my second time since discovering this spot of pinoy in the midst of heaving Oxford Circ. the first time was 5* however this time was mediocre due to the waiting time to get my food (more than half an hour until I nudged) and it was only chicken inasal & a cuppa chicken scratchings!!! rice ended up soggy as well. shame-o😕

Very disappointing and clearly a different experience from many others. Luke warm, bland pork belly with a few pieces of tasteless cracking placed on top. Plain rice and some vinegar salad. £14!?!? I will say the tiny pot of sauce was good, shame it was only enough for a spec per bite.

Chicken Inasal was very good. Very close to the versions you get in the Philippines. The carrot achara is very nice. Wanted to try the Lechon (pork belly) but unfortunately, it wasn’t in stock. :(

Had this yesterday at the Market Stalls in Oxford Street. Really delicious food - fresh, tasty chargrilled goodness. I went for the Insal Chicken and a side of the prawns. The service took a little while however was worth the wait. My friends had food envy! You guys are closed by the time I walked past and was leaving - thank you for great meal! 🙏🏾

Nasty food! Don’t know where these two boys learned how to cook. I ordered pancit. Too salty. No veggies in the pancit. The color of your noodles are way too dark. Maybe too Much soy sauce. I am from California so if you’re looking for filipino dishes, don’t come here. Go somewhere else. Bad service!

Had to walk for almost a mile to get here. Just was craving for filipino food. Ambiance of the place was really good. A good amount of well placed seats, though during lunch time, got busy really quick. Ordered pork barbecue, was good enough yet not authentic filipino, lacked the usual punch that we were expecting. Crispy pork belly, good flavor where you can taste the lemon grass, skin was crunchy. On both dish, the atchara or pickle was good enough yet lacked the usual papaya which was understandable. Portions were really good. Lastly ordered for the pares which I was craving for and that was the biggest let down, lacked the usualy flavor that comes with the dish, it was just like a beef dish and soup. That was the biggest disappontment.. prices were okay considering it being in London.. the place was really nice to eat in.

I ate a "Lechon" (Traditional Philippines oast pork belly) at their place, but I wasn't impressed at all. The meat was ordinary, without any particular flavor, as were the rice and the salad. In addition, there were also some pieces of deep fried pork skin, so hard that it looked like wood. On other evenings I ate much better, at other stands.

We ordered lechon, pork skewers and garlic prawns. First, the lechon was not up to par because it wasn’t seasoned like a lechon should be. As you can see in the picture, it looks pale and we only got two pieces of crispy skin. Also, the achara that came with it tasted like it was made a long time ago, and the garlic rice wasnt the legit Filipino garlic rice. Second, the garlic prawns were bitter AF and weren’t fresh. In addition, we didn’t get to order at 11:30AM which was the advertised opening time and was asked to come back after 20minutes. On the good side, the pork skewers were on point and the dining place was clean. In general, I didn’t get my money’s worth. 💸💸💸

Was very disappointed . Ordered chicken inasal and it was raw. I returned the chicken to the guy working at the counter for it to be properly cooked, was given back to me not even 2 minutes and they just put on some chicken oil to cover the blood on the chicken! My stomach turned when I saw the blood again! I didn’t even bother to complain the 2nd time, just ate the rice and left! Very bad service!

We came here as we were craving for some Filipino food. Food generally was decent. We ordered roast pork belly lechon, pares, bbq pork skewers, and vegetable spring rolls. We loved the vege spring rolls with the dip and pork bbq skewers! They were really yummy. The pork belly with the achara was also ok. The only thing I did not like was the pares as it was lacking the distinct pares flavour and spices that I remember from the Retiro Pares in the Philippines. It would be great to have it with soup so you can feel like you are eating the real pares combo. The serving was also decent. The prices of some of the mains were on the pricey side. The service was great though. The ambience of the food market was ok but it can get pretty busy and it’s a bit dark.

Wanted proper filipino food but was disappointed. Very few selections and the one I wanted isn't available. We instead ordered: pork bbq and pork lechon. The bbq was OK.. Both meal was chewy and the lechon skin is very tough! It was a shame.. Expensive and emotionless service. Edit: been to another filipino in Earl's court. On another level compare to this one!

