Another wonderful meal at this warm, welcoming establishment. Tried the crispy orange duck for a change and it was absolutely delicious! Steak cooked perfectly as always. The lemon garlic prawns and chilli tomato mussels starters were too good to miss and the cheesecake and tiramisu sweetly rounded off our fine repast. Having the real fire 🔥 added to the elegant setting. Thanks, Armondo! Be back soon! Ps. You need to book in advance.

We visited for our silver wedding anniversary as part of our holiday in the area, to say we were blown away by the meal wouldn’t do it justice, from the minute we walked through the door we were welcomed with open arms. We sat at the bar and had a drink while looking at the menu and we mentioned it was our anniversary. When we were shown to our table we were surprised with heart sprinkles 🥰 such a lovely touch. The food was out of this world, I had garlic prawns to start and pollo masala, hubby had mussels followed by fillet steak, there was nothing to criticise at all, food was mouthwatering. Managed to find room for pudding, I’d highly recommend the brownie and hubby would recommend the cheese board with port. The staff were polite and smiling from start to finish, just wish we lived closer so we could return with friends.

Another wonderful meal last night. Thank you so much. Garlic shrimp and mussels in tomato and chilli sauce were delicious starters. Dover sole was devine and steak tender and succulent as always. Already looking forward to our next visit to your fine, friendly restaurant! Always enjoy our little chats with Armando and his good lady. ❤️

Excellent Italian / Mediterranean cuisine and a warm, friendly atmosphere. The mussels in tomato & chili are a must and the steak with marsala sauce is also delicious. It's the perfect place to end a visit to the nearby river gardens.

Wow I've never been to a more friendly welcoming restaurant what a breath of fresh air. Caroline and Armando have something special in this restaurant the food is 1st class the girls waiting on are so polite and accommodating nothing was to much trouble. The feel of the restaurant was relaxing and comfortable a great environment to dine in with a nice atmosphere. This was our first visit but it won't be our last we can't wait to return.

Second time here! Fantastic quality of food and service both times. Armando greets his customers personally and is so talented with his Italian dishes. The ambience is wonderful - they even have a log fire. The tiniest niggle ever - I would have liked better quality cutlery but we will definitely return and thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Lovely quaint restaurant on the edge of Belper , we visited with friends and were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived , lovely welcoming staff , superb food , so cannot recommend it highly enough and will definitely visit again

Went on a Thursday evening with friends. I was sceptical prior to going with the small menu, but turned out I had no reason to be, the specials menu was avaliable and all of the courses were delicious! Portion sizes are good and the service was great. The tirimisu is light and fluffy, but creamy with no over powering coffee taste or alcohol flavour, will deffinetly be back for that! The restraunt itself is quaint and cosy, with a wood fire in the centre. Would recommend to family and friends 🙂

Quaint restaurant on the edge of Belper. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Exceptional service and flavoursome food (we had swordfish and filet steak). I’d mentioned on booking it was my girlfriends birthday, so on the table there was happy birthday confetti and at the end of the meal the waitresses sang happy birthday and gave my girlfriend a free shot. I’ll definitely be coming back again later this year. Highly recommended.

We had a very lovely evening out at Armandos on Saturday night From the point when we were greated until we left the staff were friendly and attentive. The owner and her staff obviously work together as great team which translates to a happy atmosphere The menu was reasonably priced and very flavoursome. All in all we had a wonderful evening out that had been a last minute decision

Armandos was recommended to us by good friends and it did not disappoint - we found it to be an exceptional dining experience. The little details such as the way the tables are laid, and having bread sticks and butter on the table when we sat down really added something rarely seen in restaurants nowadays. Everything we ordered was delicious and the staff and service was first class, we will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone wanting to eat out in a traditional Italian restaurant!

We visited Armandos for the first time during the week and we were really impressed. It was the nicest meal we have had out in Derbyshire. All of the food was delicious and everything was cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were just right too. A beautiful restaurant which feels like you are dining in Italy. We would definitely recommend a meal out here.

