The food is second to none hot fresh and plenty of it. Be warned if you want fish and chips I hope your hungry.

Excellent lunch there today even the light bite Yorkshire pudding was more than enough everything was fresh and tasty. Good service friendly staff as usual

Good food and good service fair prices, however, been again today 11/04/24, had to send the braised beef back as it was very tough and inedible.

Would all have been 5 stars except for 2 things! Why no toilet brush available!!?? No non slip matbin shower tray! Tray get slippery and no supporting handles available do guests have used shower head riser rail to hold onto and as a result it comes off wall at bottom of riser!!!

I stayed at the Appleby Inn last night. A clean room with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent as was the reasonably priced evening meal.

Had a lovely family meal for mother's day staff were very helpful and friendly

Needed a hotel near to where I was dropping off and collecting parts and although I usually use the big chain hotels, this was the most convenient to my needs, Early check in no extra cost wifi included (bonus) my room was a ground floor annex with huge wet room, comfortable bed, fridge, tea and coffee, and parking directly outside couldn't ask for more. Food was delicious and my steak cooled exactly how I like it "Blue" its amazing how many restaurants cannot cook a blue steak, Appleby chefs did perfect, Breakfast is included in room rate and excellent choice including a smaller one which was perfect for me, but also offer a larger one for the real hungry guests. All the staff i encountered where friendly and helpful i would not hesitate to stay here again when in the area. Thanks Eamonn

We came for dinner and it was busy, so 1hour wait for food (30 min wait time stated in the board) but my sons food came out after 30 mins then 2 more plates 20 mins after the first then the other 3 plates 5 mins after them. Both steaks very over cooked and my chicken burger had burn marks on it, also a party was behind us with kids running around playing hide and seek using our table as their hiding spot, so I had to go tell the mother of the children to sort her kids out (not the restaurants issue I know but added to the disappointment) In all very dissatisfied with the outcome of it so I won’t bother going back

Lovely staff and great restaurant, rooms are a little dated but generally clean a nice change from the usual chain hotels

Poor service did nt even stay for a drink

We have lunch here as an easy stop off on our way north. The staff are friendly, the food is good and service is quick. The restaurant is clean and there is plenty of space both in the car park and in the restaurant. The only downside for me is that there is no space in the bar that is dog friendly at lunch time, even though the bar occupies a large area. It’s such a shame as otherwise it would be a first class venue.

Thursday afternoon very busy food was excellent will definitely be back

We had a family lunch to celebrate a birthday. The service was good, all the staff were polite and helpful and attentive without making us feel pressured. The food was really good and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be returning!

My night in this hotel was terrible. As soon as I arrived, bad smells greeted me, causing me to want to vomit. The first bedroom was disturbed by incessant noise from the kitchen, making sleep impossible. We had to change rooms, but the second room was bombarded by loud music. Additionally, the sheets were covered in dust. A deplorable experience to absolutely avoid. However, I must point out that the breakfast was good. You eat really well despite the inconveniences of accommodation.

We just keep on going back for food! Love the Seafood sharing platter or the sizzling chicken fajitas, yum!

Can't rate rooms as I didnt stay over however food was okay eventually decent portions and nice menu good prices just steak needed redoing my peas was hard told waiter and response was throw them at people

Ideal stopping off point. Room large & airy with pleasant views. Bed very comfortable & good night's sleep had. Shower awkward to operate. No lift in hotel. Breakfast standard fare although cooked to order. Would stay here again.

Food was very average, young lads thumb in the edge of my mash was not the best,, at least some basic waiting training would help ??... Service was poor by some staff , others were working really hard, if you employ sour faced teenagers that think throwing chairs around , moving tables and banging them together deliberately is good for business you would be wrong Grubby and overall worn looking venue, shame.

My wife & I went for Lunch on Saturday 13th January to celebrate our 49th Wedding Anniversary, without the family, on this occasion.We were booked in for 13-00. We sat at table 27, ordered our meal, then we toasted each other when our drinks arrived, saying to each other "Happy Anniversary". On the table next to us were a young couple and presume their youngish daughter (about 10/12). Our meal arrived, sizzling hot and absolutely wonderful. Halfway through our meal, the Lady at Table 28, apparently went to the Bar, & came back with 2 glasses of Sparkling Wine, put them down on our Table & said "Happy Anniversary". What a trully wonderful thought & gesture. Never seen then before, probably never see them again, but they will never be forgotten. It just goes to prove that there are some really MARVELOUS people about. If you are the Family that reads this, may WE say Thank You, again. What a lovely thing to do.

