The food is incredible from here, great spot to have a date!

Got charged a service charge but the waiter was unable to do the bill for a table of 6. Really bad service. I would never come again it ruined our night. And the service charge was a joke considering he couldn’t add up a bill.

Wow wow wow What an amazing meal. We were walking along, looked at the menu. The manager talked to us. Very engaging. No pressure. We went back and had a very lovely meal. He even wrote down our daughters meal and made a specific note on it. The birthday robot was a nice touch.

Came here at night and the restaurant was full, which is always a good sign! The atmosphere was lively, and the food was absolutely amazing. Everything was freshly made, flavourful, and perfectly cooked. Definitely a great place for authentic Chinese food. Will visit again!

Awful service. Half of the food didn’t arrive but our table was charged for more than double what we ordered. The food is served raw and the server said it’s still edible when we sent it back. Please avoid for safety reasons. No drinks service and there was a forty minute wait for starters. When we spoke to the management to complain they said no one would believe us about how awful it was and that they will be fine. Our order was wrong and staff said it doesn’t matter we will still eat it and charged us. Avoid!!

Came here late on a Friday night. This is a no frills restaurant that’s somewhat scruffy, brightly lit but served five excellent dishes. The food was flavourful, well presented and a good portion size. The service was very friendly and made some great recommendations. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant for a no fuss simple supper. Enjoy.

The best Dim Sum I've ever had! The flavors are authentic, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The variety of options is amazing, and everything was cooked to perfection. Definitely my new go-to spot for Dim Sum!

Came in with my daughter Place was very busy which is always a good sign and smelt amazing, daughter and I are both vegetarian but they has plenty to choose from and it was all delicious and became the highlight of our trip into Manchester we will definitely be coming again

The dim sum was incredible! Fresh, flavourful, and a huge variety. The food arrived quickly and efficiently, thanks to the robot cat delivery! Amazing service and even better food!

4.0⭐. We are international travelers. Our British friends took us here for lunch, located in Chinatown, almost in the center of Manchester. We ordered siomai, shrimp sausage, and roast duck. I have to say that the shrimp sausage tastes great, with shrimps wrapped in soft dough and some juice. The siomai is pretty good, and the roast duck needs to be eaten with rice so it won't be too salty, so it goes very well with rice. Note that the portions here are relatively large. You can order two portions of rice for three people, and you can also drink a pot of tea. The interior decoration is nice, and the atmosphere feels more like a Hong Kong-style restaurant. There are many Chinese people, and even the menu has a traditional Chinese version. In terms of service, I think the waiters seem to be a little more impatient and move at a fast pace. There is a fatal flaw. We originally wanted to order barbecued pork puff pastry, but the waiter later confirmed that it was no longer available and asked us to order something else. However, the bill did not cross it out, so when we returned to the hotel, we found that we had overpaid for this dish. Money for the food you didn’t eat. We won't do a calculation, but we will check in the future at checkout that the bill is correct. 20240802

The service and food were phenomenal. The waitress helped us with using chopsticks, even going to such lengths as to make our chopsticks more accessible. Staying true to its name, it truly is an A+ restaurant.

Good place for Chinese food. Second visit to the restaurant. Schezwan chef was on holiday second time around so there was no schezwan food!! Which was a downer. Don't expect great service but expect good food.

We all had diarrhoea the next day, and been having same food everyday so this restaurant is the reason why we got it unfortunately.

Just wanted to grab some quick food before event, didn't expect to get such amazing food. I'm a big Chinese enjoyer, and even I, who has visited hundreds of Chinese restaurants across the UK, was surprised at how delicious this totally random place was. Would recommend in a heartbeat

Nice atmosphere good tasty food

Ignore the good reviews. Bland food, poor service, rude manager. Salt and pepper chicken had no flavour and was fried chicken with couple of onions thrown on top. 1/2 duck was greasy the skin wasn’t crispy, I questioned this and was told that’s how they cook it. Fair enough, that’s just not to my taste. Satay seafood had 4 prawns and 2 pieces of squid and was £16. Rip off. We had to wait 45 minutes from the starter being finished to getting the mains. It wasn’t even that busy. We ate at 2.30pm on a Tuesday. I questioned the service charge automatically added on to the bill and the manager refused to take it off saying it was my responsibility to pay his staff that’s how they earned their money with the service charge. He said everyone is struggling with the cost of living crisis and his staff needed the service charge to make ends meet. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Don’t waste your money.

