Alex's Bakery in Manchester

We ordered an afternoon tea from Alex’s Bakery through Groupon for our mum on Mother’s Day, and it was hands down the best afternoon tea we’ve ever had! Since there were three of us, we went for the afternoon tea for four — and we’re so glad we did. The portions were generous, and the staff kindly provided boxes so we could take home any leftovers. The variety was amazing, with something for everyone, and we loved that you’re not limited to just tea or coffee — hot chocolate was also an option, which was a lovely touch. Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The whole experience felt special from start to finish, and we’ll definitely be going back. Highly recommend Alex’s Bakery to anyone looking for a fantastic afternoon tea!

Viniendo de Belfast para una estancia de fin de semana en Manchester para el cumpleaños de mi esposa reservé el té de la tarde en Alex’s Bakery para una sorpresa. Nos acompañaron nuestro hijo y su prometido y qué puedo decir. Cuando llegó a nuestra mesa nos reímos de la cantidad de comida en los puestos de pasteles había tanto que no pudimos terminar todo, pero el personal era tan agradable y nos proporcionó cajas de pasteles para que nos llevemos lo que no terminamos. Todo estaba delicioso, fresco y muy bien presentado. También había pedido un pastel de cumpleaños de terciopelo rojo y nuevamente fue el pastel húmedo más hermoso que hemos tenido. No puedo recomendar Alex’s Bakery lo suficientemente alto, incluso si quieres un té / café y algo dulce que no te decepcionará y el personal es muy agradable a pesar de que estaban muy ocupados, lo que dice mucho que eran muy atentos. No puedo esperar a nuestras próximas visitas y Gracias a todos en Alex’s Bakery por todo.

Arrived, seemed friendly and prompt at serving. Ordered 3 slices of cake, told that it would be bought to our table. We sat down after waiting around 15 minutes and watching the waitress not sort our order out and just stand on her phone scrolling through social media, I eventually stood up and had to remind her that we were still waiting for our food. I could forgive this if the place was rammed but, there was one other table. Terrible service and to top it off the cake wasn't even that good either, won't be returning.

The BEST ham and cheese toastie ever. I go there most Thursday mornings before my meeting, they are so welcoming, I just love the place and the coffee is excellent

Fabulous stumble upon. Lovely atmosphere in this small but delicious cafe! Cupcakes are unreal. No pictures cause it was enjoyed there was no time.

Lovely scrambled eggs and bacon on sourdough - cooked perfectly (thanks Megan!). This is a great quiet little independent cafe on Deansgate. I’ve been twice and will be going again. Thanks to Alicia and Izzy for the nice service.

Delicious lunch at really good prices. Fresh soup, lovely paninis, great cupcakes and delicious hot drinks. Great service, lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend.

we've been to alex's god knows how many times. we've never tried the savoury foods but the brownies are always insanely good. we've tried almost every flavour of brownie including blondies and they're just lovely, fresh, moist, and the choice of flavours is pretty great, especially for a smaller shop. we've started buying boxes of six and freezing them at home so we can have them as a weekend treat - even after freezing, they're lush.

We visiting one Friday afternoon to this cute bakery nestled towards the end of deansgate, backing onto the great northern. Serving cupcake, brownies and cheesecake (could have been more but that’s all we saw), this cute space has outdoor and limited indoor seating and is wow. The cakes are gorgeous and the staff are. Very friendly, I can’t recommend highly enough, we bought more than we could eat to take home and have the next day too!

I popped in to browse the cupcakes and brownies/blondies…if you’ve got a sweet tooth, you definitely won’t leave empty-handed! I eventually decided on the chocolate Rocky Road (there’s also a white chocolate version) and it was simply beaut. There’s indoor and outdoor seating, too!

Came here for some munch as we had to catch a train. Insanely high prices for small portions. I had a bacon/ scrambled egg on toast (around £8). Literally one slice of absolutely rock-solid sourdough bread with a handful of scrambled egg (overdone) and 3 rashers of bacon (overdone) on top. Staff were friendly enough and I understand inflation and the Cost of living crisis and Manchester prices but it was a bit ridiculous.

We stumbled upon this place as we were early for an appointment nearby. The coffee was delicious and the cakes were absolutely to die for. So light and fluffy sponge and really creamy topping. The prices are very reasonable and the seating was inviting, clean and comfortable and tidy. We will return

What a shop, amazing choice of cakes, brownies and cookies! Alway going to be good when you have to que for a cake, worth the wait tho.

We go here most Sunday for coffee and cake. It always restoring and motivates us to finish our walk. The choice is excellent from cup cakes,loaf cake, gateaux, brownies and blondies

Tea wasn't good. Coffee acceptable. Sweet treats are plentiful and good for sweet tooth types. Not cheap. Bit average overall

I absolutely loved the afternoon tea I had from here and was absolutely stuffed from it! I would recommend going here for afternoon tea. You can book a table online, which is very easy to do.

I used to really like coming here but after trying a few of the cakes they all seem to be stale as if they have been frozen for a long time rather than freshly made and not much flavour. The icing is also very hard and a bit sickly with a taste of pure butter instead of frosting. The staff are also quite rude and spend a lot of time just standing around talking. Unfortunately won’t be coming back.

Beautiful little cake shop located in Deansgate mews, not only does it smell amazing when you walk in cakes/brownies & blondies are delicious, great selection of hot/cold drinks.

The bakery was a lovely find, cosy and warm cafe as was the welcome. The shop was lovely and clean and the selection of cakes was a hit with adults and kids alike.