We had our Valentine's Day meal here and were more than impressed. The lovely staff even gave us both a free drink! The cosy restaurant predictably serves an Italian cuisine but the quality of the food was just outstanding. It felt better than many of the Michelin-starred restaurants we've been to. No wonder it was Frank Lampard's favourite restaurant in Derbyshire!

Special dinner for our son’s birthday. Great steak & beautifully cooked vegetable accompaniments. Very friendly staff. Always a treat to visit and an obvious top choice for dinner around Belper.

Great place for a relaxed fine dining experience. Friendly, informative staff and perfectly seasonrd food with tender steaks and a specials menu that will leave your mouth watering in anticipation! Fish dishes will leave you spoilt for choice while there's wine at surprisngly reasonable prices with 1/2 bottles on sale, too. A quietly buzzing atmosphere allows for audible conversations without becoming raucous. Altogether a great place for the discerning diner.

Never get tired of this place, this chef is a master class act, his staff well organised, service perfect and a great choice on the menu, linked with wines to compliment, Amando’s will not disappoint. Atmosphere great for all ages and numbers. Many thanks to all staff for a Superb meal this evening, the Veal steak the best I have eaten anywhere in the world.

Great Italian cuisine in a characterful restaurant. The king prawn starter was excellent and moreish! Our steaks were tender and perfectly cooked and the marsala wine & cream sauce was yummy. Friendly, attentive staff.

Amazing from start to finish. First time here and we were made to feel so welcome. The fillet steak was the best I’ve ever had. My husband tried the T-Bone as he’s never had it before and he said that was cooked beautifully. Armando even came to the table to ask us if everything was to our liking. We will definitely be back soon.

The most amazing place , felt so special,everything was what we hoped for and more.from the moment we arrived until we left, we were looked after. We dined here recently but unfortunately we won’t be rushing back - it’s definitely lost the wow factor since our last visit. The service could have been better (had to remind them for the bread, food came out too quickly, then had our dirty plates in front of us for a while). My pate starter was very plain and not to the level that you would expect from a place like this. The £28 steak was cooked well done when my partner had asked for medium rare. They apologised when we pointed it out but for £28, it’s not good enough really.We did enjoy our evening but it didn’t meet our expectations. Especially for the price.

I booked a table here for my other halves birthday. The staff were so lovely, attentive and helpful. They made a fuss of his birthday which was really kind. The food was INCREDIBLE. I would highly recommend.

We are at Armando’ son Saturday night, we were lucky to get a table as they had had a cancellation. Our table wasn’t until 8:30 but we arrived a good 45 minutes early and they sat us out front under the canopy with drinks which was lovely. Once we went inside the service was excellent and everyone was so friendly. Highly recommend the Halibut and creamy chicken. Someone must have overheard one of our party had a birthday as they put a sparkler in her pudding which was a lovely touch. Everything was delicious. We didn’t leave the restaurant until almost 11 so they definitely didn’t rush us to leave.

The food at Armandos is outstanding. I’d heard great things about this restaurant from my partner and had been wanting to dine here for a while and I can honestly say it didn’t disappoint. It was busy and so the fact that there was a delay with getting our food wasn’t a surprise. We simply enjoyed the extra time to chat and have a beverage or two The service we received was great up until we requested the bill and seemed to get forgotten about. One reminder after about 20 minutes or so did the job and we left happy, full and looking forward to visiting again soon.

Managed to get a last minute cancellation for mother and daughter foodies. From initial booking to leaving we were well looked after. We have visited many hospitality venues who are struggling with staffing and resulting in a disappointing dining experience since lockdown hence trying lots of new places but not Armandos. Temperature taken on arrival and masks worn to tables made us feel safe, full and buzzing restaurant. I opted for calamari and my daughter had the king prawns which they shelled for her not a problem. Main course for me was lobster Thermidor and my daughter had a spaghetti dish. We swerved the pudding as were full but had a coffee and were offered lemoncello. Loved the fact the owner/chef kept a discrete check on his guests from the kitchen could tell the staff happy to be here.. left full and happy and while I type trying to arrange a return visit with hubby this time... thank you Armandos <3

