Amazing Authentic Thai Food Recommend The Crispy Wontons

Great food, lovely staff. Only a short menu but that meant that the food was fresh cooked and really tasty. A good find.

Just had one of the tastiest Thai meals. Fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly. We had Pad Thai, accompanied by drinks from the bar. Hoping to return next time we're near!

Really impressed with this place, serving very authentic Thai food. Fragrant, fresh and generous. We've been looking for decent Thai food in the area and this stands out. Super flavoursome and not skimping on any ingredient. The sweet & sour was traditionally made, which is just sooo much nicer. Pad thai was moist and very good and the green curry was yummy. This is home cooking with love and skill. Oh, even the fried rice was worth mentioning. We had a takeaway but the place was cosy too, so will be 'sitting down' there soon too :)

Delicious authentic Thai food, very reasonably priced and cooked to order by a friendly, welcoming Thai chef who will vary the 'spiciness' of each dish according to your taste. Enter this cosy 'home cafe' via the lounge bar of The Travellers and pick up your drinks as you pass through.

Great little place, service a bit slow, only because of its own success. A wow of a place for an intimate meal with friends. Food cooked for your own spice rating., 😋😁

A hidden gem in Darlington! If you love fresh, tasty food this is the place! The mango sticky rice is a must absolutely gorgeous!!

Generous portions, tasty Thai takeaway - It’s takeaway only now. We rang up to order and got a pick up slot in 30 mins time. I’ve attached a photo of the pick up spot through the window of the pub as we missed this going past the first time and there isn’t an easy spot to park next to it. Green chicken curry had lots of nice veg in it, and the pad Thais were nice too. Not the best Thai I’ve ever had, but it hit the spot after a long journey and certainly good value for money. Very friendly and organised owner - thank you!

Beautiful flavours you just can’t get anywhere else. Lovely friendly service and certainly a hidden gem. The menu offers such an authentic taste of Thailand. I will be back soon.

Absolutely loved this little quirky place. We didn’t even know it existed. Food was delightful and the lady who I believe to be the owner was very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be going back and I’m sure my partner will be asking for “Crazy hot” again xx

We love this place! The meals are always cooked beautifully and are full of flavour. Eating in the cafe is also a pleasure - really friendly service and a cosy atmosphere. One of Darlington’s best kept secrets!

Usually have a take away from here a couple of Fridays each month and the constantly good standard of food is amazing. The green curry is to die for but I was introduced to the jungle curry by the owner and now would have either as both superb. We have Sunday lunches here when I can’t be bothered to cook and they are out of this world too. Highly recommended, either sit in or takeaway the food is superb.

Food is always cooked while you are waiting, so very fresh and hot.small seating area so very cosy. Owner always cheerful and will give advice on the menu. You can also order a take away meal.

Visited here with my wife (also thai), the food was absolutely excellent and service very good. It's a small restaurant of around 7 tables, on the left in the entrance of the Travellers Rest pub. The menu is available on FB if you want to see the selection of dishes before you go or order a takeaway instead and is very reasonably priced, drinks are available from the bar of the pub just fetch them yourself from across the hall.Excellent food, we will be back on our next trip to my home town.

A small unpretentious little Thai restaurant. One lady chef producing everything fresh in authentic Thai style. Very low key, you feel like you are sitting in her kitchen. Everything is cooked to your spice taste and is lovely. She has no drinks licence so you have to go over to the Travellers Rest bar for your drunks. They are perfectly adequate and cheap. Highly recommended - perhaps not as we don’t want it to get too busy.

Second visit, took the kids this time. Welcoming, Good service and Excellent Food. All freshly cooked to order. You can't really say anything else but Superb !!

Booked here for my husbands birthday, on recommendation from family, lovely food and friendly service, if you haven’t tried it I would definitely recommend a visit.

Came back here in force - 9 of us for a meal. It was quite a mixed bunch, including some who do not like spicy food! But they were served some "toned down" ones and they enjoyed them. I tried the jungle curry, which was spot on. Everyone loved their food. Thanks Rattana for another lovely night, don't know how you mange to take orders, cook and serve all on your own, but I still wish you'd play some Thai music rather than the radio!

3 of us ate here on a saturday evening ....and cant wait to go back.Try the shrimp cakes for a starter , they are almost a meal in themselves !For a main meal we had a chicken curry dish , beef with ginger and beef with black bean and peppers . All were excellent and extremely good value.

I've been lucky enough to eat here several times now. I'm not sure how the owner, Rattana, does it but she takes the orders, cooks it and waits on tables - she does the lot with a smile. She is obviously passionate about what she does. I've eaten in and tried take a ways. All have been excellent. The cafe is a great size. To get to it go through the Travelers pub entrance and its just on the left. As Rattana does everything she can alter how "spicy " your food is. Try it medium and if it's not hot enough go for spicy next time - easy. The Phad Thai and the Panang curry are the best I've had anywhere. Go book a table - Rattana loves to hear what people think of her food. I think it's excellent.

