Appleby Inn Hotel Restaurant in North West Leicestershire

8 family members booked for a meal while visiting the area. The food is first class,every dish was spot on.As other people have mentioned the portions are very generous. I would definitely recommend the Appleby inn,it is excellent.

Fantastic hotel and restaurant. Staff are fabulous and very helpful. The food is fresh and tasty 10/10.

Handy location. The restaurant was great and both dinner & breakfast were really good. The room was clean and a good size for 3 of us, but there were a couple of downsides. Firstly, there wasn't a net curtain covering our bedroom window which looked out onto other bedrooms & the rear kitchen entrance. The room itself was really hot which meant that none of us slept well. We couldn't open the window as it was too noisy, and there was no fan. The rooms were also not very soundproofed.

Food here is spot on plus the rooms are pretty good too! Service is fantastic and I'll tell you why. It was a little cold one night so I took the duvet from the spare bed as an extra cover. When I returned the following evening I was surprised to see they had added a stand alone radiator to my room. I thought this was so considerate! The cleaners had obviously noticed the fact that there were two duvets on my bed and decided to give me a radiator to keep me warm. So thoughtful so thank you very much! 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Popped in for a quick Drink at The Appleby Inn. When entering was greeting my friendly and helpful staff. The Guinness was 10/10.

Haven't stayed here but went for lunch and the food was superb! Portions are huge! Hats off to the chef! All the staff we met were friendly efficient and very welcoming. Highly recommend and will be visiting again 😀

Nice hotel just up the road from the twycross zoo. Service was great. Our room was extremely warm through the night and only a tiny window for ventilation. There was no way to control the heating either. The restaurant food was nice but the portions were massive. We had breakfast and was very impressed with it. But don't expect a buffet style. They have a continental breakfast you can help yourself to but the hot food is made fresh to order.

Great stay, no faults really but for the practicality of other Googlers: 1. The fire doors might be a SMIDGE bit heavy for some 2. Walls are kind of thin, so light sleepers beware 3. Not really spoilt for choice for breakfast (but quality is spot on) 4. The restaurant food is fantastic - literally compliments to the chef, steak and gammon was cooked to perfection 5. Room and bathroom was immaculate in terms of cleanliness, all basic amenities provided

I have been a loyal customer with the Appleby for years however a recent family visit has disappointed me. The food was bang average pub grub- lovely and you know what you’re getting. However, the Appleby have once again put their prices up and it’s now £16.95 for a lasagne- it’s not even a good meal it’s lacklustre at best yet they are once again putting prices up. It has disappointed that the Appleby have once again put prices up because I know the cost of ingredients and wages etc are rising as the country gets more expensive however I find this unreasonable and disheartening and this is why many families are now avoiding this fine pub at all costs.

We were visiting family who had booked a table on Saturday night as they regularly visit the restaurant. The menu has something for everyone, and the food is plentiful. We were greeted by Amanda, who is an absolute credit to the restaurant. She was extremely knowledgeable, fun, friendly, and welcoming. We will definitely return again. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

We didn't stay here but had a super lunch in the restaurant. Warning... the portions are huge! Staff were great, helpful and attentive without being overbearing.

This is one of our main `go to` places. The food is always excellent and the service is top notch. It`s a big place so you can nearly always get in. I`ve never had a bad meal here and we have been coming here for years. I had the calzone for the 2nd time and it beat me yet again ! It was HUGE. I took what was left back home in a doggy box. I will 100% be back. A good varied menu and although the prices have increased of recent months still feel its reasonable value. Deserts are excellent. Large car park and a play area for the kids if you`ve got youung ones.

Went for Xmas eve meal with family. Service and food were great.

Stopped off for food . Staff all pleasant and friendly, drinks arrived to the table within 5 min, the food was delivered to the table within 10 minutes. Our meals where hot ,fresh and very tasty.

Great place for a group meal. Portions are big! Service excellent, especially dealing with so many people. Plenty of parking.

Just went for a meal with the family it was my son's 50 th birthday had a lovely meal and the staff were very friendly and helpful

Lovely place for our overnight stay from Bristol to Scarborough. Rooms very roomy and spotlessly clean. The only tiny 2 issues were no milk on tray with tea and coffee but we asked for some and we were given them so no problem. The only other issue was there was only 1 smallish bath towel and only 1 hand towel. We did manage to share them after our shower but 1 of each for each guest would be better. Other than that all was great and we would defo stay again and we would recommend to others. The breakfast was amazing. Loads of choice and piping hot. A nice restaurant on site we had a lovely evening meal.

Made to feel welcome by reception staff. Rooms clean, tidy and good value for money. However, an awful noise went off at 5.30 which disturbed my sleep. I could hear foot steps and noise above my room which was also disturbing. I will not be returning.

