Aplus Oriental Restaurant in Manchester

I have been visiting Manchester China Town for many year maybe about 40 and I have seen many changes, I thought the food had got very poor in this area but we stumbled across this place and gave it a try for dim sum. I have to say its the first restaurant including ones that I regularly frequently that they treat Chinesse and foreigners that same, like fresh water for tea, a very small thing but if you eat dim sum and know the etiquette you appreciate. Also one if the waiters noticed one of our dishes was missing a dipping sauce and immediately was on the intercom and it arrived. Food was very good the taste has to be some of the best I gave eaten for a longtime (I did live in Hong Kong) and portion size was huge if fact we had to take 2 dishes home with us. Deffo worth a visit

Everything is good, they work till very late what is very comfortable to eat at night Just one think, don’t drop ice in coke, quality of ice is very low, I can fill taste and it’s not good

First time in since new ownership. I actually worked here 20yrs a go when it first opened as a restaurant!!! Food is very good, had traditional dim sum lunch with a few roast meat selections which were excellent. Service was good and waiters were attentive. Clean and hygienic. One of the best in China town I must say. Bill came to £200 for 8 of us adults and there was plenty of food on the table. Will definitely visit again.

An amazing find, can’t recommend enough. The Char Siu Pork with Crispy Fried Noodles and the Garlic Pea Shoots are amazing! The manager was so friendly and attentive and recommended dishes to our preferences. Would 100% come again!

This restaurant seems to change style and ownership regularly, but it’s normally a great place to eat. As “Aplus”, it’s styled like a more upmarket Chinese restaurant, with the decor improved from previous iterations of the place. The food is decent, always has been here. Lots of choice, service is fast, staff are pleasant and attentive and the food is good. Last visit on 19/04/25, we had three meat rice, salt and pepper squid and some dim sum - beef balls and char siu buns. That with 2x green tea and 2x soft drinks cost £55 including the service charge. Food was good and no issues afterwards.

Very good and the service was good we got free udon noodles on the house and the meat quality was excellent I recommend this restaurant if you are missing home or just need a meal they have everything from hotpot to whole chickens and it’s very good

When I returned to Manchester City, I made an appointment with my friends to have dinner at our old place. I absolutely love the new decoration style. Every time you eat Cantonese food, you must order barbecued pork and stir-fried beef river. The portion is large and delicious. I can show off the entire kuku.

Another fun touch was the ordering robots, adding a modern twist to the meal. I definitely plan to bring more friends here to share this delightful experience. I went to eat at the old place again. Their Cantonese food is really good. I like to eat barbecued pork, roast duck and chicken. They recently renovated the whole place and the waiters are also very enthusiastic and attentive.

Really enjoyed this place, the food tasted super authentic and not greasy at all. The beef chow fun had great wok hei, the chicken feet and tripe were full of flavor, and I loved the roast meat platter, especially the crispy pork. Tried Chaozhou-style white dumplings for the first time too, they were soft and chewy with a nice texture. The beef brisket pot was super comforting, and I ended the meal with a light and refreshing mango pomelo sago. Friendly service, relaxed vibe — I’d definitely come back again.🥰

Poor overpriced food. Waited ages to get food and waited ages to get the bill then even longer to get the card machine to pay the bill. Avoid this restaurant like the plague.

This Cantonese restaurant in Chinatown is seriously amazing, totally my kind of flavors! I haven’t had some of these dishes in half a year, and to find something this authentic here was such a surprise! Here’s what we ordered — every single dish was a hit: 1️⃣ Three BBQ Meat Platter Char siu, roast duck, and crispy pork — all in one plate! Everything was super flavorful, especially the char siu — sweet but not greasy, and the portion was huge. Pure satisfaction! 2️⃣ Sizzling Claypot Chicken This was such a pleasant surprise! It was my friends’ first time trying it and they instantly fell in love — they even said they want to learn how to make it themselves haha. As a true Cantonese girl, I highly recommend this one. So fragrant and tasty! 3️⃣ Stir-Fried Beef Ho Fun Hands down the best stir-fried beef noodles I’ve had in Manchester so far. Perfectly stir-fried, tender and generous chunks of beef, and just the right amount of seasoning — not too oily either. 4️⃣ Har Gow (Shrimp Dumplings) It’s been way too long since I had decent shrimp dumplings — I miss Cantonese dim sum so much. These had huge, juicy shrimp inside and that classic flavor — one bite took me right back to a dim sum restaurant in Guangdong. Highly recommend!