Good food at fair price,great service,never used rooms as its 2 miles from home but if they follow the general standard they will be very good.

Stopped here for lunch on the way home from Twycross zoo. Our first visit to the Appleby inn, but it won't be the last. Food was fabulous, staff were incredibly lovely and it's excellent value for money. Made to feel very welcome, the atmosphere generally was very pleasant.

We have had our Christmas Dinner here today and it was absolutely beautiful 😍 fresh food, beautifully cooked, full plates!!!! Staff were wonderful, visit and gifts from Santa!! A huge 10 out of 10 from us and our family xxxx thanks guys we are definitely coming back xxxx

Used as a base to visit family. Lovely family room, reasonably priced including breakfast. Had an evening meal with extended family which was excellent and good portion sizes. Would use again

We had our club Xmas lunch here and the staff took really good care of us from the minute we arrived. Prompt service, great food. Highly recommended.

Came for our works christmas meal so quite a large group of 20+ people. The staff were great, very accommodating, great communication beforehand and did their best for us. However the quality of the food was quite poor and the whole ambience just felt very dated and tired. Frozen sprouts that were still hard, processed mash, hard roast potatoes and pigs in blankets that looked barely cooked. (I had seabass which was really nice though). Desserts were disappointing and minced pies were out of a supermarket box. I hadn't been to the Appleby for a number of years, but was once a regular and food used to be amazing. I wont be rushing back.

I stayed here recently while on a corporate induction in Swadlincoat. The rooms were a little old fashioned, but clean and had everything you'd need (kettle, tea, coffee etc, TV, hairdryer, towels, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, and hand/short gel. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The food was fabulous .... So good that when my husband came down to meet me for a few days with our caravan, we ate there every night!

Myself and my wife stayed here overnight whilst travelling for 4 days whilst we had decorator's doing up our house.On arrival we were greeted with smile's from all the staff and proceeded to our room . Before I carry on I would just like to say this establishment is a thriving business which operates throughout the day.Having travelled that morning we were very tired and just needed a nap, however our room was noisy due to the fact we were over the kitchen.I was assured that the noise would stop early evening which it did.we asked to be moved to a quieter room which was no problem and I would like to thank the 2 young ladies who facilitated our move Dannie and Emily. The rooms are basic but very clean and the beds are really comfortable,the food is exceptional especially the breakfast overall a great stay made better by the staff.

Lovely large room for disabled...nice meal in the adjacent pub...and plenty to eat at breakfast will certainly stay again

Must say been coming here for over 20yrs had 3 Turkey dinners today and it was the worst food any of us had such ashame also the so-called manager was very disrespectful in my opinion

My first visit here. Lovely atmosphere, plenty of choices on menu, lovely comfy seating, food excellent. I had lamp cutlets with mashed spuds, peas & carrots, lovely gravy, then warm chocolate brownies with salted caramel sauce and ice cream. Gorgeous. Would definitely come again.

Call and had a meal on way home. Could not fault it, we had a meal from the lunchtime menu and was very impressed. Plenty to eat on plate. The staff where pleasant and efficient and the surroundings and facilities where very good. Will definitely be going back and to top it all off they serve a good glass of beer. We'll done.

Stayed here for 1 night, 1 evening meal and 1 breakfast When it says inn that’s what you need to expect I have to say clean, comfortable and friendly. Spacious room number 26 and that corridor is above the restaurant, every time someone dried their hands in the facilities downstairs you could hear it, but it closes early enough not to be a bother. Food again value for money we had the light bites option which for us was plenty.but looking at the mains plates coming out you won’t starve. Drinks reasonable priced Breakfast included in the room price was a luxury Fresh, hot and made to order. Staff friendly Alternative diary options available on request Plenty of families were here at the time of our visit and the restaurant is popular, so book.

Excellent accommodation at competitive and reasonable prices. On site restaurant and bar so unless you have other commitments you need look no further. Good location for road connections and easy access to Warwickshire and Leicestershire countryside.

