Around The World Bar in Birmingham

Had a meal and drinks it's not bad place to watch sport. And barstaff our helpfully. My meal was OK put my wife meal was spicy. I asked for bbq sauce and got hot so she left it. Could not find anyone to ask about the food.

I made a reservation for dinner at this venue a few weeks ago, based on a) an after-dinner event which was advertised on Facebook, and b) the menu on their website which looked particularly good for people with a variety of dietary requirements. When we arrived on the night, the event had been cancelled and they were running a significantly reduced menu which was not remotely inclusive of people with dietary requirements. Both of these things were the result of a different event which was taking place that night - this means that they obviously knew this would be the case when I made the booking but didn't bother to warn me. Not only that, but when we got there none of the staff we initially spoke to even knew that it was possible to book a table, and asked us multiple times if we were sure we had come to the right restaurant. Eventually a manager was found who was able to verify our booking and show us to a table, but it was clear that we were not expected despite the booking being made a week in advance. Also, when booking at this venue they require you to pay a deposit which is then converted to a bar tab which you spend on the night. When we ordered food, the staff would not believe us that we had paid this deposit and forced us to pay full price. When we were able to find a manager later on, he verified that we had this tab, but as we had already paid for our meals we had to spend the tab on several additional rounds of drinks which we did not really want. Every time we bought a round the member of staff we ordered from had to get a manager because none of them knew how to use a bar tab. Finally, the food took over an hour to arrive after we had ordered it. The Around the World website explicitly requests both positive and negative feedback to be emailed to them. I have emailed them with these experiences twice and both emails have been completely ignored. This is a truly terrible and unprofessional organisation that anybody wanting a nice night out should steer well clear of.

Discovered this place on Groupon doing great food deals and decided to give it a go when in the area with my partner. The place is huge but there was no slay in getting served. First time around we ordered burgers and barely managed to eat them. Filling and delicious. On our second visit we decided to try the pizza and it was amazing. Have made a mistake of ordering one each and were unable to finish them. However, we got a take out box for the leftovers so nothing’s gone to waste Will definitely come back

We were here for an evening of drinks to celebrate my boyfriend passing his PhD Viva and honestly it was brilliant. We were served by a bartender called Richard all night and he was so helpful and friendly. We had an amazing night and his customer service was exceptional. Best night out we’ve had in Birmingham in a long time! Charlie is brilliant too, so helpful and friendly! 5* from me and the 4 people I was with! Love from the doctor group xxx

I've been here twice before on work lunches and experienced awful service both times, late or forgotten meals, and even the wrong meal on one occasion! Today we tried to go another place on broad street we both know is amazing, but it was way too busy, not one table free, so I thought we would give Around the world one more chance... We get there and it's dead, literally only two other people there. We order food, despite their menu saying I can upgrade fries to sweet potato I get charged for an extra side order of sweet potato fries. Then after ordering we are told 25 minutes later that they hadn't even put it through the till correctly and the kitchen knew nothing about it... Food finally comes with the extra side of sweet potato fries, which me and my girlfriend didn't end up eating because they tasted so bland. Never again! It's dead in here for a reason. 3 times is no fluke, go to O'Neills instead, an example of how to do incredible service

Excellent customer service from staff, quality drinks and a good atmosphere. Richie was amazing, thanks to him for excellent service.

Came here with some friends of mine for a quick drink before heading to a club, but didn't want to leave! The bar maid recommended cocktail of the week and sure was a treat we had 6 for a cheap price! Even watching her make it made our night as it was such a good atmosphere and good music too - will definitely be back

Great value and quality hot dog and fries with a pint for £5 available all day Mon-Fri. Very nice and helpful guy (Richie I think?) behind bar. Cool music on a superb sound system. What is there not to like? Would defo revisit

If you like a decent beer, nowhere better on Broad Street. The best pint of Mahou I’ve had outside of Spain- heaven in a glass 😁.

Visited early one afternoon using great value Groupon voucher. We had pre booked but there weren’t many others in there. Rather confusing as to where to go initially as 4 bars in same area Food good. Drinks good. Girl on till very surly and not very friendly. Would recommend during daytime. Not so sure what it would be like during the evening however

4 of us came here with a Groupon voucher....what great value. We would £5 each for a pizza and a pint! A pint alone is £4.50 and a pizza is £9. The pint and pizza were absolutely delicious!! We really enjoyed the food...would definitely go again! :)

Hawaiian pizza was fantastic. Freshly stone baked and loaded with cheese, ham and pineapple. Lady on bar was exceptionally helpful regarding lagers and even let me taste one that I had never had before. I felt very comfortable there and the ambience was very nice and relaxing with subdued lighting. I shall certainly go again.

Went early on a Monday evening with a great value Groupon deal. Very spacious with good pub food and selection of drinks.
