From a fellow Melbournian who’s being living here for over a year now. I’ve given this place a try 5 times now to be exact and now it’s really worth a review... Not even close to being an “Australian cafe” the coffee is SO awful, no one is actually an Australian barista and worst of all it’s £4.20 for an oat flat white!! Staff are always rude, they never smile- you’ll always be the first to greet them. Save your pennies darling, pret can make a better coffee!

Very noticeable burnt beans or over extracted in my Espresso. I asked for a single shot and what I got looked and tasted more like a weak Lungo

Excellent coffee here, they know how to make it. Nice chill vibe. Fun stop off before/ after the Apollo theatre.

Ridiculously overpriced coffee (£3.5 for a regular black Americano) and the worst taste. They use clearly overroasted (burnt) beans, which taste identical to ground coffee. There was no aroma, note or characteristics about the flavour

Been here twice hoping for the best. Both times the espresso was undrinkable. Sometimes when the coffee is horrible you hope the service will make up for it, but the employees were also terrible. Won't be going back.

I was never going to post a review. But few months ago I went here to buy a coffee ang admittedly, it is good but you could get better coffee around the area for a better price. Then I came here for matcha, and DONT ORDER THE MATCHA HERE! I ordered an EXTRA STRONG matcha latte, and there was barely any! I felt like I was drinking oat milk, with its still oatish colour. With its price point, I was expecting a solid experience but it was a let down.

Unfriendly service (I felt like an inconvenience). Coffee was also lukewarm, underwhelming and also the most expensive I’ve had in London? Bonkers to be paying that much for a sub-par coffee.

I question whether this place is Australian in any way at all. The two people serving were Asian (maybe Indian) and potentially were husband and wife. I'm aware that people can appear Asian and still be Australian but their accents were distinctly Asian sounding and not Australian and they were speaking another language to each other at one point. The coffee itself smelled and tasted VERY different to coffee I am used to. It smelled like tobacco more than coffee and had a very bitter taste. I've heard a lot about how good Australian coffee is meant to be and I was thoroughly disappointed hence why I question whether it actually was Australian at all.

Went there yesterday morning for a coffee, and I definitely had a good experience, the young lady was very nice and she made me an outstanding coffee, the place was pretty cool , and I enjoyed my coffee while I also was listening to the playlist the put on. I definitely recommend to anyone to pop there for a coffee!

Such a cute cafe with absolutely fab coffee and delicious pastries ! The staff are so lovely as well. All in all a lovely little cafe.

Love this place when the Aussie owner is around, he makes phenomenal coffee and great chat. His employee on the morning of 20 April '24 was the absolute opposite. Terrible espresso, horrible attitude when asked to remake. No communication as to place in queue, said it'll probably be the same when remade. Second time was better, but water volume made it closer to a strong filter coffee.

Cute little coffee shop. Very nice coffee and friendly barista. Price might seem a little bit higher than other places but taste definitely worth it all. Highly recommended to try it at least once and will be back once in Hammersmith area again.

Yummy, friendly service and easy to get to via Hammermsmith Station.

Antipode is one of the older speciality coffee shops in London. It is named after the people that founded it, who are antipodean, which means as far as I know you are either from New Zealand or Australia. Australia's speciality coffee scene is supposed to be excellent, I assumed this place would be the same, as it serves square mile coffee and is recommended by a couple of famous publications. Well I assumed wrong, because this was the worst square mile coffee I've ever drunk in London and well below their usual excellent standard. The barista did ask me if I wanted sugar, my answer is usually no but on this occasion I should have done. It was also the most expensive coffee I have ever paid for in London, I visited here on a Saturday afternoon and at the time of my visit I was the only one in the coffee shop. My verdict is they must improve substantially if they are to survive, as the competition is only a short walk away and much better and cheaper.

Sorry guys but my long black was hugely disappointing. Really badly extracted brew resulted in a bitter tasting drink. Last week I tasted the same coffee beans (Square Mile Red Brick) skilfully brewed by a barista in a different coffee shop and my coffee tasted amazing. I’m especially disappointed as the place is apparently owned by Antipodean. One of the best ways to judge speciality coffee shop is consistency and Antipode fails this basic test.

Order a dbl espresso and was I asked “if I like sugar?” Apparently you cannot do the sugar yourself. Dbl espresso on the menu board if clearly priced at £3:40 which is steep by any means. I was charged £3:60. Coffee was served with no spoon. I asked what type of sugar did you put in. “Just sugar” was told. Can I have a spoon please? Was given one out of the sink below the counter I was standing at. I asked why I was charged more than the menu price. He snorted “because of VAT my friend” coffee sales automatically have 20% vat added….its the law. I thanked him for the opportunity not to put in my own sugar, the dirty spoon and the extra charge and decided not to taste the coffee. I went two doors and had a lovely dbl espresso at £2:40. I let you make your mind up.

