Anoki Restaurant - Burton in South Derbyshire

Food was very good, much better than the takeaways. Atmosphere is nice and the staff generally treat you well. I was not best pleased with the service however and even though there were only 4 tables the waiting seemed rushed and hap-hazard and inconsiderate, grabbing a napkin and throwing it in our laps without offering or waiting for us to accept. And the building is getting run down, bathrooms are tired and not well cleaned. For the cost I expect better and can find better elsewhere which is a shame as this was always the best curry restaurant in the area.

Brilliant food and service Plenty parking

The service was exemplary. They really paid attention to the customers and the children. The restaurant is welcoming and comfortable. I enjoyed the food. There is plenty of parking and the entrance is pleasant. The price slightly high and the starters were not to my taste but the mains were delicious.

Food poisoning Went for a family meal on Sunday today is Tuesday morning and still in Derby Hospital after many of blood tests tested and got knows what else they found discovered it is food poisoning at one of the worst cases they’ve ever seen. I have never felt pain like it in my life, please be careful when you’re eating. I promise you it nearly killed me.

Part of order was missing, mains dish part! Try making one mains dish go around 4 people! Doesn’t work at all. Rice and rotis and nan and one starter of lamb chops were fine but only one chicken makhani instead of two ordered, spoilt my birthday meal. Rang Anoki direct as said to on receipt but took an hour for main dish to arrive . Very nice of them to include a few extras but too late to save the dining birthday experience

Great restaurant. Very good quality food starters and mains. Been numerous times over the years. The staff are dressed for the occasion. Just off A38 can be challenging car breaking and turning into car park.

Delicious food & great staff! No other Indian food compares, me and my family have been regulars for many years. When friends and family visit, Anoki is our go-to place to take them. Also, make sure you try the hot chilli fish!

Fabulous evening, as ever. Food was the usual very high standard presented beautifully. Service was friendly and, although preparation is from fresh food, time between courses was more than acceptable.

Visited last Wednesday which supposedly giving %50 off every Wednesday but this is not true and been waiting 1 hours food arrived. As a regular customer I will never visit this place again, There are plenty of better places to dine. My advice is to find one.

The quantity, quality and service doesn't actually match the price. Then on top of that they add a service charge. But there is a market for this and people will pay!

Very Overpriced. Had a similar meal at other Indian restaurant for a third the price and it was much nicer.

Good food but way too expensive a guys don’t be fooled there is a service charge for the waiters that u don’t have to pay when. U call a waiter to ur table make sure u don’t pay the extra service charge as that is optional

I can't believe people are paying just under £30 for a curry it's madness. Couple it with a starter and main 'deal' it's £50. It's a massive money grab. The waiter nocked over half drunk big bottle of beer when serving and went to replace it and did so with a small bottle because it was half drunk. In measurements he is correct but come on that is so tight considering 10 of us were eating. The voted best curry house in the UK serves a £12.75 curries and it's 30 mins drive from this place ,- just remember that.

Marquee outside is well decorated and kept warm by live burning charcoal and electric heaters. Food was good quality and service was good.

Ordered a food online, i was waiting for 2hrs ( it had be delivered in 90mins) and decided to ring them. Phone was picked up by a rude person and found out that they havent even started to cook food because they don't have driver! So why would they even accept it, or they should give me a ring. Been told the driver gonna be there in 30mins and i said when it won't arrive in those 30mins will cancell it. Just heard rude you can cancel it now. Tried to speak with Manager but hes the same like there worker. I was returning customer at least once a month but never again. PS. Firstly he said that driver is on the way, a minute later that driver already left and ended that he didn't even picked it up! 2 months since it happened Havent recived my money back! Tried charge back and they believe thay payment is correct. Be careful when ordering online. Update. Sabrina help to sort it out and i did received a voucher for the amount spent on that order. Ps. Food is delicious, best chicken tikka masala ever

The restaurant did not adapt the order to our requests oh the app. Poor effort as this is a function of the app. I blame the restaurant.

A fantastic Indian meal. So it isn't cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for - delicate naan, plenty of pickles, non-greasy pillau, and wonderfully tasty curry.

