Andreou's Bistro in Angus

Delightful taverna close to the theatre in Arbroath. Visited (pre booked )on Friday 10 May with a friend. The restaurant was clean and staff welcoming thankfully no loud music to distract from easy conversation and a varied reasonably priced menu with vegetarian choices. Limited wine and beer on offer but what we had was perfectly good. A glass of Malbec and a bottle of Mythos beer. Keo unavailable. The food we ordered was well prepared and substantial, salads were fresh and the whole meal felt authentic and was delicious. I have lived in Cyprus and my friend is a seasoned visitor to Greece, so we both appreciated a proper Greek meal. The pitta was totally amazing as was the feta cheese with our Greek salad. The waiting staff were charming and we were disappointed not to be able to leave a well deserved tip as like most folks neither of us carried any cash and the waitress was not allowed to add any service charge to our bill. Perhaps this is something that can be reviewed as we sincerely wished to show our appreciation. I have no hesitation in recommending Andreou’s restaurant and look forward to a return visit. A little bit of Greece in Arbroath. The food was very good quality and generous in portion size! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I'd definitely go back. I visited again in 2024 and the quality, quantity and friendliness was still 5 star. The best restaurant in Arbroath.

We arrived at 18.00 for a table for two to be met with a barrage of noise coming from the pub next door we could not even speak to each other it was that cold customers were dining with their jackets on we had for a starter haulumi chips that came not cut when my girlfriend asked about this she was told the chef could not be bothered cutting them it was the worst experience I have ever had add the unisex toilet that all the people from next door were parading through the restaurant to use would not recommend this place at all

Booked for Afternoon Tea for Mother’s Day. As we arrived early we called to ask if we could bring our booking forward by 30mins and were told yes no problem. We arrived and were seated promptly. Bistro is cold so dress warmly. We waited for 15 mins before being offered drinks- we were one of 3 tables in at this time. After another 15-20 mins after that until our order was taken. Despite offering various options ie vegetarian vegan GF etc and with no restrictions given during the booking process or on their social media advertising, we were told we couldn’t have one ordinary AT and one vegetarian- they must be the same. Disappointing and we wouldn’t have booked if we’d been told that. The kitchen appeared to be under stress with the 4 tables, including us, who were in by then, despite everyone eating/arriving at staggered times. The 2 young waitresses were very pleasant and one apologised re the lack of choice as advertised. We obviously had no option but to choose vegetarian. The food itself was good, despite taking a very long time to come. The cakes included frozen profiteroles which had just defrosted. Overall it was fine but if no option to order individual choices if one person has dietary requirements/preferences then that should be made plain to customers. Slow food service, despite not being busy but this wouldn’t put us off returning however hopefully choices would be given and service be a bit quicker next time.

What a gem! I really didn’t expect the authentic Cypriot & Greek atmosphere that this restaurant had. It was small, rustic and the first thing you smell when you enter is the charcoal grill. The food was amazing, looked and tasted authentic (like if cooked by your Cypriot gran) and brought us back straight to the Mediterranean. Would definitely recommend.

Good food and great service. Colour scheme (blue/white, traditional colors) weren't as welcoming as the cozy surroundings of darker colors and drapes would be, it was almost like a bathroom with too much white and contrasting blue for me, personally. Can't fault the food, beverages, service and prices though. Very good.

Little Greece in Britain. The food is very tasty and staff is very welcoming. We liked meze for 2 very much, the portion is quite big. Also recommend trying the prawns, they are so tasty. Also thank you for being open on Sunday, there are not so many place to eat and we were lucky to find you. Thank you! Will come back.

We had the new high tea. It was wonderful, a big platter between 2 including chicken skewers, dips, humus, savory muffins. Followed by cakes which were wonderful. The 2 vegetarians got falafel instead of the skewers, so everyone was happy. Brilliant!

πολύ νόστιμο!!! Food is very good and for the most part authentic. Portions are large and everything on the menu is very reasonably priced. it was a shame we were the only ones there when we went for lunch today - hope to pop in for dinner sometime soon. The shelves of items to purchase looked a little bare although this could have been because it was just after Christmas - would loved to have picked up some bits to take home!

