First visit after a few recommendations. One large drab room, pretty soulless, a bit like eating in a school dining room. Very busy and extremely noisy. That’s just an observation not a criticism. Competent run of the mill fare nothing unpleasant but nothing memorable. But the staff! Are these guys moonlighting from the local funeral home? Sullen and indifferent, it is not an exaggeration to say the only time one of them spoke was a monosyllabic enquiry if we were ready to order. When collecting the plates between courses it was just straight in there in silence, bar the odd hand gesture to beckon the passing of the plates down the table. Even on paying the bill not a peep. It didn’t matter how many smiles, or please and thank you’s we proffered it was all met in stony faced silence. We won’t be retuning, most probably a more enjoyable experience stopping in and unblocking the sink. Lighten up lads.

Tried on recommendation of a friend. Didn’t disappoint. It’s a bit weird to find, behind the co-op and up stairs (not lift if you have mobility problems). It’s a take your own booze place which keeps prices down and being above the co-op makes this easier!! The food was really tasty, full of flavour and great portions. Service was good too. Prices on par with other curry houses. Nothing not to like.

Absolutely worse food that we’ve experienced and to top it off they got the order wrong and when I called to explain the order was not what I’d placed they really didn’t seem to care and was informed that the starter would be another hour . This was a birthday meal that we’d ended up having as a takeaway due to long working hours and was so deflated by the quality and service. Money just thrown into the bin in the end

Rather a tasteless chicken biryani. Inside of restaurant very tired and uninspiring looking. Doesn’t say if the meat is halal or not. Surely it should say so. Some of us don’t want halal meat. A surprising number of people don’t care as long as meat is cheap.

The reviews I read before coming were (as you can see) somewhat mixed. How bad can it be? Well, it was not terrible. I have had worse. Starter was fine, a potato based something or other. Looked like a chip shop fish cake. Accompanying sauce devoid of taste (how do they do that) and the garnish though plentiful was a little tired. Main course was a king prawn dish. Some were white (a glow in the dark shade of white) and a few were a more healthy looking pink. Overall the dish was devoid of taste. Do you see a theme here? Nothing so wrong as to send it back, but nothing right either.

Just had our first takeaway from Aroma. We live in a neighbouring town and all the local Indian restaurants and takeaways are extremely uninspiring. Tried Aroma after being recommended by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. I gave four stars as the chingri on puri was a bit bland but the chicken pathia and chicken tikka balti were excellent. It arrived earlier than advised and the staff who took the order and delivered were extremely helpful. Will definitely be paying a visit to eat in the restaurant soon.

Popped in for a takeaway on a quiet Monday night. Very disappointing bland food. Chicken with green chilli - tasteless unseasoned pieces of chicken in a boring green/brown sauce. Tarka daal was poor. No garlic cooked in ghee on the top, no coriander,no seasoning. Rice is rice but naan left a lot to be desired. Friendly staff but food standards need improving.

My girlfriend and I had not had an Indian meal for sometime. This restaurant was the ideal place to renew our acquaintance with the cuisine. We were lucky we could get in before the second lockdown. Very good atmosphere and outstanding staff. Comprehensive menu. Food well cooked and presented. Taking your own alcohol is not a problem as there is a well stocked cellar below (COOP). Only “criticism” is that the portions are rather large! I hope they can survive the current problems!

We were on holiday for a week, ordered a takeaway first night, food was delivered and we enjoyed it so much we had a second one a few days later. The lamb jalfrezi was delicious, plenty of lean tender meat & spiced to perfection. The garlic chilli lamb was equally good, just wish we lived closer so we could visit more often.

Food was perfectly nice, really enjoyed it. Service, however, was awful. Was told we could not book for 7pm and had to book for 6:30 instead. Due to this we expected the restaurant to be packed but it remained half full all night. Staff seemed in a rush to get us in and out, walking round the corner to peer at us every couple of minutes. The restaurant is supposedly doing the Eat Out to Help Out scheme but we were charged £28 for a meal that would normally cost £32. A new menu had been printed out with the prices crossed out in black marker. We paid our bill and not two minutes later, a waiter came over to inform us that they "really need this table" and rushed us out. We had half a drink left each, the restaurant was still half full and there were two tables exactly like ours behind us, not even laid up with cutlery. Bearing in mind also that there were only two of us. Food was good but service was so awful that we'll never visit again, very unwelcoming. If you'd like friendly service and an all round good experience, skip Aroma and got to the Balti Bazaar down the road.

