Opted to sit in the lounge over the restaurant because of the decor. The bar area carries a nice vibe and chill music. As soon as you’re seated, you’re told about a minimum spend of £25. Not a big deal, because of the prices. Initial service started slow, but once I was able to order, things moved fairly well. Food was very good. Drinks were nice and came out at a decent pace. The oysters as a starter were fresh. Baby chicken for the main was a little undercooked, but I think mostly done. Tarte Tatin was smaller than used to for the price, but still tasty. As each course hit the table, a man I assume was the manager, stopped by shortly after to see how things were. A nice touch as makes you feel they care about quality control. Would def go back, and I recommend it to all whether for drinks or a posh meal.

My husband and I visited for Festive afternoon tea. The sandwiches are always really fresh and they don't skimp on the contents. The cakes were lovely and in keeping with Christmas designs. The tea is never very strong here, no matter how long you seem to let it brew. Its the only thing that lets them down but wouldn't stop me coming back again. The service is always great and the hotel was decorated beautifully for Christmas.

Visited the lounge for a coffee in the afternoon. Was only greeted by the doorman and nobody else until i sat myself down at a table in the amaranto lounge. After 20min the bored and rushed waiter come by with a cocktail menu and no coffee or tea options. Another 10minutes later he bothers to take my order and follows to throw some stale cookies ont he table. Terrible. Best avoided. Four seasons service was absent!

We had walked past, and then through the Four Seasons in Mayfair, but this April trip, was the first time that we actually stopped in, on another leg of our afternoon “Champagne Quest.” We crossed the lovely lobby, for Amaranto Lounge, and were promptly seated in the middle of the room, close to the gorgeous bar. Immediately, we had the wine list, and I began pouring over it. Finally, I decided that we would start with: Ruinart Blanc de Blanc NV And here, I went off-script a bit, with the Fratelli Lunelli Ferrari Perlé Trento Metodo Classico 2010, from the Trentino-Alto Adige Both were lovely sparklers, and the stemware was elegant! Our service was excellent, in every respect, and we lingered over our sparkling wine, just taking in the beauty of the room. Why had we never stopped into this lounge before? The décor is, well, in a word – red! However, as bright and vibrant as the colors were, it all fit together, in a lovely way. I spent much of my time, gazing at the wine storage display walls, and the lovely room. As one enters the lobby, Amaranto is immediately to the left, and it appears that some times, the crowd might spill out into the lobby, as evidenced by a grand piano, near the entrance. I observed an al fresco area, but did not explore it from within the lounge, itself. Judging by the location, I would think that one would have a nice view of Park Lane, and Hyde Park, from those outside tables. Service was extremely friendly, and highly efficient. As the Ferrair Perlé was new to me, I was impressed that our server knew it so well, but then he was Italian, and showed a natural pride in explaining this wine to me, in detail. As I always appreciate a wine “chalk talk,” I took it all in – just as I did with this wine, plus my wife’s Blanc de Blanc. In all, a wonderful stop, in a very elegant, but relaxing venue, with great service, and a fun wine list. What more could one ask for? As we always have stayed in Mayfair, we will be back. Amaranto Lounge has now been added to our “Champagne Trail.”

We ended up in the Amaranto Lounge at the Four Seasons for a High Tea just before catching our plane home on a Sunday after a long weekend in London. The Four Seasons is always a very good choice but this High Tea really blew us of our feed. They teamed up with the Chelsea Garden in London; using all kind of herbs an honey from that garden. We loved the dedication of the staff. The sandwiches and scones were amazing. The live piano music gave it an unique twist. We stayed much longer then intended and catching the plane became a real challenge!