Disappointing. Got excited at first because finally a Filipino restaurant in London but don’t set your expectations too high. We ordered the Pork/Lechon meal, Adobo and Chicken Inasal. The serving is very small for the price. The side atchara tasted awful, we did not touch it. The Pork was tasteless. The chicken did not taste like inasal at all. It barely had any meat too. Service was slow. Personally would not go back but to anyone curious to check it out, please don’t think this is how Filipino bbq taste like.

Lechon, oh my the lechon. The earth shatteringly crispy crackling skin on top of the juiciest pork belly meat dipped in the tangy sweet Mang Tomas sauce @apoy_london was heavenly. Chef Budgie spoiled our group with a terrific spread of Filipino street food classics. Among our favorites were the lechon, the beef pares, coconut kale and chicken inasal. Each dish was paired with a sauce to complement, with a variety of Filipino condiments on display. The sinimak, a spicy coconut vinegar, cut through the fattiness of the pork. The light and tangy toyomansi, a combo of soy sauce and calamansi juice, a Filipino citrus variety, completed the grilled bbq pork skewers. Thank you Budgie and the Apoy team for delivering a truly banging Filipino feast. You all reminded us what hospitality is all about: food served in abundance, big flavours and even bigger plates, and of course a whole lotta love.

Lechon - nice but I’ve had better in the Philippines Chicken skins - needs more salt to be a perfect beer snack Prawns - slightly overcooked but good bbq flavour. More garlic required Kale - tasty and a good side dish. I’m told the original with taro is much better

While Apoy shows promise, the value, portions and authenticity in some dishes need some reevaluation. The adobong manok lacked the homemade taste associated with authentic adobo. The lumpia offered a more traditional taste. For the price and amount served, it is expensive.

The food was Fire! Excellent selection of foods, they know the filipino taste well considering it’s on the other side of the world. We ordered the roast pork belly (lechon), 1/4 mang inasal and chicken popcorn. All were 10/10 dishes, I was a bit sad due to the chicken skin being out of stock when I was craving it so much. Definitely a place I would return to often and to all Pinoy’s who are showing their family around. If they’re anything like mine where they want the value for money and the taste with it. Definitely this is the place to eat at.

DEFINITELY COMING BACK All the spots were hit after going here, service was excellent with them clarifying which ones on the menu were still available. Ordered the pork belly lechon, which had the perfect crispy skin with the succulent meat of which you can clearly taste the stuffing used. Also couldn't decide and ordered another main which was the chicken mang inasal, perfectly grilled with the perfect vinegar dip pairing. The bar has been raised for Filipino food in the UK. Definitely going to come back to try the BBQ skewers and chicken skin which were sold out.

I’m not sure how to review this place: the chicken adobo is delicious but the portion is ludicrously small. The pork lechon was alright but again a bit stingy, especially on the sauce (which didn’t have much flavour). The calamansi lemonade was great but again very small. The prices are good for London but I didn’t appreciate this being compensated for by the portion sizes.

Awesome Filipino spot in the Market Hall. Eating at Apoy feels like eating on the streets of Manila. Smoky BBQ flavors even in veggie dishes, relatively authentic flavors, loved the Spring Rolls. Love the food, decent potion especially if you’re going to have a few drinks after. The guys working there were really attentive and friendly. Keeps true to the traditional Filipino flavours. I really find it unsettling when there’s a certain taste you’re looking for but someone decided to “bougie” it up and completely mess when a classic. Thanks for keeping it original (‘how Lola used to make it!’) Highly recommended. A+

As a Filipino abroad you get excited when you stumble upon a Filipino restaurant serving up the dishes you crave for but no one serves it. We saw Apoy in the Market Halls and got thrilled because it serves Pinoy BBQ. Pinoy BBQ is so hard to do in London because the weather isnt always great and to see a resto serving it up is is such a joy to see so it hyped our appetites. My wife had the Inasal and I had the Claypot Beef (which they market as pares) and some chicken skin as sides. The Inasal was at best mediocre, all char, no flavour. Its missing the bbq punch that hits you when you have it back home. The pares was even more of a letdown. The beef while soft is missing the essence of what a Pares should be. The flavours we so mild to the point that I felt absent. Hard to mess up chicken skin, and that they got right. I understand that being abroad, the taste will always cater to the wider audience. But I wish some Pinoy restos will just be unapologetically Filipino and serve up the taste we all love and miss as expats. We might not come back but we wish this resto all the best in its endeavors.