Freshly cooked food, portions are huge and delicious, great atmosphere and great service. The halloumi is just beautiful

We arranged for 25 ladies to come for lunch before going to panto and paid a deposit and gave a preorder unfortunately the room was cold with no decorations, when our meals were finally delivered they were not very warm with one lady having to wait some time for hers and most had finished can’t fault the two ladies serving us they were pleasant but felt let down so won’t be going back

We heard such great things about this restaurant that we thought we would give it a try as we love Mediterranean food. It was a particularly cold night but the restaurant was cold. We felt for Arbroath the wine was overpriced. The starters we had were lovely but the mains arrived before we had finished our meze. The mains were average. Would prefer presented on a plate rather than a slate. No oozo left!!

Great place to enjoy sharing food with friends. Lively atmosphere, friendly staff and the food is amazing. Highly recommend..... go hungry as you will most definitely leave full

This was our second visit and the food was fabulous again. There was a wait for our food to arrive but well worth it because we knew it was all being freshly cooked. We had the mixed grill for two as well as a chicken souvlaki and lamb kofta all to share between 4 adults. There was so much in the portions and all high quality and well presented. Our son ate free as part of a Sunday deal on children's food. Can't recommend this place highly enough and we will def be back! Wine was also amazing!

Fantastic food, ive been to Andreous a number of times and always found the food to be outstanding. The overall quality of atmosphere and food is very high. However the service is often brutally slow and borderline neglectful. The last time in the restaurant we wait over a half hour to jave our food order even taken, with around 7 or tables sat and two servers. I've worked in hospitality and understand how hard it can be and the reality and limitations but I found the service this and every time rk be a let down.the only gripe of an authentic, flavourful and tasteful restaurant that is a credit to arbroath.

Lovely little place. Clean, was quiet enough, we had pre-booked. Service was good. food was delicious. The humous was excellent. Best pitta bread I've had, warm, soft and with pockets if airline bubbles making it so tasty. Everything we ate was so good. Highly recommended.

Sat down in an empty restaurant, ordered a lot of food and told we were ordering a lot of food (surely this is a good thing for any restaurant). Ordered a few drinks, yet when new customers arrived after paying the bill and giving a tip, we’re basically hassled out the door… Now I understand why it’s empty. We won’t be back. Good luck pissing off locals like that. Such a shame as food was nice enough yet when you’re treated like that, don’t expect me back.

Wir haben gerade mit 7 Leuten einen schönen Abend mit tollem, frischen und leckerem Essen sowie sehr nettem Service verbracht. Vorspeisen, Hauptgerichte und Nachtisch waren ebenso gut wie die Getränke! Da wir unsere Hunde mitgebracht haben, bekamen wir einen eigenen Raum (bei anderen Lokalen im Ort wurden wir nur abgewiesen). Hier jedoch sehr gerne wieder!

Our choice of venue to celebrate an 85th birthday. Loved the unpretentious ambience and super friendly staff as always. The food is simple, earthy and full of robust flavour and freshly cooked. No cheffy nonsense here or minimalist presentation! We’re told the menu has recently been tweaked, and Saturday lunches offered, so we will definitely be back soon.

Was looking forward to a taste of Greece, extremely disappointing visit. We arrived 5 minutes before our table booking time, there was only one other table occupied who were just leaving. We sat for 15 minutes before being offered the drinks menu, another 10 minutes before they arrived. We then ordered our meal starting with pitta and dips which still hadn’t arrived 25 minutes later. We paid for our drinks and left. We were told they were serving a table of 26 next door in the bar and that’s why we hadn’t been attended to. No excuse really but possibly an explanation at the time of ordering may have eased the situation slightly but this was not our problem. We will not return.

Great food, and a good selection of options on the menu. Portions are a decent size and there are plenty of options for vegitarians, coeliacs etc. Staff were very friendly and service was quick. Reasonably priced meal. Would recommend to anyone.

The wife and I enjoyed a pre theatre dinner on the 1st February and thoroughly enjoyed our food. The staff are fantastic and friendly and the food is delicious. We got the shared starter of bread and dips before moving on to our mains, lamb moussaka for the better half and I enjoyed a minced lamb dish that I can’t recall the name of suffice to say it was like 4 large meatballs, both served with either Greek rice or a choice of flavoured chips and also bread. In insight we should have maybe not went for the bread and dips starter but that doesn’t detract from the quality of the food. We have previously eaten here and enjoyed the meze to share and thats a lot of delicious food to eat and sample the various tapas available. Excellent food, friendly staff, value for money

We enjoy eating at this very friendly Greek Cypriot bistro with its authentic food and atmosphere. Highly recommend the great value Meze’s. You could be forgiven for thinking you were eating abroad but even better. Staff are always so friendly. We feel lucky to have this great restaurant close to where we live.

