We were tired after an early morning and ferry sailing into stornoway so we decided to buy a book in the local book shop (lovely by the way) and have a nice coffee in town before heading out to explore. We bought coffee and cakes and sat downstairs, after less than half an hour there we realised there was a top floor with more comfortable chairs so we decided to move. We didn't know we needed permission for it so we came back downstairs when the owner told us off, she was clearly irritated so we apologised. She told us she needed to make sure the area was cleaned before, which we understood. So we waited until she came downstairs after cleaning, we were planning on sitting down for a little while and then maybe order something else (we had spent over 10 pounds on our first purchase) but she told us that in order to move upstairs we needed to order something else immediately. We decided to leave as it was obvious we had overstayed our welcome. We do not recommend the place, it's nice enough, but the staff does take away all the charm. Our very first experience in Lewis has been very sad and disappointing.

Such a beautiful cafe with an amazing selection of cakes! We had a roll and croissant for lunch and treated ourselves to a slice of cake and a sneaky G&T. The staff were so welcoming, and we liked that we could provide our test & trace details online at our table (I’m a little OCD with my data privacy!). The lounge upstairs is so relaxing, it was the best dining experience we’ve had in Stornoway by far!

Visited Artizan during a stay on Lewis last week. Coffees and cakes were very nice, but no contact details were taken for Track and Trace during current Covid pandemic, very strange as every other restaurant or cafe visited took details, which I understood were now mandatory in Scotland. Also, staff not wearing masks and customers ordered at the counter rather than table service, so a queue of people formed, surrounded by occupied tables which did not appear to be adhering to current social distancing rules. I’m surprised the cafe is operating with such lax practices at the moment.

Was really looking forward to trying here after reading the reviews, however we were completely ignored when we went in. I never like to leave a bad review but feel strongly about it, with no acknowledgement whatsoever from the two staff, then they served other people who came in after us. Yes it’s difficult times due to Covid-19, but there’s no excuse for rudeness. Not the usual Scottish welcome we expected.

Beautiful shop. Amazing coffee.Great food. Love the 1st floor seating and gallery. A lot of artistic and inspirational to thought obviously applied in its design. Our visit though. Couldn't help but notice the owner/ manager seemed to be running around doing everything even although I've never been in a coffee shop with as many staff. It seemed chaotic, unorganised and frantic at times . So if you want a chilled out beautiful coffee in a nice calm atmosphere try and get a premium seat upstairs.

Amazing little cafe, in the centre of Stornoway. We visited twice while here on holiday (2 adults 4 kids). Service was amazing, particular mention to the gentleman with shoulder length hair. Made us feel so welcome, polite and friendly! when we returned another day he remembered us from earlier in the week! First time we visited we all had a sandwich and cake, there isn’t a huge choice (bbq chicken, BLT, 3 cheese, garlic chicken, ham, croissants with Brie and cranberry, scones, tray bakes and flapjacks) BUT.........everything was delicious !!!First visit was super cheap as they are taking part in the eat in to help out scheme (nothing visually says they are but there on the .gov website and they are taking part). Food was so good I would of happily paid full price any way! Deffo add it to your to visit list if visiting Stornoway!!!

On an island in the Outer Hebrides, with sky draped in clouds and air filled with mist, where should one go to find a beverage to warm one's innards? You may assume that the answer is to be found in the heartiest of Stornoway's pubs. But such an assumption is rightly challenged by a single sip of Artizan's coffee. Bold in flavor and throbbing with caffeinated energy, the coffee is astoundingly improved by the warmth of service from Artizan's ladies, who more than make up for Stornoway's lack of Vitamin D.

Stunning view and friendly, efficient staff in a small family-run hotel. The quality of food was excellent, but fully grown humans may wish to order two main courses each, such was the rather miserly amount of actual food - scallops and monkfish respective.y - on our plates. Top marks for presentation and taste, but would have loved a little more.

We ate twice at Scarista House Restaurant during our recent trip to Harris. We have dined here before on previous visits over the last 20 years and this year it was better than ever. Beautifully prepared local food. First menu - Twice baked cheese soufflé, followed by Stornoway landed hake in a delicious sauce and some delicious vegetables. and then a chocolate roulade!. Second menu - goats cheese, courgette and cheese raviol with a nettle pesto (amazing!) followed by local hand dived scallops and the most delicious lemon tart with excellent pastry, lemon verbena ice cream and a strawberry and pink peppercorn coulis. Fabulous! Highly recommend the cooking here! An absolute delight!
