An amazing Spanish high end restaurant serving high quality well presented dishes. We booked last minute for Sunday lunch, and my, we were not disappointed, Excellent meet and greet on arrival. The atmosphere and vibe inside is excellent, the service from all the staff is impeccable. Each dish we had was well presented and was like a MasterChef creation and perfect temperature for each dish ordered. We look forward to coming back at trying more of the exceptional culinary dishes on the menu. A vast select of wines to suit the palate of each dish. Good selection of cocktails. Highly recommend. Thank you for a stunning three course Sunday lunch Spanish style.

During our recent visit to Asador 44, we encountered both highs and lows which made our dining experience quite unique. On a positive note, the food was nothing short of amazing in terms of flavour. The atmosphere within the restaurant was inviting, and our waitress was incredibly pleasant, adding a warm touch to our evening. However, our experience was somewhat marred when the main courses arrived lukewarm to cold. We brought this to the attention of the staff and requested for one of the dishes to be reheated. Unfortunately, it returned cold again, which was disappointing. This could possibly be due to the difficulty in reheating root vegetables or perhaps because the sauce and plate were cold to begin with. Seeking to provide this feedback, we approached the manager, hoping for a constructive conversation. Regrettably, the response was less than accommodating, with a somewhat hostile reaction to our polite query, "What would you like me to do about this?" or "Maybe you waited too long before starting to eat?" It seemed there was a misconception that we were aiming to have our meal comped, which was not the case at all. Our intention was simply to provide honest feedback, as we did pay the full price for our meal without dispute (minus the one cold meal which the restaurant removed from the bill without us asking). Despite this hiccup, we believe in giving credit where it's due. The exceptional taste of the food and the overall good atmosphere of the restaurant are reasons enough for us to consider returning. We hope that our next visit will be even more enjoyable, with all elements of the dining experience meeting the high standards set by the food and ambience.

Spanish classics with creative touches and a touch of smoke. Absolutely delicious and staff are lovely. Cooking fish to perfection is never easy so very happy with scallops, hake and the creme Catalan was one of the best desserts I've ever had.

Birthday lunch for my son, we all ate from the fixed menu, the restaurant was pretty quiet this day, service was excellent. Duck and Rump steak were both well received. One of the best foodie places in Cardiff - cant wait to return to experience the evening atmosphere and fayre !!

We were lucky enough to be gifted a voucher as a christmas present and used it to celebrate our fourth anniversary - we truly couldn’t have asked for more! The food was spectacular, an incredible menu with so much choice and what we did order was beautiful, and service was warm and personable. We couldn’t fault the evening and thank you so much to the whole team for making our evening so wonderful!

Beautiful room with an excellent location in the centre of Cardiff, breakfast was beautifully cooked with a Spanish style. The lounge bar on the first floor with honesty book for guests is lovely with a stunning looking terrace. The weather was too bad for us to use, unfortunately

Visited for Valentine’s Day. Wow - the food is incredible - so flavourful and Michelin quality for sure. We had the 2 course lunch set menu and it was very reasonably priced considering the quality of the food. The chips were probably the best I’ve ever had.

Superb Spanish restaurant, service was fantastic, waitress knew everything including the details of their legendary beef powder- worth the 4 hour train journey from Leeds!

We had dinner here and it was exceptional, all of the staff were so friendly and professional, service, food, wine and drinks were all superb, we will definitely return when we are next in Cardiff.

Popped in after a bit of shopping. Lovely ambience about the restaurant. We decided on the set menu of two courses. Had red prawn bisque croquettes (which weren’t part of the set menu) to start. Partner went for the hake and I went for the steak. All cooked perfectly. We followed with the cheese and biscuits and petit fours. A little bit disappointed that we only had one slice of manchego cheese but very tasty. Lovely staff who were very pleasant. Would definitely return.

Went for lunch with my son. What a fantastic dining experience. Warm welcome from the friendly highly experienced staff, excellent food, really relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. Superb value for high quality food and service . Definitely 5 star.

Got the monkfish, lamb, sirloin and sides and it was all delicious. The sauces were really nice too. I particularly liked the tomato salad and beetroot. The sorbet I had at the end was super refreshing. Nice service.

