AREPA AND CO in Hackney

Unser erster Abend in London war ein Volltreffer. Wir saßen direkt am Kanal (im Lokal ist es eher kühl und sehr laut) und genossen ein tolles 8 Gang Tasting Menu. Sehr vielfältig & sehr lecker! Wir würden definitiv wieder kommen!

Vine aquí para celebrar el cumpleaños de mi pareja, ya que es gluten - libre y fue la elección perfecta. Deliciosa comida y excelentes cócteles, no podría estar más contento con las opciones de menú, tamaños de porciones y un servicio amable. Muy recomendable!

Pedimos compartir entre dos personas, una jarra de limonada de caña de azúcar, los tequeños, buñuelos, pastelitos y la arepa mariana, seguido de las tres leches. Era la cantidad perfecta de comida para dos y cada plato era completamente increíble por sí solo. Tantos sabores únicos y frescos, que realmente sentimos que estábamos comiendo en vacaciones. Qué lindo hallazgo junto al canal. El lugar tiene un ambiente encantador con música animada y personal amable. Sin duda volveremos!

Arepa and Co siempre da en el punto! Este pequeño y acogedor restaurante, situado junto al canal, sirve algunas arepas muy sabrosas. Cada vez que tengo un deseo por ellos, me encuentro volviendo aquí una y otra vez. Y siempre, nunca deja de ofrecer sabor y atmósfera.

We had a great brunch, exploring the foods of Venezuela. We opted for the tasting menu, although to be honest our eyes were bigger than our bellies. The dog was also catered for through his own doggy menu. He was served first, which meant that after he had eaten he curled up by our feet very content.

I'm a regular customer there. I go once a week at Arepa and co for lunch and never been disappointed. The food is always delicious and the price totally reasonable regarding the food quality. There is a little room for improvement for the service as depending on who take care of it the day you come you may experienced different quality in the service. Some waiters are really good other may forget something from time to time but the regular waiters are good.

This was our first visit and it won’t be the last. We loved the quirky, welcoming atmosphere. We chose four tapas and enjoyed every one. Being used to tapas we found these deliciously different. The service was excellent and we enjoyed watching the boats go by on the canal. A very nice bottle of wine rounded off an enjoyable brunch. A special place in an interesting location.

Been a couple of times to Arepa. Great food, wonderful staff and a lovely location along the canal. Would definitely recommend and go again.

Our visit to Arepa & Co. was due to a friends recommendation, and it lived up to the hype. We went as a group of four to try their dinner menu. For starters, we had the Yuca fries and the Tajadas to share. Our favourite of the two was definitely the Yuca fries, especially when dipped with the garlic mayo. This is not to take away from the tajadas. We're a big fan of fried plantain, and it tasted good too. For our mains our group had two bowls- Pabellon Criollo (shredded beef) and the Pabellon Pork (shredded pork), unfortunately, it was our friends who ate this and not us, we don’t know how it tasted but it looked really good. We had the Pollo Frito Arepa (fried chicken) and the Pernil Cachapas (pork). All the food looked as good as it tasted. Everything was well seasoned and had a somewhat homemade feel to them. A few highlights were the cachapas, which are corn dough pancakes. we felt like they really complimented the pork. The Arepa was definitely the best dish. The crunchy fried chicken with the cornbread is an unmatched duo. However, we did feel like the portion sizes were too small. We all finished our meals craving some more. The plan was to try their Tres Leches, which is a soft sponge soaked in three different milks, but they had run out. Overall, the food was amazing. The vibes were great, and we will definitely be returning.

It’s nice to try something really different for a change. I loved the brunch plates, carefully cooked and presented, decent portions and served with a lovely Arepa. Was actually enough for a lunch! Some of the other brunch options did look a bit lighter though. Staff were lovely, and the setting is very nice right next to the canal. Will 100% return.

A friend and I visited Arepa & Co Haggerston in December 2022 for lunch. The restaurant has a spectacular view and a scenic walk along the Canal, not to mention several vegetarian and meat choices on their menu, that make it worth a visit. The food, however, is not very flavourful and I didn't particularly enjoy most of the dishes we ordered (in particular, the Veggie bowl). Unfortunately, on the day we visited, the restaurant did not have chicken either, and was unable to prepare any dishes with it. The service, portion size, and the view lend themselves to this being worth a try and some value for money.

My stomach was grateful for the food quality in Arepas, I could feel it was cooked with love, care and quality ingredients.

