Asian Fusion Restaurant in South Lanarkshire

Although we used takeout many times, this was the first time sitting in. Welcomed by Eugene who was pleasant and showed us to our table and recommended a few options . three courses for £19 good value. Nice decor and very attentive staff.. Mata Hari will now be our go to Chinese restaurant.

Was approached by a nice man when wee come in Eugene was his name helped me with the menu in picking the firecracker chicken which was really good starter was really good as well tender ribs very comfortable seating and nice surroundings..will definitely be back very happy customer

Took my mum out for a birthday meal tonight and decided to try Mata Hari for the first time, I can 100% say we will be back the food was amazing! The restaurant its self is very beautiful and clean. The staff are soo lovely and very attentive, we didn't wait long at all on the food, 4 starters 2 mains and 2 sides and each of them were divine, cooked to perfection and fantastic portion size, the flavours burst in your mouth. small details of helping you with plating rice and chow main, giving and opening hand wipes when having the spare ribs all stood out, the service and food over all was 10 out of 10, we would highly recommend them! the music was also an added bonus as i adore bts and rarely hear the members music here in the uk and at the fact i got to enjoy an amazing meal and great atmosphere with beautiful music made it all the better. Thanks for a lovely night, look forward to dining again soon.

Absolutely amazing food and service. Such a shame we don't live closer (staying a couple of nights in a nearby hotel) as I'd love to return. Such a beautiful restaurant with fantastic servers.

We tried this restaurant as we were staying nearby. It was very busy, but they managed to squeeze us in, the staff were very attentive and worked tirelessly to ensure not only our table but all tables were looked after. The food was divine I wish I could have eaten the whole menu as it was that good; will return when we are next in the area. the decor of the place was fab too.

Ordered and paid for a delivery having been here many times for lunch and dinner and loved the experience. Ordered through the app and money taken immediately and order confirmed. An hour and a half later my husband phoned for an update and was told that the order had left and would be with us shortly. Forty minutes later I called and, after several minutes of holding, was put onto someone who told me that the order was placed for pick up and I’d “made a mistake”. When I explained that my husband had been told beforehand that the order was in its way and was confined it was to be delivered, he dismissed this and said he “didn’t want to waste time- do you want the order or do you want a refund”. I was so taken aback by the lack of ownership, an apology and the whole “blame” attitude. Nothing I have ever come across in the restaurant on the many times we’ve been there or any other establishment. Overall disgusted by the attitude of, I assume, senior staff as I was passed to someone else. So disappointing and unnecessary when a simple apology would have gone so so far.

Got take away tonight as we have eaten here before and food was nice, not tonight quality of food very poor loads of fat left on the duck, chow mein was tasteless and meat was not nice

Can’t fault this place. Been many times now and you can’t beat the set menu for value and quality. Very popular and busy little place even at lunchtimes.

Starter was way too salty had to send it back and get something else. Challenged the bill as they had charged us for an additional and they looked at us as if we were trying to do them. When we left they never even said goodbye, wish I’d gone back and too the tip I left off the table

No vegan options. Communication difficulties with staff. Vegetarian menu but when asked if any dishes had dairy/ eggs, told by waitress no vegan options as 'vegetables cooked in 'same pan' as chicken'. Very confused and staff didn't understand nor willing to accommodate dietary requirements.

Food was absolutely excellent, I got Malaysian mixed meat fried rice which was the best I've tasted , everyone else at the table were also impressed at the quality of the meals. On a down side there is no ambience whatsoever , it feels like a big school dining room , decor is also very poor.I found serving staff were very irritating , taking your plate away immediately your fork went down , and watching consistently until you were finished. Also poor selection / knowledge of available alcoholic beverages . We asked a question about the rose wine and no one knew ,they also didn't have any flavoured vodkas ( and when I enquired I was met with a very rude retort) May return but staff need to relax their over active attention and plate clearing .

Everything is on the same level with no stairs so it's great for anyone with mobility issues. Accessible toilet is big enough for a wheelchair user and everything looked clean. For a Tuesday it was busier than I expected and by 7.00 o'clock they were full. The staff were busy and the service was good considering how busy they were. I had the hot and sour soup and it was pretty good, not quite as hot as I really like but much better than many I've tried. I also had the chef special mixed meat chow mien. I had 3 large prawns and a good portion of beef, chicken and char sui but I thought there could have been more noodles. I sampled the Kung Po and Szechuan and thought they were both good, the Kung po was sweet and tangy and the Szechuan had a pleasant kick to it. I'll happily go back and try other dishes as there was a lot on the menu I wanted to sample, if they did a buffet night I'd be delighted.