Summer in England celebrates a wide variety of social events, such as Wimbledon and the Chelsea Flower Show. You can bet that at all of these events, the finest in afternoon tea is being enjoyed. During my stay in London the past summer, I had to go the Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane for their Journey Through British Summertime afternoon tea service in order to commemorate the best that the British summertime has to offer. My best friend and I decided to share the experience together, and I’ve never been happier for tea! My friend enjoyed the maldon cured smoked salmon with sweet English pea sandwich, which was served on a fresh granary bread. The sandwiches were beautifully presented, with the vibrant colors of the local ingredients representing the English summer. As my favorite, I chose the cheese ploughman’s Hafod mature cheddar sandwich with pickle, which was served on the same granary bread as my company’s delicacy. Both of us chose to add a glass of Veuve Clicquot Brut N.V. champagne to our afternoon tea, which I think really amplified the flavors of the pastries and sandwiches. We both enjoyed the warm plain scones, served with jam and clotted cream, while I particularly fell for the strawberry and cream sponge with rose champagne. Decadent. The rose and lemon Battenberg, was a light and refreshing bite, while the Kona coffee, chocolate mousse and hibiscus jelly hat had to be my absolute favorite part of the entire tea. After enjoying the journey through food and making the connections of the British summer to the food being served, we sipped a full-bodied Darjeeling Second Flush tea, which was as aromatic and flavorful as expected. The entire tea service was great! I only wish I was still in London now to experience their wintertime offering.

The sandwich offerings were great, the cakes divine and the scones delicious! They also had a dedicated vegetarian afternoon tea menu which as an avid afternoon tea goer, I had not come across before but it proved to be absolutely perfect for one of our vegetarian guests. My Seven friends and I chose here for our annual Afternoon Tea in London. We arrived early and were shown into the bar area. Here we enjoyed a cocktail. At tea time we moved to the lounge and enjoyed a superb tea with a pianist playing Christmas carols ( amongst other songs) in the background. The sandwiches and cakes arrived on a stand ( one stand between two) and the waiter talked us through them, explaining that he would refill the sandwiches as much as we wished. The scones were brought out afterwards as they were freshly cooked. It's was no bother exchanging some crab sandwiches for something else for someone who disliked sea food. It was impossible to eat all of the delicious food and the waiter was happy to package up the remaining scones and cakes so we could bring them home. The service was outstanding and I would recommend here to anyone who loves Afternoon tea --- and cocktails!

As a larger party with children we were sensibly sat in the lounge area outside the restaurant which was great especially with the excellent pianist. The staff, on the whole were efficient, helpful and friendly. Overall we enjoyed the tea as a family event and "ate our fill"!However there are a few issues which sets the meal apart from some other hotels - but pnot in the right direction. The ham in the sandwiches was similar to that found in the Tesco value thin sliced ham packs. The strawberry jam was, I suspect, from a tin of catering jam, rather than Tiptree or similar. The teas came in splendid tea pots with loose tea and identification labels, but no milk or lemon. The scones were small but warm, but we had to ask for them, difficult to judge when as we were eating at different speeds. The cakes were very pretty, and light but with little flavour and the trifle was solid. I am not sure that these issues spoilt the experience but given the cost of the tea, especially if having the champagne ( only one glass? Given the high price) the hotel needs to get its offer right. On a positive final note we were given the remaining uneaten cakes in a very smart box to take away.

My friend and I visited for afternoon tea on Sunday and as we arrived a little early and our table wasn't ready we were shown to the bar where there was an extensive cocktail menu!! There were so many delicious sounding cocktails that it was hard to choose, but choose we did and both of us were more than happy with our drinks!! Our table was ready so we were shown through to our table. The gentleman who was serving us was very welcoming and friendly and was very accommodating when we asked to swap a sandwich flavour or two. All the sandwiches were delicious, as were the beautiful mini scones with the jam, curd and clotted cream!! We ate so many lovely sandwiches and scones that we couldn't manage all of our cakes, so these were kindly put into bags for us to take away. We then retreated back to the bar to try out a few more of the tempting cocktails...all of which were scrumptious!! I went for the Italian tea menu, which was delicious with fritto misto, focaccia with cheese and some beautiful cakes. I went with several friends so we were able to mix the teas. Terrible experience for afternoon tea. Arrived at 4pm with party of 2 children and 3 adults. Waiter gave menu and ignored us for 20 minutes. When he came back I asked to see the childrens menu. He took some persuading but again disappeared. 15 minutes later he was back but had forgotten to bring the kids menu. Forty minutes after arriving he took order but without writing it down kept playing back the wrong order. Looked annoyed when I insisted he write it down. One hour later the order turns up and yes the wrong teas had been delivered! Another 15 minute wait to get the right teas. This time no tea strainers provided. Worse still milk tasted off! By this time we were all very annoyed and it was 5.30pm. Tea pots were'nt marked so we could'nt tell which tea pot was which and they were placed behind our sofas and not beside us.Complained to the manager - didn't look very bothered but offered to give us extra sandwiches and change the waiter but the experience was already ruined. Had the cheek to ask for 15% service charge with the bill! Not an experience we associate with a four seasons - better service in your local park café. All the staff had an aloof slightly arrogant air even with the children which is not welcome. Will not return.

