Great food and service. Lovely evening.

Lovely place. Great atmosphere, large varied menu, excellent service and sensational food. Thoroughly recommended.

Overall not that bad not that good, I had the 20oz steak which was just 10oz steaks stacked on top of each other which was a bit disappointing. The steaks themselves were fairly low quality cuts. Cooked very well then drenched in sauce. The places was BUSY when we arrived. Which was 10 minutes late for our booking and still required to wait 10 minutes before getting a seat which is fine. My partner had a salad and falafel she said the salad was okay and the falafel was really good. Service was really good always attentive and very friendly. With how busy the restaurant was that was actually quite impressive. My partner is vegetarian and she said there wasn’t that many good options for her. Overall, we probably won’t be back because of the quality of the food but a really nice restaurant regardless

Amazing experience at Algarve’s Grill. Had delicious fresh prawns and a lovely portuguese drink called brisa. The staff really looks after you, all very friendly and polite… The restaurant’s atmosphere was just so nice it made me feel at home! Will definitely be back (every week!!!!)

Excellent evening at the Algarves Grill whilst my wife and I had a short break at Portsmouth/Southsea.The restaurant was quite full and the atmosphere was terrific but that was nothing compared to the food. I had a dish with Portuguese style cod, prawns and clams and my wife had sea bass with prawns. The flavours in each were lovely and it was a struggle to finish. What makes this restaurant even better is the excellent staff. I only wish it was in London

This Portuguese red is a true find! The Francesinha was incredible, it took me straight to Porto. Crispy fries on the side and a refreshing passionfruit drink, called brisa, made it a perfect meal. Authentic flavors, beautiful presentation, and warm, friendly service. A must-visit for anyone craving a taste of Portugal!

Had an excellent meal with my wife here. Loved the steak and lobster, and their Crème Brûlée was amazing. Staff were friendly and attentive.

My first time at Algarve’s Grill was a lovely experience. I had fresh prawns, nothing like the tiny frozen ones you get in other places… The staff were kind, welcoming and always making sure everything was okay with my dinner. Overall amazing experience, will definitely come back and recommend!

For those who are in the south of the UK, and are looking for Mediterranean food, more specifically, Portuguese, you cannot miss the opportunity to go for lunch or dinner at this restaurant. Owned by Portuguese from the Luso area, and friendly staff, from Madeira and V N Gaia. There is francesinha, Alentejo pork, and very good meats. Mandatory visit.

Excellent food and friendly caring staff. We had piri piri half chicken, falafel burger, 5 x tapas (which are large portions), salad, and chips. All excellent. The calamari was very popular. I like the pork and chorizo. This was our first visit to a Portuguese restaurant. We will be going back next week.

We had a very good lunch. My falafel burger with red caggage and chips was great. My wife had tapas which was very good. The street outside is not the best in Southsea.

We really enjoyed the paella. Can't speak for authenticity but it was tasty. Flavor was good. Good quality seafood. Especially the prawns. Place was clean.

We attended for a late lunch. Initially we thought it was closed but the staff could not have been more helpful. We were in a party of four and had five tapas per couple. I had chicken kebabs, grilled prawns and chicken wings my wife had cod fish cakes and falafel with goats cheese. It was delicious and plentiful. We washed it down with a couple of super bok lager. The five tapas and a bottle of wine was £25 which has got to be a bargain. Recommended and I will be going back :)

Popped in here for the first time. Friendly staff and very clean. We had the 5 tapas for £30. Really good value for money and lovely food.

We came for a birthday and had a very enjoyable time. The birthday boy was very happy with his meal and wine. Service was excellent, generous portions for the price and everything served with a smile. I had a ribeye steak which was fairly priced and nicely cooked. My wife had the sirloin although she found it a little chewer than she is used to. We are glad to have been able to book this restaurant for this birthday celebration.

Don't look to me as Portugese cooking. Steak and shrimps: shrimps not very fresh but meat tender.

We visited Portsmouth for the day and Was looking for someone to eat as the choice of restaurants are limited around the gunwharf shopping area. Algarve grill came up on Google and we decided to give it a go after seeing the glowing reviews on Google! All I can say is that it certainly lived up to the reviews and this place is a real gem. We arrived around 6pm with no reservation which we thought might be a problem, but we had no issues getting a table. The restaurant really started to get busy and fill up after 7ish, bearing in mind this was a midweek evening so I can only imagine how busy it gets on Fridays and Saturday. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, everyone having a good time and there was a really good ambience and feel about the place. The staff were amazing from start to finish, very attentive and friendly. They made you feel very welcome, my mum couldn’t decide what to have but we never felt rushed to order or hurry up. The food was amazing, some of the best ribs I have ever had. My mum had sirloin steak which was very nice and my dad had salmon which he said was fantastic. I also have to add that the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food and portion sizes. I am so glad we found this restaurant, this will be my go to place whenever I am in the area or visiting!

