My breakfast was spoiled by the overcooked eggs, yolks were burst and hard! 3 hairs found on plate!

Easy to miss or dismiss from the outside. Inside it’s surprisingly spacious, clean with a wide variety of traditional café options from full breakfasts to baked potatoes, toasties and take out rolls. A good selection of genuine home baking (as opposed to bulk buy from the cash and carry). All food prepared fresh. Friendly and efficient staff. Easy to park . Although a bit of a walk from the town centre (5 mins) it’s definitely worth it for value and quality. The adjacent’Shack’ offers ice creams, sundaes, crepes and waffles, again all freshly made and great value. A friendly local business catering to the community and visitors alike. Don’t miss it!

This place is perfect for a brunch/breakfast or even a good meal! The staff were brilliant, went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed Family atmosphere and going by how many people came in they are obviously very popular

We visit my mother in law (91) on a regular basis so I often get my breakfast at Annie’s. Today a full Scottish, toast and two excellent cups of coffee with a Sunday paper. Bliss. This is as good as it gets!

Stopped in to grab a bite to eat while out with family. From the second we entered we felt like we had been going for years. The staff were friendly and welcoming as well as adapting the menu to accommodate my son who is 1yrs old. The food was cooked perfectly and the price was surprisingly cheaper than expected.

Waste of time. Was told when to come and pick it up. Arrived, had to wait 15 minutes and they didn't even start making it.

Not been to this place before today however I will never be returning due to pure lack of manners from the staff I was stood at the counter waiting to be served and two people came in behind and she deliberately took there orders first and made us feel like we had done something wrong we then decided to just leave because it was very unlikely we were going to be able to place an order due to the staffs immediate dislike to us. I could not recommend a place less than Annie’s cafe and I believe they need to work on they’re service I can’t comment on the food because they’re no chance of being able to place an order. Bitterly disappointed

I drove my son to a cricket tournament at Galashiels early morning. While he was enjoying his games, I went to Annie's Cafe for a full breakfast. The place was clean and tidy. Service at the counter was efficient. I found a table by the window and food was served within minutes. Saw a number of locals popping in for takeaway. Overall, a friendly place to enjoy a Sunday breakfast for a similar price one could spend at the nearby Golden Archer. There is no contest. So glad to support the local community.

Every time without fail I go into Annies I come out with a smile on my face. Great chat and fantastic food are always the order of the day here. Go in and see Jilly, Sarah or any of the fab crew and they will cater for your every need (within reason). Great home made food to either set you up for the day if you have a breakfast or fill up a hungry tummy for lunch. They also do a fantastic range of take-away rolls, or boxes to help you on your way. I very rarely pass here without dropping in either just for coffee or for full blown yummage, all freshly made with fabulous service - what's not to like??

My husband and I popped into Annie’s for a snack lunch and it was brilliant. Great value, freshly made food, fabulous service. What more can you ask?! Everything was hot and very tasty. Good sized portions and, as I said already, freshly cooked to order. We have been before and would highly recommend to anyone. No airs and graces just a real, decent cafe with value for money great food. 4 coffees, a toastie, bacon roll, portion of chips and a traybake for under £19! Who could complain about that?! Will definitely return

Okay, it was actually on the side of the road, but the food was below average, being dry and uninteresting and very disappointing. However, the staff were attentive. But I must say the place was clean, bright and well patronised by the locals, many of whom were take-away customers. It was warm, and the loos were clean.More attention needs to be given to food presentation, and earring of plates. All cooked food seems worse when served at the wrong temperature - basic really isn’t it?

We use this cafe very regularly and have given it glowing reviews previously. Visited here Saturday morning and it was empty. Ordered some hot rolls and coffee for me and my hubby. They arrived quickly after asking for the bacon to be well done. Quite honestly the food was inedible. The bacon was ROCK hard and tasteless. Hubby’s black pudding and potato scone were burnt beyond recognition. This was when I saw a big plastic tub in the kitchen containing precooked sausages sitting next to the hot plate. Now makes me think breakfast items are being precooked then microwaved to reheat (certainly tasted like it). For 4 hot rolls and 2 coffees it came to just short of £18!! Took the disgusting rolls home and even the dogs wouldn’t eat them! Come on Annie’s Cafe .....get back to your previously high standards. Sorry but it will be a long time before we return. Save your money and go to one of the numerous cafes on Bank Street ....far better quality and a lot cheaper!!