Visited early for lunch. Sat outside in a small area where the sun was shining. We ordered the meal deal which was a small bowl of food and a lemonade. The bowl of food was chicken and was delicious, great combination of flavours. The home made lemonade was so very nice. Overall a great find for lunch and definitely will return again

This once was a nicely owner-run cafe which has completely lost its charme. There’s mainly English speaking personnel,accompanied by a madrina who offsets her laziness with arrogance. 7 staff and I had to go after my food. Poorly managed. Really disappointing experience, food was way below average with microwaved beans and cold chicken, and they don’t even have hot tomato sauce .

The waiters was polite and the service was quite fast. The food was so good ! I came with my family and the welcoming was good. I really recommend this restaurant. ( Please don’t judge my English, I’m French ).

Great vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Dishes were full of flavour and you could taste the freshness of the ingredients. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Cocktails were superb!

Been desperate to go for ages and was worth the wait. Great staff. Authentic pabellon, cachapas and arepas. So lovely to have a perfectly chilled Polar in my hand again! Typically Venezuelan welcoming and relaxed vibe. Loved it.

We had dinner here last night with our family and it was our first visit. We had booked a table, which I would recommend as it was very busy. On arrival a very friendly greeting and seated straight away. Great music and good vibe. We were given an app for the menu, (would have preferred a paper version) and then our order was taken quickly. Food arrived and it was amazing. All freshly cooked the flavour combinations and the size of the mains was spot on. Staff were very attentive and friendly. We wish they were more local to us but would definitely make the trek to visit them again!

Lovely venue with excellent customer service. The food was amazing... we ordered a lot of as wanted to try all of it. Quality of the food was outstanding and the flavours complimented each other perfectly. We will definitely be returning and I can’t wait!

Had lunch here on 3 December to celebrate my birthday! The food was excellent as were the Venezuelan cocktails. The location of the restaurant is great; overlooking the canal! The service was slick and friendly. I will certainly be returning! Well done to all concerned!

Realmente disfruté de esta pequeña joya. La comida salió caliente y sabrosa, ¡las alitas de pollo deshuesadas eran una delicia crujiente! El plato de carne estaba tierno y una porción de buen tamaño. Algunas de las inmersiones fueron un poco agrias, pero en general disfrutamos de las vistas del río, el servicio amable y esperamos volver pronto.

We had a fabulous brunch, sitting on the little balcony terrace overlooking Regents Canal. I absolutely loved the food, service and prices were all good. That was my first time trying out Venezuelan cuisine and I will definitely have it again. Well recommended!

Mi amigo y yo cenamos aquí hoy (26 de agosto de 2020) y desde que llegamos nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos y el personal fue muy servicial. No recuerdo sus nombres, pero hablamos con 3 miembros diferentes del personal (una mujer rubia, 2 hombres con cabello oscuro), fueron agradables y genuinos. Hablamos con uno de los gerentes mientras le preguntamos si algún miembro del personal era venezolano y fue un placer absoluto. El restaurante estaba lleno pero esto no alteró su servicio o atención. Era la primera vez que comíamos comida venezolana y fue increíble y conocemos nuestra comida.A veces, la gente se queja rápidamente en TripAdvisor o en las plataformas de redes sociales, así que quería tomarme el tiempo para compartir lo satisfechos que estábamos con este restaurante.Muchas gracias, les diremos a todos los que conocemos que prueben aquí.Dos mujeres sonrientes alrededor de las 3 pm

El año pasado no podía decirte qué era una Arepa y ahora es una de mis comidas favoritas y tengo que agradecer este lugar (Mención honorífica a la primera Arepa que probé en un camión de comida callejera en Kings X)Para ser honesto, he estado aquí varias veces y es difícil vencer al Pabell n - (carne deshebrada. Cheddar. Frijoles negros. Plátanos) una combinación hecha en el cielo. La Arepa de pollo frito también es genial.Me tomó algunas visitas incluso para probar los otros platos, así que no puedo hablar sobre todo el menú, pero no te decepcionará.Un lugar para relajarse, así que no venga aquí esperando que lo esperen de pies y manos.Ven a por la comida y prueba la limonada.Consejo: si está leyendo esto en agosto de 2020 mientras se está ejecutando el programa 'Eat Out To Help Out', entonces es el mejor momento para visitarlo.

La comida buenísima y el servicio superior! Nos sirvieron nuestro plato favorito aún estando fuera de carta ese día para celebrar una ocasión especial. Muy recomendable!

