Breafast was good although I don't eat cereal the was any amount and two large jugs of orange juice with jug of milk, brown or white bread for toast plenty of jams and really good coffee. Three ladies went up to Southport for a conference and stayed at the Alexandra and Victoria hotel in Southport. Bedrooms are very small with two single beds and one fold out bed frame. The first night we did not rest because there is no sound proofing and you can hear all the comings and goings. The douvet's are so narrow that you cannot cover comfortably. The 'z bed' which was actually a metal bed frame with half an inch of covering had no mattress - this was slept on for the three nights. In the morning I went to reception to ask if I could have a wider douvet and a mattress for the bed frame. We received blankets which were more comfortable. The bed frame had a duvet for a mattress. Later in the evening when we came back to the hotel, there were only two cups in the bedroom and we fancied a cup of tea. I went to the reception to ask for a cup or mug and was told: 'You are so demanding!' I had no wish to remain in that hotel a moment longer but had no choice as they don't give refunds. Incidentally, they say they don't take payment immediately but they do. They will give you every excuse for that! There breakfast menu illustrates two sossages and two bacon strips but you only get one of each. Very poor management and not a nice atmosphere.

We booked our Christmas Day meal here, in early November having seen the advertisement in the local paper. At the time of booking we asked them if they could deal with a couple of vegetarians, they said that would be fine, and accepted the booking. When we turned up on Christmas Day, the menu had no vegetarian option. When requested, were informed that nothing was available. The one vegetarian with the party (the other veggi was lucky enough not to be able to make it) ended up with carrots and sprouts for their Christmas dinner, as even the roast potatoes had been cooked in meat juices. No attempt was made to provide anything whatsoever. As for the meat option, it represented everything that used to be considered poor about British restaurants: soggy overcooked vegetables, gelatinous gravy, tough meat. Very poor indeed! I live in Southport, and will never consider visiting this restaurant again, and would advise any visitors to avoid it.

Small portions, expensive and very overpriced, cheap ingredients, nasty manager who will give abuse if you dare to complain. Changed managementnt about a year or so ago, and has gone from a gem to the worst restraunt and pub food in southport, even though it claims to be 4star! The great chef has also left under obvious dissagrement of this managers lack of morals. Needs to replace the manager or bring back the previous or close. Manager should be ashamed of how he has destroyed one of the best restraunts in southport!

Used to eat here a lot, even the owners used to eat in thier own restraunt and was always nice atmosphere. However, food quality very poor, portion sizes not even enough to fill up a 5 year old little girl! When complain, met with a barrage of ride insulting coments about how I know nothing about service or food, which is wrong as 22 years in higher management in this field! Manager just trying to justify why he is failing, sack him and bring back previous, even lost the great chef as he dissagreed with what crap he was being asked to serve up! Avoid at all costs!!!!!

We came here a while ago after we tasted food at the Southport food festival and the food then was absolutely superb. We went back quite recently and at 7pm on a Friday night the restaurant was empty, should have realised then that something was wrong. I ordered garlic mushrooms, when they came they were greasy, badly cooked mushrooms on an anaemic, microwaved white bagel with lettuce, a slice of cucumber and slice of tomato (very basic of salads). I ate a few mushrooms but left most of it as it was quite dreadful. When the waitress collected our dishes she did look a little uncomfortable as I clearly hadn't eaten much. The worst was yet to come, hubby ordered "fall off the bone" lamb shank. It was tough as old boots with rock hard vegetables. My lasagne was really dry, no succulent juices or melting cheese, it looked like it was a ready meal that had been overcooked, then microwaved to remove as much moisture and flavour as possible, then served with what was quite possibly the same dire salad that came with the starter, The waitress did admit that the former chef had been sacked but even somebody with basic kitchen skills could rustle up something better than this. Avoid at all costs.

