Booked a meal to be delivered. Everything was delicious and service / delivery excellent. Generous portions and extras added -thank you! Highly recommend Anuurag - a great first visit and we'll certainly be returning! A great option for a mixed group like ours with 2 omnivores, a vegetarian and a vegan

Piping hot, on time to the minute and absolutely delicious! The meat in both the lamb Bhuna and mango chicken was really great quality and the sauces were really flavoursome too. We have recently given up on being able to get a decent curry in Barnet as our last few curry take away experiences weren’t great (especially Tiffin tin - expensive, 2 hours late and cold!) we are thrilled with what we ordered from here and is our new local favourite!

Spontaneously decided to go out for something to eat instead of getting a takeout. We all decided on going out for a curry and this was the closest place to us so it was hustle free. Ordered a lamb dish which was chewy but the sauce was tasty the other chicken dishes were enjoyed by the rest of the family. I will definitely give this place another try but it’s pricey for the quality of food you get.

The customer service is much to be desired - we were asked to move from table to table so as to accommodate other customers - when questioned the manager commented he was stressed and could not walk around with a smile on his face! Food maybe okay but only visit if you want to feel like the staff are doing you a favour!!!

Excellent vegetable biryani comes with some vegetable curry on the side as accompaniment. Neat and clean restaurant . V hospitable staff . Went there with the family last night - it's a bit old fashioned in its decor & even style of service, but the food is good. Had a king prawn shashlick which was very nice. My dependable Cockfosters home of curry 👍🏼. Good to see packed with punters on a Friday night too.

We regularly visit here and are never disappointed; the people who work here are great and the food is always lovely. I would definitely recommend the Mango Chicken special dish if you fancy something different as it is amazing; never had an Indian dish like it. Quite a small selection of alcohol, but there is a selection of wine and spirits.

This restaurant has recently relocated from another nearby parade of shops, I believe due to an expiring lease..I have frequented for over 15 years, with friends and family and considered this the best Indian Restaurant for miles! Shortly before the move, table hot plates were dropped and although the food was still excellent, one had the feeling that costs were being shaved..some dishes not so hot or full of meat as was the case previously.. staff were always efficient and polite, but a slight reduction to their no. 1 rating I felt.Since the move, some 2 months ago, friends and I have visited twice..still the same friendly staff, but the last visit, I had a chicken Tikka Masala, which was at best warm and their sauce was very 'manufactured'..very unlike the 'on the bone' Tikka Masala they used to serve, now only 'off the bone' and not much of it, with their usual unique sauce sadly substituted! The accompaniments, were similarly only warm and to my mind not as tasty as usual..even the chutney was a brown liquid, not the usual fayre. I will certainly try again..maybe a glitch as a result of the move or the Chef is on holiday..please improve as it was always the best for miles around.

Decided to visit a couple weeks ago with a few friends after a walk in trent park. We live in the local area and know the other Indian restaurants aren't too bad. This one unfortunately is Bangladeshi and not a genuine Indian restaurant at all. Won't go into a really long one but here are the points: - Bad mannered staff, some won't smile at you or engage in any conversation, like irritated robots (probably because we didn't order the overpriced drinks and poppadoms where the mark up is about 400%). We thought we'd offended them. We're doing you a favour by coming in, be polite and friendly to customers! - Ordered a variety of dishes, most turned out quite oily even the ones we thought were dry, chicken had been dropped in at last minute of cooking so the meat was bland. This is the not the place to come if you want to watch your oil/fat/sugar consumption. The spices could be tasted, not cooked through properly. Rice was tasty though.- Lamb dishes, quite a lot of fatty parts left on the lamb but sauces had some flavour in them. Rogan Josh was the only one that was nice out of the few that wasn't too chewy.- No one bothered to come and ask us how the meal was going, we usually enjoy this as we can have a chat about the dishes etc... this is when we realised we'd definitely offended them. We got the feeling they just wanted us to pay and leave, probably realised they were making a big loss on our table. All in all, poor restaurant, surprised they are still in business but probably the affluent local cockfosters crowd that don't question the food keeping them afloat, they used to be called something else but the staff are still the same. Tandoori nights isn't bad try that nearby. Also Romna gate in Soutgate too. Plenty nearby that are friendlier better value for money places to eat. Suffice to say, mates were not impressed at all.TIP for Staff: Cheer up! People are spending their money in your restaurant, show them some friendliness and respect, you're lucky to be in a nice area like Cockfosters with nice locals who support small businesses.

We were in the locality on a Saturday night and on impulse went in to see if there might just be a free table. It was politely explained that the restaurant was fully booked. However, we then thought we would at least order a takeaway for home and returned a few minutes later. The tone changed. We were asked what we wanted to order. We said we would first like to see the menu. The waiter clearly irritated said "I was trying to help you" and walked away!Impolite. We left. Won't go back.

This is a small Indian restaurant, but serves eat food. It is in relatively new premises, but has been in the area for over 30 years and a recent visit was as good as any over the time I have been coming here. Very busy on Saturday night, they were turning people away, so make sure you hook in advance. Really can't go wrong with food choices, not had anything I've been disappointed with.

We have been eating at the Anuraag for many years and I can not recall a single bad meal or experience - eat in, deliver or take away - perfect for a Saturday evening or mid weak treat. They remember what we like and make recommendations. It isn't fast food and on a busy night service can be a bit slow, but that is to be expected when you consider the number of dishes being prepared. Now they have moved to just along the road, parking is easier!

With Indian food as with Chinese there is a surfeit of providers and, almost without exception, the quality is generally good and the food acceptably tasty. The Anuraag is a cut above the norm and, whilst not quite being truly exceptional, delivers a taste sensation. The food is finely detailed and bears attention. Service is brisk and unassuming although, as ever, lager prices were hideous. Nonetheless I would venture that the Anuraag is the best Indian restaurant in the area by a clear point.

My partner and I visited on Saturday night and there were only three other tables in use at the time - a bad sign? The wine list is decent and the menu is varied - a real good choice of dishes - we ordered starters of aloo chaat and fish tikka along with five side dishes for mains with naan and rice. Portions were generous and the food was delicious, although my partner was unimpressed with the niramish (sp?) vegetables I thought they were a unique contrast on this type of menu. The decor is dated and could do with a bit more attention - a 'display' of champagne corks in between tables was covered in dust. Also, a major annoyance in this type of restaurant is the close proximity of tables and hence other diners, especially when one is sat next to Cockfosters own Hyacinth Bucket - talk about annoying. Sorry I digress, the main let down here was the service. It was apathetic for the most part, and the (I am being presumptious here) main waiter especially was so poker faced as to be rude. As he walked away from tables he was clearly mouthing his annoyance at other customers. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but he should have taken the night off. Given the number of restaurants in this vicinity, great service is key, and this place could well take a leaf out of Prezzo's book. We may return, but only if we cannot get a table elsewhere, and the emptiness of the place on a Saturday night might well indicate to the staff here that they need to shape up!

A nice Indian Restaurant near my house, i have been at Madras Cafe lot of time but my last visit was outstanding as i was looking for long to hang out with Gazals and drinks, as it is really tough to find Indian restaurant playing gazals these days. The server served me Pint of Cobra which had a nice taste, i ordered for a Lamb Seekh Kebab and specially i told the guy to make it juice, but it was not so juicy, the guy explained me that we don't make it on that manner, but at least they tried. The service was outstanding the server was friendly and had knowledge of what he serving. The ambience is simple and elegant. Will visit soon on my day off
