Lovely staff and great space. I only had coffee but next visit will most likely have some of the delicious looking food. I think it was the manager who went above and beyond. Thank you!

Loved their outlet in Broughton St, so when we were in Bruntsfield, we came by for coffee too. Tried their decaf that was sugar cane processed, it was chocolatey, fruity sweet with citrusy end. Nice!

Great stop for coffee. Front room is small but there are extra tables in the back. Dog friendly, kid friendly. Had a delicious chai latte.

Fantastic little coffee shop, I have lived nearby for a couple years and was regularly in for beans and coffees. Recently though we moved away but popped back in to see if there was anything that could be done to my scales after they went wildly out of calibration. The lads sorted me out there and then and didn’t even charge me! Fantastic customer service!!

A perfect place to be cut off by internet as in this cafe, there is no WiFi 😅 also, your cellular data will be totally gone after entered this place. There are some nice magazines in store but no plugs available. We ordered Chai latte as we were told they are making their own one. Sadly it tasted like hot milk and was served in a take away cup ?? (Meanwhile the staff there were drinking tea from proper mug - which they have plenty of but none customer dined in got any)

Ok coffee but not much different from chain coffee shops. Cold and dry pastry. Asked the staff if they can reheat, said they don't have the facility. No WiFi and mobile signal is poor there. Cozy atmosphere.

Recently got a hot chocolate from them for takeaway, must say that the portion was fairly small compared to the price and the hot chocolate was 4/5. But the staff were really friendly and would definitely come back and give it another try.

Love this place… my go to coffee place when I’m in Edinburgh.

Excellent coffee pleasant staff.However while sitting at my table I was joined by a persistent fly. Observed that the Carrot Cake and croissants which were on the counter were uncovered.Surely as it’s summer these should have been put under cover.

Had a flat white to go and bought two bags of coffee. This is a proper coffee shop and you need to check what coffee they are serving and whether you like it… The Ethiopian was lovely and fruity - the bags come with a handy description of what to expect (notes of etc) which is easier than analysing the coffee lingo used on the bags.

I had a latte at the Bruntsfield branch on Monday and it was delicious. Can't comment on friendliness of the staff as I was literally in and out with my take away coffe. One star less that the cup was really small to compare with other coffe shops in the area for an almost the same price.

The last three times I’ve been in here the girl that served me was cold and rude. The only time she spoke to me was to tell me the price. The way the coffee is made is hit or miss too… such a shame because I definitely used to buy consistently lovely coffees from here. One offs are okay but this is the past 3 times I’ve been to the shop, I won’t be returning.

Not very friendly! As soon as I walked in I got asked to wait outside in quite an abrupt manner. No hello, smile or friendly greeting. I quickly looked around (with my eyes) at the tables for a few seconds to see if I could see my friend. I was once again told to wait outside - there was 3 people seated and one lady waiting for her takeaway so hardly that busy. When I said I was just seeing if I could see my friend the women was quite rude. On the plus side I had got the wrong store as I really didn't want to spend my money here. Would definitely not return. Way to greet anyone let alone a heavily pregnant lady. *Highly recommend the Broughton Strt store. The staff were really nice, warm and friendly. Completely different atmosphere.

Artisan was fine. The staff doing their best in very difficult circumstances.

The coffee is fairly good, but the atmosphere is ruined today by the barista with the loudest voice in the world loudly and patronisingly berating another employee, at length, in the middle of the store. There is nowhere that you cannot hear every word, cutting through your potential enjoyment of your reading, drink, or food.

Ordered 2 flat whites this morning, one was perfect, one was completely over extracted, butter and disgusting, such a shame given that it took over 5 minutes to make. Shame about the service when the coffee had potential!

The young woman who works here was quite rude and apathetic. I work in customer service as well and sometimes customers can be annoying, but we were just in to buy some coffee beans and we didn't do anything to get such poor customer service. She was unpleasant and spoke condescendingly; when the card machine wasn't on, we tried a couple times to pay and she wouldn't acknowledge that it just wasn't working and instead just stood there, staring at us, looking exasperated. Finally she realised it was the actual machine that wasn't working, and we paid and left. I guess customer service isn't for everyone...