Tasty food, easy to read menu, friendly staff and has a nice feel to the place. Slight drawback was the price but hey, it’s London after all!

Food is not bad. The breakfast/brunch was tasty. Unfortunately the manager was quite rude on request to get the bill and also use the bathroom (of which there was only one & a queue). Not sure would return as experience was not too great.

Original recipes, tasty food and flawless service from Arepa & Co in Haggerston. Angelo took great care of us. He was organically attentive and pleasant. When I was trying to decide between two dishes he suggested a great "off-menu" hybrid arepa. Nice thinking.The location is really nice. It makes the perfect stop for anyone walking along the canal. Service was snappy. We arrived at 19h45, and left by 21h30 eating at nice chilled pace. The idea is to get a bunch of "small plates" as appetizers and then follow with mains. In Venezuela "small plates" and mains are served and eaten together so if you want "small plates" as a starter just let the staff know. My particular favourite were the Bunuelos and then pretty much every arepa and the tres leches for desert.It was all great. I'm racking my brains to find anything useful, original or constructive to say but it really was all good. Give it a try you won't be disappointed and then try their Bethnal Green branch for a change of scene - Omar is great there.

Siendo venezolano, puedo decir que este restaurante ofrece un enfoque más fusión a nuestra cocina tradicional. No es lo que estaba buscando, pero era algo sabroso.Lo que realmente recuerdo es el mal servicio. Estuve con algunos amigos y esperamos mucho tiempo para que la camarera tomara nuestro pedido, años para tener nuestra comida en la mesa e incluso un poco más, ya que nos faltaba un plato.No gastaría un centavo aquí (y no lo haré en el futuro)

We visited for dinner on a Wednesday and found the place half full. This place isn’t big though, so bear that in mind if there’s more than four of you coming (so book).I’m not familiar with Venezuelan cuisine but found everything that we ordered tasty. Portion sizes did seem a little small, however we found they were actually quite filling.

Went with friends to have our Christmas dinner and could not be happier! We were a group of 16 people and they managed to be very well organized, service was great and food amazing! Would definitely recommend it and will be back for sure! Thank you guys, you rock!!

We tried the pancake with pork and chips with garlic sauce. The potatoes were really nice and tasty. As well as the garlic sauce. About the pancake I really liked the flavor of the pork with the onion and the herbs. But I didn't like a lot the pancake that was very sweet. But this is something subjective. About the store. Nice cosy place but they had the aircon on and it was freezing. Most of the customers mentioned that. If you are in the area make a visit. Great view to the canal.

We visited for the second time after falling in love with the food and the service the first time round. Unfortunately it was a busy day and there was lots of new staff on training which lead to many mix ups on our order and delays.

Fui con mi esposa para un brunch. Pedimos dos platos (arepas) y algunas papas fritas de yuca para compartir. Eso es todo. Las porciones eran muy pequeñas, mi plato (salmón chimichanga) costó 12 GBP! Fue de mal gusto. solo teníamos agua del grifo y pagamos 32 GBP. El servicio fue terrible. No volveré de nuevo.

The food here is really lovely. I also like the option to have a smaller portion of the bowls, which is the right amount for me. Also, try the yuca chips. They’re amazing!

La comida está bien, pero el servicio es muy desorganizado. Pedimos algunos entrantes y bebidas para comenzar y la comida llegó unos 15 minutos más tarde, pero las bebidas tardaron unos 30 minutos en ser servidos (pedimos 2 cervezas, 2 coca-cola y 2 cócteles). Hubo un error en uno de los cócteles y cuando llamé a la camarera para decirle que no había pedido esa bebida, me dijo que iba a consultar con el cantinero. Regresó más de 5 minutos después para preguntarme si quería mantener ese cóctel o comprar el que pedí. . .

I live across the road and pop in here occasionally with my partner. We love it every time, the food is interesting and our host(forgive me I have forgotten his name, but he's great) is always giving us information information about the cuisine and the origin. It's a super cool place and a credit to the area. I really love it. My gf is a vegetarian and they couldn't have been more helpful in their recommendations.

I have never had this cuisine before but liked it and would have it again. I did find though that portions are small and in order to be full I would need a lot more (maybe I am just greety). The setting is lovely right by the canal and the music and atmosphere were both great. The staff were friendly enough so all in all I would recommend this place especially if you have not had Venezuelan food before.