I went for lunch today, with three friends who specifically asked me to book the Dining Room having eaten there previously and being delighted. I ordered a Steak and Ale pie that was actually mushroom and steak (in that order!) I hate mushrooms, and wouldn't have ordered them had the menu specified them as an ingredient. Nothing on the plate was made in their kitchen - it was all bought-in frozen and then microwaved. I can honestly say that it is easily the worst food I have ever had in Southport (and I live here and eat out often). My friends were all very disappointed with their meals, too. We didn't stay for desserts, going instead to a decent restaurant for those! A greasy spoon or inferior pub would have served a similar standard (cheaper!) There are so many excellent eateries in Southport, so the Dining Room is totally off my menu for the future.

My husband and I were treated to a meal here for my husbands retirement. The place was dark and dingy and the reception area was confusing. Didn't look like a restaurant the staff did not appear to be happy. Wish we hadn't bothered the food was dreadful the steaks were charred and the onion rings looked as of they had come out of a tin. Seven members of the party demanded a refund which they did get. We would never go there again or recommend it to anyone.

Ordered Breakfast via Just Eat, 1.5hrs after ordering the food hadn't t turned up, I called them and was told by a man the food was leaving the café just then and should be with me in a few mins he they apologized as they had been really busy. 2hrs after I ordered the food I attended the Café to collect the food to be met by the most arrogant and rude staff (all apart from 1 lovely lady, who did try to help me). No food had even been made and when I advised I had come to collect a Just Eat order which I had order 2hrs ago I was told "and what" I explained that I had called and spoke to a man who advised it was leaving but it still hadn't turned up. The young lad who I was speaking with just shrugged his shoulders. I asked for a refund and was told by the young lad he cannot authorize a refund so I ask to speak to someone who could as there still was no food for me to collect. He said he would get the boss. The 'Boss Lady' appeared and asked me "what do you want" I explained again what had happened the 'Boss Lady' advised "We have been busy we are a Café what do you expect"? A lovely lady who was also present was looking to see if the food had been made and was bagged up on the side to no avail. I once again advised the 'Boss Lady' that I had ordered and paid for food 2hrs earlier in good faith, I had called and was advised that the food was on its way and I understood they had been busy so I called down to collect myself, that I was quite ill and that's the whole reason why I had ordered via Just eat in the 1st place for a delivery and I didn't really want to come out the house but I thought I'd run down to the café to collect as it still hadn't arrived but the food still hadn't even been made so could I have a refund. The 'Boss lady' told me they don't give refunds. you have to go through to Just eat. I turned to walk out of the Café when the 'Boss lady' then asked me stupidly if I no longer wanted the food??? I turned to her and said you haven't even made it, ill do what you say Ill go through Just Eat for a refund but I will also leave a review turned and opened the door to leave. The young lad shouted something quite derogatory to me so I turned and said don't treat me feel like a horrible person! Once outside I get in my car and look up to see the 'Boss Lady' running out of the Café like a lunatic screaming and running at me "not to slam the Café door" she was obviously wanting a fight, I am no fool or will I be intimidated so I got out of my car to speak with her. The lovely lady from the café had to drag her back into the café. Obviously her Café door means a lot to her! (In all honesty I don't even remember closing the door). I was very shook up and really not very well plus my son was in the car witnessing this I thought I would just go home and contact Just Eat. 3hrs after this incident some random man turned up at my door screaming and shouting at me to not slam his Café door again and never come to his Café again! As if I would ever go there and give them my money after what had happened anyway is laughable. This man ranted and raved at me and my 2 teenage sons threatening to come and smash my windows in and my 2 sons faces in. I got it all on my Ring door bell and contacted the Police. Not only did this woman try to attack me outside the Café for allegedly "slamming the Café door" but then got her, I'm assuming partner to attend my home 3hrs later to threaten me... Is this something normal business'/people do now a days? This was reported to the police as they clearly have broken GDPR rules as well as their threatening behavior but also Just Eat and the ICO. Never again will I ever order through Just Eat or with this Café! I also stress to everyone else, don't let them have your home address as you never know when they will turn up on your door step. Don't ask for a refund when you have paid them for food that they don't deliver or even make.... Most importantly DO NOT SLAM THIER CAFE DOOR!
