We took my parents for a Sunday roast to celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary and my Mums birthday, what a gem of a place. Staff were friendly and inviting and the food was really good! My husband and I opted for the small roast dinner ( Roast chicken pic) but my parents opted for the regular roast ( Roast beef pic). the portion size for either was generous and everything was fresh, cooked perfectly and piping hot. Delicious. We will most definitely be back, thank you Albion, highly recommend a visit.

It was so good to visit The Albion for drinks at both ends of a 6-mile circular walk among the hills surrounding Verwood, at the start of our annual break in nearby Purbeck. We had a lovely warm welcome from Martin the landlord, & he this is about some of the pub's unusual history - where it was once positioned adjacent to a railway line (he also showed us the old defunct brick railway bridge in the pub's garden, & the pics of the pub in days-gone-by adorning the walls). It's a big & bright place, & we enjoyed relaxing outside with our drinks. We didn't dine this time, though we were really impressed with the menu which had lots of veggie options - and can see from other people's reviews how good the food here is. You can't visit Verwood without a visit here - we're looking forward to returning soon!

Great pub ,definitely NOT closed, Very welcoming and great food, good garden for the children to run around in and dogs are welcome ( on a lead).

We stopped here for a lunch during a Saturday ramble. The pub is nicely decorated on the outside and cosy and welcoming inside. They serve the usual draught ciders and lagers and at least one cask ale. We sat outside as it was a lovely sunny day and there were plenty of tables on either the patio or a smaller grassy area. The only drawback with this was the proximity to the road which was quite busy and a little noisy. When we ordered our drinks and food the owner told us that according to one review they served Michelin starred food, we thought that he was pulling our leg and said that we were waiting to be impressed. I have to say that I have never eaten in a Michelin restaurant but if they ever did pub food i imagine that this is what it would be like! We ordered the pie of the day which happened to be steak, bacon and Stilton and as advertised was home made. This was served with either proper chips ( not fries) , peas and gravy or mashed potato, cauliflower and cabbage with gravy. It was fantastic. The other member of the group had scampi and chips. We all agreed that it was one of the best quality pub meals that we had eaten, piping hot, really tasty and the veggies were cooked with a slight crunch and not soft and overcooked as a lot of pubs serve. The puddings were a slice of chocolate brownie cake, steamed treacle sponge and a sticky toffee pudding , all served with a choice of either ice cream or custard , once again absolutely delicious. The menu was not as extensive as some but they served traditional dishes and did them very very well. I can thoroughly recommend this establishment.

from the first sip of Guinness, I knew this was going to be an exceptional visit. The beef bacon and brie pie was from another world and the gravy from another galaxy. I have never had a better gravy or sauce in all the restaurants I have used on world travels. Exceptional. The treacle sponge and custard was a light and delicious way to end a meal up there with best. An exceptional surprise.

Popped in for a pint with Mum and Dad (very hard to please my Dad!) and we all loved the friendly atmosphere. Great service, especially from Angelique behind the bar giving table service in the sunny garden! Recommend to anyone local or passing by!! Even brought a fresh bowl of water out for the pooch! Top job Albion, we'll be back soon!!

Enjoyed a delicious meal with friends at The Albion last night . Made the decision to try new additions to the menu , which is amazing may I say . We were greeted by smiling helpful staff and for the first time decided to eat in the bar which was very relaxing. All the food was very tasty and beautifully presented , accompanied by a good glass of wine , we went for the kofta and prawns as starters , sharing amongst our party as nobody could make a decision. The hunters chicken for main was lovely and served with fresh hand cut salad not limp bagged greenery!!! Two chose the chilli which went down very well ….. they didn’t offer to share that !!!! Highly recommend trying the new larger menu , I’m sure you won’t be disappointed

Visited The Albion regularly over Christmas and the New Year. Such a great local warm and friendly pub, happy busy atmosphere, regular live music, great food, always welcoming. Friendly staff and nice to see meal prices haven't been hiked as some pubs have done, very affordable.