We were celebrating our anniversary and restaurant went out of there way to make it special, which was appreciated. Sadly the meal did not meet up to our expectations, we had been given good comments from friends who had been there. Wine was fabulous. But "king pearl scallops" did not appear to be king in size and some still had the membrane and all were over cooked. The dressed crab was also disappointing in size and looks; it did not resemble photo on website. Description said dressed crab with mayonnaise. Actually small amount of crab mixed into mayonnaise (I would say a dessert spoon of crab in thinned down mayonnaise) . Medallions of beef swimming in sauce this was ok, for the price I am not sure it was value; I am also not sure it was fillet . Lobster was over cooked and not dressed away from the shell and because it was overcooked it was tuff and hard work to away from the shell. No one asked if main course was OK until after a very long wait ( about 15 minutes ) and after my hubby finished his meal were we asked about the whole Lobster I had left. After another other long wait we had to ask for dessert menu. Then dessert did arrive after the time we were ment to be leaving the table booking. Girls did there best and were polite. But meal was very disappointing our tip refected the girls service not the food quality. Two stars for the wine and girls service.

Went to Armando's for a birthday dinner with a couple of friends. As always, very welcoming and friendly. The menu is excellent, and the food even better. Excellent restaurant, and we’ll definitely be back.One minor point - we felt that the wait staff were a bit over-attentive. We were asked by three separate waitresses if our meals were OK, and then, having said we wanted to wait 5 minutes before looking at the desert menu, we were asked again, three times, whether we wanted to see the desert menu. I appreciate that customer service is important - and it is good here - but perhaps one allocated waiter / waitress to one table for these kinds of questions? Not worth knocking a star off for though.

First visit and it didn’t disappoint. Food was cooked perfectly and tasted incredible - one steak and one lamb. Great service and friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

First time here and did not disappoint. Had the Scallops to start with, followed by fillet steak and a lobster linguine, cooked beautifully. Service was excellent with nice little touches such as bread on the table. Felt very safe with the COVID safety measures. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed a lovely takeaway meal, beautifully cooked. As expected of such a renowned restaurant, the measures in place to ensure safety during the current pandemic were thorough.

First visit, good Covid measures in place including a temperature check on entry. Sat for pre dinner drinks in the bar area, great wine list. The menu offers something for all, even the fussiest of eaters plus there was an extensive specials menu. It was difficult to choose.Husband went for pan fried black Pearl king scallops which had a hint of chilli. I had melon and Parma ham a generous portion of sweet melon with sweet, salty thin cut Parma ham - delicious. We then had a pollo alla crema - tasty chicken in a copious amount of sauce, and a 16oz T bone with pepper sauce and homemade chips. Mixed veg and Italian roasties with a hint of garlic. A cheeseboard and serving of Daltons amaretto and black cherry ice cream brought the meal to a refreshing close. A rose Bardolino also went down a treat. We sat down at 745 and were not rushed through the courses. Service was very attentive. Unfortunately though it was 10pm before we knew it and a mad rush to exit via the one way system. Can’t wait to return.

Our first visit but definately not our last. Visited on thursday evening. Good menu and good food. Covid safe. So much so that the waitress split us up from some friends who were also there! All done in good humor and didn't mind because it's the right thing to do. Shows they're switched on!

I had attended a birthday meal here previously and the food did not impress me one little bit, but I was cajoled to give it another go and I am so glad that I did. On entering there was a smile and warm welcome, track and trace completed and temperature taken and shown to our table, drinks ordered which quickly arrived and time to peruse the menu. There is an excellent range of menu items, so it was a case of three courses please, food was tasty, looked good and an ample portion size. The service from the staff was excellent and very attentive, perhaps a little too much for my liking but it was still a very enjoyable dining experience.

What an amazing place . Celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary there . The food was incredible , the staff were amazing . All in all I cannot praise this restaurant more . Definitely going back . Thank you for making our special day even more special xx

We had a table booked for our anniversary in April which was cancelled due to Covid. Rebooked for last night and what a fabulous evening we had, particularly as we were greeted with a "Happy Anniversary", complimentary Prosecco and silver sprinkles on the table making it extra special The food was excellent as expected. Scallops and fresh crab meat for starters, beef fillet medallions and sea bass for mains, all beautifully cooked and presented. Thank you Armandos.