Wow this place is fantastic. The staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We loved the decor and it was a good atmosphere. The food was amazing. We went for olives and anchovies as a nibble with a glass of wine. Then we had the lamb to share, it came with a gravy sauce and salsa Verde. It was simply delicious. We added 3 sides all of which complimented the lamb really well. We had a cheese selection and a custard tart with bacon and maple ice cream for desserts. Could not fault a thing.

The food was gorgeous but the sharer was not enough for two people- we left still hungry. At least give enough chips for two as they are so cheap to make The staff were welcome and there was a very relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely eat here again but for a special occasion

After watching Fred Sireix programme we booked for a Valentine’s Day/wedding anniversary meal today. From the second we walked in we were greeted by very polite staff and shown to our table. Both menus were superb and we really were spoilt for choice. Our meal was Devine and cooked to perfection accompanied by a very delicious and well price bottle of bubbly. The service was 5 star with very knowledgeable staff. We are fortunate to have eaten in the some of the finest restaurants around the world and this restaurant was definitely an experience we will remember and return.

We bought a sharing steak with a few sides between us. Really tender meat and one of the best peppercorn sauces I’ve ever had. Would definitely recommend!

Went to Cardiff for our wedding anniversary. They wrote a lovely handwritten note to congratulate us. The menu had an amazing selection, set menu and a la carte. They buy in their beef from Northern Spain and you can tell by the amazing flavour. The prawn croquettes were crisp and again full of taste. A great selection of wines by the glass. The service was impeccable. Good recommendation. My husband has to follow a gluten free diet and his food was perfect. The price was very good for this high price quality. A meal to remember and we will be back. They also have rooms.

Had an amazing meal here for my 39th birthday with my dad, husband and 4 year old daughter. The food outstanding and they made my daughter feel welcome with a princess hat! She loved her steak and ours was awesome too. Highly recommend the mackerel starter and pretty much all the side dishes with your steak 😂 soooo good!

We were a group of 14 friends who got together to remember a friend we lost a few years ago. Asador 44 did us proud. We chose the £30 set lunch, though the wine bill came up rather more than that. The wines we chose were reasonably priced and good value. Most of us chose the grilled mushrooms followed by rump steak, both of which were cooked beautifully. Feedback from those who had the fish (hake on this day) and squid were equally enthusiastic. Most had cheese selections to follow which was excellent. From start to finish, Asador and its team did everything they could to make the process simple and our experience everything we wanted it to be. The service at table was friendly, prompt but unintrusive. We were not hurried over any part of the meal. Thank you Asador for helping us have a great time.

A lovely find. Food was very good and just the right amounts...mackerel and pork belly to start were stunning followed by amazing skate and hake. Very good Spanish cheese to finish...and washed down with a few glasses of Lusco. Great atmosphere and very good service.

I love Spanish food, and have wanted to go for years. A cold dry January Friday for a business lunch wasn't my original plan to try out this institution of Spanish gastronomy! Everything was as expected. Prawn bisque croquettes were a highlight. The meat smacked of Meat Matters Welsh ex dairy cow magic! What I didn't expect was how great the service was. In London poor service is sadly the norm. Assador smashed it with friendly and attentive service - it was refreshing. Next time I want a Saturday night with sherry and wine, but for now a Friday lunch will do. Well done all round - especially front of house.

Everything was excellent - service, food and wine. From the moment we stepped in we felt very welcome and relaxed. The whole experience was one of the best meals we’ve had.

It should be Not be on the Michelin Guide could be reflected by poor service of different treatment towards minority and not exceptional food. My family members are happy with the steak. My partner and I think it’s good but not outstanding. That’s why I give food 4/5. Pasture is better and even Gaucho shows better quality(it’s on the way to Cardiff). We had a lovely wine but it served after all the food. I left the reservation feedback via email but no response as my negative response showing the restaurant did not take initiative to progress and cannot process the feedback properly and timely. I went through the reviews on Google and had noticed the common situation that the staff won’t apologise for what happened.

Had a fab night, Martina looked after us so well. Really friendly & knowledgeable. A lovely relaxed atmoshpere. Prawn bisque croquetas and Cod starters so delicious. Spanish sirloin with sides of olive oil fries, beetroot dish and a roasted pepper & aubergine dish. Perfect! Catalan tart with Jamon icecream and Peanut brittle was amazing. Two glasses of Cava & a lovely bottle of red wine. Would 100% recommend & will return ASAP! Thanks again Marina!