No central heating in bar just an oil radiator in middle of floor. Over £13 for a wine and bitter no ambience whatsoever no return for us

I've eaten at The Albion regularly this year, a great find, seriously good food, varied menu, lots of specials that are updated often, great atmosphere, lovely friendly staff, good looking restaurant, quick service, however packed it gets in there. Great local pub / restaurant. Reluctant to try anywhere else because this place is so reliable. The regular event nights get booked up fast so best to get in there quickly.

Had a very pleasant lunch here today with a group of fellow walkers. The dining area was very spacious and light and the lunch menu had something on it for everyone, including Vegan and gluten-free options. The waiter was very pleasant and helpful and the food, while a little slow coming out, was enjoyed by everyone. One of us asked for coffee in a mug which he found while the rest was served in their usual cups and saucers. The food looked a little expensive but as they had a 2 for £20 offer on worked out okay. Very happy to reccomend them and I would definitely eat there again.

I was a little disappointed in the menu as there didn't seem to be much choice. The food was OK but nothing amazing. The waitress was lovely and very helpful and the wine was very nice. Looking at other reviews we were hoping for some options like steak, lamb shank, maybe a steak and ale pie. This menu was everything with chips type of menu.

Absolute disgusted in the way myself and my family were treated was very rudely spoken to by a member of staff paul I believe the owner, food was very over priced my partner has been ill since we ate ther yesterday evening he is so unwell he can’t get out of bed only to be sick in the toilet the plates were dirty chipped benches were broken but still not removed my kids were lucky they did not hurt themselves there is also 2 broken slabs witch I tripped over twice luckily I was not holding my baby will not be going back such a shame as I’m all for my local business but I’m very disappointed ☹️

A wonderful time spent at The Albion Inn tonight . Dinner in lovely surroundings was delicious. Started with the salt and chilli squid then had a mixed grill with a fillet steak that you could cut like butter , absolutely amazing. The peppercorn sauce on the side was a lovely addition too . It would have been rude not to try the tiramisu baileys cocktail for dessert, heaven in a glass . As always greeted with a smile by all the staff and lovely being able to pass on our compliments to the chef . So nice to be able to enjoy a delicious meal on our doorstep, meaning we can try the wines on offer too . Highly recommended

Wow, all I can say is that roast dinner we had was amazing….. topside of beef was cooked perfectly and a good amount on the plat to! Staff were so lovely and welcoming. We will definitely be coming back! Thankyou Albion,l!

Good choice of food and very tasty, service was friendly and courteous. We booked for the quiz night and decided to stay on. The locals made us feel very welcome and we all had an enjoyable evening.

I ate at The Albion last night, second time i have had a meal there now and feel they deserve a review. The food is exceptional, i had game pie last week and lamb shank last night, both cooked to perfection, full of flavour. Served by such lovely, happy, friendly staff in a beautiful clean and classy restaurant. This is a great find, a lovely country pub in beautiful surroundings and the fact that they always seem to be busy is a good indication the landlord and his team are giving their customers what they want. Looking forward to coming back.

The Albion used to be deserted on a Friday night. Then Paul Williams came along and turned it into the perfect village pub. It's now got everything you want. Interesting locals, friendly and smiling bar staff, good hearty food with that touch of 'special' meaning you wouldn't be able to knock it up at home in the microwave for half the price and great beers from local Sixpenny Best Bitter, Timothy Taylor's Landlord through to Guinness and a range of regular and premium lagers. To top it all, Paul arranges local top-class acts on a regular basis, such as Jax the other evening, who came to perform her Adele tribute. The pub was packed and we all had a marvellous night. To your continuing good success, Paul and your excellent team - you have rescued the local pub for us.

Stopped for a quick lunch. Sat down friendly welcome was offered choice from the specials menu and had recommended liver which I particularly love. The starter I had was garlic mushrooms which were absolutely gorgeous. The maincourse liver and onions with mash potato raw particularly...