Ignore that they do breakfasts, they don’t. But the owner cannot be bothered to update google

Very good coffee but lots of single use cups even for clients having their coffees at the venue. It would be better to use ceramic mugs to reduce trash. In any case recommended both for drinks and pastries!

My favourite coffee shop in UK. If your looking for good coffee you will know its hard to come by in the UK this place is the best you will find in London! Also good vibe in the evening open till 11pm most nights

I didn’t realise I had a talent of acting as a Venus fly trap but that’s role I ended up playing here batting flies away because of how dirty this place is. With how expensive the coffee is, I’d expect a clean and more refined atmosphere with WiFi and the coffee hotter as it was served luke warm. Staff were perfectly pleasant and fine but, yeah - no thanks on coming back.

Really good coffee but the interior is appalling. We kept swatting flies throughout the entirety of the time we spent at the cafe. Also, why do we have to look at toilet towels, papers and detergents from our seats? It’s disgusting. There’s no space to install a door, I get it - you can hang some nice drapery and save us from this sore sight. The tiles look like they have gunk, gums or something. Filthy (and £5.50 for a filter coffee). Step up please.

Had a nice coffee here, better than your average coffee shop. Not the most comfortable to sit in for a while though.

Great coffee, not bad pastries, decent smashed avocado and sour bread, shakshouka etc. A little worn at the edges and chilly on cold day.

The worst brunch experience tbh. Pouched eggs are overcooked, beacons are cold, and avocados are not mature. Also the restaurant has the worst lighting which makes you feel like as if you're eating in the basement

Fab coffee, if you're super into your coffee this is probably the place for you, nothing really dulled down by syrup flavours so you can appreciate the coffee. Service was quick but the guy serving us seemed a bit too cool for school and wasn't the most friendly but he was also by himself so could of very well just been a bit rushed. The music was very loud so wasn't really the place to go to chill out but can defo imagine it being great in the evening. Great location too Would love to try this place again for food as the menu looks lovely!

Coffee was great. Not amazing, but quite a few steps above the average London coffee. Vibe is really nice, mellow tunes and a lovely spot out front to enjoy the sun.

As two Aussies who many many years ago lived in London we knew all too well the coffee is always shocking. After a few terrible cafe Nero, star bucks, pret coffees we were over even ordering our morning hit. We stumbled literally across Antipode. The milk wasn’t burnt and the coffee beans were full of roasted goodness. Aussies in London get your self to the best coffee in London !

I have not been here in years yet back in 2016 I came here and enjoyed the avocado on toast! Superb stuff! Hope to come back to visit from New Jersey . I recall the food being delicious and service second to none!

Our breakfast stop Saturday morning just a block south of Hammersmith Station. Enjoyed the selection of music played ranging from jazz to electronic (though if a few decibels lower, we would have eaten indoors vs. outside). The Shakshuka with poached egg was spicy, tamed somewhat by the accompanying yogurt. Our other plate had avocado on toast also with poached egg. The coffees were enjoyable. While we had lattes this day, it was nice to see an option available for V60 drip, Sitting outside, we took our time with morning breakfast, watched the passersby en route to Hammersmith station. A nice breakfast option near Hammersmith Station.

The best coffee I've had in my life, simple as that. The Japanese Filtered Coffee, in a V60. Takes about 5 mins to decant, but what a flavour. Smooth, rich, a total bliss. Service was absolutely lovely too. Warm, human, spontaneous, kind – no fuss, not pretentious. I live in East but will surely come back.

Rude staff, overpriced coffee didn’t taste good

Came here and spent £10 on two coffees was told that I can’t sit outside because I’m not drinking alcohol ? What a silly rule - outside and inside was empty and nobody was sitting there. Rude staff, in spite of the fact we were spending money like anyone else and it was empty was told we can’t sit outside? Do not reccomened.

A bit underwhelming. I came here for the great reviews. The coffee was all right, but man was it uncomfortable to stay there. Very hot in June and no outlets.

Awesome coffee. Wonderful people. Excellent croissants especially the pistachio. l left my iPhone and they kindly kept it for me, so I was super grateful. They refused to accept a reward, too. Highly recommend.

Honestly it’s the best decaf espresso drink you’re gonna find in London. Rarer and rarer these days. And the croissant is fabulous.

Met the owner who served us. This guy makes great coffee, my latte was frothy and the mugs he served the coffee in were also very cute...and he also has delicious decaf 😍 He needs to promote this place more on social media, it's great.