Me and my husband went here 25/3/19 my husband wanted to take me out on a dinner date, from the beginning I realised that restaurant was bad from the dirty glasses to the dirty cutlery and food marks on the plates! As we complained the member of star who was serving us actually blew on the glass and wiped with napkin in front of us.I was disgusted and called on the restaurant owner who was shouting at staff at back with door open and worst with member staff who was serving our drinks!! At this point my partner encourage me to give the restaurant a chance after an abrupt apology and we had ordered our food.In starters we ordered samosa and pakoras the we’re stone cold inside and warm on outside!! The food is pre cooked and frozen nothing is fresh! The main took over an hour and in that wait I went to the toilet and again over hear the owner or manager speaking I assume their language at staff and could hear a lot of crashing and smashing noises wasn’t nice at all very upsetting.I told my partner when I got back from the toilet and he tried to comfort me at this point the food arrived ,they again had made and error in our order and again the food was cold in the middle and hot on outside so strange. We were to upset by then and my partner was also very upset the manager was not interested in our concerns and how upset I was .Absolutlely awful food, terrible service and badly talking to staff who I feel personally are illegally working there and have been extorted ,I will be taking further action as I’m very upset please please don’t waste your time and money here awful experience !!

The food wasn't too bad. The chicken I had in my Tikka Massalla was a little dry and tough. The staff were ok and joked that I must have been forced there as I ordered a light sweeter tasting curry instead of a super hot one. Why? I have no clue. It's the most widely eaten curry in he uk. The rice I ordered (garlic fried rice) was, and came as, onion fried rice. Zero garlic. Described as such by the staff but I let it slide as looked appetising. It wasnt too bad at all. My friends Keema naan was as ordered with extra chilli's and enjoyed.

Aroma is located above the Co-Op on Albrighton's High Street, adjacent to the Crown Pub - this last bit is important as the Aroma is not licensed, something that at first may seem odd, but it has been an business model that has clearly worked over the 3 decades that I have been visiting this part of Shropshire. More importantly, as you can take your own alcoholic drinks in with you, you never feel that your are being fleeced - you simply pay for the food, and very good food it is too.....

Will never ever return here!!Myself and my husband have been a number of times and each time been made to feel like we weren't welcome. We then decided to give one more chance last weekend, we were running late so called and they said it was fine no problem. Great. So we went down, there was 4 of us. As we arrived the sauces for the poppadoms were already out on the table... I thought it was a little unusual.Straight away the guy (couldn't call him a gentleman he was just rude) came over asking how many poppadoms we wanted, we ordered them. They came straight out and the guy asked what we wanted to order... we hadn't looked at the menu, so asked for 2mins and we would be ready. He then looked at his watch and said 'you're late!' Which I apologised for yet again. He had bad attitude so we definitly didn't want to stay there. We had given the place a fair amount of chances and they're just rude!! How the hell the run a business I have no clue!!!Over charged us for the poppadoms just to be awkward. Didn't even try and sort it and make us happy, he basically threw the bill at me.Will never ever return and I advise anyone reading this... AVOID!! Go to Balti Bazaar just down the road, this is where we went, they managed to get us in, very polite staff couldn't do enough for us! Some friends of mine had told me they come here on a weekly basis, gotta be worth a visit I thought next time I'm in Albrighton. I was going to see the local Am Dram, but made a point of getting to the village early to try out Aroma restaurant. It's located up stairs, many stairs, so if your knees aren't great or you have a disability there is no lift. I arrived shortly after opening and the first thing that struck me upon entering was the smell, quite unpleasant and not conducive to an eating establishment , it was the type of aroma ( no pun intended ) that you would experience in a doctors waiting room, a cleaning fluid perhaps ? A bleach smell, I assumed as they hadn't long opened, they had just mopped the wooden floors and it would quickly disappear, it didn't and was still there when I left an hour later, not at all nice. The restaurant is one very large room, pleasantly decorated and looked clean and tidy. The waiter that took my order was pleasant and polite, two poppadoms arrived swiftly served with the usual accompaniments . The menu was large but standard fayre, I opted for a chicken tikka Jalfrezi with pilau rice and a plain nan. After a very short time the food arrived, the first thing I noticed was the chicken wasn't particularly hot, both in flavour and temperature, it wasn't what I was expecting or hoped for. The rice was fine as was the nan, but the main course was a real let down, the only heat in the dish came from the fresh green chilli's, the sauce was bland, the chicken dry and without flavour which I did point out when asked. It was edible, maybe after a few beers it would have been acceptable even, but based on this experience I won't be rushing back. The bill at £17 wasn't cheap either as the restaurant doesn't have an alcohol license ( you can take your own ) I was really looking forward to my visit, perhaps if you live in the village it's ok. All restaurants have " off " nights but I didn't see, taste or smell anything here that would make me want to return.