We decided to eat here as it was close to our campsite but wish we hadn’t! Most of the menu was crossed out and they took forever to take our order. The was another table which looked like they were friends of the owners we presume as he was talking to them the whole time and we were invisible! Eventually someone took our order and once again waited ages once it arrive the portions were small considering the price. Decided to have dessert and waited ages again for someone to take our order and the waitress couldn’t even describe what something was on the dessert order she said she would go and ask but took ages and then come back and apologised no one was around to ask. Would not recommend unless you like waiting around or your a friend of the owners

What a truly delightful afternoon enjoying a delicious Sunday roast with fine wine listening to the delightful sound of Amelia playing the piano . Cannot fault the food , service or ambiance . Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who’s smiles could be seen despite the masks . We were made to feel so welcome and would highly recommend booking for a Sunday lunch to remember. A joy to be back dining out .... but indoors .

Heard good things about this place but was very disappointed. They had run out of the veggie Sunday roast option (which we all needed!). Very small portions given despite absence of nut roast. No draught cider, ran out of the limited pud, no coffee available, very slow service & poor customer service generally. Took 3 or 4 attempts to get the (over priced) bill! Would take a lot for me to bother returning. So many other places that are much friendlier & better prepared. I'm told one of the 2 ladies toilets had a door you couldn't even shut, let alone lock!!

Enjoyed another Asian night take away from our local pub . As always the food was delicious and all the added extras made the experience even better . My friend and I ordered a takeaway from the Albion’s special Asian Night menu.The food was delivered for free, on time and piping hot!The presentation was just beautiful and attention to detail was fabulous.It was handed over in a red paper bag and inside there were fortune cookies, chopsticks and of course the food. In cute little takeaway boxes. The portions were huge! We had so much food. Plenty for lunch tomorrow.We’ll definitely be ordering from The Albion again!

We've often had a lovely Sunday roast from the Albion in the past but this is the first takeaway during lockdown and it didn't disappoint.Delicious in every way and so much we had to wait to eat our yummy puddings!

Great food served hot on hot plates by friendly professional staff. Worth a visit as the stuffed chicken and roast beef are full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Paul the landlord and Claire are just so welcoming and doggy friendly. What a bonus it’s now on our doorstep as we have just moved in to Verwood.

Our absolute favourite local! Recently renovated! So cosy, modern touches. Staff are so friendly and welcoming.. we take our Labrador in with us all the time, they are so accommodating to dogs.. they even serve doggy dinners. So nice to drop in for a drink after a nice walk. Food is delicious with excellent presentation. The owners deserve all the support as they really have done such a wonderful job here.

Ventured to a pub for the first time since before lockdown . A wonderful warm welcome greeted us and many familiar faces too . Covid safe measures in place but we still felt comfortable and relaxed . Extension variety of drinks on offer and the new decor added to the ambience Have booked for dinner later this week and having pre viewed the menu it looks good . We had lunch here today for the first time. Nice place and friendly waitress/barperson. We had the Albion cheese and bacon burger with chips. The presentation was amazing and the food tasted as good as it looked! Probably one of the best burgers and chips we have ever had. Will definitely return soon. Prices were reasonable as well.

Had dinner here tonight with friends and the food was very good. The pub sadly was very quiet but the staff and the food was very good indeed. Poppy the waitress was very attentive and we all enjoyed it.

Can't rave about this place enough. Lovely atmosphere, great staff and fab food not only for humans but dogs too! Such a cute idea and our dog loved it!! Only wish I was a local so I could return again and again.

After hearing the Albion had a new landlord, we decided to give Sunday lunch a try as we live just up the road and heard it was good now. We were not disappointed. Even my mum who is a fussy eater really enjoyed her meal. Soft meat, crispy roasties, gorgeous Yorkshire pudding and veg were all wonderful. The desserts were amazing! The pub has been nicely decorated with a lovely beer garden as well. We will definitely be back!

