Consistently amazing food, warm atmosphere and great service.

A group of us had the early menu on Sunday and it was really good. Our food was fresh and very tasty also the portions were a perfect size . The staff were friendly and helpful as there was a big crowd but it didn't faze them a bit . I will definitely be back to Ashoka .

Went yesterday with my son and partner waitress was so lovely and welcoming popadoms and pakora were great but that’s all I can compliment. I ordered the chicken Chasni and o can only describe this sauce as as being similar in taste to a cheap jar of tomato pasta sauce and it was all lukewarm I managed two bites and knew I would t be able to finish. I had felt awful as the waitress had been so nice so rather than speak up (stupid I know) I called another waiter over and asked if my son and I could take the rest of ours to go. I was questioned and asked why and what is wrong with the food which in my opinion is so unprofessional I kindly explained I was just not as hungry at that pinot and wanted to take it home. He slouched off leaving the plates came back and just tossed plastic tubs on the table for me to do myself. I have done this many times usually because the food is actually lovely and I do t want to waste it and never have I been expected to pack it up myself i was mortified and so embarrassed. The next ten minutes while waiting to pay(after asking three times for the bill) were followed with glares from both the waiter who came over the second time and one of the chefs staring myself and family down until we could eventually pay and leave. After 1 hour I promptly threw up everywhere safe to say we will never return

Once again a delight to return to my favourite lndian restaurant, Great service and great food as l always expect it to be , mix up with the starters but was fixed immediately with a free starter , Well done to Momina and her staff again...Thank you and see you all again soon 😀

Ordered food for pick-up. Absolutely delicious. The coconut rice was a real treat. The staff were friendly and the food was ready exactly on time.

This is a great wee restaurant not only is the food delicious and freshly made to order the staff are very friendly. You feel like your just eating at home.

Absolutely delicious! I had the vegan saag tofu and some yummy coconut rice. What a brilliant combo would highly recommend! It’s creamy, flavourful and kept me full all night and another positive I didn’t receive any heavy bloating or pains like I would other Indian restaurants.

Very disappointing. Fish pakora starter was greasy , chicken pakora was ok. Main chicken dish was poor quality , tough , sauce was sweet and sickly. Too much sugar. They charge for chutney / pickle tray but don't mention that when you sit down. Naan was very greasy. The staff however were delightful and attentive. I had only been there once before and won't be going back. Too expensive.

What a lovely family meal we just had for mothers day. We had a vegan and 2 vegetarians and menu was clear and tons of options. Staff are wonderful, service with a smile and helpful. Overall, great experience and would certainly go again :-)

It was okay. Was a bit cold , Music was too loud. Used to be one of our favourite places going back over 25 years not now.

I got an itison voucher from one of my friends for my birthday. It was a 7 tasting menu. My sister and i went down on the 18th of February, and we were taken to our table immediately. The staff were excellent at all times, the food was delicious and i would certainly recommend this wee restaurant to anyone who enjoys indian food. We will certainly return in the near future

Waited for nearly an hour in the restaurant for food take out to then be told unfortunately they had no lamb chops and said they would replace with other meat which was just more tandoori chicken. !! Not the best Indian food we've had. Sorry but wont be back

Fabulous spot for a curry! We celebrated a 21st here. Table of 13…age range from 4 years old to 80 years old and everyone was catered for so well. The food and service was superb! Everything was served piping hot and was so tasty! The staff are very friendly, nothing was a problem! Wine reasonably priced also. Nice, varied children’s menu. Great night out!

Afifa and Sumi were absolutely amazing. They couldnt do enough to accommodate us. They got the chef to make me a dish that wasnt on the taster menu and was really tasty. Very warm and friendly environment and staff.

Takeaway last night was awful. Pakora hardly any veg, pompadoms stale and chicken tough, expensive midweek treat so disappointing! Won’t be back

We were welcomed straight away and served wonderfully by Afifa and Anurag. They were very helpful in suggesting a few dishes when we were uncertain on what to try. We were then served quite quickly and the food was amazing. The atmosphere was cozy and we never felt rushed or not cared for. We'll definitively be back again! Thank you to Afifa and Anurag for helping make this experience so lovely!

Food was great, portion sizes were perfect and Afifa provided friendly and attentive service!

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner this evening. The starter was a fabulous sizzling platter that tasted as good as it sizzled and smelled and looked! The chicken tikka masala was a quality dish with tasty chicken and a delicate sauce with perfect steamed rice. The staff were helpful and friendly and so smiley ! We will be back

Firstly, the service was absolutely wonderful! Staff were so polite and very accommodating. Very quick service also 😊 The food was absolutely delicious. We would highly recommend the chicken tikka or Bhuna! Portion sizes were really good. Great value for money. We will definitely be back!