A rip-off. I had the Adobo. What I got for £10, was 4 small cubes of chicken with soy sauce, in a tiny dish that would usually hold a starter. Accompanying it, was a small scoop of rice, on a large green leaf for decoration. I finished it in a few minutes, and was so hungry that I had to go across the road to McDonald's for 2 chicken Mayo burgers. It tasted fine, no problem with that at all, but the portion of chicken was unacceptable. I understand the desire to make as much profit as possible to pay central London rental charges, but an undisguised rip-off, will get the business closed down in the long run.

I have to be completely honest. I haven’t had GREAT experiences eating Filipino food in London. For some reason, every spot I’ve tried (which are not many), either the food was too salty or too dry. So I came here with some hesitation… but I’m happy to report—I LOVE THIS PLACE. The roast pork belly lechon is what you gotta get here, man. It’s just the perfect balance of textures, flavors, and portion. It's porky, crispy, fatty, and herbaceous all at the same time. That's the dish I will definitely be coming back for.

Few weeks ago we purposely went to markethall just to try Apoy. My order was the Pork Skewer and it was really nice. My friend got the chicken one but the chicken were dry to be honest. We also had the chicken skin which was so tasty but we didnt like the sauce. You don't actually need one because its so tasty but a Sukang Pinakurat is best to pair it with. Im giving the service as 3 because the staff wasnt very friendly/accomodating. Also not giving the pork skewer as 5 even tho it was very tasty for the reason that the Suka or Vinegar that came with it was too small. I went to ask for extra Suka and to my suprise they charge £1 for a very tiny container (like 5ml) lol. You could have bought in asian store that kind of Sukang Pinakurat in 500ml for just £2 or 3. I just feel its worth commending this because I lost my appetite while eating the yummy Pork skewers. 😂🤭

I had an Anton Ego moment. Many might not recognise the name – he’s the critic in Ratatouille. If you’ve seen the film, you know exactly who he is. I’m not a pompous, renown critic. But the food at Apoy was enough to remind me of my Christmases in the Philippines as a child. My cousin grilling pork, the rice literally sourced from the fields near Calumpit in Bulacan. Here the rice was just as sticky and fragrant (I had mine without garlic) and the pork was both delicious and perhaps chewy… but that’s exactly as it should’ve been. So many great, authentic flavours. A taste of my once seasonal home. It may only be November, but sending me to the Phils for just a moment of nostalgia means I’ll be back with others for a taste of my childhood. Maybe bring my mum for Christmas dinner... Stop by and say hi to Budgie, you wont be disappointed.

Very tasty food. Had both the pork and the chicken and loved both. I know this is a new business and my main constructive feedback would be to increase the number of skewers in the set. 3 skewers is a little bit on the low end for a meal (an there is also too much rice for 3 skewers). 4 would be ideal for a meal and would also better match the rice portion.

To begin with , to find this place was a little tricky. And it’s located inside of a upstairs food court. I ordered the Inasal chicken sets, which comes with three skewers of chicken, some rice and a small salad. I also ordered a calamasi drink . For the price I would say, you do you pay what you get for, so it was good but yet I would recommend for them to add at least one or two more skewers of chicken or lower the price. Seasoning was good on the chicken and the rice was not to dry. 3.5 pounds for a drink was also was a little overpriced. Overall , I will say this was good food, not great for the price. I would also recommend for them to change the bottom paper below the food, something more durable. I caught myself almost eating the paper below because of it being saturated by the juices of the chicken and the sauce, and the paper was coming off. More parchment like paper.

I had really high hopes for this place. Given the limited items on the menu, I expected them all to be good. In general, the pork and shrimp skewers lacked flavour. I felt that the chef was too cautious in sharing the true taste of Filipino BBQ and diluted the taste too much in attempt to cater to western palates!
