Ask Italian in County Durham

We booked a party of 10 to celebrate a birthday and the whole thing from start to finish was fab!! We were seated and served immediately. Fresh lemonade tasters to start us off. Drinks orders taken quickly and gave us enough time to look through the menu while still chatting to family! Staff were all amazing, Lee was a star! Will definitely be returning soon! Recommend 100%

Friday evening 9/5/25 Food was very nice. Bruschetta, carbonara , fresh pasta with beef ragu recommended. The two waiters were extraordinarily charming and chatty even though the place looked very busy .

We were looking for gluten free food two weeks ago. We ordered pizza, one of which was gluten free. My pizza was partially burnt, one was barely done and none of it tasted good. This was one of the worst pizzas we have ever had. The service was okay, but I can't understand the good reviews for the food. We will never visit Ask Italian again.

I don't visit frequently, but I like that the menu is fresh with updates as well as the expected staples. Good friendly service, I was part of a group of six, and the server gauged the atmosphere perfectly. Food was fresh and hot. Exactly what we needed no fuss, straight ght forward, good quality. Thank you.

Server Molly was fantastic! A credit to the Company

Nos mostraron a nuestra mesa en la parte delantera del restaurante y nuestras opciones de bebidas se llevaron antes de nuestras opciones de comida. El servicio era excelente y nuestra camarera era atento pero no quisquilloso. Si te apetece ir a preguntar.

Had a meal early one Saturday evening a few weeks ago in the Durham City restaurant, although quiet inside (only with it being early tea time), we had a lovely meal. I couldn't recommend Molly enough, she was attentive, kind and incredibly welcoming. Wouldn't hesitate to go back again. Definitely recommend getting the arancini trio starter and a special thanks to Molly for being our server for the time spent there. You're a great asset to Ask Durham!

Tuve una comida aquí y honestamente puedo decir que el plato de tomate que pedí fue la comida más insípida que he tenido. Tuve que poner un montón de pimienta para que fuera agradable al paladar. Con crédito para ellos, reembolsaron el plato y se esforzaron por arreglar las cosas ofreciendo un café gratis, pero realmente no estoy dispuesto a volver en el corto plazo.

Lee couldn’t have been more helpful and his team were very welcoming and service was excellent. Handled allergen issues perfectly, food was lovely and atmosphere great.

Had an amazing meal out here. Staff were both bubbly and friendly creating a pleasant atmosphere. Lee greeted us and made us feel welcomed and our server Ellie was chatty and made nothing seem too much.

It's a great, relaxed place to take our little one and the kid's meal deal is very good value. Thanks to Lee for taking extra care to ensure that my little girl's allergies were properly catered for. Plenty of options for vegan / dairy free.

Alex was amazing! Very patient with a large party of giggly 12 year olds. Service with a smile and very understanding.

Would've given 5 stars as the food is lovely and we had a great time. Only reason I've marked it down was because we had to wait 45 minutes for our food. Staff were apologetic and we were given free desserts, but I was starving by the time we ate!

Waiter and waitresses are very welcoming and polite, food was unreal, didn’t have to wait long for our food and the price is warranted, don’t live in Durham, just visiting however, would definitely recommend!

Molly and Ellie were so lovely. Really looked after us. There were a few mix ups with what’s vegan or not none of their fault but they sorted everything out for us everything sorted within 2 minutes

Have been dining in this restaurant since it opened and always enjoyed it. We dined there yesterday and what a disappointment. I chose lasagne but it was flat as a pancake, I struggled to find any mince , no cheese or white sauce! And charged £16.95. Come on Ask you can do better than this!