We had a banquet for 2. We had menu B. There wasn't a lot of food for the money. The duck and pancakes was tiny! It was £111 and I don't feel like it was value for money . I didn't like the staff wire blue rubber gloves during service, kind of put me off my food.

It feels like a dish that everyone from children to the elderly will like very much! 🦪Pork Belly Oyster Pot I have tried the fried oysters in the old place before and I can't forget it. This time I tried the pork belly oyster pot, which is a different experience. The fat of the pork belly is matched with the fresh and fragrant oysters, and the combination of spinach makes the taste more layered. 🍜Dry Fried Beef River The beef is super large, the river noodles are fried translucently, and there is a sauce flavor, and there is a wok flavor! 🥩Three-in-one roast meat includes barbecued pork, roasted pork and roasted duck. I have a chore disorder and want to eat everything. Every time I come here, I always order the combination plate. The meat is very good. I can eat half a plate by myself. In addition to the super good dishes, the old place also has a variety of morning tea snacks, and a ktv, which is open until the early morning, suitable for night owls to go for food!

I've always been eating Lebanese food, and tonight I ordered the "Teochew style oyster cake" for the first time. There was no fish sauce, no potato starch, and the eggs were old-fashioned, neither tasty nor crispy. I want to order this! How ridiculous! It’s £18.8 to eat an oyster omelette, but it’s so delicious! The staff's service is good and there is no problem, but if you don't know the taste, it won't be easy to sell!

Three Fresh Japanese Tofu 16.8 It's a big portion with broccoli, squid and shrimp in it. The tofu is very soft and tender, salty and chewy. Five-star praise! ! Overall, it is light and very suitable for cleansing the intestines after being greasy. Three-cup chicken pot 14.8 After the outer skin is fried in a hot pan, the burnt aroma is very strong and the pan is full of steam🔥 Overall a bit salty Honey BBQ Pork 14.9 The portion is generous, comes with dipping sauce, and has just the right amount of sweetness. The only drawback is that I personally feel it's a bit too dry. Like chewing Harbin sausage It would be nice if it could be moisturized a little more Next time you can try the Sanshao mix

Went on a Saturday and was an awful experience. The restaurant was super packed so we got seated upstairs. The staff didn’t seem to care about us at all, took forever to take our orders(15 mins), and we waited for 20 mins for the first dish to come. They even forgot to bring our second dish until we had finished our first, 20 minutes later! When the waitress realized their poor treatment of us, and that the food was left downstairs, they offered to get warm rice for us which was like rubbing salt in the wound. We said we wouldnt pay for the second dish that didn’t come. Thankfully the waitress and cashier allowed us but we heard the manager wanting to shoo us away so they can get a new table of customers. Very poor customer service and will not go back again, there are many better Chinese restaurants in Manchester.

The exterior and competitive menu prices attracted us in to this restaurant, and we were not disappointed. We were greeted by a friendly man and taken to a table. Me and my wife ordered what we each wanted and then shared the food between us. I have to say, it was some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. Luckily our food choices complimented each other very nicely. We ordered 2 mains and 2 sides and the portions where big enough for us to have 2 full plates each. It was so enjoyable that neither of us left a thing. The atmosphere was nice and cosy and the decor was very nice too. We would definitely recommend and come back ourselves if we are ever in the area for a pre concert meal.

Best Chinese food I’ve had in a long time.