This restaurant was recommended to me and they weren't wrong, from the moment we walked in the staff were happy to do any thing for you, sevuce with a smile from start to finish. The restaurant is well decorated and very inviting, seats comfortable, and very clean. Quite a large menu to choose from from Thai to Malaysian and more, take your pick am sure you won't be disappointed. I had the chicken noodle soup to start can't vault this at all, tasted amazing, noodles fine and well cooked, chicken in strips and very tasty. My main was chicken curry with fried rice, again rice spot on tasty lots of it, and the curry was full of flavour I had onions in mine but you had the option to have without, again plenty of it. I was stuffed but had to eat the lot couldn't leave it. It was that good we have booked a party for the end of the month.

You must try this out. This is the best meal I've had out in such a long long time. £13.50 for the starter and mains (up to 8pm) is an absolute bargain and without loosing any quality. Honestly... I'm typing this just after I've finished and I'm wishing I had the room to eat it all over again 😁 Give it a try... I'll bet you'll not be disappointed. Cheers Buzz

We ordered 2 meals plus noodles plus fried rice . Fried rice did nt Arrive when we phoned up we got told it wasn’t ordered which it was then when we said it was ordered we got told have a good night . Shocking

Visited here last year whilst visiting the area. On another short break in the area we visited again and it was as good as we remembered. Very prompt friendly service. Great reasonably priced menu. Food is amazing. Will definitely be back ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is my regular place for take away and sit in! Very nice food , restaurant a bit crowded overbooked for my liking and some people just totally ignoring the little social distancing that was in place and available.Service a little slow purely down to the numbers but the food was good all courses very nice no complaints would like to return and try again when some normality returns.

went for dinner to the restaurant on a Monday night. on arrival before we walked in I could see the restaurant was crammed, understandable due to the 50 percent off scheme but there was no social distancing and no hand sanitiser making me feel really uncomfortable and unsafe as the restaurant was packed. overall the food was lovely and the staff were nice and friendly but won't be back anytime soon due to the lack of following the covid 19 guidelines.

Disappointed to see the restaurant jam packed tonight. Entrance way crammed with people while others had no choice but to push through to leave, people had to squeeze between tables/chairs just to get to their table, no sign of sanitiser on arrival and, most importantly, they didn't request any details to meet their track and trace obligations. We stayed out of misguided politeness but wish we hadn't.Usually love this place but would recommend avoiding right now.

Very disappointed with the highchair, the straps were coated in food and the foam was all burst. The food and service was great otherwise. Would advise on all plastic highchairs for easier cleaner. Rating is purely based on highchair.

First of all, great food as always and the staff were great in terms of normal ‘customer service’. Value for money can never be questioned and we have been plenty of times before lockdown. But NO COVID measures or social distancing measures have been adopted and the restaurant is cramming in as many people as possible. I’m pretty certain tables will be <1m apart at times and the number of people made us feel pretty uncomfortable and we probably should have left. Staff made no effort to keep their distance and minimise cross contamination by passing items between each other which is increasing touch points. No one way systems, no screens, no paper menus etc. The only measure we could see adopted was staff with masks. The waiting area at the entrance was busy with people standing side by side which is crazy during these times. Really disappointed as the restaurant is clearly putting profits before customer safety. The local council or similar should be stepping in here.

Not surprisingly the restaurant was packed with people taking advantage if the 50% discount government scheme.Eating out with family, 8 of us.We all had starter and main. I would always try my best to support a restaurant through this tough time but I genuinely felt so uncomfortable during my meal that I wanted to voice my opinion I was meeting up with close friends that I have not seen in 6 months due to covid. We booked the restaurant at 1915 when we arrived there was people everywhere... we advised the staff we were here and waited outside only to then come inside when it had calmed down a little. It was absolutely jumping , no order at all. I felt so claustrophobic. The staff did have masks on but apart from that I couldn’t see any other safety measures in place. There was no host on at the door taking track and trace details and I find it hard to believe that everyone in the building had booked as it was manic. They sat us at a table for four when there was 5 of us so we were packed in. We complained and got moved to another table. We didn’t get seated and ordered until 1945. The menu’s which I have attached a picture of were disgusting. These had clearly not been cleaned. I was ready for going home but having not seen my friends in such a long time I didn’t want to ruin the night. When the food arrived it was lovely and the staff were really friendly however I am really disappointed in the lack of effort towards social distance and keeping people safe. I have been to many restaurants since lockdown and they have all been amazing. One way systems, paper menu’s , spaced tables. This is the first restaurant I genuinely did not feel safe. It felt as though they were just trying to get as many people packed in as possible and the care of the customer did not matter. I certainly won’t be back.

