Founds this pop-up by accident one day and made a point of returning the next. Brilliant local seafood, thoughtful and tasty accompanying ingredients, well cooked and delightfully served.

Stopped here for lunch while out exploring Barra and I’m so glad I did. I had a really delicious hot smoked salmon, cream cheese with dill and lightly pickled cucumbers. They have tables there so you can enjoy a great view while eating. It’s right at the ferry port so super handy if you are waiting for the ferry. Definitely worth a visit

We visited for lunch and were not disappointed. I had the halloumi po boy and it was super fresh, zingy and tasty. My husband enjoyed his fish tacos. A really nice addition to the island for a quick lunch as the cafe in the airport and the Vatersay cafe were closed when we were there.

Like a posh food truck - excellent good e,g, venison roll, lango roll, etc. There was a long wait (30m) and this is not light on budget... but what a view! What delicious rolls!

Popped in on motorbike for a wee bite. Venison toastie and lobster roll with seaweed roast potatoes. Fantastic food right at the eriskay ferry terminal. Highly recommended.

Absolutely phenomenal food from the truck, we had Spicy Scampi Po'Boy and a few of the homemade cakes from the cafe, if you're visiting Barra this place needs to be on you're agenda. And don't forget to say hello to the dogs! Chico

Local produce, cooked to order. A wee gem at the ferry point going from Barra to Eriskay. Cheery couple churn out seafood based dishes to order for very reasonable prices, in a stunning location looking towards Eriskay and the UIsts.

We were recommended to visit the food truck by the staff at Heathbank (also v good) and we’re delighted that we followed their advice. The food is cooked to order (so don’t go if you are in a rush), the service is great and the food itself is delicious. We enjoyed our lunch so much that we went back for breakfast the next morning. Barra is a superb wee island and the food truck is absolutely fabulous. Highly recommend.

The seafood shack is parked in the car park for the Ardmhor ferry to Eriskay. We made a special trip to find it but if you're on the way to the ferry, do allow plenty of time before boarding the ferry. Food is freshly cooked to order and if it's a typically warm, sunny day that you'd expect on Barra then it's great to sit on the wooden benches and soak up the view of the white sand beaches and azure sea.

Inspired by the “EatDrinkHebrides” trail map, popped in to collect a picnic lunch during a Hebridean road trip. We had the most amazing toasties and hot chocolate. Handy for the ferry. Worth a detour!!

OK food & drinks when you finally get them, but with the most laughably chaotic ordering and serving system we've ever come across. Young staff were doing their best, but someone needs to take this place by the scruff of the neck and devise a clearer way of letting guests know which door to go in, which desk to queue at and where to wait the 15 minutes or so to get the hot drink and slice of cake they've ordered.

Great location (central to town and opposite the Lewis Castle with view of the water and the castle) Most genuinely kind people in the hotel - from getting a corkscrew to the room to securing a reservation at the restaurant, they were quick to help with a smile or a hearty laugh that made me feel cared for. The hotel restaurant is one of the best ones I tried in town. Plenty options, fresh ingredients and well executed dishes. Our room is a bit dated but comfortable and spacious.

Just visited the cafe for lunch, it was OK, asked for a tuna sandwich on brown bread as I'm diabetic but got it on white😠 Prices were reasonable and great views of the harbour from window seats.

Such a warm welcome awaits you from all staff at doune braes hotel who go out of their way to make your stay so comfortable. Rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. Full Scottish breakfast provided is perfect served by smiling friendly staff. Evening meal was very tasty we had Venison cassoulette followed by sticky toffee pudding perfect after a day walking. The hotel were also very welcoming to our dog and even provided a separate eating area off the main dining room. I still can't understand any negative reviews as yes the hotel maybe a little older but everything is in good order and we had a very relaxing stay. We will definitely be back as soon as possible 😊
