Always Cake in Ribble Valley

If you're a member of a walking group, or just out walking in the vicinity of Hurst Green or Stoneyhurst College, this place is a gem of a find just minutes away at the Gardens at Stydd. They provide super coffee and cakes, plus more if you wish, in comfortable, warm surroundings. The staff are very friendly and super efficient and it was an absolute pleasure to find it. (The Victoria Sponge was in my top three Victoria Sponges, and believe you me, I've eaten many over the years!) I could not recommend this establishment highly enough and will definitely come here again.

Came to Stydd Gardens today and this was the only place open! It's a little gem though, shabby chic with good coffee and a lovely cake selection.

Greeted nicely at this hidden little gem first impressions were excellent , we were greeted very nicely and shown to a table and orders taken. Although we didn’t have anything from the menu, which in fairness had a lot of choice, we just had coffee and cake. The scone was amazing and very fresh, coffee was better than most i have tried around the area and reasonably priced. I’ll certainly be back to try the breakfast.

Visit Always Cake every Sunday after church with between 6 to 10 friends and look forward to it. I have also visited a few times with my lady friend who likes it very much Staff are welcoming and very friendly. The food is first class and the home made pies quiche and cakes are delicious. There are veg alternatives on the savoury side and deicious soups but the cakes are very tempting Brian. E

Have called in here since it opens, and it's never disappointed as there's always a friendly welcome and a good selection of sandwiches and cakes. The breakfasts are excellent too. Particularly love the home made teabread. Beautiful to sit outside on a good day overlooking the gardens. A little gem of a place with the personal touch.

Lovely welcome (after we high tailed it out of the Glass House upon discovering the Michelin-level prices for cafe food - a tuna toastie was £15 for instance!!) Accommodated a vegan, a veggie, a pescatarian and a new born in a party of six. We had cakes, lattes, soups, ciabattas, salads and samdwoches. All freshly made and in a warm, pretty environment. Did some Christmas decoration shopping on site too. The bill for lunch for six wasn't the equivalent of my mortgage payment. My nephew, a brownie connoisseur of 1 years experience, says the bag of brownie bites he took as a carry out are the best brownies he's ever had. My blackberry crumble cake (vegan friendly) was really noteworthy too (properly fruity not just sugary) Will definitely be back.

Visited this lovely hidden gem today for lunch with my friend . We had a Prawn Sandwich and a Brie/Bacon Ciabatti top quality ! We then followed by coffee and the most delicious homemade cakes and all served by the most lovely staff who were so efficient and friendly . Look forward to visiting again soon .

I had lunch here today with a friend. The food was well presented delicious. Good value for money too. The staff were friendly and made our lunch very special. No room for cake but brought some home. Already booked a table to take more friends.

Our first time here yesterday. Sat down and weren't brought any menus - had to go and get them ourselves. Not a lot of choice on the menu, but we both managed to find something. Nobody came to take our order so I thought maybe I had to go to the counter to order. Once I did this, I was told that someone would come to the table to take our order. Quite a long wait for the food after we had ordered and then had to ask for cutlery as we weren't brought any. However, once it arrived, the food was very good. The ciabattas were delicious and I loved the fact that the salad dressing and the coleslaw were in separate containers and weren't just put on top of the salad. Overall a good lunch but staff need to be a bit more on the ball!

A little treasure of a place. We were quite rudely turned away from the cafe at Stydd Gardens but instead we found this lovely little cafe with lots of delights. Tasty cakes, light bites, all fresh and delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely call in again!

We enjoyed a capaccino plus cake (grandads spice cake with butter + a chocolate brownie). The capaccino was piping hot and the cakes were delicious. The garden setting was also very beautiful: a pleasant where to while away an hour or two.

The cafe is newly opened and the produce is sourced from local suppliers, the cakes are actually made on the premises and look very good indeed. I had a bacon and sausage sandwich and it was well cooked and very tasty. Well worth a visit