We dined here on a busy Friday evening. The tapas selection was good (although some strange options - chicken tenders?), and the prices were reasonable. The decoration is fab and the staff were all lovely. We really enjoyed the evening. Our favourites of the night were the sardines, cheese parcels and pastel de nata.

They serve large portions with average quality of the product. If you are looking for quality steaks then this isn't the place. I would always go to Hawksmoor, Gaucho or M restaurant.

Great restaurant, lovely atmosphere and saw a couple of dogs there so assume they are dog friendly! The food was great and fish was fresh. Great wine selection! Staff was just great and Mario made us feel welcomed and at home! Defintely will be coming back!

Delicious mains and good portions. The sardines and happy francesinha are tasty. The burger comes with two well seasoned patties. Our waiter Flavio was very attentive and friendly. Will definitely come again!

The waiter was very polite and helpful, we had Francesinha. Good quality ingredients on the francesinha itself, the sauce was not so good, really strong tomato flavour, couldn't feel any of the characteristic flavours of the francesinha sauce.

The francesinha is one of the best that I ever had, if not the best.

This is an exceptional restaurant. It's not flashy and expensive. It just does what it does brilliantly well. The food is first class and comes without delay, despite the restaurant inevitably being busy. The meat and fish skewers are especially to be recommended. That said, my partner and I have never been disappointed. A great venue for a superb, good value dinner.

when planning our southsea visit me and my portuguese partner noticed this restaurant and planned to visit it. we had a wonderful time; the restaurant is well fitted with nice lighting and good decor. service was very friendly and accomodating; I had the lisboa chicken and my partner had the francesinha. we also got desserts - i highly recommend the creme brulee, it was lovely, light and lemony. overall a fantastic experience and i would love to come again next time im in the area!

Had a light lunch of toasties and fries. The staff were polite and attentive and the food was fine. It looks like a great place for buying Portuguese and Brazilian produce.

Located on Osborne Road near the Queen's Hotel end. Parking is limited. Restaurant is well presented outside and the window is not cluttered, etc. Inside everything is clean, neat and tidy. Menu's were a little untidy. Service was great, fast and the team were professional and polite. Drinks and food were served quickly and everything was perfect, great flavours and matched the description.

The only reason I am leaving a 5 star review is because I cannot leave a 6 star. Great place!

Well this was a very real treat! The food was amazing and the service superb. We ate tapas style and were not disappointed. All the dishes we selected were fresh, wonderful and mouthwatering! We rounded off with desserts and coffees - again, all first class. If we lived closer we would eat here regularly!

A great choice for a true Portuguese experience! Decided to take my friends there so they could have an idea about the Portuguese food and drinks and they were amazed!!! A wide variety of meals, tempting deals 2 for 1, vegetarian and kid’s menu available. The staff was very good at explaining the menu and let us know it could be adjusted to our tastes and likes. Their Sangria it’s also great and they have mouth watering desserts too, definitely try the Banana waffle and the Portuguese desert! Overall, we had an amazing time and surely will be back to try out more things from the menu, definitely not a restaurant to miss out!!

If you’re looking for a place where you can get a taste of Portugal, this is definitely it!! I have come here countless times and I am always eager to come back! The dishes I have tried so far are delicious and quite a good portion for its price, the staff is also very welcoming and lovely and they’re always ready to help and have a quick chat about the food or their hometown!! Definitely gonna keep coming back and introducing my friends to this place!

I have had a really good dining experience before here eating the fish skewer main and lobster but we only wanted tapas this time and were very disappointed. Staff and atmosphere lovely but food felt rushed , not seasoned and bland with iceberg lettuce on every plate . The meat patties looked like processed frozen food fried and 2 falafel with a little goats cheese as a portion isn’t generous. I would recommend the fresh fish dishes but I’d never order the tapas here again.

Good local restaurant with a great range of options.

Understaffing resulted in a slightly awkward and uncomfortable dining experience. For which I cannot blame the staff, as they did try with only 2 of them and a full restaurant, but the management. Wage bills may be high but customer satisfaction is worth spending a bit extra. As you can imagine, service was slow but it was fine as i was enjoying my company. The highlight of the meal was the sangria. Had as a starter: -chicken and bacon—which left a lot to be desired was very bland considering and for the few pieces for the price I would steer clear from. - falafel with goats cheese—this was decent would not say amazing. You can give it a try but maybe try something else on the menu. As a main I shared the signature paella and this was very underwhelming, especially being the signature dish. It was just not very flavourful and seemed to have been made in a rush without letting the ingredients, seasoning all mesh together. As I said, the food might usually be better but due to lack of staff, things might have been made quicker and fired out without care.

