Ashoka - Southside in Glasgow City

Another lovely meal at the Ashoka Southside. Good food, really tasty & we were well served by our waitress Sara.

Takeaway was great, everything tasted lovely and service was also good! Only gripe is the pakora could have been warmer. Would fully recommend.

Went in short notice and were accommodated right away, service was quick & friendly. Really enjoyed our food, although I did order 'hot' curry and it was very mild, would recommend overall though.

We decided to nip into the Ashoka for a cheeky curry last night. MoMo was lovely and did a great job of looking after us, clearly very experienced as she took the whole order, correctly, without writing anything down! Hubby's king prawn starter was absolutely fabulous & delivered to the table on a sizzling hot plate. I had poori with garlic mushrooms which was very tasty (but I preferred the king prawns lol). See attached pics. I had to zoom in on the prawns but my pics still didn't do them justice! We had chicken tikka butter masala, rice and garlic nan which again was all gorgeous but I forgot to take a picture of all that. Quieter during the week compared to weekends understandably but the tunes were good so no complaints from me.

Beautiful restaurant with exquisite food good portions lovely environment. Staff were so friendly Momo couldn't do enough. A delightful experience. Will definitely be going back.

Ordered food for delivery, it was half hr late but the lady on reception assisted us very well and made sure our food will be still fresh and hot. worth waiting for due to delish taste and flavours. Will be ordering again definitely.

Don’t bother with main courses as they are rubbish. Shane because starters and sides etc are very good. Overall, if you choose wisely they are decent value for money. Stay clear of chicken breast as over cooked.

The meal was absolutely phenomenal. Both curries were full of flavour. The atmosphere was great and staff were very attentive as always. The chicken tikka dhaba curry 10/10. Can’t wait to come back.

Order took over 2 hours to arrive. Called 3 times and each time was told order was on its way, and that it hadn’t actually left before . Missing item when finally did arrive. Was assured a refund from the manager and still awaiting just eat or Ashoka to deal with this .

Staff were so welcoming & food was delicious.

Almost an hour late and despite calling no confirmed time for delivery. When it arrived was cold and a garlic naan had been sent instead of a plain naan and no veg pakora was sent. All in all very poor. Fully appreciate there was a red warning for a storm earlier but better not to take the order if it can’t be fulfilled properly rather than take it no matter what.

Wouldn’t order again. Food took over an hour to arrive. I ordered a saag tofu, what arrived was chicken. Not great.

Food wasn’t hot, chicken pakora and chips were dry and over cooked. Macaroni cheese was stodgy and tasteless, the lamb pardesi was very nice however. Disappointing overall after paying nearly £30 as a treat.

Got a collection take away and one of the breads was forgotten. 2 mins on the phone later and it was on its way to us. Food top class as always. Service to match.

Only small issue was that they forgot the pakora sauce which was a bit disappointing, but otherwise, delicious food and arrived warm and on time :)

The Ashoka used to be our go to for a curry but hadn’t used it in such a long time. Feeling nostalgic we ordered but wished we hadn’t. Ceylonese was very watery, the fried rice was just weird, chips were soggy and the pakora was hard. The naan bread and poppadoms were the only decent items. Shame.

Didn't even taste like curry. Chips the size of small fries macd's. Nan not cooked properly. Would say I was totally ripped off.

Ashoka has been my favourite restaurant for years and the food is always amazing. I can't recommend it more highly and the delivery man was simply lovely. 10 out of 10 and always for Ashoka!

Absolutely disgusting, food arrived via UberEats and both chicken dishes the tikka Karahi and the tandoori chicken had green spots through the meat. We are appalled and disgusted and we have had to bin all of the food. We called the restaurant who said it was fenugreek leaves in the marinade, however the green colour was on the meat itself. I don't understand how this could have been overlooked by the kitchen staff during preparation/marination of the chicken - quite concerning and needs to be looked into. I suspect that there will have been other orders today that have that same batch of chicken.

Delicious food. Freshly cooked and great quality. The service was a bit slow but we were in no rush. Good sized portions. Staff were very friendly.

