My wife and I have been to every fish and chip shop in Arnold not a one can offer the consistency and friendly service that Jamie and his staff do. We travel from Rise Park every week for the FINEST fish and chips in Arnold and beyond and have never had a meal that we haven’t absolutely enjoyed. Jamie, his father and mother care passionately about what they do and it shows in the food they produce. The continual stream of other regulars illustrates we are not the only satisfied customers. Update I’ve tried the large haddock and chips a couple of times now and what a feast it is even better than seaside chippies (what’s happening with them?) if the fish were any bigger you wouldn’t get them in the fryer and the taste is simply exquisite, a meal to satisfy your belly as well as your soul (no pun intended)! August 18 2023 still providing the best fish and chips in Arnold and the surrounding areas. Had cod bites chips and curry sauce, so good I could have eaten them twice👨🏼‍🍳🏅👍

WOW had fish and chips and the fish was Huge. Nice and crispy on the outside and nice and flaky on the inside. Chips where bang on. Staff are a good bunch too, nice and friendly. No problem parking either. Defo my number one choice.

This used to be our chip shop of choice but we moved areas, alas. The portions are great, the prices competitive and the quality exceptional. Best of all it's family owned, they are warm welcoming and always thankful for your custom.

The best in Arnold in my eyes 👀 Always top quality, with the added benefit of really good portions. All the staff are also amazing 👏 and James especially goes that extra mile, you can just tell he takes pride in this business. He wants to be the best and works hard at it. If you could give a fish and chip shop in Michelin star this one would get mine. Top quality every time. 👏

Delicious fish and chips as always! The batter was perfectly crispy and the fish still soft and tender. As well as that the mushy pea fritters are the stuff of legend!

After ordering then being told there was no cash machine I went to go and get cash out to then get back and the food already had been bagged up. No salt and vinegar was added to any meals as I didn’t get asked. I didn’t realise when you order a meal here it is all bagged separately and not in trays so without being asked you are automatically just given a small portion of peas and gravy. A cob was purchased but not received. Not sure how long food was stood in bag but then after a short journey home all the batter was soggy deffo won’t be returning

I am giving Arnold fish bar a 5 start review, everything about this chip shop is perfect. I had the fish special which is £4.99 and this has to be the best fish and chips around, it’s 10x better then seaside fish and chips shops too👍🏿👍🏿. Ordered for the rest of the family snd every portion was huge with a reasonable price! Having lived in Arnold for 19 years and trying all the food restaurants, and chip shops. This is by far the best chip shop in Arnold, and surrounding areas. Perfect all round; pricing food quality and portion size!!!! Me and my family had fish and chip from here Friday night. All cooked perfectly all clean plates from my family. Fished cooked just prefect and chips nice and crispy too. Great service from the staff too 👏

Absolutely amazing fish and chips the other night from here and also a great kebab couldn't believe how nice the meat was ,chips were cooked to perfection and the fish was huge, would recommend this place as james and his dad keep it so clean too no mess or dirt anywhere everything stainless steel . I use this shop every week and will continue to do so .

Leaving a review as the current score doesn't seem to reflect the quality. The fish seemed like it was cooked a while ago despite ordering in advance was ten minutes early to collect and the fish already seemed like it had sat there for a while, the batter was also not very fluffy or airy as it should be. The sausage and batter, batter was soggy. The chips were undercooked. All in all very average fish and chip meal. Don't be fooled by the prior reviews. This was also on a Friday night when you would expect it would be at its best. On the plus side the haddock was huge, although I would have took quality over size

We ordered the haddock and chips special and mixed meat on naan bread. The chips were amazing and the haddock was lovely and chunky encased in a crispy golden batter. The mixed meat was equally as good especially the chicken. We're ordering again tonight 😋

Quite simply the best fish and chips I’ve had for a long time! Will be back... Fish was fresh (I had Haddock but Cod also available) and cooked to perfection. The batter was also just right, crispy & light with juicy tender fish beneath. Great staff too - keep up the good work 👏🏼

Won't be revisiting again,cold and dry chips that looked like they had been cooked hours before! I normally wouldn't bother leaving feedback unless i was happy but these were truly terrible and it needed pointing out for others considering going there. Although i would like to point out that the staff seemed very friendly and welcoming. Maybe i got a bad batch?

Nipped in the other night for a bite to eat to be met by the most miserable young girl behind the counter. No “hello” or “what can I get you sir”...... I got a stare and a “yes”. She barked the price without so much as a please or thank you upon payment. If I hadn’t been so hungry I would have thrown the food back at her. I’m not expecting silver service, it’s a chippy, but simple manners go along way......especially for your customers. Food was very average. Tip for the young dark haired girl.....smile and start treating your customers with respect.

I have had fish and chips from many different eateries around and beyond Great Britain, but I have to say, without doubt that these are the best I have ever had, no matter when I call the quality is always consistent and the fish just fresh and superb. The staff are always friendly with nothing is too much trouble. Absolutely without doubt simply the best!

It's always good to find a Fish Bar that cooks in beef dripping, my preferred option. I have been waiting to try this place for some time but the opening hours never seemed to coincide with my passage through Arnold. Apparently, apart from Friday and Saturday, the shop doesn't open at lunchtime. Since it is situated on the High Street and somewhat away from the 'Main Drag', footfall can be quite low. This take away is also in competition with a number of other multi ethnic restaurants offering similar priced meals and strung along the High Street. Fortunately this is not the case later in the day as the business captures an element of the commuter traffic and it has continued to feed folks for the last six years or so. The young chap who served me (owner?) is a local resident and was happy to chat about the business. He intimated that he would like to extend the hours but I suspect that this would cost more than it would generate. Whilst the chips were enjoyable enough, it may have been due to my late afternoon visit, but I was slightly under whelmed by the batter on my freshly cooked to order haddock, so regrettably, only 4 stars. Whilst perfectly crispy it was quite flat (there are a number of possible reasons for this, although I won't speculate) rather than the ridged and furrowed version beloved of celebrity chefs and so, to my mind, didn't entirely complement the fish. I don't know if this is the norm, so will warrant a return visit when possible. I would like to see details of the potatoes being fried and also the provenance of the fish. Yes, I know most don't give a monkeys about such things but the diehard element like to know. Apart from traditional fish and chips the business sells a number of other related items including pies, sausages and also kebabs (I won't hold this against them, as long as they don't expect me to buy one). Evening opening only Monday to Thursday, all day Friday and Saturday. Cash only.