We arrived on a Saturday night for a pre booked evening meal, overnight stay & morning breakfast. Definitely would advise booking a table as it was busy & we seemed to get moved about but the staff were helpful, our three meals arrived very quickly, were of a decent standard & I’d say priced above average. Room was basic but clean, shower fine in the morning so no problems, breakfast was better than we expected, plenty of help yourself cereals & drinks followed by a fresh cooked breakfast to order, all in a nice overall experience for my family at a very fair price, noticed a lot were staying that had visited the area, Twycross zoo, Xmas markets etc so we would be happy to return if in the area.

Stayed here for one night as a wee break away. The service at breakfast was outstanding, thank you to Ellie, Sophie and George. Food was so good and filling, will defo visit again. Very advisable to book a table if you want to dine later in the day.

Used to be my favourite place to go, but so many changes in staff, no more familiar faces, it's lost that local feeling, food slipped down hill a little also

We had an issue with our electrics in the house so needed a room for the night at short notice. I called the Appleby Inn and they booked us in and said to come down as soon as we’re ready. Upon arrival we were greeted by really friendly reception staff who showed us to our room. The staff in the restaurant were awesome and the food was great at a good price. As we didn’t know what time the emergency electrician was coming out the next we asked if we could stay in the room during the following day time and accommodations were made for us. They even knocked on our door to see if we wanted any more tea, coffee or loo roll in the room! Every team member was lovely and friendly. Even though we don’t live far away we will probably stop again! Great place to stay can’t recommend it enough!!

Check-in was efficient. Our room was clean, tidy and had all we needed (bed, shower room, toilet, sink, kettle, tea bags etc). The bed was comfy and the curtains were good. The decoration is a little dated, but this kind of adds to the quirk of the hotel. Great location for a visit to the zoo. Food in the restaurant was hot, tasty and delicious - very filling and very popular. We will be staying again when next in the area.

Great service and food as always

Booked this place for proximity to Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Received a lukewarm reception and then struggled up to our room in near darkness. Was unfortunately stationed by a connecting hall door in sore need of oiling and the floors creaked incessantly. The room was spartan and clean but not ideal for those who require/like proximate power points near the bed. Room was pretty chilly and it backed onto the rear yard of the in-house restaurant so staff were out there smoking and talking loudly after 10pm. WiFi was good as was the restaurant. Expansive menu, robust and tasty portions (Mediterranean salad and chicken enchiladas pictured) so stop in for a meal.

Only went for Sunday lunch. Food and service was first class.

Loved the hotel, friendly staff and very clean. The only reason for 4 star on the rooms was that the beds seemed to be a bit hard and uncomfortable to lay on. Don't let this put you off, another visit when we can is worth it. Thank you to everyone there.

Reviewing restaurant only. Superb . Huge car park, nice quiet rural location , quick access to M42 . Staff were lovely. Food is excellent . Table for 6 adults , we all enjoyed our food . Spacious venue , loads of room to move about . Plenty of space between tables. Toilets clean . Nice atmosphere. Will definitely return.

Great hotel, the oldy world decor adds to the charm of this place! Rooms were a good size with everything you need. Food was excellent!!! Would've happily paid a lot more for the quality they served. Breakfast was fantastic we will definitely be returning for what I've been told is an excellent Sunday lunch!!

We stayed as we were attending a wedding nearby, it was basic and quite dated. There was a funny smell throughout the building. The breakfast was expensive for what it was and they got it wrong first time and the lady serving was pretty abrupt. It’s fine for a one night stay.

Stayed for one night on the way to the Peak District. We arrived late so didn’t use the bar in the evening but the family room was great and had enough room to bring our bikes inside for the night too. A good breakfast the following morning too, good location as not far off the main route.

Rooms are fairly basic, with no electrical sockets near to the bed. The toilet blocked on a daily basis and wouldn't flush. On the plus side, the staff were really friendly and helpful and the food is excellent!

Stayed for dinner and for the night. Food was absolutely exceptional, great portions, extremely tasty and definitely worth the money. Service from the staff was fantastic and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. Rooms were very nice and clean but, charger sockets next to the bed side tables would have been the cherry ontop for me. Overall great experience and would definitely come back.

Appleby Inn is a nice hotel for a short stay while visiting the local area. It is very convenient for the M42 and local airports Birmingham and East Midlands. The rooms are clean and tidy, although furniture is a little dated, but in my opinion, as long as it's clean and comfortable, that's all that matters. Rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer, and ironing board. Breakfast is very good. Restaurant meals were also very nice, all very reasonably priced. There are rooms on the ground floor for people with disabilities, no lifts to the first floors, though. There is also a children's play area. Ample carparking.

