Ascona-Pelcomb Service Station & Ascona Fish Bar in Pembrokeshire

I called in to buy some items this morning and to get cash from the cash machine. A gentleman called Jay helped me as I had problems with the machine. I must say he was so courteous, helpful and honest. I hope he is appreciated by all the customers and staff who work with him. Thank you Jay.

Can’t believe the quality of the pie and chips are so bad - the pie crust was hard and the chips had been warmed up - can’t believe that they can serve this rubbish !!!

On arriving we were advised half of rhe items weren't on the menu. Waited over half hour for chips. Tables and seats were dirty and staff have no customer service skills.

Gave this place another chance, being in a rush. Never again. I said above the worst id had and that was repeated. Chips were dry, crispy and chewy. Fish for the price was small and made to look bigger with batter. At £21 it was a waste of money, i can get the same meal, better, for about 13 in Haverfordwest. Shot me if i go there again for fish n chips..

Turned up at 7.45, 45 minutes before their 8:30 closing time. Was greeted with a 45 minute wait despite the empty shop but proceeded with ordering as it was close by the campsite. As we were looking at the menu we heard one of the staff, assuming it was the cook, state that she was cooking nothing else as they were ‘closing soon’. The staff member at the till then changed the 45 min wait to only serving the food under heat lamps, aka a few sad pies, cold sausages and a fish cake that could easily have been there since the place opened! Decided the place wasn’t for us after that and went into Haverfordwest’s Moby Dick which was lovely. Thanks Moby, very nice service for much cheaper price with delicious food! Will not be returning to Ascona fish bar and certainly will not be recommending. Staff definitely need some customer service training.

Will never be returning again as the fish tasteless, chips were disgusting, gravy I think they tipped the salt into it and as gloopy as pva glue. 1 portion of chips were cold, no drinks with the childrens meals, forgot to pack chips and scampi so had to make another 7 mile journey back to get them to be told by the woman they fell out the bag when we watched the boy pack the last of the bag and roll the top so how would they fall out?! Sort it out Ascona as all your other garages are spot on but this is terrible service and also very slow Wont be eating there again

A coach of us had to stop here as the road was closed . 40 seniors used the facilities . They were very accommodating. Very friendly staff and very helpful. A big thankyou

Went for a takeaway, £7.50 for a small piece of cod, a bit pricey. Had small chips with gravy. Gravy was more suitable for tiling rather than eating. Hope the staff at this establishment have the legal certification to cook and serve food. Needs a visit from trading standards asap. Phoned up to complain and was told to bring the food back for a refund but we had already thrown the chips and gravy. Fish wasn't bad and needed to be at that price. Will never return and I am hell-bent on letting other locals know about our bad experience. These idiots should not be in the food trade.

I used to use this fish bar regularly before lockdown and the food was good. I've used it three times in recent months. The first time, the fish was dry and overcooked and the chips shrunken, dry, and pallid. The second time, I went later in the evening, and they were better, so I gave them another chance. Last night - what do you have to do to chips to make them this hard, dry, and leathery? Virtually inedible. And the fish was dry and overcooked again. I can only think they are reheating the previous day's left overs. It's a shame, because they could do really well there. Pelcomb, up your game or get a bad reputation.

We have had lovely meals at pelcomb garage and the gentleman in charge was always helpful. Unfortunately tonight's visit was terrible. It was before 7pm and hardly any food there. We were told they are not allowed to sell a king rib burger in a roll, the sausages were disgusting as if they had been there a long time and then just battered. I certainly wouldn't recommend a meal there.

Had 2 fish & chips curry sauce and a sausage & chips must say they were the worst we ever had fish was over cooked and the sausage well I wouldn't of fed it to my dog think it had been there all day when you travel from Tenby we were very disappointed

Sunday early evening (7pm) I looked at their website which stated 'Open 7 days a week til 8pm' so travelled 8 miles there to find it very much shut and in darkness, no explanation from the woman in the shop she just said to phone them when they're open!!! Wtf sort it out boys and girls and don't ignore your 'bread and butter' winter trade!

This is our local chippie, we've used it many times and in our experience the fish is always good - tasty cod in thin crispy batter and no bones. However, the chips are invariably awful. We've had decent chips from here on only one or two occasions, they're usually rock hard and inedible. Such a shame, we'd use it a lot more if the chips were improved.

We have been here regularly, but lately it's been getting worse.. Last visit was probably the worst fish n chips I've ever had. Chips especially were appalling, maybe left over from lunchtime?

The food has been lovely and the wait each time I visited has been fair but on each occasion I've visited, the staff taking orders have been rude and unapproachable. On more than one occassion, one particular young lady (staff) has spoken abruptly, rude and rolled eyes at myself and/or the people I was with. Everything seems a fuss and a hassle to her and it's very disappointing customer service. I'm not sure I'll be back again sadly.

We called in on our way to the camp site that we were staying at. Ordered Cod and chips twice, they cooked this in front of us then wrapped our meals. Upon returning to the site we opened the chips first to find them barley...

Quite honestly the food we received this evening was disgusting to say the least! We have been to this chip shop lots of times over the years whilst on our holidays and never before been served anything this bad. The chips this evening were swimming...

I can honestly say the worst fish and chips ever tasted. The fish didn't appear to be fresh, chips OK, how anyone thinks that mushy peas are smashed garden peas is beyond me though...

Great service , food brought out to the car, non greasy, quick service , definitely worth a visit ,, thanks

Had takeaway from here on the last evening of our holiday. Delicious, not greasy and a good portion size.