We booked a table for an evening meal for a friends birthday. We arrived early & our table wasn't ready so we sat in the bar & were taken to our table within about 10 minutes. We ordered our own drinks at the bar but a waitress took our food orders. The food arrived quickly & was well presented & very tasty. For starters my wife & I had the seafood sharing platter which was absolutely delicious & what great value for money. For mains we had jerk sea bass & sea bass off the specials menu. Again both meals were excellent, staff & service all on point. It had been a few years since we had been down in this area, but have eaten there on numerous occasions & to be honest it is still a great place to eat, & would highly recommend it. A massive car park, the toilets were all clean & a nice ambience in the restaurant itself.

This place has gone down hill ...Nice food Service very poor... we waited a while to be asked for drinks then asked for food choice straight with drinks, Finished food asked could they could clear the table to only clear half... we waited thinking they would come back to finish clearing and ask for deserts menu no we waited even longer then someone came along asking did we want desert menus by this time was like no just the bill .. was brought the bill by a rather rude lady .. doubt I'll be back haven't got the time we was there 2 hours and had 1 drink and 1 meal no starter obviously no dessert.

I’ve been visiting for over 15 years for a good fillet steak which has always been great. Today I ordered a fillet Steak it came out like a lump of charcoal so I sent it back, I did not want to reorder another meal (put off also my wife was already eating her meal so didn’t want to wait) the manageress did say it was moist in the middle !?!? 🤣🤣 (so maybe I should have just eaten the bit in the middle) 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Been here a couple of times now for food, never disappointed. Staff are friendly and the food is always good. Fair priced, and the portions are big.

I have stayed here many times over the years. The price is right, the food is very good and the rooms are well kept and clean. This is not a hotel for a long stay, but for a few days is perfect.

The Appleby did not fail to deliver. The hotel room was spacious, clean and bathroom with a lovely shower. Staff were all friendly and helpful. We had an evening meal which was superb but you do need to book as it gets busy. Breakfast was fantastic, nice cold selection and then a choice of hot food all included in your room price. Can't wait to go again !!

We've been to the restaurant here a few times. They have a very good menu, even for vegetarians and vegans, the food is nicely made, the portion sizes are large, and the prices are good.

We met friends there for a late lunch. We were found a table very quickly even though it was very busy and our drinks were delivered quickly. It was a good menu although a few more veggie dishes would be welcome. Our meals were brought very quickly and were delicious ( the spinach and ricotta canelloni was superb!). There was a good choice of puddings and again they were delivered quickly and were very nice, only 1 liitle slip-( custard was a bit lumpy). We all really enjoyed our meals and the service was very good and a lovely setting. Definitely recommend!

I meet my friend evey few weeks. The Appleby is half way for both of us (Hinckley & Swadlincote).. we have always has super meal. Fresh, made to order and delicious

Traditional comfortable hotel. Room was spacious and clean. Restaurant very good. Good cooked breakfast but as made to order can apparently take up to 30 mins to arrive, not great if you have a schedule.

Food is always excellent as is the service. Cannot fault The Appleby Inn. Best pub/restaurant in the area.

Fantastic visit, we stayed during extremely hot weather and nothing was too much for the staff. We ate at the hotel for Dinner and breakfast and really can't say a bad word about any of the experience.

I cannot recommend this hotel and its staff highly enough. From the time of booking and throughout our stay the staff were marvellous. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they were especially kind and supportive to my two Autistic children. The rooms were clean, roomy and nicely decorated. The bathrooms were clean, fresh and really nicely decorated with plenty of towels. The breakfast and restaurant staff were really helpful, even rearranging tables so my extended family could sit closer to us for an evening meal. I was touched by that gesture as I knew they were busy and was just grateful they could fit them in for a meal. The food was excellent and my children, who are really fussy, loved the food and the hotel. It's not easy travelling with kids let alone those with special needs, but the staff made our stay enjoyable, so much my kids didn't want to go home. When I visit my family in this are again, this is going to be my go too place.

The room was clean, beds are comfortable. Must admit the size of the place is bigger than I expected, so we found quiet a walk from car to reception then up to the room. That been said it wouldn’t put me off staying there again. In the morning breakfast was served to you at table, the service was good and the food was ok “I like my grilled tomatos grilled a bit more to be fair” and my poached egg was more of a hard boiled egg.. that been said I didn’t mention or complain about it but I’m sure if I had they would’ve supplied me another. All in all good b&b hotel I give it 8/10

We met friends for a drink hear whilst on holiday. Unfortunately they don’t accept dogs and no alternative was offered to . Ok if you don’t want dogs near you. A shame the hotel lost out on my business.