Absolutely wonderful evening. Food was superb and service excellent. Temperature checked as we arrived plus other excellent covid-19 precautions. Couldn't book for our actual anniversary on 18th as already fully booked but arrived tonight and greeted with Happy Anniversary, sparkly sprinkles on the table and complimentary glasses of Prosecco. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. Mushrooms, swordfish and lemon meringue roulade were all amazing. Just perfect.

Wow....just wow! Arrived at around 8.40 for our table reservation and was ‘signed in’ and a thermometer reading taken (all part of the new normal). Was shown to a table in the bar area downstairs and offered drinks whilst looking at the menu.Shortly taken upstairs to our table. Drinks offered to be taken from bar to table.Bread to start was a nice touch followed by our starters. My girlfriend had the calamari and I had the garlic mushrooms...they were amazing!Main courses shortly followed; with us having the Lobster Linguine and T-bone steak from the specials...wow...just wow.The food was to die for!I don’t normally have desserts but was tempted by the White Chocolate Cheesecake...unbelievably tasty and full of quality!The service was impeccable...the waitresses were cute and attentive in making the evening special. The lady host was also pleasant to deal with and made sure we were well looked after.£94 was money well spent!Well done and thank you!

We visited this great and atmospheric restaurant this evening - their opening night after Lockdown.Everything was exceedingly well managed - immaculately clean, with staff all wearing masks, and regular sanitising of everything, handrails, tables, chairs - absolutely everything! We had our temperature checked on arrival - a first for us, and very much welcomed and appreciated.The food was, as to be expected at Armando's, excellent. And the service was exemplary, with cheerful and helpful staff who were coping admirably with this "new normal".Well done to you all - a lovely return after some 4 months of miserable "stay at home" isolation.

We ate at Armando’s during a visit to Belper and were really impressed. The food is exceptionally good, the service impeccable and in such a lovely space - cosy and comfortable- we could almost imagine we were in Tuscany rather than Derbyshire on a cold winter’s evening.

Don't be fooled thinking it's just a pub or a hotel... Behind the closed doors you'll find a 1st class restaurant. Superb food, amazing venue and of course service! It was our first time but certainly more to come... A perfect pre-Christmas outing for us. Thank you for making it so special!

Our second visit. A truly superb dining experience. Excellent food that's cooked and presented well. Service that is friendly and attentive, but without being overbearing. This restaurant ticks all the right boxes. If you've not been before, do not be put off by the exterior of the building - you will not be disappointed once you are in the restaurant.

Armondo's never let you down. Yesterday they were flooded, but with hard work they were open again today and serving their wonderful food. This restaurant has a great atmosphere, excellent chefs and serving staff. Thank you to Caroline, Armondo and the team for another wonderful visit and for making our anniversary one to remember.

What a wonderful place, atmosphere setting so beautiful..we took our friends there to celebrate Birthdays and wedding anniversary. We were treated so well , the staff are so attentive and the food is absolutely fantastic,cooked and presented with perfection. A must visit very very highly recommended

We booked a few days prior for a table for 5 and no problem booking over the phone. Arrived and was greeted very well and advised of the process whereby you order drinks then sit in the lounge and review the menus before placing orders from the lounge then being taken through to the table. Surprised how nice it was inside and the pics on here do not do it justice. Food was very well cooked and flavoured, staff were on the ball and very warming. Will be back when in the area and recommending to others.

As a family of 16 people attended this restaurant and from arriving to departing the service food and staff were faultless.

Came with my partner for our anniversary and we both could not fault the place! The food, the wine, the service and atmosphere was all amazing. We will definitely be returning soon and recommending to others :)

Visited here on a busy Saturday night for the first time after reading good reviews about Armandos and was intrigued to try for our anniversary meal.

