Really friendly guy and some good coffee and little breakfast! Nice location just outside the city center. And a good reason to cross one of the beautiful bridges.

This our local cafe and we’re so glad it is! First of all the coffee is fab plus there is a selection of really good teas- served in a teapot - not just a bag and some water! Baguettes, paninis and bagels are the standard fare- the tomato, mozzarella and pesto is my fave -served with outstanding homemade coleslaw; oh yes- and really good cheese scones. And then there are the cakes!! But what makes this place special is Bob, the owner -interesting, artistic guy with a great sense of humour, loves a chat and really wants to develop a sense of community and space for all. Anyway- don’t take our word for it - go and see for yourself!! Ps the hot chocolates are to die for!

Went in with my boyfriend a few weeks ago for some coffee and to check the place out since we go to the butchers next door pretty often. They guy serving (I think he's the owner) was absolutely lovely. So chatty and talked to us about all the small local businesses. He also made the rocky road he had on sale. It was the best rocky road I've ever had. White chocolate and cherry. If you are reading thing. Please. Please. Make it all the time.

A nice little cafe that offers cakes, food and coffee (the menu is quite limited - though the very nice owner, who we got chatting to, said they plan to expand - but it has vegetarian options). Holds a number of community events, too.

Very pleasant local cafe. Perhaps not the widest range of food and drinks though reasonably priced and very friendly and most importantly they serve very good coffee. Definitely worth a visit should you be passing by.

Popped to archsixteen late afternoon on Saturday which happened to be a pleasant sunny day. The area which is on the Gateshead side of the High Level Bridge has seen some quirky new shops, cafes and bars open. Serving lovely coffee, beers etc. Welcoming owner happy to chat and talk about the area etc. We sat outside in the sun and chilled. We decided that the sun deserved to be toasted with a beer before it set. Arch sixteen and the block & bottle butchers next door hold events and evenings which we will check out in the future. They are worth following on social media as well. Will be returning for coffee or beers.

Lovely lady running this place and actually listens when you say how strong you want your coffee (rather than most who give you want they think). She had great info on other local businesses and the good stops for food on the quayside. Funky cafe spot too, we'll be back.

The owner is lovely and the coffee outstanding. We had food and although the menu focuses on light bites and is quite small the food is refreshingly delicious and unusual.

If staying in the city as my friend and I did I would recommend a walk across the bridge to enjoy a fine breakfast. Seafood lovers, this is the place to go. I enjoyed amazing crab on toast for only £4.50!! My friend also raved about the avocado on toast as she didn't eat seafood. Very comfortable couches and a nice coffee to accompany the food. Highly recommend!

Stopped by for brunch at this delightful cafe with my daughter after a spa morning at the Hilton (just down the road). The cafe has an open, fresh and modern yet still cost feel and the Food was fabulous - I had the crab and avocado on sourdough. All fresh ingredients, well presented and good helpings and value for money. My daughter had the one bacon and tomato toasted sandwich which was equally as good. Not a spot of fat on the bacon which had been carefully trimmed. Coffee was fresh and fab. Altogether a great little place that you wouldn't regret visiting. Can't wait to go back!

Having a day playing tourist on Tyneside, in my old home town. Wandered across High Level Bridge for the first time in many years and found this cafe opposite where I worked 40 years ago.A railway arch neatly transformed into a comfy modern friendly eaterie, how times have changed. We ordered bacon sandwiches and coffees, which were excellent quality and value, and filled us up for the rest of our day. Simple concept well executed.

Friday 10 October saw the first, hopefully of many, live music events at Arch 16. A performance are was set up at the rear of the café where a selection of local musicians played to crowd of around 25. Principally an acoustic set played through a small PA system, once the lights had dimmed, the atmosphere was made.A couple of the artists really shone in my eyes, but the "open mike" section returned some big surprises... I mean, who ever thought that funk & soul tunes would sound so cool on an acoustic guitar!Next... let's see what they do for Halloween.

I've eaten here twice now not been impressed with the choice or standard. I asked for the halloumi and beetroot on toasted sourdough bread but without the beetroot. The food arrived with beetroot, the bread cold and the halloumi barely heated. Prices aren't displayed for lunch "options" either so the til can be an unpleasant surprise. Pleasant enough for a tea or coffee but I'd definitely not be eating here again anytime soon.

I had been for a walk in Newcastle and after walking across the High Level bridge I discovered this little cafe. I only wanted a snack and ordered the nettle cheese and red onion toastie which had a lovely side salad. It was the nicest toastie I've ever had. Delicious and not like the normal bland toasties you get anywhere else. Washed down with a lovely cup of tea I was refreshed for the rest of the walk. The cafe has free wi-fi too and I had a nice chat with the owner. In the railway arches there are other interesting shops including the vintage shop next door.

Two of us popped down for a quick breakfast. We sat outside with the sun beating down, relaxing as this historic part of Gateshead came to life on a Sunday morning, beside the iconic High Level bridge, with the sound of occasional trains rumbling gently overhead. We ordered coffee, a bacon sandwich and a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. The bacon was lean and plentiful and the bread crusty - none of that limp sliced tasteless stuff! The bagel was fresh and the filling seasoned with just the right amount of ground black pepper! Double yum!

We were shown this little gem of a coffee shop by a friendly local who we met by chance. We were very grateful to him that he did so, as we would probably not have found it otherwise. It will definitely be visited again next time we are in the area. Excellent choices on the menu, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, wonderful food, coffee and service. I chose the North Shields potted crab with toasted sourdough bread and butter, which was fresh and delicious. If I lived locally, this would be a frequent haunt. What a good use of a railway arch! Highly recommended.

Any visit to Newcastle should involve a walk across the Tyne. We did and found this delightful café by accident. The food was of high quality boasting fresh crab from the coast and delicious sourdough bread. The prices were very reasonable and the proprietor interesting and welcoming with a wealth of local knowledge. Suffice to say that we went back for our final breakfast.

Just eaten here on my lunch break. I've often walked by and been curious but eventually stopped by today. The menu is small but perfectly formed. I had North Shields potted crab with toast and butter. The crab was fresh and tasty and very reasonably priced too. The cafe itself is modern, bright and airy yet the sound of trains driving overhead gives an old-fashioned twist. Comfortable seating, nice clientelle and good service.I tried to catch the lady's name who was serving but didn't manage to. She was very helpful, polite and answered all of my questions with a smile (how long has it been open, what are the opening hours etc). I will definitely be going back.

Very disappointed this previously pleasant cafe is now a "sweetie shop". Still selling teas and coffees (slowly) in takeaway containers; but the focus is clearly now "takeaway".
