Popped in for a cuppa just to kill some time. We didn’t realise they offered so much on the menu. We had a scone each, cheese and fruit respectively. Both warmed up, light and very tasty. Lovely big pot of tea. We’ll definitely go back and try other things on their menu ( all prepared and cooked on the premises)

What a shame the service and atmosphere isn't as good as the ice cream. We endured an awful experience on Saturday having to listen to the" older woman owner "shout and scream at a wee young lassie , who looked new to the job, not once, twice but three times in less than an hour. This owner is clearly in need of customer care and interpersonal skills training . This atmosphere watching the young girl cry, shake and be told to "get in the kitchen " was very hard to watch. Hey me and my family have come here a lot over the years but not one of us will ever return and sit through such unprofessional drama.

Absolutely disgusting service! I popped in tonight around 6pm as I was passing and wanted a drink and some snacks, I asked to use to toilet and the lady behind the desk said I'll keep your stuff here and pay after. When I got back I got my bank card out to pay and she said there was a minimum card payment of £5, I said I'd go back to the car to check my purse and her response was ' I bet you will, they all say that'. I questioned what she meant and she tutted at me and rolled her eyes, she then said ' there's a public toilet over the road by the way' implying I was never going to purchase any items. I was made to feel so uncomfortable from the minute I walked through door, the owner ( I'm guessing it was) was extremely rude and arrogant. After speaking to people after my visit it seems others have had similar experience and it has been like that for years. Such a shame for an independent business to have to get a bad review.

Absolutely terrible meal, me and my girlfriend ordered 3 meals as we know the portions are tiny. We were immediately judged and spoke to in a condescending tone by the staff member taking our order. Our drinks were warm without ice, and when we drank them the staff nerved offered to come over and refill them even tho the place was empty and the staff were just walking around. Ordered a coffee, when it arrived it tasted burnt and terrible the worst part being the two sachets of brown sugar were stuck together by someone’s used chewing gum, and were served with the coffee! We were so shocked, the staff member commented on it and didn’t even apologise for the disgusting hygiene, how do you not notice that the sugar sachets are attached together with used chewing gum when serving them to customers! The food came, it was mediocre at best, I asked for more Parmesan when again I was shamed by the staff for wanting some Parmesan cheese on my pasta as they argued that I should try it first. Again I was absolutely shocked, paid for the bill, wasn’t compensated for the dirty experience with no apology for serving our food with used chewing gum. Won’t be coming back again, absolutely appalling.

The food was reasonably nice and the ice cream is lovely - however, the person serving us was abrupt, rude, and made us feel like we shouldn’t be there or were causing some sort of inconvenience. We were ordering table service and were told to pay as soon as we ordered - there was no explanation for this strange practice but it suggested to us that we weren’t trusted to pay at the end of our meal. Anyway, we won’t be going back,

Possibly the best cooked and presented breakfast/brunch I have had in over 70 years, served by a delightful welcoming young waitress this establishment is the acme of quality and the tradition of ItalianbCafes and Ice Cream makers and retailers. A superbly appointed cafe with a wonderfully varied menu majoring on Italian dishes. A large sunny recently modernised and extended room with a wonderful selection of ice cream (to eat in or take away and for which they are rightly famous) and confectionary.

Although we live in the south of England, this is our 'go-to' ice-cream stop, and we have been going there for years. If you like 'proper' ice-cream, scraped up out of a churn then you will love this place. Don't ask for 'vanilla' though because their's is 'original' and the taste is sublime. The chat from the servers comes free! They do more flavours now than I have seen before. It is still the original (in a sugar cone with a chocolate flake) for me but a friend had the mango flavour and said that it, too, was excellent - and it really tasted of mango. It seems a bit of a way out, so just go there - and make a trip to Seaton Delavel Hall as well for a great day out.

Out for a bike ride & noticed the cafe was open for take aways, looked like it was serving meals to locals but also had ice cream bagged up for people to collect too. As I approached the left door, there was a table in front where you placed your money & the change was placed then I moved to the right door to collect the ice cream, pavement marked outside too, would definitely return when next in the area, felt very safe!