Came here a couple of years ago, heard it had good reviews. Food and staff were good. Place itself, particularly the pub area where you have a drink before is lack lustre, not cosy, or inviting

Had another fantastic meal at one of my favourite places to visit. Always consistent with great food, great service and lovely people. Front of house could not be more accommodating, Caroline as always is friendly and professional, nothing is too much trouble. Having just returned from a trip to Italy makes you realise how authentic this place is, not outdated as I read in a previous review. Armando does what he does so well why would anyone want to change that, it couldn’t be better. I look forward to many more great evenings here.

Poor food and customer service, won’t be returning again!! Highlighted an issue with two of the meals to the waitress, it wasn’t dealt with at all and we had to chase the waitress up...slow service and very outdated

We hadn't heard of this restaurant until we read the Evening Telegraph review and on the strength of the review we decided to visit.We are glad we did as we thought the quality of the food and service were excellent. The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice. The prices aren't cheap but it is worth every penny. I must of led a sheltered life though because I never imagined being able to combine a shot of Expresso and a scoop of ice cream in the same dessert.

We sat in the bar area of this venue so that we could bring our dog along. I ordered a vegan pasta dish and my partner had a steak. The food was exceptional in taste but my pasta could have done with perhaps more vegetables and a little less pasta, otherwise we were content with our meals. The pitfalls of our visit came down us to having to ask for a drink twice and the bill three times and were promised more bread that we never received.

We visited Armandos Friday evening on a last minute decision. Firstly may I say the service was very good. The food however coming with such a big reputation was simply a let down. My partners starter of buffalo mozzarella basil and tomatoes wasn’t made using top quality ingredients (which this simple dish needs) and for some reason had cucumber on. My main course of fillet steak was nothing you couldn’t get in any other restaurant really. My partners main course of cannelloni was in her words “no better than the special range at Aldi” we may have been spoilt having just come back from Italy where all ingredients were fresh and of a very high quality (a buffalo mozzarella starter there was the full ball of creamy mozzarella not a few slices of something I could buy from Tesco) the overall feeling the meal left was disappointment. With the prices which you have to pay I would be expecting fresh top quality ingredients, Definitely not what mama used to make average at best sorry guys

Armandos is like a tardis bigger on the inside. It’s got a lovely authentic feel to the pub and restaurant. The staff are polite, friendly and a pleasure to be served by. The food is sensational and they will change dishes to take out ingredients you don’t like. The tables are set out lovely with free bread and breadsticks. Food is served quickly and piping hot would definitely visit again

Great venue and food. Not been in for a few years and really don’t know why. The menu comprehensive wine and drinks good selection and not over priced. My mussels in tomato and chilli one of the best tasting anywhere in Europe. Efficient service but not hovering with all food served as ordered on time and right first time, prepared and presented well. My tip here is book in advance you will not be disappointed. Nice that we could move from our table to some large sofas to enjoy coffees our party of four on this occasion will be back for sure. Well done to Amando and team.

had a great time at this restaurant very good food from the seafood / mushroom starters to the perfect risotto / lobster,its as good as anywhere i have eaten , but what makes it stand out is the service, absolutely first class, its an easy relaxed place to dine and I would recommend it to anyone.

We popped in for a light evening meal. The staff were very accommodating and let us eat outside on what was a very hot evening. Having eaten earlier in the week at Nonno’s, Armando’s had some very stiff competition and I think Nonnos’s just pips them. But despite that, this is an excellent restaurant. Belper, you are blessed! I would happily come back to try their menu properly as I only had a salad.

I have reviewed this restaurant before - but after a break of several months we returned with friends and we still consider it to be one of the best - and certainly the best in Belper. The food is excellent - the service is excellent - and the ambience is excellent. In short - I cannot fault this restaurant.

Top top evening. Luckily remembered to book Armando’s in good time to book (highly recommended). Duly welcomed the proper way, hosts couldn’t do anything more for us. We sat out the front with a glass of white in front of the great mill in beautiful sunshine. We were ushered through in good time and the setting and food did not disappoint. Carbonara as a starter was amazing followed by the steak. I couldn’t move after. My other half had king prawn and then the seafood linguine. It has to be the best spot in the region and we had a fantastic and romantic evening. Wish we could have stayed all night. 5*

On arrival we were immediately welcomed at the bar and guided to the comfy seating where we could browse the menu and special board. We ordered prior to being seated and felt very much at home by the friendly staff and cosy surroundings. Lovely Italian style music.

