Alfresco Cockfosters in Enfield

Been going to Al Fresco for years. Usually use the Whetstone one but had been here a few times and thought we'd try it again now it's reopened . I wondered if it's changed hands as didn't recognise any staff, the menu was different and there was zero atmosphere. Sadly the food was distinctly average.

We have been coming to Al Fresco in Cockfosters (also Whetstone) for many years. Before it shut down for a while (still not sure why) we had some disappointing experiences - staff were not friendly and we weren’t going to go back. However, since it re-opened, we have been regularly - food is consistently good and the new staff are great. The manager in particular is always friendly and welcoming - and he remembers your favourite dishes, wine,… Great place for some traditional Italian food! Dishes are well priced and you won’t leave hungry. Plus, guests are offered free Limoncello, cognac, etc after the meal. Don’t miss it if you are in the Cockfosters area.

Been here last night and everything was great ... My pizza was tasty and to be fair they were not expensive at all. Will give it another shot to see what else we can have on the menu

Stopped in after a long day shopping & sightseeing in London before driving home. Very glad we did!! 2 fantastic pizzas, good crust, very fresh toppings, just what we needed. Service was friendly & quick, the drinks were well chilled & the prices were very reasonable. Will be coming again & would recommend to anyone.

The food was lovely and the staff were amazing. I would recommend Alfresco as it was a lovely restuarant and family friendly.

Six of us went for our daughter's birthday meal. The staff were very friendly, the maitre'd was joking with is and the chef came to chat. Food was great - I had sea bass, the portion was very generous unlike many restaurants. We would definitely visit again.

Delicious T bone cooked to perfection, first class service. Very reasonable price for the quality of the restaurant, would highly recommend a visit.

The restaurant was pretty empty but it still took ages for our order to be taken. The staff were just standing around talking to each other. The pizza was ok; nothing special. The lasagne was just very dry, hard sheets of pasta with a tiny bit of sauce. Had to return it. We should have gone to Prezzo across the road. Will not be returning.

Average cuisine. Not very busy. Too much restaurant competition in the area. Good for a quick meal. Probably wouldn’t be in a rush to go back.

Went on Friday night and had an excellent meal with my husband and 4 year old son. Food was delicious, served in good time and the service was exceptional. Our waitress was very attentive and extremely kind to my little boy. Noisy enough (in a positive way) that having a 4 year old with us was no bother and a really enjoyable experience. Highly recommend the sea bass

Superb food presented with welcoming, prompt, friendly service. Ample parking and easy online booking.

The portions here are huge, and the food very tasty. An extensive menu very hard to choose with all italian favourites here and specials too. Toilets clean and all over very covid compliant atm.

A perfect evening with delicious food and 5star service. Waiters were so attentive and kind to my daughter in wheelchair

Avoid these restaurant don't even go there.It was my wife birthday and we chose these place. From start to the end it was bad. Many items out off stock from the menu. No waiter come to take are order for 20min.Waited 1 hr for food to arrive at the table. Also they did not care at all. Untrained staff unprofessional staff.I will not recommend to anyone to dine there. They are the worst restaurant in Cockfoster. Supervisor even asked my child to fill up the covid 19 forms she is just 10 years old. How unprofessional how useful service how low and poor on everything they do and serve. They don't deserve even 1 star just minus 100.Don't waste your money on these place

We normally go to Al Fresco in Whetstone,but in present times Cockfosters is muchmore spacious. Tables are more comfortably further apart.Welcome so warm. Shared a starter Parma Ham and Mozzarella(wonderfull). Mum had Spaghetti Napoli and The Chef made me Penne Amatriciana,not on the menu,my favourite and compliments to him.My comments mostly very positive:Your still offering EOTHO display this outside.Only slight negative,pouring the lovely Gavi from the ice bucket dripped all overthe table(napkin would have saved a small swimming pool )but wine was excellent.A very enjoyable meal with my lovely Mother,fantastic food,such lovely staff and a discount that i gave back as a gratuity on top of service.See you soon. I visited this afternoon, with my family. We were the only people in the restaurant. We ordered some starters and pasta and 2 pizzas for main. After we finished our starters, we waited quite a bit of time and then the waiter came over and said there was a problem with the pizza oven and there was no pizza. We asked why he didn’t say at the beginning and why he made us wait so long. He asked to pick something else. My son and husband wanted pizza so we decided to leave. Shockingly, there was no offer of free drinks to apologise and even worse, when he brought the bill over for the starters and drinks he charged us service charge! In retrospect, I think for making us wait so long before telling us there was a problem, we should not have paid. Poor customer service especially as we had a child with us. Avoid this place!