An incredible link in Chinatown Manchester. We took the business menu with chicken soup, sweet and sour chicken (with a flavor ❤️) and ginger chicken and fresh onion. The products are fresh and very well cooked and the service is friendly. Very clean restaurant, which is not the case with some surrounding windows. Well done we will come back

Went for lunch after being seated waited 25 minutes and i had to get up to be served, we have not dined here before and nothing was explained to us constantly had to get up and ask staff the dim sum was nice and we seen the ducks in the window and thought we would also try this when ours came it looked like he had been in the oven all morning we got very little meat from it as the rest was too far gone would of complained to staff but couldn't find one in the end they did eventually speak to us so they could give us the bill i would give this one a miss and try one of the other places close by

The taste of Shang Hai noodles is not the real traditional one

We waited a very long time for our food, other customers served before us that came after we arrived. No real service, swapped out drinks without asking as the one we ordered wasn’t available. The food was awful, cold, no flavour- with exception of the char Sui pork but it was literally just a big plate of meat. Terrible waste of money.

From my personal experience, this is a spectacular eating establishment. Me and my family had sat and ordered here, and were greeted with excellent lightning speed service. The atmosphere was great, and the food was some of the best Chinese meals l've had in a long time! Highly recommend, 5 Stars 👌

Unfortunately, whilst we had high hopes based on the reviews, our actual experience was very poor. The food was OK - decent enough taste for a few of the dishes, although without amazing us. One or two the dim sum were very good - we can recommend the Beef Chun Fun, for example. Service was very poor: left ages to wait before ordering, bringing us dirty plates, only listening to part of a request and either forgetting the other part so that we had to ask again, or getting it wrong, bringing one person's starter about 15 mins before the others, etc. When we arrived around 14:00 on a Sunday it was very busy. However, by the time we left the restaurant was half empty. Some customers who arrived and sat after us left and paid before we received our main course. The prices are quite high for the quality and we were not asked for feedback on the meal at any point. (Neither whilst at the table nor when paying.) When I asked for the bill, I was handed the card machine without so much as a smile. I was not even shown the bill until after I'd paid, when I could see that a service charge had been added without asking. By this point, I was too tired from the experience to bother complaining and just wanted to leave. Perhaps this was a one-off bad day, although we certainly won't be back there in a hurry to find out.

Had the best hot and sour soup and oyster dish ever. All of our food was excellent. Friendly, welcoming, professional, efficient, speedy service. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. .after soup and dim sum we were so full ,got our main to takeaway . So happy that we chose this place.paid less than £30 per head , soup each, dim sum sharing platter , main meal and fried rice to share, complimentary prawn crackers , large wine , j20, so for evening, city centre, I think value for money . Visited the restaurant on Monday 3rd February, at approx 5pm. The restaurant was very quiet, when we arrived, and there were only 2 of us. We each ordered a starter, which were both delicious, but not served at the same time. Our main courses took a really long time, to be served, one of which was only luke warm. While we were waiting, many other people arrived, and were all served before us. Some of them had actually finished their meal, and left !! The food was really tasty, but the whole experience was very disappointing ! Would not go again ! Th

Very clean with superb quality food

Food is always fresh and well presented. Staff are very welcoming and understanding. Just be wary that it is very very busy and they are open from lunch to late night so you do have enough time to plan and choose a time that suits you. The service is one of the best as they have countless staff always ready to sort out any issues instantly, you will not be waiting long for staff to come to your needs like other places I have been to.

Our second visit while we are in the city from London. Hands down, the book is the best Dim Sum and Roast Meats. Our benchmarking is Hong Kong

Excellent experience for those who went for lunch at 3pm. The best part is that many of the customers were Asian, which shows the quality of the Cantonese food at this restaurant. The boneless lacquered duck was divine. The gyozas were very tasty and well steamed. Even the chicken and corn soup was a good experience. This is a place to recommend.