Ate here Saturday night. Food was so tasty, couldn't fault it. Special mention to the Coconut Ice Cream with Sticky Rice. As a pudding lover, this was right up there. Delicious. The owner seemed to be a one man band, and coped brilliantly. Will definitely be back.

Had Sunday lunch here last week and have to say it’s probably the best in Darlington. I had beef which was superb, all fresh veg, great yorkies and proper gravy. Portions are small or large. Cannot fault, highly recommended!

Had Sunday lunch today - mix of chicken beef and pork. Was absolutely delicious- so many fresh veg, mash, roasties and a Yorkshire pud and really tasty gravy - I would highly recommend and will definitely be going back

Wow. I booked a table for 4 on a Friday night for myself, husband and parents. All of us have been votes to Thailand and love the food. With Royal Thai opposite the hippodrome having changed hands so much I was intrigued by the great reviews of The Andaman Home Cafe.This place deserves to be bursting at the seams. It is fabulous food, served in an utterly charming manner by the friendliest and most talented hostess.First the Cafe is in a side room off the Travellers Rest - I hadn’t been in before but it was a warm and welcoming venue for a pre dinner drink.Adjourning to the Cafe itself, we were the only diners but there was still a charming comfortable atmosphere with the music in the background and our hostess being on hand Being 4 of us we actually ordered all 5 starters to share - they were beautiful. The soup was amazing - everyone could order the same choice but of different heat intensity - perfect. I was beaten after this as the portion was huge but the others masterfully carried on.Again mains were individually tailored both in terms of heat and meat/fish/veg choices The pad Thai was lovelyThe two boys managed dessert and - sneaking a spoonful - they were both amazing - coconut ice cream and sticky rice with mango - do try to save space they were brilliantThe bill for 4 came to £78 - now THAT was agreed as real value for money for such an unexpectedly lovely night out.If you like Thai or just want to give it a try - go here. We have had a few takeaway meals from here, a sit down meal for the two of us and they were excellent.We invited the in laws down from seaham, who are regulars at the star of Siam in houghton le spring. The host is so welcoming, and cooks your dishes to your desired level of spice.We ordered an array of different starters which were all beautiful. In particular the fish cakes were the best I’ve had.The curries went down a storm with the in laws. Even our 10 year old daughter is now a Thai food convert and wants to go back for her birthday at the end of the month.A very relaxing atmosphere with dynamite food.Can’t wait to go back soon

Food was lovely, the owner could not have done more to make us feel welcome, the food was beautifully presented and tasted every bit as good as it looked. It was really, really good and I will definitely go back.

By far the best Thai food in the area, such a niche little place with a great menu. The lady was very hospitable, friendly and she’s an excellent chef. The pad thai was one of my favourite to date, and the Penang curry was also so good and spicy. Would highly recommend trying the deserts too - especially the coconut ice cream with sticky rice. It would be nice if the pub next door could get some Thai beer in to compliment the meal even further.

My sister had takeaway and loved it so five of us went last night and I can recommend it very highly. The owner/ chef was so friendly- she explained the dishes to us and adjusted the meals to our personal preference. We had starters of shrimp cakes, crispy wonton and chicken satay- all were yummy. Two had mains of chicken and cashew, one jungle curry, one phad Thai and a king prawn red curry. All were amazing. My partner works in catering and is usually critical but he loved his jungle curry. Would definitely recommend you visit this little gem

Our first visit to Andaman cafe, the food was superb, very reasonably priced and we will definitely return. Truly admire the entrepreneurial young lady who owns this cafe, she shops for the produce, prepares the food, cooks it to order and serves it all on her own, a delightfull lady and great host.

Food out of this world would highly recommend,we really enjoyed it and it was cooked to perfection yummy!

Had a great meal here recently. Amazing how the owner - sorry didn't get your name! Was very the cook, waiter and pot washer. She did a good job of doing everything. There are only about six tables here, so the setting is still intimate and just right. My wife's a veggie and was a bit concerned if there would be enough choice for her, but there was plenty of choice, basically most options could be made into a veggie dish. I had the green curry with chicken and sticky rice. It was tasty, creamy and just the right heat for me. My wife had tofu massaman which was nice and mild for her. I also recommend that you try the Thai style ice cream which was very good. Going back soon to try some more dishes! You can still get your drinks next door and bring them through to your table.

Went here with friends a couple of weeks ago, food was delicious, spice / heat served according to taste.The owner is extremely friendly and welcoming. I was told that you can also order food to collect to take away.I really hope this little place does well , will definitely be returning.

Ate here recently and have to say that the food was simply superb, freshly cooked with heat to suit individual requirements. I had Chicken Green Curry and was one of the best I’ve had and that includes having eaten in Thailand. The lady running things is so friendly and helpful with selection and makes eating here a special experience. Highly recommended!!
