We've been here several times. Always, fresh, delicious and authentic, Thai food. Can't fault it. If you've not been, you're missing out.

Up in Montrose on business first time here and not disappointed. Had the red pineapple curry and coconut rice really nice, nice surroundings in the hotel staff very helpful and pleasant

A peaceful, polite and welcoming place to enjoy quality Thai cuisine. A good blend of menu options, simple but tasty deserts and a quiet setting. The backgound music was suitable and tasteful, the decor simple and clean with lots of space around the tables. We'll be coming again!

This place is best place eat in Montrose . Me and my family eat here regularly and food is always delicious.and icecream amazing 🤩

Excellent Thai food and very friendly staff. We were celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary and really enjoyed out visit. Nice atmosphere and busy for a Thursday night so recommend to book.

Food is always fantastic, ice cream is the best I've ever had, best place to eat in town, you will not be disappointed.

Was there a few nights ago, not sure what to expect, bit worried it might be a bit spicy for me, but was delicious, had the sweet and sour chicken, highly recommend a visit 😋

Don't be put off by the dubious entrance. Once inside the decor is smart, with friendly, helpful staff. Food was delicious with generous portions, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here!

The entry to the restaurant is unprepossessing, however once upstairs in the restaurant itself it is lovely, the staff welcoming and the food is out of this world.

Outstanding service, setting and food

Serve well enough thai food. Tomyum is tasty. It can improve on the speed of service, food come slow, but well probably real thai food need time to prepare as they are not on a big scale i guess. Starter taste good but small portion.

My colleague and I had the vegetable green curry, which was fragrant and full of different vegetables, and the garlic and black pepper chicken, which was juicy and delicious! The restaurant itself is lovely and spacious with a nice ambiance, and the staff were very attentive. Highly recommended if you are in Montrose!

This was our first trip to Ma Yom and we loved it. Delicious food. Very nice dining room, immaculately presented with fresh flowers on every table. Warm and inviting on a cold night. Friendly and very professional service. Couldn't fault it. Will be back!

Met up with friends (5 of us) for food in Montrose; not a very promising situation. Ma Yom was excellent. We were greeted at the door and ushered through to a really lovely dining room. Ordered wine while scanning the menu - the wine was good. People and food arrived and both were great. I had tempura prawns which were as good as I’ve had followed by Panang Thai Red chicken. Tremendous!! My wife had coconut soup and it was brilliant, sweet and spicy. Great night. I had 3 courses and I’ve forgotten how much wine but I thought £45 (which included a decent tip) per head was good value too. Will definitely go again.

Wow what a delicious meal! Had a fantastic night out with friends. Delicious food, can’t wait to go back. Cocktails were really good too. Staff all super helpful, friendly and efficient. Really impressed!

Went for a birthday. Place was nice and service reasonably good. Some of the younger staff seemed less aware of their own menu. Food wise starters were OK, we had mixed platter. I had the stir fry maim which was marked as spicy- very disappointing as it was bland. Lacked any kick. My partner had the red curry and it was a lot better. Overall place was ok, felt pricy for montrose (aberdeen prices ) if I had loved the food price would been less important

Service was really slow. It was a busy Saturday night, but we had to wait for cutlery after our food was delivered. We then waited 25 minutes for ice cream that was then delivered to the wrong table. After asking for the bill I noticed we were being charged for a drink we didn't have. Aside from the service, the food was average and came out warm, not hot. Won't be returning.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. The restaurant is inside the Hotel Carlton and one needs to walk around to the hotel entrance on the back of the building to enter it. It is at the top of a flight of stairs so not great for people with mobility issues. The staff was very friendly and the service excellent. The red Thai curry was outstanding while the ginger beef was lackluster, not having an abundance of flavor.

Hidden above an unprepossessing hotel entrance on the high street is this fantastic Thai restaurant. Delicious starters and mains, and nice strong cocktails! Friendly staff and stylish decor too. Would highly recommend.

We visited for the first time on Friday night. The place is bright and tastefully decorated - in a stark contrast to the old hotel and downstairs entrance. We were given a warm welcome on arrival. After being offered drinks, we ordered our meals. We shared the mixed platter to start. Delicious! Every bit … even the sauces. Next I had the red Thai curry, my husband had the garlic / chilli / basil with beef, and we shared noodles. Portions are generous, but not too much. We could not fault our meals - flavours, textures, smell … {chef’s kiss}. We had a rest before having the banana fritters - one with vanilla, the other with coconut ice cream. Divine!! Finally, we had a couple of cocktails - an espresso martini, and a French martini. Again, faultless! Proper cocktails. We look forward to our next visit.

Was expecting good things from this Thai but was left disappointed. Staff took so long to take our drinks order. No tofu!! Which I was find to be madness in a Thai restaurant. Vegetarian option was just veg and there was no way enough of it. Well well over priced. Staff were friendly though. Wouldn't return unfortunately

Today we celebrated our anniversary. We chosed this restaurant because we like thai food . To b honest we thought that it will be another Chinese fast food pretendent thai food . However, we were surprised. Food was made in traditional Thai style, and has not a bit of monosodium glutamate. So you can enjoy the natural taste. We definitely recommended .

We have been several times to Ma Yom Thai and everytime the food and service are excellent. Cocktails are definitely worth trying too.
