Just tried to buy a bottle of nice wine as a present for a friend dinning at ask tonight over the phone and got told I couldn’t because of GDPR ! What a load of bull , would only be a GDOR breach if they saved my card details.

We dropped in for a quick bite at lunchtime and we hadn’t booked a table. We were seated quickly and we were able to order quite quickly too. We’re both plant based and we found quite a few plant based items on the menu…… We shared the THIS isn’t chicken dippers and the vegan Nd’juda pizza. Both were spot on!

Food not as good as it used to be. We have visited this restaurant many times over the years and been happy. Sadly not now. The lasagna recipe must have changed, please change it back, the Carbonara was dry, the Calzone was far too spicy. The service was awful. We have met the manager and the waitress from Rome before and they were and remain amazing. Another waitress who served us was rude, surly and impolite. I didn’t eat my salad (all items past sell by date) and she said ‘you didn’t like the salad’ I said ‘no’ she tutted and walked away. A family meal costing almost £80, not a problem if everything is as it should be. Disappointing

Really enjoyed our meal. 15 of us went to have a Christmas get together. All our food was pre-booked and the waitress came out with our food and called out our names to serve our food. Everyone thought the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient. Great interior and atmosphere. Would recommend.

Great late date night! Didn’t have a booking but that wasn’t a problem and we were welcomed by the manager. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food delicious - great job from chefs! Would definitely recommend.

Nice place. The building used to be an old Methodist church. Service is great here. Child friendly with a children’s menu and large children’s portions. Clean toilets.

Bad lightning, average food, not really worth it, although it was widely recommended. A food court type of restaurant, maybe ideal for kids and families.

If you ask for a piece of bread to go with your stew , you get a piece of undercooked bread served as a special dish costing over 6 pounds. Can you not simply supply some bread?! A small basket of bread to go with meals...at leastbwith a stew!

Amazing visit to Ask. Lovely place

Arrived late afternoon for meal with grandchildren, prebooked table. Service was good, food was freshly prepared and cooked, served in good time. Children certainly enjoyed theirs. Not our first visit as family live locally. very tasty meal, and attentive staff /service. Only downside, when busy gets very noisy as building is a former chapel with high ceiling, and sound reverberates. Regular visits from Just Eat & Uber Eats to collect takeaways ; so maybe avoid sitting too close to the entrance. Having visited ASK in a number of different towns, the food is always good, like everywhere else though prices are climbing.

Fantastic Location kept clean and buzzing all the time with nice touch of candles at table. Service was really efficient and engaged. Food served very quickly and very tasty. The bites starter and pizzas are just the best in Town. By Far the best Restaurant in Town!

Always enjoy my visits to ASK Abingdon

The starter of garlic bread was tasteless and stodgy. The pollo proscuitto arrived just as we were about to go the kale was tough as old boots and underdone, the chicken was dry wrapped in ham which was overcooked. Had to ask again for the chips which had been left on the side and they were cold (NB we were not the only ones as there could clearly be seen that orders were incomplete). The mushrooms was the star of the show. The risotto would have been lovely if it had not been overloaded with pepper.

We dined here on Saturday evening, and sat outside. We do come here fairly often and I can’t fault the food. I highly recommend the cheese fondue starter and the chocolate gnocchi was amazing I hope they keep this on their menu!

Great family dinner , along with exiting italian dishes . The only downside was the wait for around 55 mins for the main dishes but kept nagging on the starters so we didnt feel it as much .

Went for the third time in as many months. This little Gem is in the pretty town of Abingdon which is on the river Thames, Ask is a short walk from the river. We arrived went through the protocol re allergies, comprehensive list provided. But a lovely well thought out marker, so the staff are aware, it was placed on the table. So sweet. See picture (heart) The staff were attentive, the kitchen is in full view so an experience in its self. So we’ll done and excellent hygiene practiced. Great team work. Nice restaurant in a lovely building in centre of Abingdon. Visited around 6pm on a Sunday night and it was fairly quiet. Staff were attentive and we were served quickly, had starters, trio of arancini especially nice, and mains. Meal was nice good size portions and price reasonable. There is seating outdoors but we sat inside, wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

The food is alright and the price is reasonable. The waiter kept dropping cutlery in front of us, which was hilarious.

Stayed in Abingdon for the British GP with friends and decided to eat out. Four of us decided to call into ASK and we were quickly shown to our table. For a Thursday night, this place was busy. Orders taken and drinks on the table very quickly and we tucked into some shared starters which were lovely. We all agreed the main courses were delicious too. The following Friday night, there had been a mix up with a booking elsewhere so our host called ASK on our recommendation and asked if they could cater for a last minute booking for 8. We sat outside as it was still very warm and again, we were very well looked after. The sharing courses and starters quickly served up to keep a hungry group going while waiting for the main courses. Drink flowed and it was just like being in the Mediterranean somewhere. This place is highly recommended by all in our group. Good food, superb service and great time.