Absolutely outrageous prices! Rice is charged twice extra, as is a service fee. No recommendation. Rip off.

Foods are average at above average price. We had dim sum, roast duck and signature chow mien. We were charged £1.5 per container to takeaways foods we did not finish, which is unheard of. Restaurant usually gives them away to their customer for free.

BIg portions so ordered a bit too much 🤭 (we took leftovers home). Delicious food, especially the roast meats and dim sum. The braised roast pork with tofu was a bit less...

Food was good. Robot server came out at one point and my kids were quite excited/impressed to see that. Service was good and staff friendly. We also ordered late night food the same night (only place that seemed open till 2/3am). We called in about 11/12am. Phoned in to order, male server on the phone was friendly and advised on dishes when i was unsure. When i arrived at the advised time the food was ready. Delicious and pipping hot. Supplied good quality cutlery sets as i mentioned i was not from the area. Food we had at lunch: Taro meat fried cakes Beef cheung fun Crispy prawn balls Spring rolls Steamed sweet custard buns Century eggs/pork congee Stir fried beef ho fun Our late night food: Fujian fried rice Half crispy aromatic duck Stir fried Vermicelli noodles (cant remember exact one as the waiter made a choice for us when i asked for non spicy). All the food we had was good. Would visit again.

Delicious and authentic cuisine. We arrived in Manchester at 9:30 pm where most other restaurants were closing, but service here was still fast and the food was great. They even have a robot waiter to help the staff clear the tables of dishes!

On 23/7, I have been eating in 老地方 for the third time. The quality of food is of a very high standard, The staff are very nice, especially Stephen and William, they are friendly and offer good service to all the customers. Moreover, the price of food is reasonable. Every time when I visit Manchester, I will visit this renowned restaurant! I highly recommend this 老地方 restaurant to you.

The waitstaff were friendly. I did find the roast duck to be a little bit bland but other than that food was okay.

We've just got back from here. I wanted to say that the food was lovely, it was 12 noon on a wet Monday and it was already packed. It seemed like it was mainly oriental families (which is always a good sign). Will definitely go back. My son whose 20th birthday we were celebrating, loves Chinese food. He said it was one of the best he’d had (trust me he’s had a lot). I have IBS and fried food is a no no for me. I had the steamed dumplings which were full of flavour and not watery like you can get sometimes.

Chinese cuisine. The food was prepared to 3+. The duck is ok, but the meat in sweet and sour sauce is not so good. A robot drives around the hall and delivers food.

My step mum is a pregnant woman and I came in 1 minute late and they refused to serve me any food for example chips. If you have been pregnant before you understand having serve cravings yet they couldn’t give me any salt and pepper chips even 1 minute after they close even though online they said it was open for another half an hour. There was also people inside the restraunt eating and getting served food at the time.

Superb food. One of the only places open late on a Thursday (why Manchester, is it so difficult to have places open late to eat?). Plenty of veggie options and they'll do something special if you ask (nicely). Absolutely loved the spicy tofu and garlic morning greens.

Awesome food. Been here so many times now. Food is always on point. Service is amazing. Super friendly staff and always so attentive. The food is also ready very quickly. This is now my go to place for Chinese food.

Came here on Friday with my mum for a bite to eat. Never been to China Town or here before. The food was tasty, presentation was lovely and shout out to Johnny who was very pleasant and who meet our needs. The prawns wer great as was the duck. Thank you very much.

Went around 11pm on a Saturday night with my wife. Totally enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. Busy place, but that only enhanced the experience. Will be back next time we are in Manchester. Open a lot later than any of the other restaurants in Chinatown. Had one of the set menus on offer, quality.

