Very pleasant dinner in a cosy restaurant in Kensington. The food was good but not incredible. The staff were nice but not incredible and definitely not Egyptian. The atmosphere was very cosy and romantic but it was also empty on a Saturday night so seems like it’s not too popular of a place. We enjoyed the food but were hoping for more Egyptian specialities that would strike us as different. Most of the menu offered things you would find elsewhere. We paid 72£ for two starters and two mains which seemed reasonable given the location. I’d recommend the baked okra which was delicious.

Fab service and really friendly staff, good looked good but taste wise it while it started pleasantly enough each dish tasted similar to the last so rather than a harmony of flavours changing to make music a one note drone drowned out the others. Not what you want with a testing menu. Hopefully just the chef having a bad day

Walked in Alexandrie after the restaurant across the street where we were planning to dine was having a private party. We were hesitant because the place was empty however Alexandrie did not disappoint. The Tiger King Prawns were perfectly presented as were all plates and were delicious. I had the Molokheya with Chicken and the wife had the Traditional Oven Baked Okra (Bamia) with Lamb. Both very tasty. We weren’t planning on having dessert however the server requested we try their Mango Parfait; I’m a chocoholic, however this dessert was on point. Thanks Alexandrie! This was a great way for us to end our trip to London. John - South Carolina

They didn't have the green soup, lamb shanks or chicken when we went here. The waiter was friendly and polite but was unable to offer alternatives, although the free hummus and babaganoush dips with some flatbread were welcome after the initial disappointment. The food was tasty, however the options were limited, even if all options were available. It also feels like this place might be better for takeout than going in for a meal as there was noone around, however 5 minutes down the road on High St. Ken, places were packed... not sure how long this place will be here if this is a typical experience, tbh.

MORE AT Google

Just last summer, my brother made the fortuitous discovery of this fantastic Egyptian eating emporium in our neighbourhood. Egyptian food? In London? This was a first for us and I was eager to test it out after a resoundingly positive experience from my brother, who only popped in to find out more about the cuisine and the menu out of curiosity; yet the warm and welcoming staff offered him a few samples to test out and take home and he loved what he tried. Shortly after, he went back for dinner and tasted a selection from their a la carte menu and, waxing lyrical about everything he ate, he said I would love the food too. Being a VERY (!) picky vegan, this was all the endorsement I needed and proposed the restaurant to a couple of friends to try out, as clearly this is something of a hidden gem as none of the friends I mentioned Alexandrie to (who also live in the near vicinity) knew it. I was MORE than impressed - the restaurant, besides being an elegant, minimalist-chic dining room with signature chandeliers graced by attentive and genial table service, offered a vegan menu! This was a very promising start, but I initially had no idea what to expect food-wise. My brother said go for the soups and the okra dishes and, of course, I tried all three (with a couple of menu amendments and lovely Kacha, the waitress on hand to help, was only too happy to accommodate my "no croutons" and "no pitta bread" requests respectively, for example): the 'Red Lentil Velouté' is, indeed, "full-bodied", as the menu described, and oh-so-flavoursome and I am a HUGE fan of lentils and lentil soups anyway (I can't get enough of Indian dal), so this was a winner. Next up, I simply had to try something uniquely Egyptian, so I was recommended the famous herb soup, 'Molokheya', for size. I loved the consistency - which had a glassy appearance and filled to the brim with healthy greens, and what I particularly loved, apart from the earthy herb flavours, was the fact neither of their soups are oily at all, which can be a problem with other cuisines. It was all healthy, light yummy dishes, which appeal to my clean-living tastes. Finally, the delicious okra dish, 'Bamia', Oven-Baked Okra - a vegetable stew with a coriander sauce was my main course - I love okra as a vegetable, but I find that my other favourite cuisine, Indian Asian cooking, usually prepares these yummy "ladies fingers" vegetables in too greasy and oily a manner, as they're normally fried. Not so with the Egyptian/Middle Eastern Asian-style where these are slow cooked to perfection. Even if you are not a vegan or vegetarian, you will find plenty of meaty surprises for you to enjoy on the menu (I had no idea that foie gras was first invented by the Egyptians over 2000 years ago, but I am so encouraged to read that the Alexandrie restaurant elect to utilise duck liver that has NOT been forcibly fattened - let's hope one day a vegan-friendly version is all the rage!) I cannot wait for Alexandrie to reopen next month, after this unnecessarily-long and economically-devastating lockdown, and to see Kacha and the team again. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Looking forward to enjoying these Egyptian culinary treasures with the whole family!