Ashoka south side. Where to start. Booked initially for Christmas Day where was promised a glass of fizz on arrival. Upon arrival you were offered a mocktail. Only once I had questioned this and thankfully had my own copy of the menu, was this granted. 2 weeks before Christmas Day we were requested to pay in full for our meal. Understandable, but why was I asked to pay in full in cash? When I said I only had card, I was told the cash machine was just up the road. Seen other people pay by card, so don’t know what this request was all about … On Christmas Day we were sat at the seat beside the window. Food was enjoyable and would have recommended only for the fact they had over booked and took my dads seat away. We were left sitting like 3 wee crows sitting in a wall all squashed on the couch at the wall at our Christmas Day dinner. Staff were pleasant and we were understanding about the situation. The food is nice in the Ashoka, but usually luke warm. On Christmas Day I had to ask for my chicken to be reheated. Nothing comes to your table piping hot we have found on our multiple visits. As a thank you, we received a voucher for £10 off our next meal in the Ashoka. As January is a gloomy month, we thought we would take up the offer and go for a nice meal. Please see picture of voucher attached for reference. On the voucher it states that there must be a MINIMUM of 2 people to use this offer. Your staff member seemed rather confused, and stated that it could only be used for a MAXIMUM of 2 people. Also we ordered from the pre theatre menu. When we first arrived there was no mention of the pre theatre making this voucher void and this was only discovered when we went to pay. Your staff member went on to say that there was t and c’s to go with this voucher as stated on it, but upon request to view these, there was none. She said there was no t and c’s and that she would bear in mind and put this exemption on the voucher next time. It seems like the t and c’s are just made up as the day goes on. Our bill came to £87 so with the voucher it would have been £77, which is still a considerable amount. We usually leave a tip of at least £10 so therefore it actually woukd have been given back given the chance. I’m in the fortunate position where I have studied International Business Law and can herby conclude that this is breaking the law as you have failed to clearly state the t and c’s of this voucher. Your staff member stayed persistent that we were not to get the discount, therefore I shall not return to your restaurant. The food is nice, but not something that I couldn’t find elsewhere. I’d prefer to find somewhere that values my customer loyalty which from my experience in here, you don’t. A shame as this is a local restaurant and we had high hopes for it. Good food and within walking distance so what’s not to like but what’s stated above.

A little gem of a restaurant. Food was authentic and delicious. 4 of us had 14 tasting dishes comprising of 6 starters, 4 mains and 4 sides. There was something for everyone. Great value for money. Momina our server was really sweet and efficient, as were the rest of the team.

Quite simply the best Pakora in Scotland. The slight difference in heat between the sauce (pink/red) is mind-blowingly good. Best spiced onions ever. A must, if you ever visit Glasgow. Always served with a smile. Love it!

Small authentic Indian restaurant. Quick service and friendly servers. Expensive alcohol at £5.90 a pint. Vegetable pakora was fresh as was the Tarka Daal. Chicken Tikka was sizzling, rice plentiful and naan cooked as it should be. Restaurant was extremely warm.

Please don't waste your time dining here, much better places. Visited tonight with my grand daughter (who is a child). I ordered 2 x 2 course meals to share between 3 of us, as the child would NEVER eat a full curry. The very rude waitress barged over to us and said you cant order 2 meals between 3 people. She said you need to order a kids meal separately . I was mortified, it wasn't about money but simply would have been a waste of food and money. The child ordered macaroni, which looked and tasted like soup. When we paid our bill I asked "is that macaroni out of a packet" she dropped her head and proceeded to serve the next person. No answer or acknowledgement to was question was given. Extremely extremely rude!! I will never eat in this place ever again. Total rip off, staff most certainly need a course in customer relations.

Looks slightly uninspiring from the outside but fabulous atmosphere inside and excellent food. Staff extremely friendly and happy to take time out to have a chat. The menu is very extensive but that doesn’t detract from the quality of their food which was extremely well presented and tasty. Be prepared to take a ‘doggy bag’ home as the portions are large. All in all a fabulous night out with great food, great atmosphere and great staff. Highly recommended.

Ashoka South Side is a great place if you are craving for some nice Indian food. The curries have a lot of flavour and are not mellowed down - we tried the lamb as well as chicken both were equally delicious. In the bread section we had Garlic chapati which was nice too. They also have a kids menu which helped us. I would advise making a reservation as the place is quite popular and can get busy. There was Bollywood music playing in the background which added to the ambience. Would definitely recommend it.

Staff were pleasant and attentive. The meals were excellent and our family will be returning there in the future. ………..