Went here with elderly mother , wife and daughter … first thing i will say is that as white English people we somehow received different treatment and food to the chinese families dining around us. We were given plates, knives, forks and assuming we were unable to use chopsticks (we can!). Numerous dishes ordered including szuechan seafood which we have eaten many times before elsewhere. When it arrived it was seafood coated in a very very sweet sticky sauce. We spoke to the waiter about how sweet it was and ordinarily it isnt like this, only to be told be the waiter that that is how it is served in a restaurant! Yes, we have eaten in chinese restaurants before!! Eventually the waiter said he would get the chef to redo the meal. When it came back it was around 5 or 6 pieces of seafood with a huge amount of peppers, onions and indiscrimiate vegetables with red hot, thin scalding hot watery sauce poured all over it. Suspect the chef wanted his own back by making it inedible. Unfortunately we didnt complain at the time as 21 year old daughter was treating us a thank you present and she pleaded with us not to make a scene. Plus was forced into paying a £15 service charge. Joke!

The Service was good, But the food is not worth the money, Sterile, unbelievable noisy restaurant, Tasteless standard food, Chicken noodles not eatable, "Roast Duck" below average, Quite dissapointing.

I could smell the MSG just when I entered the restaurant. The food was a bit more expensive than other Chinese restaurants nearby. Fried dumplings were not crispy as expected.

Hong Kong style restaurant, delicious dim sum

The food is good, the price is a bit high, but give it a try.

One of the best Cantonese tastes I ever had in the UK. Stuff looks like mid-age HKers(which means they really know about authentic Cantonese taste). Meanwhile, the vibe of the whole restaurant feels rather vibrant and young, which I like. They have a dim sum Manu aside from the main Manu so remember to ask for it if you want dim sum! Recommends: Cantonese roast duck, Char siu, Rose soy sauce chicken, Roasted Pork Belly and Oyster Pot, chicken feet with rice vinegar sauce(dim sum), mango pudding.

I encountered today dinner with poor food quality and taste of Sanshao rice(三燒飯) including a simple dim sum Niu Baiye(牛柏葉)

Food was awful, just go elsewhere

Stumbled across the place when looking for a meal on Sunday night (as you can imagine everywhere was shutting by 9/10pm…) was amazed when we saw it was open till late night. Our meals were good portions are big and service is fab, the kitchen only missed making the prawn fried rice spicy as my boyfriend loves his spicy food but it wasn’t a biggie. Have visited a few times since finding this sweet gem

This is a must visit venue if wishing a Chinese meal without the frills of an all you can eat buffet. The portions are v.large , and staff can't do enough for you .10/10 . When in Manchester this is the place to visit.

Very bad service! Awful attitude! Especially the woman in reception. If you look down upon the customers who speak Mandarin rather than Cantonese and English, I think you should mention it in your advertisement. No service at all but 10% service charge! Mainland China International students from non-Cantonese speaking areas should not eat at his restaurant! Chinatown has a lot of choices! He yelled at us while making money from us, and the manager also condoned it! Anyone who wants to pay to be tortured is welcome to go ❤️Arrogant at heart

Good food. Service is great, service staff is warm and attentive. We loved the roast duck and the claypot brinjal here. The combination roast pork and char siew is ok, not out of the world but it's not bad.

The food was better than any Chinese take out I've had before. But the price increase was not worth the quality increase. The tables near the bar at the front and the back of the restaurant are freezing due to the draft coming from upstairs that leaves the front door every time someone opens it and out thenkitchen because presumably there is andoor open there too. My wife and I dined with our coats on. When we mentioned it, they indicated that it is just the way it is. There are lots of other comments on here saying similar about the cold. I originally thought they were just soft because I'm a Yorkshire man who has his house set between 16-18C. But that was not the case. Service was good. 4 star if you get a seat in the corner or far side walls as they were out of the draft as shown by people comfortably in t-shirts.

Their roast duck is great! Dim sum is good. Recommend their stir fried flat noodles with beef.