We have just recently moved to this neighbourhood and went to Arrhigii’s as it’s ice cream is highly recommended. On each occasion I’ve been with my very well behaved little dog, Archie - a miniature Australian Labradoodle. To their credit they welcome dogs but I’ve found the staff to be rather cold and unwelcoming. I have left on each occasion if I was being tolerated as a customer rather than welcomed and encouraged to come back. The ice cream is delicious but every time I’ve bought some (to share with Archie as he just loves ice cream) I get the feeling that they serve the minimum portion they can get away with. There is no generosity here either with the staff or the portions. The cakes are nice but I had a Sachertorte earlier this week which was incredibly dry and today a Dundee cake with was very tasty but again the portion size was bordering on the mean. Judging by the queues they don’t seem to feel that they need to change either their attitude or the generosity of their ice cream or cakes. I suspect that as they have a monopoly in the village they don’t really need to change which is a shame as if they were warmer, more welcoming and more generous they could be outstanding.

A warm welcome from lovely people and delicious, creamy and deeply banana-flavoured vegan ice cream. We enjoyed reading the family history on the container while savouring it. My colleague had the non vegan blueberry which she clearly enjoyed. It was a very pleasant surprise to have a choice of two vegan flavours from somewhere with such a long tradition (I'd mistakenly assumed all would be dairy based). The coffee was so good that I just had to have another. We'll be back! I hear the vegan mint version is excellent.

Ive bought ice cream from here with my family from seaton sluice since i was a boy (46 now). Seen all the staff changes and lineups since then. The plain ice cream is still very very nice as its always been. I liked the staff years ago, when there were a few older women serving at once before the refit. It was welcoming then, but now there just seems to be one woman (apart from the occasional appearance of an older lady ORIGINAL family member who is nice who i remember from years ago). Anyway the feeling now is that they are doing you a favour serving you!! Barely any manners or friendliness and no thank you on exit!! Your ice cream is gorgeous but overpriced now and you want to smile now and again to keep customers. I can see by the lack of queues over the summer that its less popular year over year. You need to tidy up that extension bit to, which looks a mess and get rid if that step. Im only writing this as i only come in occasionally for my kids nowadays but you're just made to feel uncomfortable from the 40ish ginger/blonde woman who's making a fortune from our occasional pleasure! Not worth the bother whatsoever!!! Buy a tub of mackies!!!!!!

My other half visited here today with my son. After a very very difficult morning for my son who queued well despite the slow service, in the heat and with many other customers, the woman behind the counter took exception to a small child making a bit of noise. Who would have thought it? An excitable child, in an ice cream parlour, 5 weeks into summer holidays? The woman was simply awful. Snide horrible looks, argumentative tone and then threatening not to serve my son. It actually got to the point where the women behind the counter just blanked my other half. She left without getting ice cream. It might be fantastic tasting but I wouldn’t go here if it free and covered in £50 notes.

I had ordered a burger and coffee (which were lovely, no fault there) and needed to charge my phone. My baby was asleep in her pram so I plugged my phone into the wall socket and finished my coffee. Shortly after I was abruptly informed that they "don't offer free electricity" and that I should not have used the socket due to my phone charge not being "an emergency". I pointed out my food purchase and asked if I might pay the (small) cost of energy used, but was told it "wasn't that simple" and that "round here it was [completely normal]" when queried. Made me feel completely unwelcome, very strange rules. The Hastings had no problem with me charging my phone and were much more welcoming - I'll be taking my business there from now on. I should add that the other staff seemed nice and helpful, the problem was the woman that I presume to be the manager.

