Royal Thai in Angus

For authentic Thai food this is unbeatable. Visited at the weekend, we thoroughly enjoyed our food and will be back. Highly recommended

First Time visiting the restaurant. Highly Recommend the Coconut Chicken Soup and Pad Thai. The Chef/Owner was very friendly and attentive. Hard working staff and a nice quaint environment. Very, very reasonable priced.

Decided to try this Thai restaurant in Arbroath. Front of house was run by some young people. They did spend quite a bit of time chatting between each other. Their focus wasn't really on the customer. There was also quite a bit of swearing going on by the male staff member. Also we could hear the Thai lady in the kitchen giving one of the staff members a telling off. The staff member then spent a while in the toilet. The food in general was tasty. When we were at the counter paying, we could see the cook eating from the serving spoon that was being used to serve up a customers meal. Not good.

Early evening meal. Lovely food. Good service. Had meals to share. Chicken and cashew nuts and also Red Thai curry. Really nice.

Amazing amazing amazing! We were on vacation and just stopped in Arbroath for the night and we were lucky to find this restaurant! It was 11pm already and we felt bad to drop in that late but she was so incredibly nice and immediately sat us down. She was very cute and went to cook for us and it was DELICIOUS. It was the best meal we’ve had so far in Scotland so I can definitely recommend going there! We’ve had a nice chat afterwards too so food and service and atmosphere 100/10.

I had pad Thai it was really good and my partner had the yellow curry she said “it was sublime”

As we were in Arbroath we went to the Royal Thai for an early dinner. We had the menu for 2: excellent, tasty, lovely presentation, fast service , welcome and lovely staff. We certainly will be back.

The red curry is beautiful. They're coconut rice is lovely too

Highly recommend Royal Thai. Our favourite local takeaway! We have had a few takeaways and the various dishes have all been delicious. Fresh ingredients, made to order. Couldn't fault any dishes!

Brucefield Boutique B&B: Absolute cheek: Smallest portions, more soup than food. Couldn't find many pieces of meat or shrimps. Potatoes have absolutely no place in Thai food. Can't recommend it to our guests under any circumstances. Will remove the business cards immediately.

The food was delicious! The lady we spoke to on the phone was very friendly and helpful. We are vegetarian and have food allergies and she was very thorough in checking which dishes were suitable for us. Highly recommend.

The food was amazing, the staff we so lovely, the restaurant was clean and very pretty. This is now my favourite place to eat!

First order from here tonight and food was delicious. Green curry was very tasty. Pad thai also delicious. Mixed starter platter was nice and good way to taste several items on the menu. If I had to nitpick, there were only 5 prawns in the Pad Thai which I thought was a bit stingey. But overall would definitely order again!

1st impressions are you are entering a authentic Thai restaurant the owner has put a lot of time and effort in producing a warm and welcoming restaurant. The food is outstanding and cooked by a Thai chef ,all our food was delicious and presented to a high standard ,our waitress was very welcoming and smiling to customers and happy to chat we are just passing through I wish we lived closer ,please support this restaurant it’s fabulous

Visited Arbroath from Glasgow and visited the Royal Thai. My husband and I had a fabulous meal there. The food is so fresh and the flavour amazing. Very friendly staff. Don't hesitate to try if you are in Arbroath. If I lived in Arbroath I would definitely be a regular.

Lovely meal in this restaurant (Saturday12/06/2021) ,food was cooked to perfection.Staff very nice and very efficient.Would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a special evening dining experience. Cant wait to go back again.

Having just come out of the difficulties of lockdown, we were determined to find a quality Thai restaurant. The Royal Thai was recommended to us and this was our first visit. We were not to be disappointed. The interior is beautifully presented and has a lovely ambience. Staff are so very pleasant and attentive. Food was absolutely delicious and wonderfully fresh. Our starters were tempura king prawns and Tom Yum soup. Both piping hot and tasty. Prawns were absolutely enormous. Main courses were equally scrumptious. As I said, this restaurant is a REAL find and we will definitely be back. If you’re looking for a quality Thai restaurant, come here. You WILL NOT be disappointed.

Got a take away from the Royal Thai tonight it was so good I only feel it’s fair to say. All food packaged well, hot and delicious, my boyfriend called up and asked about a spice level of a dish and the woman was happy to make it with less heat(medium) as he was unsure how hot was hot. I got the Thai green curry and it was just perfect. We also got sesame chicken toast to start which was again very tasty. Portion sizes were reasonable - will definitely be back. Only suggestion would be a take away menu that is slightly less money as it would seem you pay the same to sit in the restaurant as you do to eat at home.