Had a wonderful experience. Service was great, food was yummy and cooked well. I had sea bass and potatoes and my friend has the risotto. We shared the Nutella gnocchi for desert. The only downside was the salad which was lettuce with rocket and tomatoes on top. Not really what I expect from a restaurant in terms of salads. Will revisit.

We waited for 2 hrs with no food at allThe restaurant was understaffed and disorganised with haphazard serving We requested our food numerous times and each time we were told it was nearly ready when in fact they hadn’t bothered to start cookingWe finally left and were asked to pay the whole amount despite not receiving any food at all! Absolutely appallingThroughout lockdown we have supported this restaurant by ordering numerous takeaways and to see that this is how they treat their local customers is shocking

I’ve been here so many times now and every time I visit both the food and service are PERFECT. I love the restaurant so much that if they made a slight mistake, I wouldn’t mind and yet they never do!!Not sure how they achieve this perfection, but it’s pretty impressive. Well done to the management, team of chefs and front of house staff. Thank you for being such great value for money with added top notch food quality and friendly, efficient service with a personal touch.

What a lovely place!! We had an amazing lunch with a big group of friends and were served excellent food and great wine. We had a very kind and welcoming waiter. Overall just a great place with a warm atmosphere and a lot of smiles! PS: definitely try the garlic pizza bread and spaghetti with prawns and courgette!

Alfresco Cockfosters has continued to be my favourite local italian restaurant. Welcoming staff, great atmosphere and an airy, relaxing setting. The menu is extensive with a wide range of pizzas, pastas, fish and meat dishes. It's also great for vegetarians. I've visited three times since Xmas Eve and the food was always fresh and tasty. Have also introduced both family and friends to this venue and they have all remarked on the exceptional food and service. Will soon be arranging a birthday celebration in Alfresco as I know my guests won't be disappointed.

The Minestrone soup was tasteless. The lamb shank was tough We told the manager and he made no comment .

Everything was so bland. Sent 2 main courses back which we did not pay for. Prawns were mushy Muscles sauce was way to saltyThe Manager did not come over to appologise and left his staff to deal with us. Did not offer any discounts and added service charge!! Cheeky1 brazilian waitress was fantasic and the rest have no expirence. I had to ask for cutlery 4 different occasions. I asked for a glass with ice and lemon so I can add my coca cola. see photo attached what they bought to me. All i could do was laugh.

After deciding on Al Fresco, Cockfosters for our NYE dinner, we couldn’t have asked for more. Impeccable service, food perfect and great atmosphere. Entertainment was laid on which was brilliant. Everyone danced, including the staff! Was so much fun. Thank you, Al Fresco!

Particularly good for pizza. Other food is less inspiring but the pizzas are well worth the visit. good selection of pizzas and calzones.

Bit noisy with the music,so couldn’t hear conversation on our table,food was ok but my carbonara the bacon was not nice, but was taken off our bill, so was left hungry, service was mediocre.

We usually visit the Whestone branch so we thought we would try the Cockfosters branch. It was truly lovely and the ambience is lovely. I think we now prefer this one to Whestone.The food was really nice too and the waiter was very pleasant and gave us tips on what to order.A nice place to go for a romantic meal too.

Managed to get a table at the last minute, A great choice of starters, pastas and pizzas. Service could have been slightly better.

Siamo stati piacevolmente sorpresi da questo locale che ha aperto da poco più di 6 mesi, Soeli e il suo staff sono stati sempre molto gioviali, educati e sorridenti in tutte le tre sere che ci siamo fermati da loro. Abbiamo ordinato la pasta, corta e lunga in diverse varietà di condimenti ed era davvero squisita, tutto condito da un'attenzione particolare al cliente che non può far altro che piacere. Anche la pizza era molto buona, croccante al punto giusto ed il pollo alla piastra è stato molto apprezzato da nostro figlio che è difficile da accontentare. Il locale davvero carino, arredato bene e con un'ottima musica di sottofondo. Tutto il personale molto gentile e sempre col sorriso, un vero piacere. Ci torneremo sicuramente durante il nostro prossimo viaggio a Londra.