Definitely recommend the meze for two (for 2) Breads, dips, olives, meats, cheeses, salad,calamari, chips and can have vegetarian or vegan alternative. Absolutely stuffed and food was beautiful. Dessert was good and pints were cold. Came highly recommended and we will be back

10/10 food! If you are in Arbroath then please make sure that you visit here because the food is insane. Not only that but the restaurant has a chilling and calm vibe. The staff were helpful and nothing was ever too much of an ask. We didn’t have to wait long to be served. They do a wide variety of drinks and there is something for everyone on the menu. The next time I am in the area I will 100% be returning. I would recommend booking as I do believe the restaurant gets booked up extremely quickly due to the food being that popular.

Amazing food and great service, 3rd time we’ve been and its been spot on every time. My only slight criticism is the decor and toilets could be improved but the food more than makes up for this!

Great, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and wonderful food. If you are undecided, the mezzi for two will happily feed 3 people with the addition of another tapas style dish or two. Highly recommended and will come back again.

We have visited Andreous a few times and have always thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We visited as a family and were extremely happy with the service and food. As a family of 5 , meals out can often be expensive but Andreous is so reasonable. The gyros is fantastic and so affordable. Childrens meal offered a variety of staples and good sized portions. We will be back again and again. Keep up the great work!

This is the third time I’ve eaten here and the food never disappoints! Everything was delicious- particularly the pork belly and mixed gyros. The service was also excellent- the whole restaurant is warm and welcoming. This is my new favourite place to eat.

Lovely Greek/Cypriot restaurant close the the harbour in Arbroath. Friendly staff, wide selection on menu, which does include vegetarian options. Lovely Greek wine and Ouzo. Throughly enjoyable. I strongly recommend it to the diner who looks for something a little different.

Love the Greek good here been 4 times before. However booked a table for 2 to bring a friend who drove up from Edinburgh to try the Greek food. When we arrived we were handed a Brazilian menu . I asked for the Greek and was told food they were doing a Brazilian week and the Greek Menu wasnt available At the time of booking were never told this as I wont have booked.. The Brazilian Food was very poor and over priced. Extremely disappointing and a huge let down

Wow! Ordered a meze for 2 (vegetarian). The dishes were all delicious and you can tell it’s all fresh ingredients and full of flavour. The dishes kept coming and and was finished off nicely with a mousaka which is one of the best Iv tasted! Great value for money. I will be recommending to others to go and I will definitely be back.

I didn’t even know that Arbroath had a Greek style restaurant, have I been missing out.Friendly and welcoming staff member greeted my wife and I this evening, knowledge of the menu was fabulous and was able to explain exactly what dishes were on the Meze for two, attentive and unfortunately I didn’t get her name to say thank you for brilliant service.We settled on the Meze for two (meat version) and oooft there was a good helping of dishes finishing up with the lamb and chicken, we were well stuffed but in a good way. I wanted to try a pudding but my waistband was saying “ who are you kidding “Quality of the food and service was impeccable, prices were very reasonable and the selection available on the menu was very good and not overwhelming.If I had any criticism ( I don’t it’s just a preference) I wouldn’t have had chips as one of the Meze selections, otherwise great value for money, lovely staff and traditional Greek dishes in Arbroath

My sister and I went here for lunch on a rainy day but we were transported to Greece with the brilliant atmosphere and delicious authentic greek food. The service was friendly, quick and efficient. We had the hummus with pitta to start, the halloumi and red pepper burger and a moussaka for main course followed by the caramel churros for pudding. It was all reasonably priced and the menu is clear with the sizes of the portions, we will definitely be back!

Throughly enjoyed our Meze lunch. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Huge change from the Fisherman's pub I remember from my misspent youth. We will be going back.

It is a lovely family restaurant. Mediterranean kitchen. The place to go! Highly recommend!