Mostly bone and no meat on my lamb

Not sure on all the good reviews unless we went on a bad night?! It was my birthday yesterday so we had booked Anoki well in advance. We had a takeaway once before from here so we were very excited to be going to eat in the restaurant. However the food was very disappointing. The 50% Wednesday discount does not even justify the prices. The only thing we enjoyed was the garlic chilly chicken starter but even charging that at £11 was greedy for the portion size. The main courses were absolutely swimming in greasy oil and the meat content of the butter chicken was measly for £26+ a main course. We asked for the bill to quickly leave and that took ages to come. Will not be returning and left us feeling robbed with the bill being £73 when it wasn’t worth it. (and that was with the discount!) :(

Good ambience, there was a party going on ,so parking was a bit tight, but lots of space available. terribly long wait for the food to arrive ,with kids hungry was difficult to manage for close to 45 .Taste about ok catering to the local population ,not the authentic I felt . Too Expensive n not worth for the Taste and time.

We had to have a quick meal as had a train to catch back to London. The manager and chef were amazing, cooking us up a treat meal in minutes that was fresh and delicious. Among the best curries we have had, and we have had a great deal. Next time we are in Derby we are going back to linger longer and sample more of the menu.

The service here was atrocious and when it was raised with the staff they responded with 'the food is worth waiting for'. Well, the customer will be the judge of that. We were seated at 7pm and others who arrived after us were served well before we were even approached. It took an hour for the starter to arrive, another hour for the main course, and the (unrequested) ice cream dessert - which we assumed was provided by way of apology - was a pathetic attempt to mollify us. Previously we were regular visitors to this establishment but it is clearly in decline. Aside from the poor service, the food quality isn't what it was, either - especially given the premium prices. Thee are plenty of better places to dine. My advice is to find one.

The food was lovely, and the service was very good. However, for me, it misses the mark for 5 stars due to the pricing being excessive. £80 for two, after ordering very conservatively, excluding service charge, was a bit much considering the total experience.

Anoki true to its name is a unique experience. We had delicious lamb dishes - Lamb Saag and Lamb Desi. The Prawns Masala contains good size king prawns, and the Chicken jalfrazi is delicious with polau rice. To add to this, we were served some of the softest plain and butter naans with a 'toasted to perfection' crusty layer. To top it all you are served with a variety of sweet chocolate and mint delights. Loved the traditional Kurta Shalwar / Shirwani and pagri attire for the staff. All that was missing for me was a live tabla and sitaar music corner. A must visit... Oh and do take your appetite....

I have never had such horrendous food or customer service in my life.. lamb madras was pure ginger chicken balti tasteless and called to discuss and told you should pay full price and order over the phone 🤬

Me and my family went to this restaurant we ordered starters and a main lamb curry which we asked to be spicy. We was totally shocked at the portion size of the lamb curry which we asked for to be spicy. This was exactly 4 tablespoons of curry which we paid over £25 for and this was a very mild curry and very dry hard to swallow. Very disappointed with the quality of the food we paid a total of £60 for a starter a main and 2 cokes aswell as a service charge. We then spoke to one of the waiters addressing the portion size and taste of the curry who spoke to the manager he totally fobbed us off. Will not be visiting here again and will not be recommending to anyone the place is a robbery. You do not get your moneys worth. Waste of time! I would not recommend to anyone, I would say its better to visit Tipu Sultans!

Great food, great service couldn't fault it

Really disappointed with my order, the curry i ordered was that salty that i couldn’t eat it and the chips were very soggy. A real shame as this was once the best Indian takeaway around! The quality has definitely dropped recently and considering the price it should be 5*.

Food was amazing, delivery was later than time given when ordering food, but I was updated to let me know new delivery time, food arrived at the new time given, food worth waiting for though

Everything was absolutely brilliant, service was fantastic up until it got a bit busier, only knocked a star off as we asked for our bill twice and had to wait 45 mins for it to be brought over. Food itself was delicious and can't fault the service, we did experience a problem with the wrong order but the team were apologetic and quickly resolved it which was great.

Food quality is very nice, but it is superb expensive if we compare with other similar restaurants nearby.

