Well, we visited the stall at Beaconsfield bank holiday fayre market and chose 2 delicious cinnamon doughnut 'things' plus a gorgeous seeded sourdough loaf which has stunned us, it's so tasty. It's 23 miles from our home to the bakery but we plan to plague them for their bread and goodies; just hope they keep in the freezer!

Loved it. We went there late morning for a late Christmas treat. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, great coffee an amazing cakes freshly baked earlier that morning on the premises. Nice soft sofas and slightly quirky decor. Great fruity muffins.

Relaxed and friendly, chilled vibe. Delicious custard pastry and a great coffee. Lovely place to meet some girlfriends and catch up whilst relaxing in the large squashy sofas. Parking nearby.

This spot is just great for a quick coffee and bite to eat. We loved the vibe and friendly atmosphere of this place. We had coffees and a toast for our biggest child but it was all done fresh and delicious.

This used to be our go to.. lovely coffee, amazing friendly staff then one extremely busy Saturday, while lots of loyal regular customers were waiting outside for coffees the owner, Mr Artichoke, was busily sorting out his mates and not helping the clearly overwhelmed staff. Needless to say we hadn't been back for a while, then today we thought, let's grab a sandwich and coffee from Artichoke... it's took 25 minutes to organise 1 mocha, 1 tea , 1 tuna melt and a cheese melt!!!! And.....And..... it's cost £18!!!!!!! £7.20 for the tuna melt (photos provided) this takes the p@#£ and robbing from local people who are obviously your bread and butter. Disgraceful

A real gem in the Old Hight Street - one of a number of outlets which despite best efforts of the council are injecting life back into this lovely part of the town. Becoming a popular spot with cyclists and walkers. Always a warm reception from charming staff no matter how busy. Nice collection of snacks and great coffee. Feel a bit sorry for the reviewer who gave a bad review after sitting outside for 20 minutes. Why not go in an and order like everyone else? Takes all kinds I suppose.

We love the artichoke. The coffee is excellent up there with the best in Hemel. The pastries are delicious and the fruit, the freshest around! Staff are lovely. The books for kids and adults are a great touch. And the have chatted to a couple of people on the chatter natter table a couple of times. Overall this place is bang on and if the suns out, the outdoor spot by the church is best spot to perch in the whole of Hemel. Keep up the good work!

Amazing coffee and pastries. Everyone is so friendly, kind and welcoming, they go out of their way to say hello and ask how you are. Really cute and cozy venue plus the outside space is great too. I love popping in and grabbing a coffee and a croissant with my little boy.

First and foremost the staff are all so wonderful and welcoming. My family and I love coming to Artichoke for a either a spontaneous or planned coffee and cake date. Their hot drinks are delicious and always the perfect temperature. The pastries and cakes are divine. The added touch of being able to purchase fresh fruit, vegetables and bread

AMAZING!!!!! Best coffee shop in the whole of the old town! Lovely attentive staff, beautiful ambience, the best fruit and pastries i’ve ever had in my whole life, i’d eat them every day if i could! All the hot drinks and SO good, much better than Starbucks or costa! The downstairs seating is so relaxing and feels so homely, comfiest seats and blankets and a lovely aura to study! The Artichoke is my favourite place!

Menu looks interesting. Outdoor seating area is nice. BUT a 20 minute wait without seeing any service, apart from one waiter who completely blanked me, is no way to do business.

Noticed the nice seating area opposite the coffee shop and that they also sold fruit & veg. Placed order for tea & carrot cake. Took a seat in the sunshine where lady brought out & served tea & cake. Went in to pay & purchased...

Just what the attractive Old High Street in Hemel needs -a place to sit and enjoy a tea or coffee, with a view over the church and park. Owners are friendly, drinks are brought to the table, prices are reasonable.

We came in for the street food and found the event very well run, there were plenty of stalls, a good variety of offerings and seats to be had. Staff in the pub were very friendly and plenty of them clearing glasses - in fact a bit too keen, keep your glass in view. The ordering at the bar is meant to streamline the system but makes it into a bottleneck- but no real issue there was a Tring beer tent outside! Great event and pub give it a go!

Wanted to leave a review of the St Albans excellent taproom from the brewery. Being a bit of a novice beer drinker i needed a bit of guidance on what and how much of each drink I should have ( one of the recommendations was a 9.7% stout that is apparently best drank in thirds if you can manage it!) by the wonderful team member Marcus behind the bar. A brilliant afternoon’s experience that I would really recommend if you’re looking for something local and a bit different.

The Plough is a beautiful pub and the staff are amazing. I have always been made to feel welcome. The pub is dog friendly, it has a dart board and a pool table. Paula is fab! Xx