My girlfriend kindly treated me to a birthday meal at Armandos and as usual the food was lovely and we were well looked after. Perfect evening and even had the waitresses sing happy birthday to me!

Lovely evening with friends on our first visit to Armandos. The restaurant had a great ambiance and was spaced out very well. Particularly loved the split level seating areas. It was like going into a cave! Excellent service from polite staff. Great selection of food on the menu but over priced for the quality of food. Soggy bruschetta to start which was obviously pre made and also had no flavour. Unfortunately one of the dishes, halibut, was dry and over cooked and not worth £23. A very poor dish. We felt the meals lacked taste and on the whole the restaurant was let down by the food. Unfortunately it did not meet our expectations of Italian food.

Great service, food perfect and it is such a beautiful place to sit and relax and enjoy an evening out.

Just spent a lovely evening at Armardos celebrating my mum's birthday. Food was great and so was the service. My husband and brother enjoyed their massive t-bone steaks while mum and I had chicken in a cream and mushroom sauce. Starters and desserts where tasty and ample. My mum especially enjoyed her lemon roulade with lemon curd ice cream which arrived with a sparkler, candle and a rendition of Happy Birthday. Would definitely recommend to others.

We’ve dined here countless times over the years and I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad meal or had bad service. The food is wonderful and the standard of service is superb.

Normally go to one of the other Italian restaurants in Belper but fancied a change so went to Armando's. So pleased we did. Staff were friendly and welcoming, food was excellent and Armando came out of the kitchen to check each table was happy with their meal. Will definitely be going back

We organised a surprise birthday celebration meal for my mum and it was absolutely fantastic. Because we were such a big group we had to pay a deposit and pre-order, but this meant all food came out together with nothing forgotten. The staff were very professional and friendly.

We booked for week end evening and were initially impressed by the veggie selections and ambience of the place.It was certainly pretty full for 7:30.We ordered some simple starters,olives and garlic bread and then we ordered Linguine with garlic and pecorini,my wife ordered Armando's mushroom stroganoff as both meals looked interesting.However my linguine was dull and uninspiring for the price ,£13.50 and the stroganoff was weird,the "creamy" element seemed over cooked,very dry,and at £13.50 was again not very nice.We gave our opinion to the waitress before we left.this was our first and last experience we will have.

We went to Armando’s as a party of 8 and were asked to pre order off a limited menu 1 week before. To be honest I thought that was a bit over kill for 8 people and there wasn’t much choice.

Booked (always a good idea) to celebrate a Friday evening birthday meal with friends, atmosphere was delightful, service was spot-on and the food was marvellous and plenty of it, well worth a visit for an excellent meal out. Ice cream Black cherry is tasty, very very tasty.

Amazing food, surrounds and service. What an amazing night we all had, everyone was so lovely, friendly and helpful :) The food was a masterpiece. the fish was lovely and fresh and the mushrooms, chicken and potatoes were seasoned beautifully.

Once again Caroline and Armando looked after us and the evening dinner experience with good friends was fantastic.

I can see why Armando is listed as one of the top restaurants around . The greeting was very friendly,but not gushing. We were shown to our table ,the dining room is very comfortable,big log fire blazing in the centre of the restaurant.

The dining area is slightly remote from the bar area - which is great. It is an excellent restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and very friendly and efficient and hospitable staff. The menu is varied and the food is well cooked, well presented and very tasty. I cannot fault the food or the service or the atmosphere.

We , went for a birthday meal . Everything was lovely , great food, service ,wine and beer, really good place , we will be back soon .

Went along for Valentine's evening. Excellent organisation - the place has a lovely ambience and tables were nicely spaced so as to offer privacy. Booking times also seemed to be staggered to help with the service and food delivery.