Visited Mata Hari for the first time today. Restaurant decor pleasant and modern, tables well spaced, toilets clean with alcohol hand gel in place. Ordered the lunch option which at £10.50 for 3 courses was great value for money. Staff are welcoming and efficient. Witnessed tables being cleaned to a good standard. I hope all the people paying by card are good enough to leave the staff a tip. Often “overlooked” when paying by card. Would recommend this restaurant.

First rate Chinese/Thai takeaway. Good quality chicken, duck and ribs. No complaints. Keep this standard up.

This has easily got to be one of my favourite sit in restaurants to have a chinese, staff are friendly, food is always delicious, warm and quick, never had to wait longer than half an hour for my food, and the food is always warm! And it’s reasonably priced. But the takeaways on the other hand aren’t very good, it’s like they put more effort into the food for the customers in the restaurant and just throw out the food for the take away customers, much prefer to sit it

Returned to Asian Fusion after some time away from disappointing food. Was pleasantly surprised with the food this evening, which was delicious. Please don’t pay the extra £2.50 for Thai crackers as you won’t get them. You get the bog standard prawn crackers. This happened numerous times in the past. Glad to see this issue is consistent.

Moved 5 months ago closer to the Village and discovered this place,HIGHLY recommend the food and value!

First time trying this restaurant. It was a Friday evening and it was maybe half-full. Everyone seemed to be seated at the one side of the restaurant- don’t know why, it would have been nicer to be more spread out- save hearing other conversations!Service was very efficient, in fact too efficient, I prefer to take my time out for a meal. Couldn’t fault my food. I had butterfly breaded prawns to start, which were lovely. Main course was great too (can’t remember what it was!). We both had rice and there was plenty of it. Nice bottle of wine too. All in all it was nice but not amazing.

Listed vegan options, planned to go here specifically and got turned away at the door. What a waste of time, as well as getting my hopes up for trying a new cuisine!

So that's exactly what it is, it's some Chinese, Thai and Malay foods.The waiter was polite but no too helpful with the ordering. Out for my wife's birthday.I had tom yum soup and wife had prawn dumpling soup to start. Both soups were ok, nothing special.My wife had beef green thai curry which she enjoyed but found the meat a bit chewy. This used to be a great restaurant but sadly it has deteriorated. Food looked like it had been left over from the day before.

Been on holiday for 2 weeks and no curries! So for dinner I had chicken curry, fried rice and salt and chilli chips. Amazing!

When we realised this was a chinese restaurant we couldn't be bothered going out again to look for one so decided to stay. I liked the large restaurant but asked the waitress did she know who Mata Hari was?? she didn't and I told her she was a Dutch concubine and exotic dancer. She told me that it meant Sunshine and Light, I think she said, her English was not so good. Anyway my starter of pancake with small dipping pot of good curry sauce with couple bits of chicken and few chickpeas, was really good and thoroughly enjoyed it as did my husband who had the prawn cocktail which was a large portion. He took a beef dish with pickled vegetables and thought it was ok. I had the lamb chops salad and chips and portion of noodles. The bowl of chips were cold and not very nice tasting, maybe the oil used. Worst chips ever had so we sent them back and a new bowl came out but only difference they were hotter. Chips tasted like reheats, and not nice at all. I liked the food and the ambience and the service was quick, in fact too quick as was unsure on what to order and felt I was lagging behind so just chose the lamb? I would definitely ask them to change the chips or the oil or something as they were awful, and its not like my husband to send anything back but he says no way he could eat them. That was the only disappointing thing to say. yes I'd go back and have the same starter but ask for more time to choose my main meal.

We stumbled across this restaurant during our recent stay at the nearby Torrance Hotel. We were very pleasantly surprised! Good attentive service, lots to choose from and last but not least very good food. I specially recommend the softshell crab starter...😋

Food and service were good but we were a little bit disappointed with the rice portion. We ordered three portions of fried rice and one chips, when they brought the food three of us were given two spoonfuls of rice each and then they took the dish away. They had the cheek to charge us £9.60 for three portions - or six spoonfuls of rice. Why would you spoil a nice meal by doing that?

This was our first time eating here and it did not disappoint! Staff were very friendly and the food was absolutely outstanding! Gluten free menu is also available which is great as my son has coeliac disease. Will definitely be coming back!!

Been here on numerous occasions over the last 2 years and had both takeaway and eat in. Love the chicken and sweet corn soup and every dish I have tried has been excellent. Lunch menu is good value and even when extremely busy service has been excellent. The sound from the speakers in the restaurant is brilliant and this quality of sound system is wasted in here. Travel 30 mins to get here but worth the journey every time.