Al Fresco is well placed for public transport being a 5 minute walk from Cockfosters Station on the Piccadilly Line. Parking is also available in the access road outside and is free after 6.30pm.

Firstly, the soup I ordered, even though I told the waiter I liked my soup hot, was served cold. I sent this back and by the time I got served with soup slightly hotter, everybody had finished.

I don’t usually write reviews on chain restaurants - but wow! The food was magnificent - highly recommend the aubergine for starters and the seafood pasta. The gelato is absolutely lovely also; the rum and raisin is yum!To top it off, the bill came to less than £50 for the both of us, and the service was great! Highly recommend for a nice night out in Cockfosters!

Stopped off for the first time in this Italian for drinks and a snack. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and will definitely pop back for dinner one evening. It looks like a friendly and reliable place to eat. Service was fantastic and really attentive, the waiter even came out to swat a troublesome wasp!

Visited this restaurant on Saturday night in a group of 8. The service was so slow. We were seated at 7.30 and starter didn’t arrive until 9! The presentation was disappointing. Another hours wait for the main course, one of which was sent back. Coffee was cold. Not a good dining experience.

Three of us went for dinner to this delightful restaurant. The service was excellent, with friendly, helpful staff.

The staff are the same. The menu is the same. Food quality is terrific as usual. We will continue to consider this and it’s sister branch in whetstone as our favourite Italian restaurants

We were 12 people out for lunch. Service very poor. The food was very slow and afults meals came before childrens. We complained to manager and he did not care at all. Then a lafy came up no introduction and said whats is the problem and i let rip and she just said i will check no apology. I said this is why your restuarant empty

Having been to the very good sister restaurant in Whetstone many years ago we decided to give this one a try and weren't disappointed. It was weekday summers evening and the restaurant was half full, probably a good thing as we received very good attentive service. Bread, olive oil and balsamic vinegar were placed on the table first, had to use my full willpower not to eat it all and spoil the meal. I visited this new restaurant last weekend, and will not be returning.Nothing looks in the right place. Too messy. food seemed to be pre-cooked or frozen.

Called here for an early lunch 12.30pm. Very few other customers but this is to be expected at the time of day, also perhaps it needs to build up a following since re opening. Other restaurants in Cockfosters have a regular clientele and were busier.

Very impressed by our special deal lunchtime meal today. Good selection for a lunchtime special, and really good portions and tasty food for the money. Service was pleasant and restaurant was comfortable light and airy. Excellent value for good food, will return.

reopened recently, as soon as you enter, you already feel at ease, warm and welcoming. the food is as if it arrived directly from Italy, rich in flavors and perfectly served.

So myself and my husband decided to pop in for lunch today for the first time since it re-opened. The lunch deal was tempting price-wise and there was a good selection. There was no one else in the restaurant when we arrived at around 1pm on a Wednesday afternoon and when we walked in staff seemed ambivalent.. perhaps I should’ve realised this wasn’t going to go well then. So, we ordered, pretty swiftly and waited in anticipation (we were very hungry and in a fairly tight schedule). We got our drinks and bread and then waited over 30mins for our starters. We are these quickly (bean soup and calamari) and they were ok. Then we waited and waited and waited.. Another couple had arrived in the interim and they were happily tucking into their fries. So we asked when our main course was coming and they looked confused ‍♀️ then the food arrived (penne and the fish). No sides as specified (the menu stated a side of potatoes, salad or fries and vegetables). So we asked and apparently only the fish had a side - broccoli and potatoes and the pasta didn’t have the option on the salad. Ok... so we ate our mains and then came the (very small) sides (after we had eaten the main). We quickly bolted it out of there as had been there 1hr and a half and *sigh* won’t be going back again. If we want Italian we shall be heading to Prezzo in future. I do prefer independents but the service was abysmal. There were 4 members of staff for two couples! Really no excuse.

we had heard from friends that the al fresco restaurant in cockfoster had reopened, the place is pleasant and the food of excellent quality, personally I recommend it especially for a romantic date as it is not very noisy

Having really enjoyed our previous trips to Al Fresco (before the refurbishment), we were looking forward to heading back after a long break. Sadly, the restaurant is now rather too similar to the one in Whetstone for our taste, in terms of acoustics, service and quality of food. We may try again midweek, but shan't be rushing back at a weekend. Used to be fabulous, now very average in my opinion. Was also surprised to see a service charge applied even for just 4 people.