On a recent Sunday afternoon walk, having visited the very pleasant Plessey woods, it was decided to try this ice cream parlour. By word of mouth id heard about it before and its impressive reputation. And it was very good, if a bit expensive. It is easy to dismiss the exterior but inside it is very much like an old sweet shop with a vast array ice cream. I went with a tub of coconut and some salted caramel ice cream. Very palatable, very sweet and nice texture. But 10 pound for 2 tubs of ice cream and 99 is quite high. But as a treat id recommend it if in the area

It had been 4 years since my last visit here, to which I remember them not being the most pleasant back then. Another teacher and myself took a few teenagers from a training centre here to try the ice-cream. The lady serving (the owner I think) had a rather rude and patronising tone not only with the teenagers, but with myself also. After spending a considerable amount of money on ice-creams and drinks, I asked for a empty small tub to give the driver of the mini bus a small sample of mine. The lady abruptly told me she would need to charge me 40p? Yes charge me, but 40p?When outside the teenagers commented that she needed to learn some customer service skills, if that is coming from teenagers than God help them. Not the best example of how customer service is delivered. On a plus point the ice-cream is quite nice, although not the best.

Service was very good and the staff were very friendly. There was a good lunch menu which was also reasonably price with around £7 for a main course. People always rave about the ice cream so I thought I try the food. The waitress was miserable and I don't know if that was because of personal problems but it didn't help the atmosphere. The place was virtually empty. The food was ok, but the meal was incomplete of what the menu stated it would consist of. There was a general feeling of something being not quite right; perhaps a local shop for local people mentality where poor service is given to those they don't like. They want to grow up instead of playing sad games which I gather they find amusing from their laughter as I left. Also, I thought it was called the crescent cafe? Seemingly, not judging from this web site. If it wasn't for the ice cream sales, I can't imagine it would remain open.

Legendary ice cream shop never let's you down. Creamy vanilla is the best you will ever have. The taste takes me straight back to my youth growing up in the area. Don't come to the north east and not visit this shop !!!!!

Been going here for years but since my daughter moved to Seaton Delaval we have been to eat in the cafe many times. Great friendly place and food cooked to order. Breakfasts lovely. Their coffee is of good quality too.

Brilliant ice cream - but everyone who has been before or has friends in the area know just how good their ice cream is.

We've recently moved to the area and have been to Arrighi on 3 occasions for lunch. On each occasion the staff have been lovely and the food well cooked at a good price. The roast dinners are reasonably priced, come in small or large (small is more than enough) and are freshly cooked and well presented. There is a standard Menu and a daily Specials Board. We plan on returning on a regular basis. I've visited twice with my daughter and once for a business lunch and on each occasion have found the Cafe met all our requirements. Highly recommended.

Reminded of how ice cream should taste here at Arrighi's. Ice cream from Arrighi's is legendary in the north east and a treat that is on the 'must do' list before a walk along the beautiful beaches in this part of the world. Not I have to say over generous with their scoops compared with the gelatos of Italy but hey this is the land of canny Geordies making sure there's enough to go around for everyone! Enjoy.

After a terrible Sunday lunch main course at the Keelrow pub went there in search of a decent dessert and found it.Really excellent Apple Pie and Bread and Butter Pudding.Lovely ice cream with the Apple Pie.Didn't experience the staff problems of other reviewers but maybe we were just lucky with who was working that day.

We went here with friends and there two little girls as thought it would be a lovely treat for all involved and presumed the cafe would be quite child friendly we found it not to be that friendly. The youngest little girl is one and found the menu holder and was playing with it she banged the table with it and we were snottily told to stop as the staff member tried to snatch the holder out of the child's hands. There is a way to speak to customers and sadly this wasn't the way to do. A short while later the little girl stood on the seat within seconds we again were snapped at to stop her it's not easy to keep a one year old say perfectly still whilst waiting for food. The staff member could of have offered a high chair and spoke politely to us but chose not too. The final insult came when the two staff members stood "slagging us off" at counter next to us. I know you don't want kids jumping on furniture but a one year old stood up looking around wasn't hurting anyone and not damaging anything. I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years but this has really put me off going back in when taking two young girls and there mam all new customers who also won't be returning very disappointing!!

I was a regular here in the sixties and seventies. Visited today after many years and although the premises have been updated the ice cream is still fantastic and the assortment of sweets etc. didn't eat in the cafe but will be back to see if the coffee is just as good.