We ordered traditional tasting menu and except desserts, food was very delicious. Portions were good. HOWEVER, I wouldn't go back because the male staff will talk to every single person in the restaurant, non-stop and extremely loudly. This was very annoying as we went there after a long day to relax and enjoy our meals. It is also weird the loudest person in the restaurant was a member of staff.

Super delicious! We had a fantastic experience of Egyptian food after Alexandrie reopened. For starters, we had Alexandrian liver which was fried with green peppers, Mediterranean ratatouille and Tiger king prawns served with a delicious sauce. For mains, we had bamia (oven-baked baby okra), stuffed courgette, lamb shank, and sea bass fillet. The okra, which was served with warm pitta bread, was tender and absorbed the sauce well. The courgette was stuffed with spiced rice, which was slightly al dente, and accompanied with spiced yogurt. The lamb shank, which was marinated in spices and served with mash potatoes, was very tender and the sauce was delicious. The sea bass was pan-fried, had crispy skin and was served with cauliflower puree and two thin slices of citrus fruits which complimented the fish. We were recommended to have fatta (baked riced with fried bread with a slight kick of garlic in the bottom) which also went very well with the okra and lamb shank as the rice and fried bread absorbed the sauces. For the desserts, we had Om Ali which was warm and creamy with a lot of baked almond flakes, handmade pistachio baklava (not sickly sweet as you normally get) with pistachio ice cream on the side and dark chocolate fondant. A cup of hibiscus tea finalized our perfect evening at Alexandrie. The staff were attentive, but not intrusive, and made suggestions for the wine based on the main dishes we ordered. It was an enjoyable and relaxing experience of going to restaurant in London after a long time. You should have booked a table by now, especially you have read my lengthy description.

(Original) Just a short walk away from the shops on Kensington High Street this refined restaurant serves a variety of delicious fare with magical flavours inspired by Egypt’s second city, Cleopatra’s Alexandria. Delicious twists on Mediterranean cuisine. We had a fantastic combination of starters that tantalised every taste bud - beetroot-cured salmon with charred cucumber, Mediterranean ratatouille (I haven’t had it this delicious) and silky smooth, smoky aubergine. For mains, I went for the oven-baked bamia (okra) and lamb. Okra is one of my favourite vegetables but, to the many sceptics, this dish will convert you. Full of flavour and the meltingly gorgeous lamb that went very well with the fatta rice – fluffy white rice over pieces of toasted bread, giving texture to the entire meal. For dessert, I had a creamy mehalabeya, a smooth and more-ish pannacotta-like dessert, from milk and mastic (the resin of the mastic tree – also known as Arabic gum, or tears of Chios, where the tree grows), topped with sugary pistachio. There’s an excellent wine list, focusing on the French classics, to perfectly accompany this wonderful medleys of flavours. I was particularly impressed by the staff and manager who, with their quiet grace and courtesy, made us feel very welcome.

Quite a nice place to go for Egyptian cuisine. I like lentil soup and the Ethical foie parfait are good choice for starter. We tried the Molokheya and poussin for main. Molokheya is a traditional Egyptian soup with a slimy texture. The flavour is good and the grilled baby chicken is tender and juicy. The lamb shank is also cooked to perfect. Unfortunately, their desserts are not as good. I’m quite disappointed with the baklava so the whole meal finished at a bit of low.

This is the second time I went to Aladino's; this time to celebrate my wedding anniversary. I was again truly impressed with this restaurant -- easily one of my favourite restaurants in London in this price range! In fact, I normally don't write restaurant reviews (laziness), but this one definitely deserves the effort. The food is consistently excellent -- not the cheapest choice in the area, but definitely worth every penny! The foie gras was delicious, and the lamb is simply to die for. Both the Egyptian and the international desserts are a delight. The staff is very attentive yet unobtrusive, and the interior is very tastefully designed. The wine list is extensive and contains great choices for every budget. The restaurant has a large lower ground floor that can cater big(ger) groups.