A table of four went for a NYE set menu meal. The service was a little slow, which was understandable considering how busy it was. They brought out 2 broken up poppadoms for four of us, whilst the table of 2 next to us had a massive stack. I did ask for more, which they brought over .... eventually. The pickles had plastic in it, which one of us nearly choked on (see photo). Cutlery was dirty and the food arrived barely warm. Considering the experience, I felt like I was being robbed when I was paying the £200 bill

Very good service and lovely food, not rushed. Checked regularly to see if we wanted more drinks. Added nice touches, like sorbet and Indian ice cream now. Which was lovely and more fine dining. Did forget to bring the mints at the end. The best cheese naan breads!

Planned family visit with kids (10 & 7) after trekking at nearby Calke Abbey. Impeccable and friendly service. Menu was varied and wide range to suit different taste buds. Timely service and quality and presentation of food excellent. Tasty and scrumptious dishes all around and nothing leftover. Highly recommended visit. 10/10

Wonderful environment. The sitting arrangements are classic. Professional and friendly staff. Food quality is awesome. Bit expensive though.

The food here is consistently great. We were given poppadoms and pickles shortly after sitting down, and staff were always around when we wanted them. There is plenty of parking but I would recommend booking in advance as this is a very popular dinner destination- due to the quality of the food.

The delivery window was 19:00-19:20. At 19:20, the tracking notice changed to "Enjoy your food", however the food was not here. I rang the restaurant and was told it would be leaving in a minute. The food then arrived at approximately 19:35. The 15 minutes lateness is understandable on a busy night, but there are two factors that result in my Delivery Time rating being reduced: 1. The delivery window was not updated and just changed to "Enjoy your food" at the end of the original delivery window. No further communication was given until I chased the order. 2. The entry on Just Eat erroneously states that the food was delivered at 19:05. In fact it was 30 minutes later than this (19:35).

Absolutely fantastic experience. The service was great and the food was delicious. I really enjoyed the desi lamb. The portions were very generous and we left very full! The atmosphere was also wonderful. This is definitely one of the best places I have gone to this year and one of the best overall service and atmosphere experiences I've ever had.

Absolute joke! Over an hour late. I pre-ordered food for 16:20 , its an hour late and food is still not here. Called restaurant, they claim delivery starts from 5pm, but Just eat clearly stated they start delivering from 1pm. Delivery estimate is also not being updated. Its past 5pm and Delivery estimate shows 16:45. Considering I spend £30 for one meal, the service is poor.

First of all, I'll be honest, the food here is lovely but..... I agree with lots of other people: very expensive curries (£26!), confusingly priced menu with so many different 'offers' you need a calculator to work out the best deal and you just feel like you're probably being ripped off. Compulsory poppadoms at £2 per head. Optional service charge but they add it to your bill so you have to ask to remove it. Minimum £20 spend per person. It all makes you feel undermined as a customer and we won't be returning.

Food was ok, definitely not the “fine dining” they advertise on the menu, poppadoms come to the table without request, took them 45 minutes to take our order in an empty restaurant. Got our starters and then the main appeared, after 10 minutes I had to go and ask someone where my sons food was, they had completely forgot to cook his food, when it came out there was too much. This restaurant is not child friendly, the service was incredibly slow and I had to wait 30 minutes for the bill from request of the bill. I will not be going again, do not recommend if you have children. Only if you have time to waste.

Food and service were excellent but they costed us for unselected items and starters which was very disappointing the customer service, in future they must change it.

Food took 2 hours to be delivered despite the restaurant being local and delivery time quoted as 45mins to 1hr. Most of it was cold. Restaurant doesn't answer the phone. Food was mediocre, definately wouldn't order from Anoki again.

The food and the service was outstanding. Staff are both super efficient and super friendly. I just mentioned in passing that it was my wife's birthday, nothing more, and somebody must have picked up on it and to our surprise they came to the table with a candle, an indoor firework and two complimentary desserts. A really lovely touch. Little things like this make certain places that little bit special.

The prices compared to the portions of the starters and mains are extortionate, and the food was mediocre