Stopped for food here. It was well priced and large portions. My wife even said it was excellent and she's a fussy eater!

Came for a family meal drinks desserts and starters we had a special occasion which me and my husband spent over 500 pounds the waitress was lovely but the male colleagues were miserable even the young lad who too our money no Thankyou have you had a good night nothing wow won’t be going there again will take our money some where else just take the money nothing else manners are appalling

Rooms could do with air-conditioning because of busy road outside. But all in all staff and service is spot on.

Very welcoming and comfortable in peaceful surroundings. Friendly staff who are always on hand and ready to help. Excellent breakfast and good verity restaurant menu. Well stocked bar.

A great little family run place ideally situated for the Twycross zoo.

Rooms are basic, but clean and newly refurbished. Food is very good with huge portions. Lamb chops were huge and cooked just right.

I can't really fault the Appleby Inn, the service was great, staff friendly and helpful. The food was good, the place was very clean and beds comfortable. Lots of parking. The only suggestion icould give would be to have a small fridge in the rooms. Would definitely stay here again.

Used to be the go to place to eat but last two visits the food has been over cooked ? Not sure if they’ve changed chef or set up but food quality nowhere near the same. Such a shame but will think twice before returning.

Fantastic family run hotel. I went here with a coach party and really enjoyed it. Nice big car park, which was easy to park the coach in. The staff were all very polite and helpful. The room I had perhaps needed a lick of paint although the bathroom looked recently refurbished and was spotless. The food was to die for. Fantastic evening meals and great breakfast choice too. Would certainly recommend staying here.

Extensive menu, food second to none, absolutely delicious

Food OK. Busy but friendly staff.

The food was lovely and we were well looked after. The pices are reasonable too.

Good location, lovely staff very accommodating, great play area. Large group ordered a variety of dishes none of the party enjoyed their meals, kids chicken nuggets looked very sad. We use to eat here often but the food quality is not a spot on what it use to be. Probably alright for a pint and chips.

Good hotel just off the M42. Large free carpark. Rooms large and clean with good size TV. Excellent restaurant serving good quality food with sizable portions. Varied menu with specials board. Good selection of beers and wines. Breakfast freshly cooked and served at table. Highly recommend

Would all have been 5 stars except for 2 things! Why no toilet brush available!!?? No non slip matbin shower tray! Tray get slippery and no supporting handles available do guests have used shower head riser rail to hold onto and as a result it comes off wall at bottom of riser!!!

I stayed at the Appleby Inn last night. A clean room with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent as was the reasonably priced evening meal.

Needed a hotel near to where I was dropping off and collecting parts and although I usually use the big chain hotels, this was the most convenient to my needs, Early check in no extra cost wifi included (bonus) my room was a ground floor annex with huge wet room, comfortable bed, fridge, tea and coffee, and parking directly outside couldn't ask for more. Food was delicious and my steak cooled exactly how I like it "Blue" its amazing how many restaurants cannot cook a blue steak, Appleby chefs did perfect, Breakfast is included in room rate and excellent choice including a smaller one which was perfect for me, but also offer a larger one for the real hungry guests. All the staff i encountered where friendly and helpful i would not hesitate to stay here again when in the area. Thanks Eamonn

We came for dinner and it was busy, so 1hour wait for food (30 min wait time stated in the board) but my sons food came out after 30 mins then 2 more plates 20 mins after the first then the other 3 plates 5 mins after them. Both steaks very over cooked and my chicken burger had burn marks on it, also a party was behind us with kids running around playing hide and seek using our table as their hiding spot, so I had to go tell the mother of the children to sort her kids out (not the restaurants issue I know but added to the disappointment) In all very dissatisfied with the outcome of it so I won’t bother going back

We have lunch here as an easy stop off on our way north. The staff are friendly, the food is good and service is quick. The restaurant is clean and there is plenty of space both in the car park and in the restaurant. The only downside for me is that there is no space in the bar that is dog friendly at lunch time, even though the bar occupies a large area. It’s such a shame as otherwise it would be a first class venue.

We had a family lunch to celebrate a birthday. The service was good, all the staff were polite and helpful and attentive without making us feel pressured. The food was really good and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be returning!

My night in this hotel was terrible. As soon as I arrived, bad smells greeted me, causing me to want to vomit. The first bedroom was disturbed by incessant noise from the kitchen, making sleep impossible. We had to change rooms, but the second room was bombarded by loud music. Additionally, the sheets were covered in dust. A deplorable experience to absolutely avoid. However, I must point out that the breakfast was good. You eat really well despite the inconveniences of accommodation.