We had dinner early this evening at the Ashoka Southside. Fabulous! The food was quite outstanding and all three of us had superb dishes. The Chicken Poori was certainly one of the nicest I’ve tasted and all three of our main dishes were excellent. My Lamb Lababdar was just a delight with beautifully cooked tended pieces of lamb in delicious sauce. Thanks so much for a real culinary treat this evening served by really nice people.

False advertising there is no star wars

Staff rude towards delivery driver. We should be shown just as much respect as customers and not shown bad attitude

Food was lovely . We ordered Tea for 2 people we got 1 small pot of Tea which gave us 3/4 of a cup each we were charged £6.40 for 1 small pot of Tea outrageous amount of money. We also ordered a soda water and lime were charged £3.90 . The prices have put us off visiting again such a pity as the Food and Service was good .

Went back after a few months and had the sharing menu for 2, which has 3 starters, 2 mains, and a choice of 2 rice or 2 nan or 1 of each. The meal was delicious, and the portion sizes were great. And the service was better than the last time. Definitely 5/5, and we'll be back

Pick up takeaway - I have just purchased a takeaway from Ashoka Southside tonight and I am sorry to say it was the worst takeaway I have ever had! I ordered pilu rice, garlic Nan, vegetable pakora, korma and a Chasni and chips. When opening the rice I was mushy and slimy not edible at all!. The pakora was that over done that I could not eat it as was burnt. This was such a disappointment sorry Ashoka I will not be back!

Good food, the service was excellent especially from the two young girls at the front, Farah and Safa who were very friendly & knowledgeable about the menu.

Great food, service and decor. Young helpful waiting staff and you get the sense the kitchen are passionate about getting the dishes spot on for each order. Dietary needs catered for carefully in the menu: gluten free, vegan options.

Thought I would just get a portion of Pakora to take away..Ordered the Pakora at the restaurant and I literally just sat down when I was handed my takeaway...Now my eyebrows were raised that fresh Pakora could get made that quickly from fresh. Once home my suspicions were correct...the pakora was Luke warm and stodgy..Also must have been only 4/5 pieces for the price that was also not acceptable..Look forward to hearing there reply

Every time we go to Ashoka South Side it is a delight. Afifa and the other girls are extremely efficient pleasant and helpful and the food is great. Recommend everyone should go and try the 7 course tasting menu.

The food was ok but waiting 30 to 40 minutes for a take away is bang out of order.

If ordering a carry out do it online rather than phoning, you can save 25% from website. Food always good. In the past the lamb was a bit hit or miss if tender or chewy.

Got delivery food cold when arrived although arrived quickly had to heat up the rice, lamb dish and pakora

We had a deal for the 7 course tasting menu and it was fantastic. Really lovely food, we weren't disappointed by a single dish and were suitably stuffed by the end. The service was very friendly and attentive too. We will definitely be back

Not impressed at all by Ashoka! Advertising 25% off takeaway online but would not apply it when we ordered the food. Would not apply discount when we collected the food either. Totally misleading and a scam! The food is mediocre and overpriced for takeaway without the discount, the onion badgies are more like flattened pakoras. Absolutely disgraceful!

Had a lovely pre theater meal with my wife For our anniversary. Food was lovely staff were great and the decor was nice. Waited a little longer for food as the staff were busy dealing with takeouts and other tables but they done great. Was worth the wait. We will definitely be back.

Nearly 2hours for delivery! One curry missing! Price high for what was ordered! Jalandhar didn't taste anything like what it should! Won't be ordering again!

Absolutely delicious - garlic corriander naan - one of the best we’ve had, Kathi rolls are soo tasty & the kandhari curry was really good- fresh, nice flavours and not like other takeaways we’ve had. Highly recommend and will defo be re-ordering :)

Went with a woucher deal for the 7 course taster menu. 3 starters 3 mains and 2 sides between us which was plenty. A selection of dishes we had never had before, all fantastic. Will definitely be back again, excellent service too.

My friend booked a table for the taster menu. I was expecting small dishes but was pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of the food. Friendly staff. It’s down to earth and cosy, definitely not flashy. Perfect for a cosy chat. Food was delicious. Would definitely go again and would probably do the taster menu again.

Such a shame to have to do this, as the food is usually delicious but the service is APPALLING. Twice I have ordered food, twice it has failed to arrive. Called the restaurant, sent an email, no answer. I think the problem is they accept online orders from too many platforms and fail to manage them.

Wish I could give -1 but …The driver was lovely she also was 20 minutes early, food wish I could say the same I had got a child portion not even an adult, it was chicken korma & rice the chicken it's self was raw and PINK in the photo I Have didn't notice it till Thursday night not been well since then and feeling more sick. Really not a happy customer don’t think I’ll be back. Update my boyfriend called up to complain and nothing was done about it part from apologising and saying how the chef didn’t check food befor it left for delivery x

Website is difficult to navigate. Ordered a meal for two and what I got was not what I ordered. Payment on the site was flawed so had to pay in store. Food is okay but would phone and order next time we online ordering is so poor.