Whole evening was a total sham. Called restaurant to make a reservation. Don’t know why but girl answering the phone hung up. Ring again and told it would be fine. On arriving was told there was no reservations. The place was more than half empty but was told there was no reservation under my name.Anyway it appeared as if they were obliging us by letting us in.The servers were arguing amongst themselves and I could see there was total chaos in front of the computer. The food itself was average and nothing great to warrant another visit.Working with gusto is one thing but not sure of what you are doing could end up in bad taste. If the owners admit there was some teething problems I would readily accept and go back again.

Ordered some pizza takeaway over the phone. I’ve been told it’ll be ready in 20 minutes. Went there to pick it up. 50 minutes later it was still not ready. Second time when this is happening. Next time I’ll take my business somewhere else, there’s a lot of Italian restaurants and takeaways in the area!

We went for lunch on Sunday, without reservation. Nice place, kind service, right timings, clean, good pasta and at reasonable price. We enjoyed so we will repeat.

we have been to this establishment on many occasions with as 45 friends, birthday parties, entertaining business clients even unfortunate a funeral lunch and many times on our own. The staff are wonderful, the food is amazing the building has crisp new decor. This restaurant is my favorite restaurant and the staff are nice people.

my girlfriend and I always go to al fresco whetstone and as soon as we found out that the new local in cockfosters had reopened we decided to go and try it on Sunday for lunch, the place really well furnished. very good service and the food never disappoints. good job

This place has been closed since fire damaged earlier in 2017. No indication as to wh3n it may reopen. Due to earlier visits I have given this place a 3 rating.

Vino caliente y tuvimos que pedir 3 camareros a cambio. Pan pizza era trajo e izquierda por cubiertos cuando era fría y nos sirve enviado volver tuvimos que pedir 3 camareros. Pasta media - no volveré! El único camarero que era un muchacho llamado atenta Kuky.

Disfrutamos de una cena tarde el domingo por la tarde aquí con 10 personas. La comida era excelente, un ambiente muy agradable y no nos molestarán a salir. El personal era muy amable y con unos cuantos vegetarianos entre nosotros que atendía muy bien. Ravioli es realmente bonito, y el pan de ajo pizza fuimos en unos segundos! Tuve que en Rigatoni Alle con berenjenas 7 libras. 50 una porción de tamaño realmente decente. Mi OH tiene la Pizza Piccante (9 libras) y no comer postre fue muy completo. A un precio muy razonable!

Met friends for a Saturday night parlez ,authentic Italian restaurant,friendly warm staff and very good service with food to match,restaurant was full very busy and a lot of happy eaters seen, just a little difficult hearing across the table but cannot expect otherwise in a good well known restaurant.A very enjoyable night.

La primera vez que almuerzo visita por cinco, elegido después de leer las buenas críticas.

Visitamos el dia 30 de enero para el almuerzo. Hay un menú de almuerzo de 2 platos de entrante y plato principal por £11 con un refresco o un £12 con copa de vino o una cerveza. Nos sentamos y sólo nos dieron el menú principal y carta de vinos. Tuve que preguntar al camarero por menú de almuerzo. Desde que ambos elegimos calamares mientras mi compañero eligió Calve de hígado y yo elegimos Penne Arabiata. Todo el tiempo allí era muy ruidoso música en el restaurante y música desde diferentes la cocina. Nos comentaron acerca de la música, el camarero para que aparezca la música en el restsurant para ahogar la cocina. Esto hizo que el ruido peor. La comida era excelente, y también vinieron con una cesta de pan y mantequilla con aceite y vinagre balsámico sobre la mesa. Pedimos postres desde el menú principal y elegimos tarta de manzana y pasteles rellenos de crema de limón. Ambos eran excelentes. En conjunto una buena comida sólo estropeado un poco por la música ruidosa que era intrusivo, en vez de estar en el fondo.