No kebabs here, this is fine dining at its best. Our waiter was attentive, and talked us through the whole menu which such precision and knowledge; it certainly helped my decision! For starter, I had the Foie Parfait which was presented in two ways: Egyptian and French. Completely ethical and delicious (with a great explanation from the Head Waiter). The Harissa spiced Chicken, as a main was to die for, such a huge portion and very tasty. £19 for 2 courses at such a delightful place with the finest dining was great value - I was stuffed! I didn't know too much about Alexandrian food before but now I'm hooked! It's not what you'd expect, only better. It is what I could describe as "Mediterranean", very international with a slight touch of the Middle East. I often pass by, and I'm glad I've finally gone. It never seems busy but when you go inside, you see why - the main restaurant is downstairs! I ate upstairs (where they have 4 tables), and the sunshine beaming through the windows just made everything sparkle. The only criticism I have is regarding the air conditioning - it was quite cold! Luckily, they moved me to the next table, and it was much better. Make sure your table isn't underneath the fan, and you'll be fine. It is fine dining, amazing flavours, great location; I plan to return with my colleagues for dinner soon!

Although the interior design is very pleasant and the food good, I would never recommend Aladinos, until there is an experienced head waiter to head the staff, as the present waiters although very nice lack the savoir faire and guidance, that is required in expensive restaurants. We arrived early for quiet dinner and important conversation, and were seated under freezing air con, but when it was turned off, the room became stifling. The restaurant was entirely empty but for us, until our charming waiter seated a whole group of incredibly noisy people at the next table.

The restaurant has a beautiful interior and the food was excellent. I had lots of dishes on the tasting menu I wouldn't normally order that were excellent

We went to Aladino's on a Saturday night and I was a bit nervous as I had insisted to book there for our party of six after reading several reviews. I was not disappointed. On the contrary everything was excellent. I had a really enjoyable dinner. The atmosphere was lovely. The service was impeccable: both our waiters were very helpful and attentive, friendly and professional at the same time, they couldn't have done more to make us happy! And last but definitely not least the food was amazing. We opted for the seven-course taster menu. I was not new to Egyptian food and found that all the dishes were the best I had ever had. All exquisitely prepared. My favourite was the lamb which was superlative: so rich, tender and succulent! Without me knowing my husband had ordered a bottle of champagne unmasking the fact that it was my birthday. At the moment of the dessert a surprise (and delicious) extra dessert with a very sparkling candle arrived for me, it was a nice touch and very appreciated. Pity the prices are on the high side, I can't see any other reason why it's not extremely busy!

My husband, son, and I were visiting London in late April 2016 and wanted to have a good middle eastern meal. Much to our delight we stumbled upon Aladino's, which was within walking distance to our hotel. The restaurant is very nicely decorated. The service was great! very attentive and courteous. The food was excellent. Everything we had was delicious. This is a true neighborhood gem. We will return the next time we are in London!

I dinned in Aladino's on Easter Sunday with friends and their young children. The staff were friendly and polite. It is a fine dinning restaurant where you get to enjoy food which is subtle in quality. I did not know what to expect as had never tried Egyptian food. What is more, I am picky with food and would not touch food which is not made with fresh and clean ingredients. We ordered a few dishes and shared them. I liked king prawns and slow cooked lamb shanks the most. You have got to try their desserts. I really liked the milk pudding and Mango parfait. This is the one for you if you want to try traditional Egyptian food with a contemporary twist and would like to spend some quality time with friends.

Great food, lovely ambience and incredible value on the tasting menu for a relatively posh place. Sadly this relatively new place wasn't very crowded on a Saturday... People in the neighborhood, let's keep this place going.

Recently took my girlfriend here and we loved everything we ordered. Pedro was a pleasant, knowledgable and efficient server and the owner himself came to the table to ensure we were enjoying our dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This is authentic and delicious Egyptian cuisine from the Alexandrian region. There is a large selection of fine wines and the bartenders can perfectly mix any cocktail upon request. The atmosphere is romantic, the service is of the highest standard and we had a great time. We will certainly become regulars!

Never had Alexandrian cuisine before and was very impressed. We shared a great selection of appetizers with quite unique spices and then I enjoyed one of the best lamb dishes I have ever eaten ("Egyptian Style Slow-Roasted Spiced Shank Of Lamb"). Very pleasant and sophisticated atmosphere. The wine list is heavy on France and a bit light on Italy and Spain but that may well change over time, as the restaurant just opened recently. In sum, highly recommended!

Aladino offers a unique combination of extraordinary value, top-notch cuisine, and best-of-London service. Everything there is about attention to detail and showing love to the guests at all time. The Egyptian meals are delicious, generously portioned, and very well-presented. Aladino does an amazing job in making each guest feel special. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough for a romantic, business, or special occasion dinner. Get a drink at the lower level bar after dinner. The overall value is truly exceptional.

Great spot. Not too casual - great evening atmosphere. Amazing sharing plates and the best hummus and bread I've had in a very long time. Chicken shawarma and barbecue carrots not to be missed!