My friend booked us in as a surprise treat and what a treat it was!The restaurant was gorgeous with lovely lighting and felt very plush but relaxing. Our coats were taken, we weren't rushed and felt very well looked after. There are a couple of different options for afternoon tea and I believe this is the only place in London that offers a vegetarian afternoon tea menu.We both opted for this as it was only the sandwiches that differed between this and the English afternoon tea.The crockery was all Wedgwood and there was even a tea brewing timer. The food itself was gorgeous and you do get a lot for your money (£34) - finger sandwiches with an array of fillings and breads, mini scones with clotted cream, jam and strangely chocolate sauce/spread and 5 different desserts.Everything was presented beautifully and tasted divine. We even had a hot water refill in our pots when we drank them dry. When we couldn't eat any more they offered to put the left overs in a box for us to take away.A wonderful experience but my one gripe was that a 15% service charge was added that we were unaware of at the time of booking so it really cost £40 each. The service was very good but I prefer to be able to tip if and how I would like rather than being forced into it as a surprise!

We had High Tea in the Amaranto Lounge in late November. It wasn’t bad, it was just off and definitely not something I would do again. First, this is a wildly expensive High Tea – somewhere in the 50 pounds/ per person vicinity. All of the cakes and little sandwiches were very good as was the Champagne and tea selections -- and there were a lot of each -- however something was lacking. Was it the couple and their financial planner in the corner talking too loudly about their income (I now know how much they make, where they send their kids to school and what he thinks he needs to retire on)? Was it the fact that we were in a lounge rather than a tea room? Was it the heat of the building? I don’t know, it just was off. Everyone was perfectly nice, but somehow it lacked the elegance and sophistication that I think I was looking for and willing to pay for. Spending time and money here is the one thing I regret about my trip.

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner at this beautiful restaurant and we were really looked after, we had the set menu which was an amazing price and we treated ourselves to a few cocktails! I wasn't sure about the dessert for me which was fruit and coffee where you pour over the coffee, my husband loved it so it's probably just a like dislike thing and personal taste! We would definitely come again!

Uninspiring meal at amaranto in a fabulous decor. Dinner at this lavishly decorated restaurant at the ultra chic Four Seasons started well but ultimately was disappointing. Once seated and orders taken by efficient wait staff bread and a complimentary amuse bouche arrived. The amuse bouche of cauliflower puree was the best item served. The octopus starter was nothing more than 4 - 5 slivers of semi chewy octopus on a bed of pureed potatoes. The bland risotto with shrimp entree at a cost of £ 21 was a few spoons of rice with approx 2 medium shrimp cut into thin slices. A colossal disappointment. The Hake entree was a reasonable size portion of well prepared fresh fish but lacking in any real flavor. The service was very attentive and gracious as you would expect at Four Seasons and fortunately the hotel is surrounded but really good restaurants.

We had not been to the Four Seasons since its closure for refurbishment and were very much looking forward to enjoying our return visit. We had previously enjoyed visits to the first floor bar, with its excellent service, and some delightful and remarkably good value lunches, again in the spacious and beautifully decorated first floor restaurant. The refurbishment has removed the first floor bar and dining areas and, with it, the rather grand double staircase, but I can quite understand the desire to make better use of the building. The waiting staff looked after us well and, on balance, we think that they seated us in the open area as being a nicer space with greater height. We were invited to have a look round afterwards and we did - pleasant, but sadly hardly worth making another visit. The choice of teas was good and delicious, but the sandwiches and cakes poor. We opted for a glass of rose (sorry no acute accent to hand) and so tea for two amounted to £117.30 including the 15% service charge. We were well looked after, but I was reluctant, and I speak as a tipper, to add any more. I can only hope that the Four Seasons does pay its staff adequately - actually more than adequately, judging by the way that they had to run round some of the other guests. All in all a disappointment, and an expensive one at that. We will continue to visit other Four Seasons sites, but there is a lot of competition for afternoon tea in London - much of it better quality and better value.