51 de nosotros fuimos a comer al aire libre en Cockfosters última noche y tuvimos una agradable velada. Un compañero de trabajo que estaba dejando el lugar como ella sugirió le encanta, y va regularmente. No nos decepcionó. La comida llegó rápidamente y eficientemente, recibimos generosas porciones y la comida estaba bien hecha. Un ambiente muy agradable, acogedor y muchos del grupo estaban hablando de ir allí, ya que estaban tan impresionados. Recomiendo encarecidamente este restaurante.

I popped in for lunch, after a couple of particularly hard days work, needing a nice plate of comforting pasta. The meal and service was great and set me up for a long drive back to the Midlands perfectly. The prices are good too!

Nos gusta tratar a nuestra familia para almorzar antes de salir de Gran Bretaña, y al aire libre es siempre en la parte superior de nuestros favoritos. Evidentemente, nos gusta la comida italiana, pero en este particular, no muy bienvenida, tienen un excelente menú y extensa y los precios son razonables. Estoy de acuerdo en que al aire libre en Whetstone es muy concurrido y el servicio es más lento. La comida es muy buena en ambos sitios.

En nuestro grupo tuvimos muchos artículos que todo el mundo parecía disfrutar. El ambiente era agradable, y el servicio era muy bueno.

Esta fue nuestra primera visita y sin duda no será la última. Un menú muy variado, con mucho para elegir. Mira la pizza genial y sin duda volveremos para ellos, pero en esta ocasión me había sopa y un bistec. El minestrone hasta helados hechos estaba bien caliente pero si estoy 100% honesto, podría haber hecho con un poco más de condimento de la pimienta negra que es habitualmente añadido en la mesa.

6 de nosotros fuimos a comer al aire libre en Cockfosters. Tuve sólo cenamos en al aire libre en lo que es una total Whetstone con colas en el locos de entrada cuando hay mucha gente. Esta rama es más tranquila y ordenada y nos llevaron directamente a nuestra mesa redonda. Perfecto para 6 personas. Tuve Calabacín como entrante con una ensalada de calabacines a la parrilla, las hojas de espinacas, mozzarella y tomates secos sol. Deliciosa y una buena parte de tamaño. He seguido con la pechuga de pato en salsa de vino tinto y puré de patatas con un acompañamiento de verduras caliente mixta. De nuevo, una buena parte y también delicioso. El único aspecto negativo en la mesa dos platos de pasta tuvieron que ser enviadas de vuelta ya que estaban tibia en lugar de caliente. Mi esposa tenía penne arrabiata y dijo que le gusta lo picante. Era un poco demasiado picante aunque ella terminado. Nuestros amigos Escalope de ternera toda la bandeja llena fue servido. 3 de nosotros tuvimos una botella de red house entre nosotros (12 libras para un buen italiano), un vaso de vino blanco y un vodka y lima. Con el servicio (que fue excelente) la factura era de 21 libras por persona. Excelente relación calidad-precio para una comida italiana muy buena. Sin duda volveré.

Esto es lo más cercano que he llegué a una auténtica pizza italiana! En ocasiones he pedido una pizza a casa conmigo, mi favorito era 'Marinara con espinacas. Añadir un extra de llovizna de aceite en casa, pero sin duda, probar los sabores. Tengo que ir a comer aquí algún día, pero recomiendo la pizza!

Esperamos 45 minutos para pescado crudo llegó después. No servicial. Noche hizo desagradable. Camarero nunca ofrecieron ensalada en vez de veges. Pedido de limón nunca llegó. Chocante. Dijo a uno de horno? No vamos a volver. Bill reducido en 5 libras que es una broma. Debería haber salimos me arruinaron nuestra noche.

Six of us all enjoyed our meal at Al Fresco, Cockfosters. Rather noisy (isn't everywhere) but appreciated we were allocated a round table as requested when booking. Very good and fairly priced house wine.

