Went for breakfast & the place was pretty quiet. Disappointed with portion size. Ordered 2 x breakfast & 2 x cup of teas which came to £25.75. Gave feedback to member of staff & they were not interested. Won’t be back.

Had a fantastic afternoon tea with the Gosport Leisure Centre in the Function Room yesterday afternoon (29th March 2024) Everything homemade, the scones I have never seen such large ones they were delicious. The savouries sausage rolls, bitesize quiches etc. I could go on and on. Great value for money, well done everybody who was involved organising the splendid food for us, definitely recommend to anyone.

I booked afternoon tea, after a recommendation. There was 20 of us, with some different dietary needs. The service was outstanding, the food was outstanding. We had the function room and this was lovely. The staff kept checking everything was OK, refilling the coffee and tea station. Did not rush us.. Cannot recommend this enough, you will not be disappointed..

Lovely centre , but very inconsistent with food service. With of us ordered the same meal, jacket potato with curry. When they were brought out my plate had at least double the amount of salad on and my partner had much more chicken in his curry than I had. Two plates coming out atvthe same time should look the same, also saw a lady behind me in the queue ask for roast dinner, the food she was given didn't even cover the bottom of her plate, one tiny piece of beef and spare veg. She handed the plate back saying she wasn't paying almost £15 for that. Staff need to be more consistent with amounts put on plates. There were also no knives and no water glasses. Had to wait over 10 minutes after asking. It is however a lovely lovely garden centre and we have been many times to visit.

Very poor. Asked for just vegetables charged £2.95 per portion so £8.85 for 3 roast potatoes a spoonful of cauliflower cheese and a spoonful of cabbage. It was lukewarm and staff just said we could have ordered the full meal and got the veg with it.

The restaurant staff are absolutely brilliant. I am gluten free now and wanted to know if the mushroom stroganoff was gluten free. Unfortunately it wasn't, but the chef on duty said he would prepare me one from scratch. It was absolutely delicious 😋. We were speaking to Niamh and she said that she will suggest that all sauces are made with cornflour now so it will expand their gluten free range.

I feel compelled to complain bitterly if vegans are not catered for properly. But I can hardly knock this place. I had a pasty, some veg and a piece of vegan cake. Absolutely delicious. My parents had hot vegetarian meals. Also good quality. Staff were friendly and it was clean and nice. Yep, heading there again. OK here is the nip pick. Please don't put palm oil in vegan food. It matters! But other than that this place should be proud of its vegan line up. Gluten free diners well catered for as well.

A fantastic afternoon tea, a great selection of high quality sandwiches, savoury bites, cake and scones. There is a choice of afternoon tea, traditional, sweet, savoury and currently festive. One of the best afternoon teas in the area. Excellent value for money. The staff are great , very helpful, friendly and deliver an excellent standard of service. Definitely worth a visit to this restaurant at the Alver Valley Garden Centre.

Sorry this review is late but can I say we stopped off to watch the play off final( national league England) and we were made to feel so welcome by the lad behind the bar whose name I'm embarrassed to say I cant remember. I must say the locals on the day were fabulous and were fellow Poolies by the end! As far as the place itself it's a proper pub, clean ,good beer good craic and very very freindly atmosphere if ever we go back over that way it will definitely be a place to visit

This is a modern styled café with an attractive view over the River Nith and Criffel, about 5 miles outside Dumfries. Getting to the location can involve a pleasant rural/coastal circular drive taking in attractions at Caerlaverock Castle and the wildfowl Nature Reserve. There is a free to use public car park at the site. On a solo visit in September 2024 I dropped in without pre-booking and managed to get a table despite the fact the place was quite busy. There was a quirky choice of snacks on the menu, as previously experienced, and on this occasion I had the Huevos Barqueros (£9.95) which was toasted sourdough topped with crushed avocado, (mild) Harissa, rocket lettuce, creamy feta cheese and a poached egg. The flavours were good and the overall snack was tasty however the poached egg was barely warm and the overall portion was not large. On that occasion there was a limited choice of cakes on display however I had a piece of roulade with a meringue outer edge and Black Forest filling. This slightly different treat was filling and tasted good. By the time I had added a fruity flavored low alcohol IPA to accompany the lunch my bill came to just over £20 which I thought was okay. Service was pleasant and the timing of delivery good. I followed up the visit a month later with a reservation to meet up with a couple of relatives for lunch. They were delayed about 30 minutes en route and whilst I had a coffee and admired the view, staff were understanding and there was no pressure on me to give up the table which was appreciated. Once my relatives arrived, we had a pleasant tasting lunch which was able to satisfy my relatives particular dietary requirements in a relaxed atmosphere. On both visits I noticed that the menu was a bit dog-eared and grubby looking and could probably have been better protected by being laminated or inside a plastic covering. The toilets in contrast are very well maintained! There is a small shop on the site selling a limited number of products.