Excellent customer service and quality drip coffee! First time visiting since moving up from London and definitely one of my favourite café experiences so far. You could tell the staff were pretty knowledgeable about the beans they were using and recommendations on the coffee scene in Edinburgh ~ greatly appreciated.

Nice coffee but the attitude of the staff is unbelievable. I felt like a nuisance with my presence and my “hello” was not reciprocated. Mind boggling. If i wasn’t with a friend I would’ve walked away. This is not the first time this has happened at this store either.

We at Albany love our neighbours at Artisan Roast! They give us a much needed caffeine boost for our Friday morning meetings!

Really enjoy this place for coffee. Relaxed environment. Minimalist. Most importantly though, they seem to have some of the best baristas in Edinburgh (my best ever pour over came from here - no mean feat given the amount of coffee I drink). The soup and sandwiches are not fancy but perfectly nice, and they have a decent range of cakes etc. Well worth a visit.

Great tea selection and their baked goods are delicous. The space is a little small, particularly if it's busy and a lot of people are waiting for to-go orders up front, but they are dog friendly and the staff is lovely.

Best coffee I've ever had. Their Ethiopian had exceptionally rich blueberry tones - a flavor that's easily lost when roasting and stands as a testament to the expertise of their roastmaster.

You never go wrong with Artisan Roast. The coffee was lovely, albeit not as warm as I usually like it - but that is a question of taste too. The place has a relaxing ambience, even though the seats weren't of the most comfortable. I liked the room at the back. The staff was polite.

Me preguntaba por qué otro cliente solicitó que su bebida estuviera muy caliente, ya que seguramente el café siempre está caliente. El mío ciertamente no lo era. También era bastante pequeño, y lo bebí en menos tiempo de lo que esperaba. Sin embargo, aprecié el descuento por traer mi propia taza.

Bought the "trigonometry" house blend and it's one if the best coffees I've ever had. I'd highly recommend it.

I've had mixed experiences with their own roasted beans. The Trigonometry blend is alright but just picked up a bag of their Nicaraguan beans which is very unpleasant (and quite frustrating considering they're on the higher price side at £9). Not sure if it's worth the risk of trying any of their other roasted beans. UPDATE: The more I make coffee with the Nicaraguan beans using my hario v60 the more frustrated I get. There's no ground which is suitable for these beans. The grind has to be very fine to get any taste out of it at which point it's extremely bitter. Very disappointing.

Really good coffee, so much better than big chains cafes. I really like the atmosphere of the place as well, really quiet and tasty cakes as well. Worth a visit if you are looking for good coffee!

Do quite like it here. And the oat flat whites are lovely.

You can see that coffee is what the place specializes in and that's what you should go there for. Staff is very knowledgeable, cares about the product, and they put so much work into serving the perfect cup. It was also really fascinating to learn how they work directly with farmers and control quality in this way.

Found it pretty average and overpriced. Coffees can’t be tailored to suit the customers preference, it’s their style, cup size and that’s it, they dictate to you what’s good.

Lovely coffees! These people know their stuff. I've been visiting Artisan Roast every time I come to Edinburgh since a few years back. Usually went to the one on Broughton Street. Recently began to explore other areas of the city and discovered Stockbridge and Bruntsfield. Both are excellent! Come here for coffee and enjoy a stroll along some of the most interesting streets in Edinburgh!

Great little place for coffee or tea

Usually a reasonable place, with usually a friendly staff. however, they have very limited Vegan options, especially no “smaller bites” but one, stale packaged cocky. when I pointed that out politely as something I really wish they add in the future, as a neighbour and hence a recurring client, got lashed out at. Now, he might have a bad day or something, but still not acceptable. Lost me as a client.

Excellent little coffee shop. Was introduced to the "long black" (when I asked for an Americno) .... that is how a coffee should be enjoyed (in my opinion). Oh and the salted caramel chocolate brownie was probably the best I've ever had. Avoid the big chains and #supportlocalbusines ... this one is a must!

Woody, hipster vibe with rather uncomfortable wooden benches: perhaps I'm just getting old! Coffee fine but not outstanding, however this is a much better option than any large chain.

The coffee is consistently good but not great and they seem to tolerate customers rather than make them feel welcome. Guess it's quite cliquey....
