We were in the Craignure area and looking for a hot drink and cakes. There was a large queue early on, but we called back later and got served easily. We sat outside which gets a great view of the ferry terminal, though it's worth beng aware that there is limited seating inside and outside, so if the queue looks big it may be difficult to get a seat. The coffee and cakes were lovely. My only small criticism is that I wasn't offered a tray to carry my order on, and because we were sitting outside, it was quite awkward to carry everything. This should have been plain to see to the woman serving me, but instead another customer offered me help. I appreciate that only counter service is offered, but this did suggest that hospitality and service were perhaps lacking and is why I never left a tip on the day.

Unfortunately I think we may have been another couple of annoying tourists needing fed before the next ferry after a long day for the lady behind the counter. No savoury food left before 4pm, only cake on offer. Lack of any smiles and friendly interaction made up our minds to drive 20 mile round trip down the road to the friendly coffee pot at Salen who happily made us fresh sandwiches with a smile.

The coffee is great and a good size for the cost. However we didn't buy lunch as we felt the sandwiches on offer and the cakes (which looked amazing) were very expensive.

Arlene's was only able to do takeaway due to staffing/covid problems. However the lovely lady brought our food out to us at the tables outside. Very nice food and coffee.

Don’t waste your money on this place. The coffee is like tepid dishwater, and I found a piece of plastic in the lemon drizzle cake. Also the service was atrocious. The miserable woman serving behind the counter is clearly in the wrong job.

On first visit we had very good lattes but not so good cake and, on the second visit, we had nothing at all! Almost incredulously, given their location next to the vehicle ferry queue, it doesn’t open until mid morning!

Service with smile? A smile and a friendly “hello” wouldn’t go amiss! It’s a shame because the food and coffee here is ok, but you can’t help feeling you are a bit of an inconvenience!

On arriving and seeing the McD-style ordering screens we weren't too hopeful. But the options were good and the process straightforward, just enter table number per the markers next to the screen and take it with you to a spare table. Hot drinks came quickly, and food not much longer. We just had breakfast/brunch. Staff are excellent; constantly clearing tables and wiping them down for the next occupants.

**Review of Lido Chip Shop in Helensburgh: A Pizza Lover’s Delight** If you’re looking for a chip shop that goes above and beyond the usual fare, Lido Chip Shop in Helensburgh is a must-visit. While known for their classic fish and chips, their pizzas are an absolute standout. Yes, you read that right—pizzas at a chip shop! And let me tell you, they are fantastic. During my recent visit, I tried their **Pepperoni and Jalapeño Pizza**, and it was nothing short of exceptional. The base was perfectly crispy yet chewy, with a generous topping of high-quality pepperoni and just the right amount of spicy jalapeños to give it a kick without overwhelming the palate. The cheese was melted to perfection, and the tomato sauce had a rich, tangy flavor that tied everything together beautifully. What impressed me most was the attention to detail. For a chip shop, the pizza felt gourmet—fresh ingredients, well-balanced flavors, and a portion size that left me thoroughly satisfied. It’s clear that Lido Chip Shop takes pride in their offerings, whether it’s their traditional dishes or their more unconventional creations like pizza. The service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was exactly what you’d expect from a cozy, local chip shop—welcoming and unpretentious. If you’re in Helensburgh and craving something a little different from the usual chip shop menu, do yourself a favor and try their pizzas. You won’t be disappointed. **Rating: 5/5** Lido Chip Shop has truly mastered the art of pizza-making, and I can’t wait to go back and try their other varieties. Highly recommended! J,

Been here a few times whilst visiting friends on the island & am told it's under new management & if so they're doing a fab job. Friendly & welcoming service & just a nice snug pub.

A great place with a superb view of Loch Lomond. The dishes are well-prepared and tasty at reasonable prices, considering the location. Friendly service.