Ice cream is good but Doesn't make up for the fact of how rude the staff are!!! The owner screamed in my face for a mistake she had made then had the cheek to refund me £1! Shocking service, shocking attitude and a shocking tash on her upper lift!!

I live locally and an ice cream from here has been a treat since I was a child in the sixties and it's never changed. Perfection and yet to be surpassed! Yes, there are often large queues, because the ice cream is so delicious and so well known that I know people who travel from alls round just for this. Lack of respect? In my opinion no, the servers don't chat, but they are very busy and serve your ice cream as fast and efficiently as they can. Please don't let reviews stating poor service put you off and never mind the queue either! Try it, you won't be disappointed!

We live locally and I called in for a tub of ice cream. Whilst the ice cream was ok, i wouldnt say it was anything special at all, and certainly not worthy of the queues its attracts. As for the service, there isnt any, miserable staff who arent polite and infact are quite rude, if you want good ice cream without the bad service, I would visit delaval ices in whitley bay, sorry, there just isnt any excuse for bad service.

I went here for my lunch and walked back out, i got spoken to like i was a child very rude, also there were people in the kitchen who didn't work there and were in normal clothes which i think is very dirty with put me off. I would like to say i wont be back here. The owners are giving it a bad name with the lack of respect!

We moved away from living in this area in 1996 and one of the highlights was taking the children and dogs to the beach; an ice cream thereafter was obligatory. The Seaton Delaval ice cream parlour was brought to our attention by friends. The trading name at the time was something like Bonadias and the ice cream was second to none and even the dogs (Nell and Toby long since passed away), wolfed it down.Well its been along time coming but I myself was able to make a return visit very recently with two new dogs in tow, Daisy and Bramble. The name might have changed to Arrighi's but I had forgotten how good the ice cream was. This is by far and away the best ice cream I have ever tasted. Daisy and Bramble might say the same if they could speak-please see the pictures. The price was £5.90 for three portions but really this is irrelevant when you are able to enjoy this quality. It will not be another 18 years before a return visit is made but next time it will be a sit down job, also sampling the other delights of the cafe

as the heading says, the ice cream is to die for but the service is poor, they dont say please, thank you make eye contact or smile. manners cost nothing yet they display a sign which says basically, "you wont be served if you are on your phone" fine but at least be pleasant to your customers, they pay your wages

We went for sweets here for the first time recently. The place reminded me of bars in Italy. Really lovely atmosphere. My daughter had ice cream which was delicious. We had bread and butter pudding, Eve's pudding and an italian pannacotta and meringue. It was all really nice. Capuccino's weren't nearly as good as in Italy (disappointingly), but were much better than your average in the North East. We saw a few people enjoying a roast dinner. There didn't appear to be a veggie version which is a shame as my whole family is veggie. I'll be back to try the savoury on another day though!

Visited here today and with it being raining there were no queues. Shop has had a refit and looks nice but I think I like the old shop better. We enjoyed our ice cream which was as alway's gorgeous. I got the original and my husband got a new coconut flavour which was also nice. Best ice cream in the area!!! Well worth a visit but on nice day's be prepared to queue.

A great central location with superbly friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful public rooms and especially the dining room serving good food. Bedroom at back of hotel with great view of castle. Functional and reasonably comfortable with basic low power shower over bath, noisy fan and metal framed single glazed window struggling with outside frosty conditions.

Popped in for a drink on a walk with a view to potentially have dinner with my husband including 10 month old son - unfortunately unless there’s a crack down on teens vaping inside the pub on tables next to us we wouldn’t return.

A recently opened Italian restaurant in Blyth. Unfortunately, the street and surrounding area is in disarray due to road/ground works and area improvement works, making access difficult at times. Was previously called ‘Tudor Café’. Really, this is now a takeaway establishment with seating. Once established, it may offer regular café style food. Plus points – ground floor access, pizza’s fresh and ‘home made’, close to town centre, cheerful staff, coffee is good, evening deliveries, on phone or ‘Blyth Eats’ app. (‘Just Eat’ app shortly, maybe) Minus points – no high chairs, very limited menu, no children’s options, not licensed, lack of ventilation, so considerable cooking smells,