2nd time staying at the attached hotel Parador 44, but 1st time to eat dinner at Asador 44. Food, service, environment all amazing. Will be returning in the future. Have previously eaten at other Grupo 44 restaurants and they are always excellent with a relaxed vibe and attentive staff. The breakfast menu (available to non residents) is fantastic too, as is the hotel with its guest lounge and honesty bar. Looking forward to my next visit.

The Food was good but not as good as it use to be , hardly any specials not crossed out on the board at 7.30pm . We were not even told about it by the waitress . The service isn’t professional at all , for the price you expect a professional team. Many spilled glasses and flying trays in the same evening , never the same waitress to serve you , I think we had 4 or 5 different ones . the waitresses/waiters clearly didn’t get the training they need by the management of the restaurant. Disappointing

Went for a Christmas meal with my sister, firstly there's not enough choice so I picked the lemon soul , but it didn't state that it came whole luckily my sisters hubby is a chef I'm not a big fish eater and I hate bones, he struggled to get it off the bone as it turned out it was under cooked , its supposed to come away from the bone , it was pink in parts, a lady took it away as she could see he was struggling to remove the bone . the little fish that was edible tasted ok I did tell the waiter he came back with thank you the chef said he'll take it on board, I hope I don't get sick now with under cooked fish . we won't go back as its over priced and I'm ashamed to say I'm hungry nearly £200 bill with a service charge , we did leave a tip for the waiter its hard to find a nice restaurant now without feeling ripped off

We were served by Carmen who was polite, informative, friendly and efficient. She explained to us the dishes and was patient with us. The service from all the staff was super and the food was some of the best we’ve had in Cardiff. Would 100% recommend and would return. It’s a very lively restaurant and as we had our Nain it could be a bit loud for her to hear at times.

Fantastic food, the atmosphere was really lovely and the service was amazing! We had Marina as our waitress and she was incredibly attentive through the course of our meal. Thank you so much and we will definitely be back!

Beautiful restaurant worth every moment.

Great place if you fancy fire grill Basque cooking hence they named it asador. Local caught fish except no turbot & rib steaks are stars of the show. Parrilla grilled with just olive oil & salt keeping the natural flavours. Larger catch & cuts are available to share. Ordered sea bream & Spanish ex dairy sirloin. No leftovers meant food was really delicious. Petit fours were very good too after settling the bill. Discreet & friendly staff too.

The food was lovely but not enough for the price! We were starving! The waiter said the £65 sharer steak was enough for 3 of us with 3 sides and chips when clearly it wasn't! We spent £88 a head with 1 bottle of red and went home hungry! Sorry, but I won't be rushing back! Nevertheless, a lovely ambience in the restaurant and staff were smashing!

Tom Kerridge hospitality TV series featured the Asador so we booked up well ahead of the Friday night date. The restaurant was full and we had a great table at the rear. The mains on the menu were all available and an extra 2 choices chalked on the board inside. The theme of the grill cooked meat options with a Spanish twist definitely differentiate this restaurant as do the sides that are like larger tapas dishes. The service, vibe and restaurant fittings were high standard, making for an excellent night. To top of the great service we had a phone call 20 minutes after leaving to say a bag was found at our table. This was before we had realised and in plenty of time to go back and collect!

Looked forward very much to visiting this restaurant following a Fred Sirieix TV visit and booked 2 months prior having organised an overnight stay close by. The first impressoon was of a busy, well designed room which was extremely busy but was then somewhat disappointed to be given a table by the door which mean that one could actually see very little of what was happening in the "main body of the kirk" and definitely not the kitchen! The snacks and Starters looked very much like we had come for but the mains proved disappointing in choice and actual dish. We started with three starters - sourdough, Red prawn (historic) and Salchichon which were all first class and Michelin Star standard. For mains herself had the squid, which was one whole tube, with tentacles stuffed inside, on a plate with a tiny blob of green stuff, which certainly was not ink mayonnaise, and I had the sirloin steak, which was as tough as old boots if very flavourful. The steak was, immediately, replaced on request with apologies and the replacement was excellent. It would appear that the "aged" description of the sirloin as per the menu referred to the age of the cow (ex dairy) and not the period the meat was hung! The side dishes were, again, excellent and Michelin standard - particulary the courgette, and this from one who does not like courgette very much!! We were lucky to have a wonderful young lady look after us and she ensured we DID enjoy our evening. However, we felt with a little more consideration, better choice of mains and better descripton of items, we could have really enjoyed it.