Went with a large group for a meal the Aroma isn't my choice of curry house for the following reasons. It's very open plan which makes it noisy, no air conditioning, staff lean across you when in mid conversation, the food although well presented is for me bland if you are not really into your curry's then the Aroma has it spot on for the average English pallet if you desire something more traditional then go somewhere else.Having said that the Aroma always seems busy so perhaps it's just me.

We are a large group of girls who regularly visit to celebrate birthdays, usually during the week. Everyone is always pleased with their meal and the chef is happy to adapt the vegetarian meals to suit. The restaurant is used to catering for larger parties but it shouldnt put you off if you are a table for two as the atmosphere isn't oppressive as it can be in some places with big groups and mid week has as much atmosphere as weekends. The service is friendly and everyone gets served almost at the same time. The staff are happy to bring out a cake at the right time and to call you a taxi at the end of the night, There is no rush for you to leave, you are allowed to sit and chat after the meal and finish the drinks that you have taken yourself as the restaurant isn't licensed.

The Aroma has become a firm favourite over the last few years. With its consistent good good and impeccable service it is hard to beat. Prices are reasonable and you can take your own alcohol to drink too. The only minus is that the dining area is large which becomes so noisy that it is almost impossible to hold a conversation at busy times and weekends. That is the result of being a great and popular restaurant.

This restaurant know us so well when we telephone in our order we do not even have to give our address - so - after tonight's lovely meal I feel they need some credit. Our order is usually very much the same - since I started on their Tandoori King Prawns as a main course - it is my absolute favourite week on week,Tonight hubby had a chicken dish with some rice and the chicken breasts were huge and plentiful. I had the King Prawn tandoori - which is my usual. Throughout all of Tenerife I have to say Aroma's King Prawns are the best, Only 4 for in the main course but to bee truthful the size of the prawns at Aroma beats all others and is more than enough for me. They are so well cooked and just wonderful. It is hard to believe that they buy fresh prawns "this big" every week - but I have to say that they just always taste to fresh - never a hint of frozen when they are too soft or a bit squidgy! Tonight was no different, firm, succulent and every mouthful a delight. Well done Aroma and your delivery man is superb. Friendly, chatty and always smiling. Really enjoyed our meal tonight and thought you needed some credit. If you like prawns - then I have not been disappointed.

used to eat here regularly but its lost its way a little. The food has been swimming in oil (particularly takeaway starters like kebabs and bhajis) lately and there seems to have been more tables added- the acoustics of the room mean its very difficult to hear what people are saying and what we used to view as the best indian restaurant locally for many years has become far less attractive. The service is second to none - excellent - but they do need to either restrict the number of tables or do something to sort out the acoustics, 3 sets if friends have stopped going because they cant have an enjoyable evening because of the cacophony of sound!