If you are late at night this is the place to go. They open till 2am. Yet the food is good. There is a robot waiter as well ( serving dishes to your table)

During the Chinese New Year holiday, I went to the restaurant for dinner twice. It was really delicious. I recommend the lamb brisket and fried shrimp with salted egg yolk (I forgot the name of the dish).

Pretty average. We ordered the banquet for 4 but it seemed to go on forever, all in all we were there for about 3.5 hours. There were long gaps between courses and then when our mains finally started arriving we got a rice and one dish and then 10 minutes later received another and then 5 mins later another 2. By the time it has all come out the first lot and the plates were cold. Finally the mains were quite bland. On a positive the Dim Sum and roasted duck was nice.

This is my rating due to the fact the food was amazing all staff working members were kind and the atmosphere was magnificent.

The dishes we ordered was very oily and salty, roast duck was swimming in a pool of oil, the vegetables tasted more of salt then veggies, the pork was tough and had a strong pork smell. The portions are also small and prices on the higher side. Place is also dirty, floor and table was oily and there was leftover bits of food on our table from the previous diners. Service staff are rude and abrupt, especially the man cutting the roast duck and he was also picking his nose and handling the roast meat. Really bad experience and won’t be coming back.

The best Chinese meal we've had for a long time!

The plates are of considerable size. Of exceptional flavor. We ordered 3 dishes, eggplant, Chinese cabbage salad and half a duck, with a side of noddles. It is recommended to 💯.

Roast duck was very delicious. Moist and tender. However hot and soup soup was too sweet. Not nice at all. Was very disappointed 😞

Quirky Chinese Restaurant with unique modern technology touches of Robot delivering your food to the table and wishing you to enjoy when leaving 😁 Food is very reasonoably priced and really beautifully prepared! Sunday lunch and first time at Aplus. It was packed downstairs - with lots of Chinese customers - always a good sign. We ate upstairs by one of the large windows. The room was cold - which suited me. Dumplings to start - Xiao long bao (soup filled with pork) and seafood ones, were tasty. Plenty of filling. Aromatic duck with an excellent Hoisin sauce along with ginger and spring onion chicken served with egg fried rice. I thought the chicken dish was a little thick but, tasty. We ate everything. Will go back for the whole Peking duck next time. With so many Chinese restaurants to choose from in Manchester my in-depth research is going to take some time! But, I’ll tough it out.

Popular Chinese restaurant in Manchester Chinatown, at busy Sunday lunch service. Very friendly & helpful staff. Good menu choices, reasonably priced. We really enjoyed our meals and will definitely be going back soon.

Food was lovley staff were lovley, food was really good

This is the second time we have been in this place, and it will not be the last. The food is delicious, and the service is great, worth every penny. They take allergies and intolerance very seriously and help you find the dish that you can have. The vegetarian/vegan options are absolutely amazing. My partner tried the pork belly and 1/2 a duck, not at the same time, and he was very happy with the quality and flavour. I tried the salt and pepper eggplant one day and the vegetable with satay sauce. They were great. We are so full we can never order dessert...

It’s nice to have a restaurant open after midnight, the food was average but the service was great, very attentive. We ordered a seafood hor fun, which was a bit bland and no flavour. The pork belly in chilli oil wasn’t tender.

I’ve been going to a different restaurant for over 20 years and A Plus beats them hands down. The food was delicious and the staff were so helpful and pleasant. I didn’t think the food I usually have could taste any better but it did! My mum and me will definitely be returning. Thank you again! Amazing food!

It was a Monday evening, so it was quiet. But food was very good and particularly liked the recommendations from oir server.

This used to be called New Emperor but now Aplus. It is far better now than the old place. Excellent dim sum, standouts being the har gow, siu mai, fung jow and Siu Yok. In English they are pork and prawn steamed dumplings, steamed prawns in a gelatinous dumpling, steamed chilli and black bean chickens feet and Roast belly Pork. Always packed out with Chinese customers (a very good sign). Despite how busy they are, service is surprisingly very good.

Ridiculously good food nice waiters and great atmosphere definitely recommend