I had high expectations for afternoon tea at the Four Seasons London, afterall, I thoroughly enjoyed the many afternoon teas at its counterpart in Dublin, but alas, there is plenty of room for improvement when compared with its Irish sister. Having said that, I frequented this establishment twice, in the hope that my first visit was just a "bad hair day".The ambience failed to excite - in some ways, we felt we were sitting in the lobby and felt very exposed to people walking about the hotel (although there were seatings deeper in, which we had the second time round). Had they designed their lounge to be more warm and inviting, rather than clean cut business meeting like sort of place, I might push my overall rating higher. The saving grace of the ambience was the excellent and friend pianist.Service was average to good and perhaps a little slow (improved the second visit, although still hard to get staff attention). The table setting was very good and the staff were generally friendly. I had the traditional afternoon tea - and while not superb (for its price, comes expectations) was still enjoyable. The sandwiches were well presented - roast beef, cream cheese, coronation chicken, salmon and asparagus and cucumber. All were well flavoured - although my friend was unimpressed with their non-freshly made mayonnaise, we agreed that this was good for the pregnant ladies who cannot have raw eggs and was definitely acceptable. The mini scones were unremarkable but acceptable. The second visit, I was very surprise to find a different variety of "healthy" scones. However, personally, I felt that they should have included classics into their variety. e.g. Plain, Fruit & "Special of the day"Patisseries were also different on both visits, so draw of the luck really (we enjoyed the first visit's patisseries better than the second). They were generally well presented and delicate. While we were please to know that the pastry chef was adventurous, we didn't think that the second visit's patisseries were very good - funky carrot cakes and dodgy green apple marshmellowy thing. The first visit had lemon meringue tart, panna cotta, chocolate hazelnut eclair. All in all, I would go back - but only after trying a few other places. It isn't superb but it ain't bad - a high average to good - but saying VERY good would be a push.I also like the option that it wasn't by per head but by what was ordered, and was also not set a time to finish by.

The lounge is really more like a modern art gallery with a lounge inside. The art on the wall is really beautiful and the piano playing in the background make for a refined setting for a pre dinner setting that will please anyone. The selection of champagnes, scotches and gins is all top shelf and the preparation will bring a smile to your face. So sit back and give your body a rest before you are off for a fine dinner or a show. You will leave there refreshed and energized. If you are staying there, see if the house car is available for arriving in style to your next destination.

The restaurant is not helped by the fact that the Four Seasons Hotel itself has very little going for it other than location in the business district. The restaurant staff all seemed new and uninformed. The lunch menu was very limited and the portion sizes were underwelming for the price.

As an annual treat, I take my family for afternoon tea to a different venue each year. This year, I chose Amaranto at the Four Seasons. I opted for the Italian tea whilst the rest of the family had the traditional afternoon tea. Italian panettone was the equivalent to the scones, delicate cream cakes and lovely fresh sandwiches. Really friendly staff and great service. All accompanied by a tinkling piano. Lovely!!

We visited this restaurant for a High Tea which was a gift bought by my girlfriend for my birthday. On arrival we were greeted by 2 lovely receptionists who showed us through to the lounge and welcomed us as it was our first visit to The Four Seasons. We were then shown to our table which had been reserved for us. Coats were taken and we were seated and given a menu. Then the waiter described the many options available to us. We made our choices and were brought our high tea and the waiter took the time to talk us through the sandwiches and the cakes which were in front of us. We then tucked into the tea sandwiches were lovely and when finished we were offered some more which i gladly accepted. Then moving onto the cakes that were lovely and plentiful beginning to feel satisfyingly full we still had the scones to come. All in all it was a lovely experience which i wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone. Service and food second to none!

Tiny room, no refrigerator If it were Spain, it would be a maximum of 3 stars.