Arepa & co. is one of my locals, and that might be why I don't visit it as often as I should. I popped in on Mothering Sunday for a quick afternoon "snack" and was surprised with a lovely cocktail on the house to celebrate mother's day! The staff seemed friendlier and more helpful than I remembered last time I visited.

I’ll start off with the fact that this place is a 5 minute walk from my flat and if needed, we even order from here via Uber Eats. It’s one of the first places I recommend to friends or new members of the community. This is as far as you need to go for an authentic taste of Venezuela.

The menu looks strange you first read it but be ready to be surprised when the food arrives. The small plates to share are all delicious and the Arepas and Cachapas are amazing. Staff very friendly and the view to the canal during the day is stunning. Great place to catch up with friends or simple sip a coffee whilst you see the swans and boats pass by.

As a Venezuelan person I know how our food should taste... I used to come to this place when just opened and the quality of the food was much better... now it seems to be tasteless, portions are smaller and more expensive....

As you read most of the reviews pertaining to this establishment your realize that the consistent problem has not been resolved, and that problem is the service.

Mi fermo qui per un pranzo con vista sul canale in una bella giornata di sole. Ordino una “big bowl” con carne, ma mi arriva un piattino misero che definirei un antipasto. I pancake di mais sono invece gustosi. Il servizio è sorridente ma disattento, le bevande mi sono arrivate molto dopo il cibo. Il conto è decisamente alto per quello che offrono. Non tornerò e non lo consiglio

The food was good and good in quantity. The place is perfect especially in summer because it is located on the banks of the canal. The waiters were super attentive, impeccable customer service. It is missing something more in the desserts.

El servicio era amable pero espantoso. Esperamos al menos media hora para comida bastante básica. Esto debería haber tomado 10 minutos como máximo. Se olvidaron la mitad del pedido. Shambolic. Es una pena. Claramente enormemente popular entre los ex venezolanos, pero hay cien lugares mejores dentro de un radio de media milla. #decepcionado

Gick förbi Arepa & Co vår första kväll i London. Stannade till och testade varsin Arepa (väldigt god) och två klassiska desserter från Venezuela. De sistnämnda var också goda men kanske aningen stora.

When staying in central London, Haggerston is a bit far off and it was raining, so it took me a while to get here. From the overground rail station, it is just a ten minute walk along the de Beauvoir estate and down to the Regents Canal.

Llegamos, y nos recibió muy amablemente el dueño. Nos instalamos en una mesa con vista al canal. Decoración simpática, que recuerda una churruata playera de Venezuela. Comimos diviiiiiiiiiiiiino, arepas, arepas y más arepas. Tomamos polar!!!! Lo pasamos sabroso. Nos encantó venir

We had a leisurely walk along the canal while heading for Arepa & Co on Paradise Row. As it was Sunday the restaurant was busy so we had a short wait for a table in this popular slightly compact venue. Staff were welcoming and the menu offers a great selection of gluten free choices with only the cheese pastries and some deserts being off limits. As we were having brunch we opted for the chachapa jardinera and vegetarian desayuno. The corn pancake was delicious and well filled with grilled vegetables and goats cheese. The breakfast had a good selection with the black beans and fried plantain being particularly tasty. Along with a couple of drinks and the service charge, the bill came to £27 which was good value for what we had. Would happily return.

Was an ok experience as far as the food goes. Service was a bit patchy with stuff not available (coffee) and not much compensation or changes available. It was ok though, nice view.

We really enjoyed our visit to Arepa & Co this weekend! The view of the canal is really gorgeous from the restaurant, and the staff are quite pleasant. We got the tequeños, domino, pabellón criollo and the mullata cachapas respectively! Everything came out hot, well presented and went down a treat! There’s a huge and very welcome focus on plantain and cheese, and there are great vegetarian options available at the restaurant. The tequeños came with this DIVINE guava sauce, and the cachapa comes with two sauces that complement it so well. The whole experience was a welcome change of cuisine in general! The restaurant is stocked with wooden chairs, and can be a bit of a squeeze for moving walking aids/wheelchairs through it - but the staff are on hand and ready to help. All in all, I really enjoyed the unique, home-cooked feel, the gentle ambiance and the lovely canal-side views and atmosphere. Worth it! We’ll definitely be back but until then, we’ll get our fill from home since they deliver!

I was nervous arriving with my Son as on the face of it there was nothing on the menu i would choose. So wrong... best brunch in a long time. Try it all!

This is the place where you can find a real Arepa. The location is amazing, it is by a canal so you get those amazing East London views while you enjoy arepas.
