Alghero Traditional Italian Restaurant in Windsor and Maidenhead

The staff were very attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was great, felt very cosy. However, the food was not authentic Italian unfortunately and as an Italian myself I had high hopes, but I don’t think we will be returning! :(

One of the nicest restaurants I've ever been to! I always recommend this place to my friends but I recently visited with my mum and she said it was the nicest gnocchi she's ever had! Staff always give great service and the food is so tasty.

I took my wife for her birthday here, and I must say, it was a memorable experience. The food they served was exceptional, with a diverse menu that catered to a wide range of preferences. From the moment we walked in, the service was top-notch. The staff was attentive and courteous, making us feel truly special. I couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. It's safe to say that this place left a lasting impression on me, and I'm sure to return in the future.

We tried to enjoy a meal here when the owner? started screaming at another guest; walked after him outside the restaurant and YELLED at him telling him never to come back. RUINED our evening. He lost 5 patrons.

Excellent food and staff was very friendly and attentive, too. The tiramisu was one of the best I've ever had. I'll definitely come back. :-)

I went to dine in with my husband on last saturday lunch. It was very busy. Even though we got great service. The owner checked on us if we enjoyed food and had a little chat with. Ive been in many restaurant around but this one was particularly clean and looked after. I enjoyed their pizza and thr best tiramisuever had. Iwill definitely come back. Bravo

A friend came to visit between Christmas and New year and we decided to eat in a restaurant. Alghero was warm and friendly with the two waitresses making us welcome. We had three courses and the food was lovely. I think the pizzas here are the best in Maidenhead. A great place to visit

This pizzeria in Maidenhead is a small family restaurant. A smooth man with an Italian accent takes the order and is clearly passionate about his work, while the wife and child are eating pasta. They are also friendly to the customers. The menu contains the well-known starters, desserts and main courses. Nice variations on pasta and pizza. The number of pizzas without meat is striking. But these certainly taste no less than the pizzas with meat or fish. The pizza is richly topped and tastes good. If you ever want to eat pizza in Maidenhead, I definitely recommend you drop in here.👍🏻

The reviews brought us here and they didn't lie. We loved the food and wine and will be back. Homely atmosphere and feel. Staff were on point; attentive and friendly. Impressed with our waiter's memory, he took our orders with no pen and remembered who had ordered what when serving.

The customer service was fantastic , lovely owners very friendly and welcoming. The food was exceptionally good , and the desserts was out of this world. 4 of us ate there , we all ordered different dishes and was all very good. Lovely attentive staff and very nice traditional Italian food. They offer gluten free pasta options which they should shout about more. Maybe a sign in the window mentioning this as this could be a draw. I ordered an Arriabiata which had a slightly thinner sauce than I'm used to but that might be due to the type of pasta I'm used to eating. Overall a great experience enhanced by the great staff members!

Kept walking past thinking god that smells good. Finally went for dinner and were blown away with how delicious the food was. This certainly is authentic and homemade. Great atmosphere for customers and such a lovely family vibe. Everyone was so friendly. Forget that well known pizza place a few doors down this is the best and where you should be spending your hard earned money. We'll certainly be back to try more, this visit we had the feta beetroot salad, Arancini and Pizza 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Very salty food. Both dishes had a lot of salt, and first of all I thought was only my pallet but my colleague also confirmed the same with his dish. Maybe the chef is a smoker which in this case is understandable that maybe he is cooking accordingly to his pallet. The place is nice tho

What a great restaurant Alghero is. The food was lovely the atmosphere and service on a busy Saturday night was perfect. Will definitely be coming back. The Giada pizza went down very well with our youngest, declaring it’s the best pizza he has ever eaten! 👍

In short: Great (authentic) food, amazing service and fantastic ambience. We hopped into this place with zero expectations and were pleasantly surprised by the warmth of the staff, the tasty food (especially pizza). We’re so glad we came here as I’ve had one of my best Tiramisus in a while! I’d surely want to come back for the crème de catalana.

I have some sympathy with the owners of the Alghero restaurant but there's no point in writing a review unless you tell it how it was! So here goes... It was a disaster...! We made it clear when booking and on arrival that I have gluten free requirements! We had calamari for starter which we were told was gf but turned out not to be! Luckily my allergy to wheat is reasonably mild! Then they got our pizzas mixed up and I ended up with my partner's seafood pizza on a gf base which I couldn't eat because of all the anchovies. I hate anchovies! It took 45 minutes for the pizzas to be cooked so I said I wasn't prepared to wait that long for them to cook another. So my partner ate my mixed meat pizza and they did me some gf spaghetti. The restaurant was packed and they only had the owner and his wife serving. Also, my partner was cold because of the air conditioning. Otherwise, its was fine! However, they didn't charge for the pizzas or spaghetti! Being gluten free we find it difficult to find anywhere that does a decent gf pizza and I have to say that theirs looked delicious - apart from the avhovies!!! Had my allergy been more severe the evening could have ended disasterously in A&E. They do need to be more careful with their allergen procedures!

We've been here three times and always found excellent food quality, with dishes that taste of real Italian cuisine. The last time was for Christmas Eve dinner, the courses were truly delicious and the price per person was absolutely fair. I think we'll repeat for New Year's Eve.

This was also our first visit since Stefano opened Alghero’s and both myself and my wife were not disappointed and enjoyed every morsel. As the other reviewers have mentioned the restaurant is in safe hands once again…👏👏🥂 Our staters main meal and dessert,s where cooked to perfection!! We also find this restaurant to be very very reasonably priced and the portions of food to be more than adequate for anyone. We’ve already booked a large family sitting for early in the New Year and can’t wait for our next meal at this lovely and friendly authentic Italian restaurant. To Stefano and all he’s family and staff members we wish you a Merry Christmas and a very prosperous 2022. A special plea to all local residents. Please help and support this genuine traditional Italian establishment to prosper and survive through this pandemic by actually using the restaurant.🙏

This was our first visit to this restaurant since it was taken over by its new owner a month-or-so ago. This was our go-to restaurant under its previous owners, and we were keen to see what the new owner has done. There is continuity, in that the new owner is the former front-of-house, and he continues to set a friendly atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The menu has broadened, and now reflects the owner’s Sardinian roots. There is still a strong focus on traditional Italian dishes - pasta, pizza and calzone - but there are now more fish dishes, steak, lamb and – on the Christmas menu - duck (and turkey). We went with a robust shared starter, a seafood platter of calamari, whitebait, prawns and cod chunks that was served piping hot, crispy and delicious. For mains I had a tuna steak (cooked to my preference) with a shaved Parmensan and rocket salad and a side of courgettes that were to die for - hot, crispy thin batter and sweet, melting vegetable. My husband had spaghetti carbonara, and was one of the best I have tasted outside of Italy - the sauce was neither runny nor dry, and the balance of tastes was perfect. The panna cotta (thick and luscious) came with a rich berry topping, and a complementary glass of a Sardinian liqueur made from little red berries native only to that island. Portions were ample - 12 hours later I’m still not hungry; the atmosphere friendly and relaxed; and the overall experience was exactly the warm pre-Christmas eating experience we had hoped for.

Magnifico!!! This is the successor to the much-loved Bianco Nero/Emmanuela's and fans of the latter can rest assured that Piero and Emmanuela's legacy is safe in Stefano's hands. Stefano has introduced some new Sardinian flavours to the menu and the results are wonderful. It is still Italian home cooking at its best, but with a delicious new twist. Alghero is my favourite restaurant bar none in a 25 mile radius. Please come and try it for yourselves - if you like the food and atmosphere of a real trattoria, you will not be disappointed.