We stayed for 1 night as a family of 4 in a family room facing the main road. While the room was fine, I’d not book to stay again. None of us slept very well. There was no air con or fan and the road noise was too loud to sleep with the windows open. The bathroom hadn’t been checked over fully as there was a plastic cup on the floor next to the sink and you could see hairs and fluff/dust around the edge of the bathroom floor. The shower wasn’t very powerful but fine for the 1 night we stayed. The floors were a bit freaky and you could hear other guests coming through the door/corridor as they were coming and going up and down the stairs. Breakfast was again, fine. You can choose from a cooked breakfast or eggs/beans on toast type breakfast off the menu. Cereals and fruit and yogurts were help yourself. Juices and hot drinks available as well. Was cheap enough so I suppose you get what you pay for.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting for Conkers and Thomas Land at Drayton Manor with our 3 year old son. We had a family room which was perfect. Clean and comfy. The location was perfect for where we need to be and the food was incredible. Breakfast was just what we needed and the pub food was fantastic. The staff were also very accommodating and friendly. Overall, the perfect mini break for us. We shall definitely be returning.

Lovely hotel with a bar and restaurant. Excellent value for money, extensive menu, and not far from the M42.

Stayed for a night after visiting Twycross zoo. Great value, £110 for a family of 4 with breakfast.

Our football team were booked into this hotel as a base and I cannot command the staff highly enough. The rooms were cleaned and well furnished. On one side of the hotel the rooms are extremely hot with no AC (which is the reason why this is four stars only). Generally, bedsheets aren't changed daily but the housekeeping ladies again made sure we had fresh sheets when requested and even found us some fans to use. All with a smile which makes all the difference. Breakfast is varied (continental and cooked) and the restaurant staff provided us with sandwich bags when we had to leave early in the morning thus missing breakfast, which was so kind. The evening restaurant staff were outstanding and very attentive. Have to say that Dani was a star who went above and beyond in making us all feel welcome and comfortable. Appleby Inn, please recognise AND REWARD your high performers. Even the groundsman mowing the lawn gave me a smile and a wave. If you are thinking of staying here, I would say so because the staff are gold. I hope this review is read by management who act upon this.

Had a funeral and had a family dinner for it some hours after, the staff were very kind and very helpful in aiding me to pick out drinks and helping me find our booked table for 10, fantastic work and I enjoyed the compliments I got on my tattoos from some staff members too!

Took a gamble on this new venue for me when I met a friend half way between our work places. I must say rhe staff were 👏, really aren't I've and polite. There was so many staff to ask and there was no ' I'll have to get your waitress' everyone was eager to help. Burgers, love a good burger and thes came with some beefy chips. Amazing. Arranged another meet up there again with my friend . Very good value for money

Really good food but the restaurant is clearly hiring anybody, most of the staff are young and just do not care, they talk amongst themselves and don’t pay attention let alone ask if there’s anything you need. The food is excellent however the chips need some work and whilst the pub is “cosy” it needs a spruce up.

We had a table of 12. Food was fantastic. All came out at same time. All hot. Service was brilliant. Well worth it. Would definitely come again and recommend

Came for a meal here at lunchtime. It was obviously a popular place with lots of guests and the carpark was pretty full. We ordered burgers and they were very nice. The staff were friendly and so so so helpful with my allergy! A great visit.

Food was tasty, piping hot , plenty of food for the price. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating, ( we booked for 12 but 13 turned up, and they managed to seat the extra guest.). Personally I found the pub layout a little odd, it felt like we were seated in a corridor, but that aside, the staff were pleasant, the atmosphere was great and we enjoyed our evening. Very good .

Visited today for dinner. Had the Chicken Sizzler and Wraps. Meal was ok only as the chicken and peppers were over powering with an arromatic seasoning. If not for this, it would of been bery enjoyable. Staff were helpfull and Polite. Would visit again as the food was good quality and good size portions.

The rooms are a little bit dated now but comfortable and clean. The food is outstanding with generous helpings and good value for money.