My first time here was in the summer. Had such a delightful time and I’ve been back many times since! Iv brought family and friends to the Ashoka Southside in the months since too and all have been very impressed. The food is delicious, plentiful and very reasonably priced. The staff are so friendly and attentive and the restaurant itself has a lovely welcoming vibe. The food really is wonderful, the platters are amazing and the fish pakora and lamb chops are to die for! Well done to all the team at Ashoka Southside! 👍

Chicken was hard and tasteless. Ordered 1 bottle of pinot Grigio Parigi 12% white wine as advertised on the restaurants wine list at £15.95 Driver arrived with a cheap bottle of I heart pinot Grigio at 10.5%. and charged at same price £15.95

Oh dear. We've been 3 times now and won't go back. The tandoori food is good. The curries are all bland and not even a hint of heat! The base for their sauces is coconut milk and is claggy and oily. Put me right off. Tasting oil over food is a big no no. Every dish tastes the same no matter what it's called. Please serve some vegetables with a curry and improve it. Lamb curry is about 5 chunks of meat. Where were the onions, some veg or anything... just claggy coconut milk. Not nice. The naan bread was nice though. Staff are nice but sorry food is just not authentic.

I visited the Ashoka a few weeks ago and was really impressed. It's lovely inside and the staff were very attentive and friendly. We had lamb chops, tandoori prawns, meat feast platter and curries to share. The food was absolutely delicious, and the curry in particular is the best I have had in a long time - cooked by wonderful chef Afsal, thank you Afsal! I will definitely be back :)

Rice dish not included with our order ( which we had requested). Phoned to complain but told it would take at least 30 mins to deliver!

First off, everything was cold. The chicken was rock solid, cooked to oblivion. The prawns were supposed to be fried in breadcrumbs but looked like they’d been regurgitated by an old cow. Ordered butter chicken for my kid and didn’t feel comfortable giving it to her due to the quality of the food we ordered for ourselves. Everything looked and tasted like it had been sitting under hot lights for 3 days. The staff have been really rude on previous occasions and I genuinely can’t remember a time when I had a good experience here - maybe 4 years ago. Just do yourself a favour and don’t order from here.

After getting a number of takeaways from the Ashoka Southside we decided to pay a visit on Sunday, late afternoon. The food was absolutely perfect, and everything is clearly marked for vegan friendliness, which was a bonus. Definitely the best curries in the southside - well worth a visit. We'll be back!

The place was busy but we managed to get a table at the last minute on a Friday evening. Lots of vegan options, we had Vegetable Biryani and Vegetable Jaipuri. Both so tasty. Out server , Sumi, was excellent. We’ll be back.

Been going here on and off for 10 years, and I would honestly say its at its peak just now, but then who can say the peak will end....

the tikka was bland as if was rehet from day before . certainly did not taste fresh was very tough to cut through. the rice tasted a bit funny also .Found it strange how 2 dishes were very warm and 1 was look warm ?? I don't think I'll be rushing back any time soon .

Last time I ordered lamb chops, I received lamb loin chops 👍. this time I was sent meatless gigot chop bones 👎

Over priced dinner with an attitude. I phoned in my order the guy asked me if could wait a min or two as both computers were being used he then came back talking to me at 200 miles per hour I hardly understood a word I gave him my order 2 very very small starters (4 pieces of veg pakora £4.75 & the exact same with chicken pakora) & I asked for chicken tikka South Indian garlic chilli and received chicken breast my mrs got lohori grilled salmon I also asked for a garlic & cheese Nan I received a soggy doughy garlic nan with no cheese. I went to pick it up the guy said it was £70 something pounds so I said I think there is something wrong there that’s a bit much he ran through my order & he had gave me 3 lohori grilled salmon I said I only asked for 1 no you asked for 3 he said I told him I can guarantee him I asked for 1 no he said my wife was on the phone to me at the same time as I was taking your order & even she remember he said. Now I ask how can you even be listening properly when you are talking to someone else at the same time as taking my order but somehow it was my fault. So then he said we’ll have made 3 now & I said I didn’t want 3 I want 1 he then gave me a bit of attitude told me to sit down will they fixed my order 3 min later said there is your stuff & changed me £44.10 for nothing more than overpriced below average food…As a reply to your Answer and excuses can I ask how can your wife have heard my order as you claim if she was on Bluetooth and on hold .

Went today for my birthday dinner myself & my husband , our food was excellent, we also experienced excellent service from Sumi , we will most definitely be back soon , we are vegetarian & there was plenty of choices which was a delight too

Wouldn’t order from here again sadly, food was cold, ordered chicken tikka it was normal chicken,only 6 bits of chicken in meal, the meal had a strange fishy taste to it and little to no spice for it being a spicy dish. 1/5.

Llamé y me ofrecieron un 10% de descuento en mi siguiente pedido, que rechacé ya que hubiera preferido tener el langostino tandoori esta noche.

Very poor customer service. The food took over two hours to come. They blamed busy traffic despite it being 8pm on a Friday in Muirend. The food was lukewarm and spoilt. Despite all of this they refused any refund. I will never order from them again. You've been warned.