Visitamos Al Fresco de nuevo con un grupo de amigos en una noche de viernes. Como siempre, la comida era de primera categoría. Todos teníamos algo diferente - varios fuimos para mariscos salmón y atún ambos eran altamente calificado, pero la ternera y platos de pasta era igual de bueno. Buena variedad de budines, profiteroles, secados della nonna, Panna Cotta y muchos más. Una botella de vino y varias bebidas suaves y nuestras facturas (con propina) para 5 alrededor de 20 libras. El único problema era el nivel de ruido, ya que estaba lleno con varias mesas muy grande lleno de gente ruidosa, pero era viernes y sé que es mejor durante una semana. Sin duda, un firme favorito.

Comimos en un sábado por la noche con amigos y bienvenida fue amable y buen servicio, pero lamentablemente la comida era muy promedio, y carecía de finura.

He visitado este restaurante durante muchos años y ahora me ha impactado nunca he dado un examen, ya que se merece. El personal es muy amable, acogedor y siempre muy atentos. La comida es más que impresionante. El tamaño de las porciones son muy generosas. He probado muchos entrantes y platos principales unos pocos, pero siempre tienen la mejillones en tomates que son impresionantes. Lo mejor de todo es que es muy razonable. Para mí, la comida y el servicio mucho mejor entonces carluccios. Reserve ahora usted no será decepcionado.

Fui para una comida con la familia y 2 de ellos spaghetti a la boloñesa y pollo y después cuando llegaron a casa fueron ambos enfermos. Tenían trabajo y escuela y vomito en público! Estaban tan avergonzado. Llamé a la empresa y en vez de pedir perdón me dijeron otra cosa se enfermó, así que nadie que no volvería el dinero para nosotros!

Fuimos a este restaurante en un domingo por la tarde y aunque tranquilo cuando llegamos a las 19:00 h el restaurante era bastante ocupado cuando nos fuimos. Disfruté de mi lasaña pero mi otra mitad no excesivamente disfrutar su pizza. Otro miembro de la familia disfrutó su comida. Así que, en general, fue una experiencia agradable.

Un cómodo restaurante italiano local que estaba muy ocupado cuando visitamos el domingo a mediodía,

con un amigo que era dejar Londres y está ansiosa de pizza. Ambos tuvimos el risotto magnífico de mariscos como aperitivo con pizza como platos principales. El risotto era tan abundante que sólo me las arreglé para tomar algunas rebanadas de pizza. Sin duda recomendaría este restaurante.

Fui a comer a este restaurante el 10/12/15 y había sido para las comidas al aire libre en Whetstone muchas veces, así que sabía que el estilo y la calidad de la comida que se puede esperar.

We have always had a good meal here but can be very busy. Very reasonable pricing, al in all a good experience.

I have been here 5 times now and the food is always very good and of a high standard. No point in going to one of the chain restaurants when you can have authentic food always served to a high standard at the same price.

Great tasting excellent value food and wine waiters create a lovely atmosphere makes a nice change to have food served hot on hot plates such a large choice of dishes difficult to choose fantastic selection of starters .Attracts many Italian customers which adds to the atmosphere.

Really impressed here, lovely food and waiting staff excellent with the three children on our table even when one broke a galss, fabulous mussels, chicken, fish, pasta and great value children's meal £6.80 spag bol/fish and chips and other meals, soft drink and ice cream - excellent value all round!

Very nice place with a variety of food. All the 5 dishes ordered were tasty and excellently value. The staff were very friendly and attentative and recommended many of the dishes. I would recommend this restaurant.

Nuestro amigo es de Luxemburgo y le encanta italiano. Así que al aire libre era la primera opción. Una vez más excelente comida caliente y un magnífico ambiente. El servicio es muy bueno y servicial. He leído algunas de las críticas que algunos mal, algunas buenas y tengo que decir que hablar ya que encontrar y que es; tuvimos una agradable velada, una buena relación calidad-precio y nos impresionó nuestro amigo! Always great value so you can eat out more often. The food is very good and the portions are of good size. The staff are very friendly and the service is prompt.

We have been here a few times and the food is always nice at a decent price. The service is good. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food comes pretty quickly. Would go again.

Needed a decent meal before going into London after disappointment with Prezzos (opposite) previously was amazed a great atmosphere, friendly waiters and good value food. Plenty of space between tables and pleasant surroundings.