This is our new favourite curry restaurant! We love a bring your own booze type place and the food here is excellent. My wife's favourite curry is Aroma's bright red pathia! I like a curry with a bit of heat but not too much, so I'm a fan of their jalfrezi and chicken chilli, they are just right. Occasionally we'll go for starters, the ones we've tried so far are very good. The staff are friendly and the food is served promptly. If you love a good, reasonably priced curry and a take your own booze type place, we can thoroughly recommend you try this place!

The Aroma is bright and modern and located above the Co-op accessed via a stair case. I did not see any disabled access however they may have one? OK the food now I like a good curry for me you cannot beat a good traditional authentic Indian meal. Does the Aroma meet my standards well No. It's ok well presented and plentiful however and only I my opinion designed for the English pallet. I have read many of the reviews prior to writing mine and lots of people rate the Aroma highly so one has to take an average. It's not for me to bland and to English. But hay you decide for yourselves.

Went to the Aroma again last night having booked a table the previous day. I have to say that in all the years we have been eating there we have never had a bad meal or experience. On entering the restaurant you will invariably be greeted warmly by the staff and management who will advise you on the many varied dishes available ( although the dishes on their new menu are well explained ). The friends we went with enjoyed their food very much and admitted they had never been to a restaurant where they had felt so welcome or found the waiters so attentive and helpful. The food is that good that the restaurant is very well patronised so l suggest anybody looking for a wonderful Indian food experience books a table to avoid disappointment. Already looking forward to our next visit.

There are three Indian restaurants in Albrighton, and many more within 10 miles, but none beat the Aroma. The food is quite delicious; I wanted everyone at the table to taste my lamb garlic balti, and the service - which used to be quite slow and friendly - is now timely and friendly. Don't let the slightly strange location on top of the Coop put you off. Dive in.

Had a take out last night and it was fabulous!! It was delivered on time nice and hot!! They are very pleasant when ordering your food. We had 2 started and 1 main (the main is large! Well enough for 2 if you don't want that stuffed feeling!) I would recommend the lamb tikka masala and chicken chat. Also give the pickle tray a try!! You won't be disappointed!

We have tried all the local takeaways in Albrighton, Perton, Codsall, Wombourne etc and always come back to Aroma. The food has always been spot on, they use nice meat, not the scrag ends - nice big chunks of chicken breast. The naans are lovely and soft, the keema naan is packed with keema. All the food is wonderfully tasty and just as it should be, I can't fault them and we have had countless takeaways and also sat in the restaurant.

It's sometimes tough to find a good curry house out the way but I have always found the quality at Aroma to be excellent and enjoy my meal here every time.

The food here is excellent, I've had just about the whole menu at one time or another, and of course, I'm a regular customer. Its not the cheapest, there are two other curry houses in the village, and all three have their good and bad points. Aroma is easily the best food, and I don't mind paying a bit more for the quality.Highly recommend the Tandoori Salmon.Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Its not licenced which, for my part is a great way to beat the massively overpriced wine that restaurants seem to charge. I would like to see all restaurants as bring your own.

Four of us went to the aroma on Saturday night and we didn't book but they still managed to find us a table even though they were full. They sat us down and bought us the menus and took order for our poppadoms and drinks. ( they don't have licence so you need to bring your own drinks).which is not a problem as there is an off licence on the ground floor very conveniently and they stock soft drinks. We did not feel rushed by the waiting staff to place our order. I had a king prawn on puree and my wife had garlic jhinga and the children had chicken tikka starters which came out just as we finished the poppadoms perpectly timed. For main course I had lamb jalfrezi and my wife had a chicken bhuna. The lamb was spot on and the sauce was delicious. We had a wonderful meal and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice and the staff are very friendly and more than happy to help. Most diffenitly will be coming back soon highly recommend. Keep up the good work guys and see you very soon