Having used them before and thinking this was the best Chinese within East Kilbride,we have now had two very bad experience since changing from Asian fusion. Our first issue they mixed up our order and delivered boiled rice instead of fried rice. When we called about this we were told we would need to pay for delivery again for this to be sent or we would need to go pick it up. So my partner went and collected and we thought this was ridiculous after spending alot of money on our take away. We then never used them for a while. We then decided tonight we would try again, we called and placed our order which was the read back and confirmed. This take away cost us £35,when it arrived the order again was wrong. Having only delivered 1 rice instead of 2. We called and made them aware of this and was told that we ordered it wrongly. We explained that the man read it back and confirmed but they still advised we would need to pay for the rice we had already ordered, but they would wave the delivery charge... I would like to hope so. Still not happy that we had to pay for the rice we had ordered and we will most definitely not be using this place again. My rice has now been delivered but the rest of my dinner is cold. Very very poor service and customer service, didn't seem like they bothered at all only concerned about the money.

Ordered twice from here and both times the food has been hot, tasty and very reasonable. Will definitely use again.

We ordered a carry out from the restaurant I had a fillet steak dish. Meat was tough and not great I did not finish it my wife had a Malaysian chicken dish the main ingredient being onion ! Not a great tasting dish. My wife did not finish hers either. So all in all a bit of disaster and disappointing. We will not be eating from this restaurant again.

I'd heard a lot of good reports about the restaurant so decided to give it a try. It looked stylish and tastefully decorated, but best of all, the food was wonderful. I ordered muscles in a spicy sauce, which more than lived up to the description! They were brilliant, as were my husband's prawns. To follow I tried a Thai dish with mangos, and it too was beautiful. The entire meal was also great value. The drinks were too. I ordered a French Martin which only cost £5.50, and was delicious. Best of all there was no 'gloopy' aftertaste you sometimes get with this type of food. Wonderful restaurant, and I look forward to coming back!

Did you know that almost all of the Chinese/Thai restaurants/take-aways in east Kilbride are closed on a Tuesday? We had eaten inside the Mata Hari but never had a takeaway until last night. Good menu with plenty of choice. Reasonable price. We had salt and chilli chicken, shredded chilli beef, salt and chilli chips, soft noodles and fried rice. Good size portions. The salt and chilli chicken had a lot of chillies in it - tasty but on the hot side. My girls love salt and chilli chips and have had them from lots of different places but they agreed that these were the best they have had (I have to agree). Shredded beef was nice if a little sweet - it actually had pineapple in it. Three main meals and three sides came to just under £30.

Ordered the three course lunch menu getting a prawn cocktail, orange chicken with fried rice and then chocolate fudge cake and ice cream. Prawn cocktail was too dry, the prawns were either still defrosting or of poor quality as they were just chewy and disgusting. If you want to eat rubber like chicken go here. And the bonus here is you don't get any sort of a good gesture like service for example, no choice of getting something else, or even a reduction on the food bill. Chocolate fudge cake was just disappointing, better off at Gregg's. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Visited in a Saturday afternoon. table of 15. The initial service of menus and drinks was very quick after that the service was very slow. During our starters an unsightly bigoted march passed by the restaurant, all dressed in orange. The staff spent more time watching this that serving patrons. The food itself was very good. I had orange chicken (lol) well cooked very moist and sauce was excellent.

3 of us visited this restaurant on a Friday night at 7.30 pm and it was totally full, so we were very optimistic. How things can deceive! I think that the best way you could describe our visit was "interesting". It is quite dark inside and tables are crammed together. By 8.15pm they could have shut up shop and gone home - it just empties. The drinks order was taken quickly and menus followed. Starters were the most bizarre and, not the most pleasant, of sharing platters (that was one skinny chicken for that satay) and duck spring rolls which were served on a very strange mix of very finely chopped raw veg. Not the best. Main courses were a mediocre Lemon Chicken (believe me, my daughter tries it all over so she can compare...she does eat lots of other things but really likes to compare and contrast this dish), Beef with black pepper, which again had macerated vegetables and was quite chewy, and a Malaysian Chilli Chicken dish that was just edible again with chopped up vegetables, rather than big chunks of pepper and onions that you normally get. The bill was £80 which I don't think represents value for money at all. We believe they have a car park but we used the one on the Main Street past the Co-Op which is really handy too. It was an experience but not one that we will rush to repeat. There are many Asian restaurants in Lanarkshire and Glasgow to choose from.

Great pre theatre menu food is excellent and always hot. I would recommend this Resturant . It's always better to pre book as it can be busy.

First time dining here and from the outside, it looked promising but when we entered it looked very different.

For any occasion the Mata Hari is the place to go. Great variety of Asian food and friendly informative staff. The prices are great value and the choice of wine excellent

Excellant place to go for lunch. Everything piping hot and good service, We will be back. Parking can be a bit of a problem small carpark round the back