We have sample a few Thai restaurants over the past couple of years and this is certainly up there with the best. While to restaurant was especially quiet for a Saturday (sign of the times sadly) we were greeted by a very friendly, helpful and informative host. The food was authentic yet reflective of local produce. I enjoyed sweet and sour haddock that was truly delicious. All in all a first class dinner, very well cooked and presented. Would certainly recommend this as will the many who bought take-aways while we enjoyed our meal.

Firstly, the Thai food is so reasonable here, it's really great to see they're not ripping people off as many places do. I loved our food. All piping hot after a 10 minute drive with complementary prawn crackers and rice included (most places I've found you order this separately). Staff very friendly too. If I could give constructive feedback it would be to sort out the takeaway ordering system for customers to pay when they order, not when they collect, it meant we were waiting to pay and our food was ready.

Great service ordered over the phone - the food arrived on time - the delivery driver was organised with social distance rules. The food was hot when it arrived - it was very tasty and would recommend.

We went for our Xmas dinner for something abit different and as usual it was EXCELLENT. Staff engage with customers professionally and the food is just Superb. We love going here regularly.

Visited on a Saturday around 5pm, one other couple in, Starters of pancake roll were ok. Main meal - 2 out of 4 meals were not what was ordered, ordered 2 weeping tiger steaks which should have been on a sizzling board, marinated in a sauce and served on a bed of vegetables, what we got was two ordinary steaks which was probably from European menu, very disappointing, no bed of vegetables. When it was pointed out that this was not what was ordered it we were told that was indeed what was asked for. It was edible but very poor compared to expectations. It could have been dealt with better, no apology, tried to blame us, then the young boy,

Fantastic. Coconut rice is just amazing. My husband and I ordered two curries, rice, noodles and tempura prawns. £26 pounds which is very reasonable for the great quality provided. We will be going back. Staff pleasant, beautiful food.

Excellent food and service all round.Ate every morsal.We were visiting so could not sample the entire menu. However every dish we had was excellent, as described. We were in Arbroath for a week but did eat here 3 times,It was very much worth it. Parking close to the restuarant was easy as well.

Lovely restaurant with friendly staff and good food. If you want something more authentic just ask the staff and they are happy to adjust the food to be spicier etc. Really liked the decor of the restaurant.

Had a nice meal here last night with my family. We had the sharing mixed platter and various curries, all of which were outstanding. We were served by friendly and attentive staff.

A hidden gem on the west port! Just sat down to an amazing meal here, food was excellent and we couldn't fault it. Service was quick and attentive. If you like thai food you wont be disappointed. We had a sit down meal this time but will definetly be back even for takeaway.

Really good menu and quality of food. Unusual for a small restaurant to have craft beer on tap so a bonus for me. Never too busy so likely to always get a table.

Have visited several times with family members (midweek and weekends) and thoroughly enjoyed our food on each occasion. The menu offers an extensive choice of both starters and main courses and many are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. As a family we all have our own personal favourites - mine was the Thai Pineapple curry with Coconut Rice. We couldn't fault the service either - it was friendly and we didn't have too long to wait on our meal. Excellent all round. They also do takeaways if you prefer to eat in!

We visited the restaurant on a Thursday evening. It was not too busy (we were the first table in) but it was steady after this. We were very welcomed when we arrived at the restaurant. The service throughout the meal was excellent. The menus had a good amount of choices and the food was delicious. As the curries were served on hot plates with the rice separate, we are thinking of ordering different dishes to share (buffet style!) next time.

We last went for a meal the day after Valentine's day but have been before this also. It's consistently great thai food, I want to go now just thinking about it. I love Thailand and the wonderful street food and this restaurant offers the next best thing. Also has the best craft beer in town.

Food is excellent, we usually takeaway but have sat in a few times and could not fault it one bit. Red Curry was and is always my favourite.

No im sorry..the food we did get was mostly good but too many problems and delays including serving chicken to a pescaterian then taking chicken out and replacing with prawns but not doing a through job and left bits of the meat in there. That was the mostly worrying thing because what if the person had an allergy? It could be a really good resturant but it needs to address its issues..maybe get more staff to ensure things run smoothly.

With a quick parent free time with da feeling you need tae escape while you can, we decided tae come here. We've never been afore and honestly it's da first time I had heard aboot Royal Thai. We are so glad we did come here. Dishes are so delicious! We both had a shared appetiser, my main dish was yellow king prawn curry wi noodles and hubby had red beef curry wi coconut rice. Hubby could'na stop bragging aboot how delicious coconut rice was. My dish was delicious too, I could have easily had double. We got a nice sized serving which didn't make you feel horrible full up wye. Highly recommended and we will definitely definitely will be back.