Last Sunday chicken pakora was burned this Sunday Pompidoms were soft

Over two and a bit hours it took to arrive and food was cold and poor quality, kids meals were uneadeable, the box was melted that my seafood was in for the mixed grill. A horrible experience that ruined our families Saturday night.

Tried this place again after a long break hoping it would be better. Rice was stone cold. Curries weren’t what you’d call hot. One naan missing. Won’t be back.

We popped in without a booking and were welcomed with a warm reception. The atmosphere and lighting were pretty chilled. We ordered chana poori starter, saag paneer side portion and chicken tikka main meal. All the dishes arrived at the same time on request so we could share. Every bite of the meal was a delight. Enjoyed it all thoroughly. The chefs Veer and Raj are culinary wizards. Can’t fault a thing. The serving staff Farah and Sumi were both attentive and charming. We’ll be back. Oh n the vegan brownie was very good, not too sweet. Perfect ending to Friday night dine out! Thanks Ashoka Southside

Me and my partner love this restaurant so much! The food is amazing, the restaurant is super cozy and the staff are lovely. This evening we was served by Sumi and she was so attentive, friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend going to the restaurant or ordering from them online!

Two items were incorrect, unusual for this restaurant 😕

Ordered tandoori mixed grill with rice and Nan, no Nan in takeaway and the tandoori mix was the smallest we’ve ever had, bit disappointed

My starter was delicious, a prawn poori, but the rest of the meal was bang average. My main dish was meant to be chicken tikka option of a jaipuri but it was plain chicken, not tikka, and the flavour of the dish was very plain. The peshwari naan was like cardboard - water thin and bland. All in aside from the starter I would have been better going to Morrisons for a more flavoursome meal. Sad and disappointed.

I had an Indian garlic chicken take away on Thursday night . First of all it never looked like the garlic chicken I ordered the week previously. Anyway my partner and I were up all night violently sick We only had that meal all day/ evening I won’t be going back

Food was great but my experience was really made by a phoneomonal server Farah. She was so friendly and nice! She was also hilarious, I was crying with laughter at her jokes. Almost couldn't eat my food cause I was laughing so much! But luckily I could cause it was delicious. She was also super nice to my kids, they normally struggle eating out as they are so young but they felt very comfortable. My wife also has social anxiety and finds it awkward to eat at restaurants but because Farah made her feel so relaxed she has now overcome this fear and her therapist and I are both so proud of her! We tried to leave her a big tip but she said there are others who need it more so we should donate to them through charity instead. What an experience!

Really disappointed with our order as we enjoyed the Ashoka in the past as top restaurant quality food, tonight not too good, firstly the poppadoms were missing from our order which means the spiced onions we ordered to go with them were redundant, we ordered a cheese naan, but instead we got a plain naan bread, on the positive side the fish pakora and chicken starter were both nice although small portions compared to others, also small chewy king prawns in starter and main course(sm

Ordered the first time from Ashoka and probably won’t order again. Bhuna was ok but tasted nicer. The pakora was cold and quite hard.

Delivered super early but food not great. First time trying. We got 2 vegetable pakoras instead of one veg and one chicken, the fried chicken wasn't great and also the Rogan Josh didn't taste authentic enough. Won't be back, sorry.

Well what can I say this is the second d time I have not! Been impressed with my food from here and its strange as when you sit in the restaurant the food is good but the vegetable pakoras were very greasy and the rice I got to go with my main course was hard so it ruined my carry and ended up putting it in the bin so disappointed wasn’t the word so won’t be ordering again

Staff very attentive and joyous. Seem to enjoy working there. Food glorious. Abdul the chef absolutely fab. Seems to thoroughly enjoy his job. Constantly smiling. No stress just makes excellent food. Best pakora I've had in ages. Don't think about it just book. You will not be disappointed.

One item was missing from the order. When checked with restaurant they said they would deliver it. Waited for 1.5 hours, and when I called them they said they cant deliver nor refund. Also giving a mocking answer of providing it free the next time I order something!!

Took forever to come and when it did it wasn’t of high standard. The chicken korma was so watery and not thick or creamy at all. It also had no taste to it.

This is the best food in the southside of Glasgow first time ordering delivery as normally go in person and it was just as delicious as it is in the restaurant.... Only downfall is I had dishes to wash. Lol if you've not tried here before you've never lived!

I usually love Ashoka Southside - we’ve been to sit in a couple of times and have always had a great experience. First time ordering takeaway and the curries were very disappointing (again, we’ve had these before and they’ve been great!). Muttur Paneer and a Chicken Karahi that were both cold and tasted more or less exactly the same… way too creamy and no flavour at all. Veg pakora was nice though, and speedy delivery time.