First class ,friendly service Food delicious. We ordered 7 curries, each one had an individual flavour very high quality. Chicken and lamb melted in your mouth. Best Indian meal we have had in Glasgow Can’t wait to return

The 3 of us went for the pre theatre, but it was not offered on arrival. Service was prompt, drinks pricey at 6 quid. Poppadoms and spiced onion great, but I had to ask for more onions as the portion was small. Chicken panoramic was very good, fish and veg panoramic not so much. I chose lamb garlic chilli as it was supposed to be hot. It was medium at most but sweet and souring as described. Nans took too long to arrive after the dishes and the garlic nan was swimming in butter and garlic overkill. Meat content a bit on the low side and I would like to compare with the a la carte portion. So overall a bit mixed but in general OK.

We took advantage of an Itison voucher to try the tasting menu. We were guided through the menu by our server and chose items that we wouldn’t normally go for. EVERYTHING was delicious, I’m not usually a fan of aubergine, but it was melt in the mouth gorgeous! as was the chickpea dish. Staff were lovely, attentive and friendly. The basic question is always, would I go back. The answer is a definite YES

Tried the tasting menu which is available on Groupon etc. The food was fantastic and great information on the dishes given by the waiter. Would highly recommend visiting here. I will be back.

First order after a long time. I'm impressed with the vegan menu. Everything was delicious! 10/10 would recommend.

Last minute reservation for 4. Arrived early and still welcomed and seated quickly. Great selection of food, we had the deli chicken & chicken pakora to start with. For main courses we went for the South Indian Chilli Chicken and the traditional korma. The kids had the kids Korma and rice. Going for the VIP kids meal they had a fruit shoot and animal themed ice cream. Brilliant and tasty food (apologies food was gone before we took pictures!) Very friendly staff and amazingly tasty food well worth 5 out of 5 stars ! If your in the south side give it a try, brilliant Indian styled meals !

First time I'd been back in the Ashoka since last year. Same new owners but a lighter fresher feel to the place and a cracking menu. Lovely staff too. I'll be back again very soon!! ❤️

Cracking food and a great atmosphere.

Very nice meal here, service was excellent and the staff very polite and efficient. Lovely clean restaurant, tables set nicely. The only thing wrong was my dessert, I got the brownie with ice cream, (you pay extra for ice cream), the actual brownie was tiny.... It cost £3.99 on it`s own then £1.00 extra for ice cream. If they had came with the brownie on it's own I would have refused it as it isn't worth the money. All the food was however delicious, but dessert price spoiled the meal.

A first time visit for us both but will definitely not be our last visit. Got a deal on 5pm for 7 dish tasting menu. It was absolutely fantastic. The food was so fresh and oozed flavour. Quality of service was top notch. Our server was so lovely and very friendly taking time to chat away to us. Could not fault anything. A wee gem of a place.

Just had the most lovely 7 plate tasting menu at the Ashoka South Side Glasgow. The dishes were tasty & the care attention relating to service was superb! Will be back & would highly recommend!

We order Ashoka almost weekly. Their butter chicken is a masterpiece. My partner once asked me to choose random options between 1) not having Ashoka butter chicken in my life ever again 2) not having all pasta in my life ever again... and I chose the second option, as their butter chicken is TOO GOOD! I’ve wanted to say thank you so much for making this awesome food! :)

Visited last night after a 6 months gap since our last visit and the quality of the 7 course Taster was as good as before which was excellent. All food served hot and promptly. Taster just the right amount of each - I got an extra peshweri nan. Only wee problem was the the poppodam only had spicy onions dip and not the usual selection. We would gladly recommend all to visit the place.

It was ok, 7 taster menu, starters very limited and very little, would I use again, prob not, we see others got poppadoms spiced onions we didn't get this either, the review underneath was defo not what we got 🤔 maybe because we aren't drinkers it wasnt worth ur while, very basic, rations

Really disappointing. Ordered a vegetarian dhansak and paneer chana as a side. Firstly the veg curry was made with what appeared to be the frozen microwave vegetables consisting of sweetcorn, tiny cubed carrots, peas and green beans and 3 large chunks of potato really not what I expected. Secondly there was no paneer in the curry. I was really surprised as the meal including starters was £35. Definitely would not recommend and will go elsewhere

Ordered takeaway, one piece of chicken in my entire dish and a few mil of oil sitting on top of the curry, would avoid much better around Edit, to add the one piece of chicken in there has green spots Edit again - telling me to be more responsible, yous are the ones putting out mouldy chicken