Well the intention was to review The Marsala Lounge also in Albrighton - but it is not listed and not found! However, Aroma need not worry. We had our "usual" take away tonight - delivered to the door by one of the ever friendly staff. For the last few weeks I have taken to Tandoori King Prawns - no rice, no sauce - except that minty yogurt but the dish comes with a lovely salad mix and a few papadoms - a delight. An extra helping of the mint goes does very well.Did try the same order with the Marsala Lounge but their prawns were a lot smaller, and a little bit soft - not as nice. Would have to say that their mint sauce was gorgeous! A good salad, but they forgot to deliver the extra mint sauce which we did order. Shame as the sauce was delightful. Anyway, Aroma come up with the goods week in and week out. Just pop down the road and get the recipe of The Marsala Lounge's mint yog sauce its lovely.Thank you Aroma we still enjoy your good food, good service and good quality. Keep those wonderful big prawns in stock!!

Visited here last night. Rang beforehand to see whether we needed to book and was told just to turn up. Quite busy and a lively atmosphere in the restaurant. We didn't have to wait long before we were attended to. Great selection of food on the menu, a wee bit pricey (some of it) but perfect portion size and really flavoursome. Will definitely be returning here at some point........

Me and the other half have eaten here twice. However both times have been eventful. The venue is nice enough although it does feel a little cramped and could do with some decoration on the walls. The waiting staff are polite and fairly quick, even in busy times. And the food was nice if a little over priced. For future reference if you want to drink booze buy it at the co-op below and bring it in with you as they don't serve booze in the establishment. However after the first visit my other half became ill a few hours after eating here, we put this down to a coincidence as it could have been anything she'd eaten during the day. However after the second visit there a couple of weeks ago I became violently ill after an hour or so of eating there (I'll spare you the details).I'm sure that the majority of people eat here, fully enjoy it and leave without incident but after two consequtive occasions of illness we'll be giving it a miss in the future.

We booked a table for 6 late January - Saturday night expecting it to be reasonably busy - but the place was absolutely heaving. We were seated quickly - had poppadoms quickly - orders were taken swiftly and efficiently by exceptionally courteous waiting staff. The food was exceptional - yes really exceptional Indian cuisine with a fantastic menu to choose from. The wait between courses was perfectly timed, not too rushed, not too slow. All the dishes were very enjoyable - far far better than the normal run if the mill curry house fare. Yet 3 courses plus poppadoms came to only £20 a head each (and you take your own alcohol) The atmosphere is excellent - the lighting is perfect not too light not too dim, the place is immaculate. We do come here for takeaways regularly (a 16 mile round trip for us but worth every mile) so we know the food is consistently very good. We've eaten in practically every Indian restaurant within a 16 mile radius and this is by far the best A really brilliant evening - thank you we cannot recommend Aroma highly enough.

Visited with friends on New Year's Eve. The restaurant was full and it took 2 hours to serve dinner. By this time I had gone past being hungry so I didn't eat. If I had my way we would have walked out. Worst of all was the waiter suggesting that things could be a lot worse! I would not want to visit on a bad day.

Curry doesn't have to be hot, but it does have to be full of flavour. Every dish we tried here was bland and boring. There were a couple of really stupid affectations, like a slice of strawberry with every starter and a glace cherry on top of the chicken passanda. A cherry? Why? Was it to raise a laugh, or to invoke the long dead ghost of the 1970's? The service was fine, and this place was packed on a Friday night, so the locals must like it. Unfortunatley the room itself is just a big echoing box, so the sound of voices just bounced around until we couldn't hear each other speak. Some additional sort furnishings might help, and for heaven's sake throw away the cherries, but I doubt I'll go back to find out if they do. There are better curries to be had in Albrighton, and sorry, this place doesn't come close.

Not being a fan or connoisseur of Indian food ,I was heavily outvoted by those friends who are. However I had a good meal which didn't blow my head off, received excellent advice and service from the staff and my colleagues are convinced that Aroma is one of the best Indian restaurants you will find in these parts. Excellent value for money and a pleasant atmosphere amongst the other customers is testimony enough to the popularity of the venue.

I had a minor issue previously which was more than sorted in my next order. This meal OMG I cannot express how good it was. After my starter I was full half way through the main, but I could not stop, it was that good, so back to licking the dish :)