The burger and lobster were ok, but we couldn’t finish the wings and rips. Even if they call themselves a grill place, they brought chicken wings, not grilled (baked/boiled) and peri peri sauce wasn’t the best.

I recently dined at Algarve’s Grill and had a mixed experience. While the restaurant offers a 2-for-1 deal, which is great value for money, I was disappointed by some aspects. The service was good, but the 20%SERVICE CHARGE felt excessive. Additionally, the steak I ordered had a weird smell and tasted like it was off. Despite the value deal and good service, the quality of the food and the steep service charge made for a less than satisfying visit.

This was an amazing find! The best francesinha I've had outside of Portugal! Will definitely be coming back. Service was really good and prompt, food was piping hot!

Good service and atmosphere. The falafel and goats cheese starter was tasty. The Porto chicken was very good. The grilled seabass was slightly disappointing. We received two fillets of what looked like pan fried seabass, it was a bit overcooked and slightly under seasoned. Next time we visit we will probably opt for the skewers as we could tell they look amazing. Pastel de nata was served warm and was tasty!

Awful! Had a table booked for 18 people, was given an extremely strict timeline of 2hrs, after being left outside in the rain to wait cause we dared to get there 15mins earlier with a baby - left outside with a baby! Felt rushed throughout, even McDonalds has better customer service, did not feel welcome AT ALL! If anything we were an inconvenience yet they were extremely happy to take our money, a lot of money I’d like to add! Disgusting service, horrible experience, will not be visiting ever again. Kudos to the chef though, apart from that absolutly awful awful awful!

It’s my first visit to Portsmouth and I must say that I am having a wonderful time here with my family. I would like to emphasise that Algarve’s Grill is simply amazing in every aspect: culinary, decoration and especially the staff -they’re extremely friendly.

Huge portions but staff very quick to offer takeaway boxes. The boss is a truly lovely man.

To say this is an excellent restaurant is an understatement. It's one of the best restaurants in terms of food and atmosphere I've been in. The food is of such high quality and in turn taste produced to a high standard time after time. For me it's our go to place to eat when we really need a good slap up meal. The owner and his staff are very friendly and helpful. They offer some authentic Portuguese dishes alongside an extensive menu containing a dish for all tastes. The portions are large without being off-putting. We tend to share main meals between our party as to get a real taste of the menu. The food was nice but we had to keep re asking the waiters for drinks and the bill as they kept forgetting and the restaurant smelt like fire and now we do too which is grim

Easter Bank Holiday where to go. As most places closed. Which was good luck. In my job role I cover 35 - 50 pubs Hotels & restaurants per week. Algraves of Southsea Portsmouth. Absolutely Glorious. Excellent service friendly staff from Manager to waitress to even the Chef coming out & asking about how was your food. Trust me alot of places could learn a lesson from the whole experience here at Algraves. Starters were great hot & Excellent size portions. Biggest chicken wings apart from being abroad I've ever had. The main? Well Algraves Special Paella. This was enough for four people. Mussels / crevettes/ chicken/ half a lobster / chirozo in exceptionally tasty typical rice saffron flavours. Second main , Half a lobster again & steak cooked perfectly. Desserts as if there was room . A classic take on Banoffee pie. Large waffle ice cream caramel syrup & cooked Bananas. Then the classic Portuguese Chocolate cake. Full of flavour. Then on the house two lovely shots of Portuguese port. From the Staff. My only complaint is to staff. Food is priced too cheap. Compared to what I see at other places. I would highly recommend Coming here. Three components covered. Excellent hospitality Excellent food Excellent prices. You must take a visit here.

Terrible smokey atmosphere for some reason leaving smell on clothes. Stupid fine print on special deal at Easter when the place was empty which meant a £20 premium over the online and menu advertised price. Check the offered tapas deal is valid or be prepared to walk away

On a two day visit to Portsmouth, had a fabulous meal at this restaurant, the tapas was brilliant I had ribs for main course the ribs was the best I have tasted anywhere. My partner had cod and loved it. Highly recommended, if I lived in portsmouth we would dine here weekly. Thanks for a great night experience.

Great food, very warm welcome by the boss/manager and staffs, wonderful music. One of the best Sangria I had in UK. The grilled fish skewer is tender and delicious. We had a really fantastic evening with my family. Highly recommanded and would defiantly come again.

The food is delicious, and the staff are very friendly. The only downside was we felt a little bit rushed, but it was very busy as was a Friday night. The decor is awesome especially the car on the wall. Would highly recommend.