Been waiting to try out their coffee for a while and finally made it here today! I ordered a large flat white. The first sip was so bitter and I was a bit disappointed. BUT! After a couple more sips, it gets better and better! Ohhh I love it!

Very rude customer service by a man who came after we walked in to tell the lady that we would have to sit for “max 1 hour” in a rude way although the place was completely empty. While leaving because we didn’t want to be rushed, he looked at his co worker and said (rudely) ‘they won’t find another place anyway’. A shame because the woman who welcomed us initially was professional and kind.

Here for the very first time and Cecilia and Rapha were behind the counter. The service was fantastic they were beautifully attentive. I felt as if they were welcoming a guest into their own home. Will 100% be back and would recommend a thousand times over.

I had simply the best macchiato here. It was so rich and smooth. Also, they warmed the croissant and banana bread we ordered to go. I was in a real rush so don't think I got a chance to truly show any appreciation for the quality to the staff. Thanks

This is modern minimalism in the form of a coffee shop. Good quality coffee that you like the taste of and want to keep sipping as opposed to knocking back - it has earth textures with no acidic taste. The pastries and food options are also minimal making it easier to chose but also all about quality of what is on the menu. I think some people might struggle with that because today people love choice. The staff were friendly but when we walked in there was loud music playing and they didn’t make an effort to lower the sound. There is some little seating and the vibe is cool.

Great place to grab a cocktail. The staff is lovely and the bar has a welcoming, cozy atmosphere.

£4.20 for a flat white?! That's the most I've ever paid for a coffee in London, and I buy several daily. Crazy! It was good..but I was also quickly told that if I wasn't eating anything with it, I had to sit at the bar. It wasn't busy..so found the experience pretentious for what you get

Somehow they think it’s okay to charge £4.70 for an oat flat white. The coffee was good (not £5 good), but it was cold and the decor’s a bit bleak.

Standard little speciality coffee shop offering Square Mile espresso and V60 coffee. On the more pricey end (£3.50 for a Flat White + £0.50 extra for Oat milk). Pastry and cake selection is good. It’s a fairly small location so I imagine it can get quite busy. Service was nice. Interior is a little dilapidated hence the 4 stars.

This place looks the part but I had the saddest flat white I’ve ever had here. Extremely milky, I actually wondered if they’d forgotten to put coffee in it.

We were standing for 5 minutes waiting to order while the barista was doing something else and she practically kicked us out at 11.50am because she decided she'd have a break. Relax, we just wanted two coffees :)

Staff was friendly, coffee was great. However I felt that the cafe looked quite forlorn and there was not too much pastries to choose from. In the end what matters is that the coffee is smashing and they also sell fresh coffee beans 😊

Excellent service but terrible food, everything cold and old, me and my sister got sick straight after eating after sharing a plate due to really acid bread, the poached eggs looks like was made on a microwave three days ago

Barista told me this morning that this place is no longer dog friendly. Antipode changed its policy, apparently. Coffee is good, but I won't come back as I can't bring my dog in.

They dont pick up and the phone, and when we came after 40 minutes drive, the simpley said “the kitchen is closed”!

Good coffee but very run down feel.

The coffee is okay, but on the higher price end (above £3 for a stay in 8/10oz hot drink). What almost got me to leave, but my friend was already sat down, was the atmosphere. Looks run down, and the smell... I went home stinking of frying oil! Eww

Stopped in for brunch here and ordered a latte and Shakshuka. The latte was exceptionally strong and bitter, so sadly I had to put it aside. The Shakshuka was full of flavour, but very spicy, so again I couldn't eat much of it (the sourdough that came with it was nice though). If you like a kick to your breakfast this may be the place for you. However i'll be sticking to the place a few doors down that has a wider range of dishes for different tastes (and great coffee).

Brunch was not bad,but I went there for Melbourne magic coffee, first of all, they didn’t know what was that, second of all, the coffee was cold and burned and honestly undrinkable.disappointed 😞

Cosy independent coffeehouse in Hammersmith . Walked past this countless times and never knew of the place until someone recommended it. Posssible the best coffe in town but wish they had a large like Costa or Starbucks. Gorgeous and strong coffe deff worth a try. . Try coconut latte !

Very disappointing. Poor service. Over 10 minutes to get a below average coffee to takeaway. I'm glad I didn't stay for food as I would have lost the entire weekend waiting.

Good place to kill time. Food is homey and staff are cool. Hash browns OJ and Cappuccino.

My go to order is bacon+egg naan (minus bacon), which is usually very tasty. Coffee is nothing special but a decent brunch spot