Elegant food with superb wine. The steak is to die for and the starters were all delectable. The waiters and waitresses were knowledgeable, friendly and very personable! Would 100% recommend to anyone who wants a fine dinner in a great environment.

From the moment we entered the restaurant it was brilliant. Rained on coats taken from us, little drink ordered and decision had to be made from a focussed yet good range menu. Mackerel, Leg of lamb and a chocolate mousse were chosen and they were absolutely amazing in flavour and quality. The staff were very knowledgable and attentive and the ambience of the venue was brilliant. Will definitely be back.

Had the set menu for lunch, nevertheless the menu offered a choice of dishes. We had the Lion Mushroom to start followed by the rump steak and fish of the day. Although the mushroom dish was small it was full of flavour. The steaks were cooked to perfection and matched the quality of those sold in Pasture. The fish of the day was hake. It was beautify cooked but sadly served in a black bitter sauce which overwhelmed the taste of the fish and spoilt it. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. When I was asked how my meal was I suggested that perhaps the hake should be served without the sauce and maybe it should be served separately. Although I did not ask for or indeed expect the waiter reduced the bill by 20% for the two hake dishes. I will definitely be back

If you want delicious food, excellent wine, smart but also casual vibes, and great service in Cardiff city centre, this is the place. Everything we ate was outstanding, from the bread with sobrassada butter snack to start to an absolutely divine Catalan tart to finish....

Unfortunately the fish was sold out. Sirloin only available for 2 and best served rare and one of us didn't like rare. I would suggest that availability is made for single choice in addition to doubles. However the food was excellent and service very attentive

Having seen the restaurant on the TV my wife asked to go to celebrate her birthday. We have experienced a similar type of cooking in Argentina and Asador44 was just as good. Food fantastic, wine very good and not too pricey, service was good but could have been better. Mains were whole grilled squid and Arroz which were fantastic. Plenty of choice so another visit at a later date is a must. Stayed at Hotel Indigo near by so a win win 😁🇪🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Spanish food with Welsh ingredients very clever 👏👏

Lovely evening here. We thought we were going to a tapas restaurant, but it's definitely not. Food was lovely, although I could only have steak as all the other dishes had ingredients that I really dislike. It is pricey for what it is, but it was still very tasty! The service was great, had a gent who's only been there for 2 weeks and he was brilliant, so polite and pleasant! All the staff were very friendly and polite!

The food was very good quite a small selection. Frustrating they were filming for their website when we went there. It was a special occasion and we had a bright film light, wires, camera man and baggage everywhere. It did detract from the experience. Shame they didn't warn us otherwise we would have stuck with Pasture.

An absolutely fantastic Spanish restaurant. Great food, great service and a lovely ambiance. For starters we had a salt cod and a mackerel followed by whole squid and ink mayonnaise with olive oil fries and a roasted celeriac, cauliflower dish with toasted walnuts. The food was perfectly presented and extremely well cooked with a good balance of flavours. I would come back here because of the excellent menu choice.

Nice place and friendly staff, but the 'ex-dairy' steak was small and tough - and surprisingly we weren't asked how we would like it cooked, although I'm not sure anything could have saved it. Maybe the poor animal had a hard life in the dairy?...

We had a lovely meal here. Food was excellent - hake was perfectly done; steaks were heavenly. Very interesting to watch the chefs at work over the burning coals. Staff were knowledgable, expert and friendly. Also open Mondays and Tuesdays, which is becoming unusual

Had the most wonderful lunch here today. Arrived early but shown straight to table. Lovely young waiter, Daniel, looked after us. Explained the A La Carte menu in great detail , helping us choose tasty starter of sourdough bread with oil/dip, cured salmon and croquet. Had slow cooked lamb to share(fell off the bone) and Catalan tart to finish. Absolutely delicious. Will definitely go back to try the rest of the menu!

Wow, just wow. 2 days later my mouth is still salivating. I had the mackerel to start which was delicious and not overpowering. Then the rump steak OMG words escaped me then and they are now. Ex Dairy is a thing and I feel we should see more of it. Sustainable and delicious. I’m going back next week to sample more.
