For the high quality service, food and wine, it makes for a very reasonably priced meal out.

Lovely Italian restaurant located in the centre of Leicester. Has a nice little courtyard area at the back for when the weather is nice and a lovely upstairs dining area too. Service is always good and quick and most of the staff are very friendly and helpful. Great choice of starters, mains and deserts at a reasonable price. Always very clean and welcoming.

Called in for lunch whilst visiting the Richard 111 centre. Very nice pizzas on a thin dough, tasty and good value.

Great restaurant, even though it was very busy our waiter, Josh, was very attentive and joined in our banter with him and his manager. He went the extra mile with his service. If you are lucky enough to be served by him do leave a nice tip, as we did We will be back

Three of had an early dinner here. The service was very good and the food excellent. Will defiantly be visiting again.

Went here for an evening meal on a Friday hadn't booked and was shown to a table straight away. Waitress brought menus and asked if we had any allergies (which we had never been asked before). Didn't bother with starters but ordered a main course of pollo Milanese which was very nice with profiteroles for dessert. All in all can't really fault the place at all.

Attentive staff and lovely food made for a fantastic visit with my daughter especially for the chocolate pizza dessert! Thanks all.

food was ok. the garlic fries were prob the best bit. we found the service lacking. attention wasn't given and we were always having to chase our waiter for what we needed.

Nice restaurant, tasty food and very kind and helpful stuff. Prices are adequate to food quality and they are also accepting taste card which makes it even more attractive.

A great meal-fiorentina pizza and belly pork, delicious. Would recommend both. Service was extremely slow, it was busy though (perhaps unusually so) and very few staff visible. Overall a welcome break during a busy day.

Had a lovely 3 course meal here, food was served quickly for a Saturday night and was hot and good quality. This was my first visit to a Ask Italian and I will definitely return!

Great service. Looked after well. Staff came to ask if everything was ok. Even got an extra dessert! Love the starter of prawns and the honeycomb cheesecake is just amazing!

Food took an hour to come out. We were all very hungry.

Went to ASK Italian for Valentine's Day and we selected our meal the Valentine's Day menu. The Valentine's Day menu was fantastic, and I recommend to get the Carbonara outside of the Valentine's Day season because it's on another level. Their desserts are also delicious, including the cheesecake and the rum-soaked donuts. The decor was lovely, except for these strange round tables pushed to the corners which seemed odd. The staff were very kind and patient with us, would definitely return!

This is a very nice and clean okease to enjoy genuine italian food in Leicester, they serve the best pasta , i had the lobster and shring pasta and it was delicious .

The service here was really great, we felt so looked after. In fact my girlfriend and I were totally blown away by everything here. I've been in the up year now and you guys have be the coffee I've had since leave home which really blew me away. Starter main dessert everything was outstanding. Mocktails were not what we expected so the waiter was kind enough to change our drinks. Starters were delicious we had the mushrooms, garlic bread with balsamic onions and the famous butterfly prawns, all were tasty. Mains were also good the pesto pasta and the spinach ravioli. We couldn’t resist the desserts and went for the chocolate etna which was the best one, also had the honeycomb cheesecake which was ok and the blood orange tart was yummy too. Overall had fun atmosphere was good would definitely visit again.

Was a little apprehensive about this restaurant after reading the reviews but must admit we had a very good experience. We had a very warm greeting by a young girl ( didn’t catch her name). Mitchell took our order and was very professional and pleasant, our drinks were served promptly and we didn’t wait long before our meal arrived.The prices were a little above average but the food was excellent. All the staff were pleasant and all waved and said goodbye as we left. We would definitely return to this restaurant

The ambiance is nice, the food was pretty alright too, wouldve went back. But me and my friends are so thrown off by the service that we will NOT be going back. One employee named mitchell, a male with tattoos on his arms, had a a bad attitude from the beginning, basically an attitude that he hates his job and made us think three times before asking for the simplest things like a fork.
