We visited midweek the course having been recommended to us and we travelled from West London to play it. Don't be put off by the fact that it is a 9 hole course with two sets of tees or the fact that it is a Par 68. We enjoyed the experience of playing this well maintained but 'tight' course. Clubhouse staff are few in number but provide an excellent level of service and we recommend the bacon baps - lovely.

Recently become a member after some really pleasant rounds there. Lovely course & the 18 they have done a good mix with what they have. Clubhouse very friendly. Sadly broke my leg weeks after joining, that being said they were incredibly supportive and responsive as well as flexible. It’s appreciated and look forward to being healed and back using the club.

A hidden gem..one of James Braid's designs with dog legs, great greens with subtle borrows and well kept by greenstaff. Warm welcome from clubhouse on arrivsl and after the round. Go play.

This is a scenic and hilly 9 hole golf course that's well worth a visit. There are some stand out holes (the 3rd and 4th spring to mind), some gorgeous views, and everyone I met there was really friendly. There are a couple of climbs that will need to be navigated, but if you're okay with that then I think you'll really enjoy Alton. The greens were in great condition, and the tees and fairways were decent too.

Lovely course, good layout and test of skills even for the better player, hills and slopes a plenty, the 3rd hole would look great at any championship golf course. Only thing that lets it down here.... The user's, we had played one 9, going back around and there was only a 3 ball ahead between our rounds, ended up repairing masses of pitch marks and replaced divots too. Unfortunately lazy golfers are everywhere, just frustrating but not the fault of the golf club. Greens are a real good challenge too, think I used most clubs in the bag. Helpful lady in the bar area, will return on a dry day, but thoroughly enjoyed the round even in the rain..... Give here a try, it'll test you!

What a fantastic course. Came here for my 3rd visit this year, rained the whole way around but that didn't stop me chipping in for a 2 on the beautiful 3rd hole! As you can see, I was most happy with that...my playing partner less so...🤣

Played here today for the first time with my son. Amazing 9 hole course with some very testing and challenging holes along with some lovely views. We were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff. and the other golfers in the clubhouse, where they serve up a mean bacon butty. We will definitely be back.

A nice little 9 hole course with 2 tee boxes per hole. The different tees are just enough to change your tee shots. The first half of the course is very hilly, but it flattens out nicely towards the end. Nice and open at times, with a few holes that will challenge you a bit.

What an absolute gem!! Thoroughly enjoyed my round here. Well be back for many more.

Interesting scenic layout with some nice looking holes, challenging. Mostly muddy although dry enough in places that buggies could be used. Tees were in a poor state, greens a little better and fairways OK. The low sun was particularly blinding on a lot of the holes, more so than other courses unusually. Members and staff were very friendly.

Excellent, challenging and scenic 9 hole course designed by James Braid. After a simple but satisfying lunch you are keen to play a second nine from different tees. The clubhouse is not large or grand, but we were given a warm ànd personal welcome. Would visit again if in the area.

Friendly and welcoming. The 2 bar staff were professional. A hats off to Fred (the head and master) green keeper along with a raised glass to all I met. Thoroughly top rate throughout.

Very friendly golf club, you will need your A game

Played this course today 26 /2 22 and I've got to say it's terrible the layout is awful and the fairways are in absolutely awful condition greens were ok but not great the cross over holes are dangerous there were a few nice holes because of this we only played nine holes and £25 a round very over priced we traved 40 minutes to get to the course but will never return

Great day out, great greens, challenging layout...really friendly members and they serve the best coffee and bacon roll in Hampshire. The hog roast roll will blow your mind and make you forget the really bad golf you have just played. Worked for me!

My experience of this place was amazing, the hospitality was awesome and so was the golf.

We do apologise for our vindictive and frustrated actions against the club in response to what happened, however we do feel that it would have been general practice to let people who book know that there was a competition going on, in which case we weren’t notified. It is extra frustrating having organised this and spent money on travel especially for students. Than you for your understanding.

Very dissatisfied with this course. I did go on a rainy day, but 9 holes with 2 different tee boxes for each... Its like trying to solve a rubix cube whilst playing. However there was 1 nice par 3, hole 3 I think it was.

I'd only played here a handful of times prior to today but I was pleasantly surprised how well the course has held up considering the recent downpours, some tough hills to conquer with some great views. I will definitely be back soon hopefully.

Beautiful course. Not the easiest, but fun to play. Members friendly to those visiting like myself.

Stunning layout and scenery from every hole. Alton was a pleasant 9 hole course especially the really steel ones with excellent views across the Hampshire countryside!

Challenging but well designed 9 hole course, with dual tee boxes for full 18. Holes have good variety, some with impressive elevation changes. Club house food and drink served by very pleasant and helpful members and staff. Unfortunately not local but really hope I get a chance to play here again.

Even after all the rain we have had recently still a great little course.

Brilliant charity Texas scramble. Brilliant course, everyone was friendly and greens were in great condition. Will be returning again very soon!

We had the very best of days at Alton. The course is beautiful, the people among the most welcoming, the clubhouse cosy. It comes with my very highest recommendation

Love this course , fairways are amazing, greens are awesome,the whole course is very well looked after and views are beautiful. Clubhouse is nice and cosy and people (members) are very welcoming. There's not many courses I know of that you can just roll up and play without a tee time and actually pay after your round and at £18 for 18 holes you can't go wrong , give it a try you won't be disappointed 👍🏌⛳️
