Great fish and chips well worth the price and even better was having the shed next door to sit in out the rain to eat them. Good portion of fish and chips.

The friendliest service. Lovely lady originally from Glesga was so helpful. We got nice chippy dinner,bought some homemade soaps made by the owner of the shops and left with smile on our faces after lovely chat . We definitely will be back Thank you x

This is a favourite staging post for us on long road trips. The fish is absolutely fresh and we would highly recommend it.

Pretty awful, fish was revolting , not fresh , probably frozen for 2 years, best used for chopping down a tree in a forest , chips were apparently Egyptian potatoes, maybe so but tasted like a pharaoh’s stinky feet after building the pyramids. This used to be good many years ago, not now Most people , like us will drive away and eat them , by then it’s too late Purchased some black soap from the shop , should have eaten that in a roll, at least I would have a nice taste of forest fragrance in my mouth. Twenty Five pounds for this, would have been better eating fresh road kill Never again

Awful - avoid this place! Where to start! Awful chips - not real chip shop chips, under cooked raw batter on the fish, cheeseburger missing chips, tiny portions and probably the most expensive chippy in the UK. Using bare hands for cakes after handling cash etc, warm cans of juice and £40 for 3 of us to eat. Friendly service but don't be fooled - absolutely shockingly bad food. Avoid!

Lovely ladies took our orders and had a nice discussion with us. It was a warm and friendly atmosphere where we felt very welcome.

Don’t normally leave reviews. But this order has annoyed me a bit due to it being £39 something. I asked for 2 portions or chips and 3 fish. (Obviously want it all separate) I got one chips with 1 fish together in a tray, which was fine and got ate, then got another chips in a bigger tray, with broken sloppy fish, can’t even tell you if it was 2 fish (which it was supposed to be) kids refused to eat is as they don’t like it mixed with vinegar and didn’t like how broken and sloppy it was, not very good. Hence why we wanted everything seperate. We have been here in the past and never really had a problem, always enjoyed it to be honest but this was definitely a waste of money! Unfortunately I won’t go again.

This is the worst chip shop I’ve ever been in frozen chips from a packet fish full of bones no chippy vinegar just a bottle of malt from a shop and just to make sure the experience is unforgettable really greasy never again.

We visited this chip shop on Saturday night and it wouldnt matter if the food was terrible(which it wasnt btw). The woman who served us was an absolute diamond and is the best welcome i have ever received in my life, they also sell homemade jars, vases and soaps etc which we purchased. The food was excellent quality and pprtion sizes were incredible. If your ever passing i would thoroughly recommend. Thanks for the hospitality x

Lushest welcome ever received from lovely,warm & friendly staff. Not just a chip shop, but an experience! Vegan and veggie suitable options too, which is tricky to find. As other reviewers have complained, yeah looks more like pizza shop chips, but so what?! Visiting here was a great boost, with free travel tips and the world's finest customer sevice. Super canny people, like Anne, being kind and thoughtful make all the difference. Could do with more places like this!

Whilst staying in Tarbet for the weekend, we fancies a chippy. Found this online and drive to it. Both opted for fish and chips, was disappointed what we got what we paid. The chips and not what you would expect for a chip shop, they were not chippy chips, the fish was on but nothing special, we paid around £20 which i don’t think was worth it. The fish was bland and the chips were not much better. They also say online they take card but they don’t, so don’t be caught out like us having to drive around for a cash machine. Wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t buy from again.

£3.00 for a portion of frozen chips out a bag to be cooked in old smelly oil. Later on that night had cramps and ended up being very sick that was very oily!

I would recommend everyone to check their food before leaving as the batter was very yellow and soggy on the fish. Couldn't return it as we'd driven away to have it elsewhere. Otherwise a very nice and friendly place also selling nice local craft.

A death in the family meant we had to foreshorten our holiday break in Scotland. Feeling down we noticed the queue and well populated bench seat outside the Chippy and decided that a freshly cooked slug of comfort food wouldn’t be an unwelcome diversion on our long drive home. I queued whilst, Bonny-like, MrsC kept the motor running. Although it snaked outside the shop the service was swift and efficient and it enabled me to smile inwardly when the preceding family’s order included a coffee cup (Starbucks Tall at that) sized serving of curry sauce that would have engulfed five English servings with aplomb. Full selection of self serve condiments including real malt vinegar!, brown and tomato sauce. Chips hit the spot and steam coated the windscreen nicely. Lady serving was lovely, service was prompt and the lady cooking was working like a dervish. Glad it was there Glad it was open Glad it was good.

I heard the ridiculous story that this chip shop serves frozen chips. I didn’t believe it and checked it out. It’s true- frozen chips £2.50 a portion. Absolutely astonishing. Imagine the number of tourists coming to Scotland only to be served frozen chips in a visitor hot spot. They should be thoroughly embarrassed at this level of service. They say we should support local businesses but I really wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.Instead try the village pub down the road. Good food and great service.

I went in today, 2 staff and 3 customers not one mask. Hear none of the locals eat from here. Wish they'd sell up and let someone who will provide a decent service to the area & offer fresh produce run the place. Never open, food is cheap freezer food products. Get a real fryer installed, offer oven pizzas and other usual chip shop options, Arrochar is screaming out for a decent food outlet.

We are staying near Arrochar for a long weekend and thought we would get something from the chippy last night instead of cooking.... Mistake, I am still feeling sick this morning. First of all they messed up our order, we ordered 6 suppers and my wife even confirmed with the girl that she had 6 yet when they served them there were only 5. I had ordered chicken and that was the one they forgot so if they were to cook me one then that would take 5 minutes while everybody else's got cold so I reluctantly accepted fish. I shouldn't have worried about the others going cold because they weren't hot in the first place. Battered fish truly awful, soggy, tasteless batter and really not nice fish. Breaded fish awful, think it was Iceland frozen fish placed in the fryer. Haggis awful, sausages awful, how bad can they be? Oh aye, chips.... Awful. Frozen chips really not nice. Twice I have visited on my way home to Strachur. It is fantastic having such a great fish and chip shop in a fairly remote area. The staff were charming and the food was ready after my call placing my order on my way from Loch Lomond.I am planning on ordering tomorrow evening on my way back from Glasgow.

After a long day touring, decided on fish and chips to save cooking/ washing up. Found Arrochar Fish and Chips and stopped to order here. The shop had 1 visible member of staff serving and half a dozen people waiting, with another half dozen customers after we ordered, which was a promising sign. The menu is sort of pre-fixed (various food & chips) and we ordered the fish (haddock) & chips. Prices are IMO very reasonable with £7 for F&C.; The orders were being shouted into the kitchen where it sounded like 2 other staff were frying, and at one point I thought the operation and the organised chaos would go into meltdown. Due to how busy the shop was we had a long wait, as did others. Our order eventually (and impressively) arrived with a smile. The food was hot, fresh and tasty and fairly good quality. We would come here again. I would say be prepared for a wait but hopefully like us it will be worth it, and the cost not putting a serious dent in the finances.