So disappointed by this place, what a let down from all the glowing reviews which having visited myself seem 100% genuine . I’m always keen to support local small businesses but this one lets Gala down. The service was rude and sulky, and food quality ever so poor. The ingredients were so cheap it was inedible. Two of us had full breakfasts but left half as it was so bad. I must say though, the food was cooked to a high standard, it’s a shame the owner doesn’t have enough respect for the customers to spend more than 40p on ingredients for a £5.80 breakfast. Have some self respect and spend your hard earned cash at a more deserving local cafe, or even McDonalds would be better.

I have used Annie’s for Many years, the food is always great, you can choose what you Do or Don’t want, whether it’s just a filled roll or a Full Breakfast or a sneaky Lasagna and Chips for lunch, you can have what you want! The staff couldn’t do more to help, I highly recommend Annie’s to anyone passing through, or if they live in the town :)

This is a great little café at the far end of Galashiels , going towards Peebles opposite Matalan ( which is over the bridge ) , it has great friendly staff and gr eat food made fresh to orders eg if you want a fresh link sausage roll ( to carry out ) - then this is up your streetthe cooked meals ( set menu ) are really delicious and you know it is a good place when you see tradesmen going there - rather than macdonalds - recommended

We have been going to Annie's for years, a lovely wee cafe which serves a consistently good English breakfast, but also serves sandwiches, soups and other foods. Annie's serves a solid base of regular customers who come for the breakfast, soups and other menu items. There is also a lot fresh business to be had by people who are either passing through Galashiels for reasons of work and pleasure. The cafe is small, but after a recent renovation there is modern and comfortable seating and pleasant decoration throughout. The restroom toilet is normally kept to a good clean standard. On some occasions it can get quite busy which means that when you are eating you can have a queue of customers passing you by as you chow down. I don't mind this as it contributes to the atmosphere of the place and the feel you presumably are after if you decided to eat at a cafe in the first place. We go for the full English breakfast which you can order in a half portion that is perfect for smaller appetites or if you have kids. A generous portion of toast comes with the meal and the service is always prompt regardless of how busy the place is. If you chat with the staff they always chat back in a friendly manner. The breakfast? Well, there may be cafe's which have higher priced ingredients and slightly more options, but in terms of consistently good food, portions and value you cannot go wrong.

Go here now before everyone else figures out what amazing value this place is! The drive through the Scottish countryside is stunning (a half-hour drive from the railway stop at Galashiels). The owners have created something special that I simultaneously want to keep to myself and share with the world. Oxana's hosting (and baking and wine-pairing) skills mean you are welcomed with friendly service, clear explanations of the wine pairings and amazing, sweet treats. We have been twice - once in September and once in November - and from beginning to end, our glasses were never empty, and we were treated to amazing service. Now, the food is really something to talk about. Bryn is doing something special here. The food is fresh and innovative while remaining down to earth and approachable. A simple parsnip soup sent our table to heaven with its perfect spice. We had pork belly with the crunchiest crackling and lentils with vegetables that were flavoured so beautifully I couldn't tell what was in them. Blue cheese with truffled honey had all of us begging for more. Every bite is a delight, and some of it was items I wouldn't normally order. This food, this place, is truly something special, reflecting our Borders community and some of the best food in Scotland. Go now!

Stopped in for some lunch today. Friendly service with a good and varied choice of menu. Offers half portions of meals if more suitable. Brilliant value. Hot and cold options available. Felt like the teapot was bottomless, think it was 3 cupfuls in total!

Wonderful food and so nicely presented and the young man serving was so polite and professional. Only negative was the disappointing vegetarian options for my sister. Macaroni cheese is more suited to a cafe menu. But a lovely evening none the less.

Got to say, I’ve never had a bad meal or experience in here. The ham hock and lentil soup as amazing, the steak and mushroom pie was outstanding. It was packed with lean steak in a lush, beefy broth type gravy. Great fies, a la dente peas and everything was piping hot and cooked to order. Even the plates were warm, which I always appreciate. The staff were great and the owner is a real friendly guy. If yer heading North or South on the A68, make sure this is yer pit stop, even for a coffee and cake. Made me smile today whilst I was eating, it was that good. It looks like a greasy spoon if you pass it on the road, but it’s not! It’s on a par with very good pub grub, and it’s really clean inside, as is the kitchen which I passed on the way to use the bathroom.