Convenient location, great food!

Had a great experience at ASK Italian. It doesn't have as much personality and atmosphere as the local independent Italian restaurants, but was much more child friendly which made a big difference when dining with toddlers. The food is very good. Not amazing, but very good.

Very busy but good food and service

Great restaurant, very noisy and very busy, just what you’d expect at an Italian restaurant. Food was very prompt and very tasty. Staff were very attentive and professional. I choose the ravioli with mushroom and butter truffle sauce it was delicious but not much of it. Menu stated it would be served on a bed of courgette ribbons (they were very few in number and hard to find amongst the ravioli) thankfully I ordered a side order of broccoli which I thought was a tad expensive for 5 little pieces of long stemmed. All said though it was a very tasty meal in great surroundings, a perfect place to go with friends.

The pasta was under cooked (not al dente, undercooked) and I asked for no crayfish but extra prawns and they charged me more, despite no crayfish 🤷‍♂️. Flavour was nice, and my son and wife had no issues, so I think if you order the standard it's fine. No service to speak of.

We ate here on Friday night as a spur of the moment decision as it was warm enough to sit outside and the location is good to people watch. The food itself was very average for the price and came out very quickly, in my opinion the spaghetti carbonara was no better than a microwave m&s meal (although it was nicely presented and a generous portion size) The service unfortunately was very slow, not sure if they were short staffed but the main arrived before the starter plates had been removed, we had empty drinks without being asked for another and I asked for a glass of water when the main was presented and it didn’t arrive. We finished our meal and no-one came over to ask if we wanted anything else or if the meal was okay. In fact, I ended up paying for the bill on the QR as I couldn’t be bothered to wait any longer (and was parched) and we left the table with plates still present on the table. It was nice to see a restaurant busy but I’m really disappointed in our experience and unfortunately will not return. We’d have probably stayed for a couple more round of drinks and dessert if we’d been asked. Very disappointing

The restaurant itself is attractive but the food was average at best. They were very busy when we arrived but we were happy to wait and the service was fine. The food however was very disappointing, reminiscent of supermarket ready meals but much more expensive.

Friendly, fast service. Food was delicious, staff were attentive, although it was busy with Father's Day, we didn't have to wait long to be seen and have our orders taken.

Went there for a lunch with an elderly friend. It is very accessible for people with disabilities. The pasta was quite tasty and the staff were very friendly. However, the calamari was a bit too salty for me. Overall speaking, recommend!

We enjoyed a relaxed meal at ASK. As I am on a low salt diet, the staff provided me with their folder which explained the full nutritional content, allergens, etc of each item on the menu. I have not experienced such a wonderful facility anywhere else. Anyone with a food allergy or concern about dietary aspects should ask ASK!

We've been here a number of times, and the service has always been great. The foods are generally good in quality. The portion of the starter is small compared to the price paid. The quality of Butterfly king prawns is hit and missed - in our last visit, the king prawns did not taste fresh.

First time to Ask Abingdon even though I have lived here all my life but glad I did. The building was an old Baptist chapel but what they have done to the interior is exceptional. The food and service was very good and my wife...

What a waste of money. Ive had rubbery calimari and sent it back not to return then burnt chickeb for mains. Still had to pay full price even though had 3 pieces of the calimari and didnt est more than a bite of chicken but ate veg. Leaving with a bad taste in my mouth partly due to burnt chicken ans partly due to horrendous food. One good thing was the waitresses who were fantastic dealing with a busy resturant and several complaints. Its a shame as csme here for my brothers wedding few years back and has obviously gone down hill.

The fact that they serve Peroni Gran Riserva, which is hard to find outside of Rome, makes this place something special. The food was excellent as was the service.

We went on a Wednesday afternoon so it wasn't very busy. The food and service was excellent as usual.

The slowly cooked beef brisket pasta was absolutely delicious! Very smiley and polite personnel. Strongly recommend it!

I have had very tasty pasta with cheese and spinach. Desert was also delicious- brownie with the ice cream and dark , running chocolate on the top.

Pleasantly surprised! Huge portions, all well cooked and efficient service. Will definitely return. Didn't have room for dessert so will try that next time.

Food was good, but the plate I had burned me

I gone there for dinner and I got the Truffle Mushroom Calzone (which I forgot to take photo of) and it tasted excellent but it was a little hard to cut into pieces but other than that, I LOVE it 😃. I also had Chocolate Etna for dessert and it tastes AMAZING 10/10. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you like cakes and Italian food.