Very stressed staff even though it wasn’t really busy, above-average prices, I wouldn’t visit again. The food is delivered to the table by a robot, and overall it all feels very trashy

Had a lovely meal here - food was fresh, tasty, piping hot, and lots of veggie options. Also very good value compared to other nearby restaurants. Staff were really pleasant and friendly, the atmosphere was nice, and the robot cat waiter was a sight to behold! Will definitely come here again when next in Manchester.

Food is great and the selection is fantastic. Most of the staff are approachable . There is a couple that can be a little hard to approach. My friends love the fact that there are large tables that can get us all around.

Their mapo tofu and fried rice is really plain. The dim sum is okay but we waited more than half an hour at the table… Bad experience overall wouldn’t recommend

Went with my family last night on recommendation of others. We had Set menu B for 4 persons. The quantity of food is good but we all found the food rather bland despite having 4 different main courses, it pretty much all tasted the same. The server cheekily rolled up the bill trying to obscure the already added 10% service charge and the card machine was open at the screen to add a further tip ranging from 10% upwards, this would have added a further £21 on top of the £20 already added. This is a very underhand tactic designed at double dipping on the tips. Be aware if visiting this place. We won’t be back as I am sure there are venues offering better tasting food.

Fab-u-lous! The best Chinese food I’ve eaten for many years. Great crispy seaweed for starters, sublime duck pancakes and then a cascade of prawn, calamari, stir fried vegetables and steamed rice. Wonderful service from energetic waiters and nothing was too much trouble! Worth the detour and Beats China town in London!

Delicious roasted meat, especially roasted duck. It is not salty and has duck flavor. The meat is tender and not greasy. The egg tart is delicious and the skin is crispy enough. It would be better if the egg could be cooked more. The shrimp dumplings and siu mai are on point, there’s not too much fatty pork, and the skin is smoky and tough. The rice with chicken feet and pork ribs is less and the rice is dry. On the contrary, Yangzhou fried rice is relatively wet. In short d, the wild food is neither heavy-flavored nor too salty. The portion size is a bit small for normal. It’s delicious. I’ll order a half portion of roast duck next time.

Another standout is their “Ants Climbing a Tree” (stir-fried vermicelli with minced meat), which is surprisingly authentic and full of flavor—a rare find in many restaurants. The service at Aplus is also worth mentioning. The staff are polite, attentive, and create a welcoming dining experience that makes you feel taken care of. Overall, this restaurant offers a great combination of delicious food, authentic Cantonese flavors, and good service. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy quality Chinese cuisine

Would not recommend. Har gau had no flavor whatsoever and Xiao long bao had split open when they arrived at the table so all of the soup inside had leaked out... Really disappointing as had heard good things about this place.

We were kept waiting for an unacceptable 40 minutes, and our mains arrived before we had even received our soup, which we had to ask for multiple times. The food quality was disappointing; the stir-fried noodles were excessively gloopy, and the duck I ordered was greasy, served with low-grade rice. To top it off, we were incorrectly charged for our drinks. This £50 experience felt like a complete waste. I urge you to enhance your service and uphold the quality and pride of Asian cuisine. Overall, it was extremely disappointing.

The food was excellent. They do a 2 course menu for lunch for £13.98 The hot and sour soup was the best I’ve had for a long time. I also had beef in Cantonese sauce with fried rice, generous portions. Service was prompt. The waitress made a few errors but sorted it very quickly, think she was training. It was very busy at 1:40pm on a Monday. The place was clean and tidy, plates and table cleared quickly. I used to eat regularly in China town many years ago and the food here was really good so wasn’t disappointed. Looked popular would definitely go there again. Sorry no photos I get involved in eating and conversation and forget to take them 🤣

Not too many options for dim sum but still quite adequate. Good space between table to table and clean. Staffs are super polite and thoughtful, my plate was changed and I did not even ask for it. So far the best experience that I have had at Chinatown here. I will come back to try non-dim sum dishes.