I have camped in Verwood for 3 years now and used all the local food outlets. For some reason I had just driven past this pub assuming it would be over priced and too up market for my tastes. How wrong could I be. The pub has been overtaken by a new landlord in the last year who clearly has put the food at the heart of the pub. We had burger and chips on the Saturday which were so juicy and flavoursome and the chips were exceptional,so much so that we booked the Sunday lunch for the following day. Now I have had a few pub roast dinners over the years, always the veg are crucified or the meat massively over cooked or the roast potatoes soft.I was expecting just a warm, generous meal however this meal was cooked spot on. The attention and care to the cooking of every part of the meal was very high indeed. A truly generous portion of beef for me and pork loin for the kids. Even my children commented on the softness of the meat and the perfectly puffed Yorkshire. My daughter said it was better than my own Sunday roast and although heart broken as I have spent 25 years perfecting my roasts (and even if I do say so myself they are pretty good) I had to agree. So my compliments and thanks to Paul and his team for creating a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. We hope to see them again for Sunday dinner in October on our next visit to our caravan.

Looked at the oub's website on Monday morning. Looked good so travelled from our home to Verwood. Opened the pub door, no people. Greeted with the words are you wantin food?. Yes we replied. Then we were informed no food on a Monday. Please show this on your website. Very disappointed.

A group of 6 booked for dinner on a Saturday a couple of weeks ago after reading some of the positive reviews. It was as if we had got the wrong place! Previous reviews had mentioned Surf and Turf and Pie being great. The menu we had looked like something out of the seventie. Prawn Cocktail, Lasagne etc and it was either poor, cold or both. No apologies or explanation, just a really bad experience after higher expectations from other reviews.We will take some persuading to come back.

I made a booking for Sunday lunch for 3 people for 2.00 pm. When we arrived the conservatory was full except for the table that we had booked. As we sat down, the waitress told us that all the Sunday roasts had been sold but we could choose off the main menu. The Albion claims to serve food until 4.00 pm on Sundays. We were aghast that all the roasts had been sold when there was still 2 hours to go before they stopped serving. The main menu was limited so we decided to leave and go elsewhere. We were so disappointed given the positive feedback that the pub has received since being under new management, so much so, we are unlikely to return. The pub is in desperate need of a major makeover.Mike B

Always use the Albion when down in Verwood and after a shaky 2018/19 with a succession of landlords, it is great to see Paul and his Team restoring its reputation as a local. Food is nice and the atmosphere always friendly. Great to see it back.

Enjoyed our lunch yesterday. The food was very good as was the service. There is a special 2 and 3 course offer which we were not made aware of. A mention by a member of the team or a note on the menu would resolve this issue. We did see the A board sign outside as we drove away. However it was great to see The Albion alive and back in business. We will return.

Last year I wrote a well deserved panning of my old local The Albion. Everything was wrong from the attitude of the manager, the non existent food and absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever.Oh what a change in only a few months. A warm welcome from the new manager Paul, excellent food and a cosy atmosphere.The Albion has always lacked consistency but I am sure under the new manager Paul this will change and I for won look forward to returning in the very near future.

So refreshing to go somewhere where a vegetarian can have a decent roast, plus lots of other non ‘mushroom risotto’ options. Went in for a Sunday roast, great food, loads of veg, delicious all round especially the cauliflower cheese which was beautifully cooked. Under new management since Sept 2919. Try it if you’ve not need. Dog friendly too

Just had the most enjoyable lunch at the Albion. Party of 12, all had a great time, delicious food, great service - and very good value too. Would give it a 6 if I could!

Paul and his staff went out of their way to make sure we all had a wonderful experience. The food and drink provided was exceptional. Staff were friendly and nothing was too much of a problem for any of them. I highly recommend this establishment.

A party of 10 of us visited the Albion for Christmas dinner last night. I would class the food as good quality pub food - it was plentiful, hot, very tasty and reasonably priced. Service was fast and friendly too. Will definately be back again.

My wife and I came upon the Albion by chance last Sunday

So after reading the reviews we decided to give it a chance, we were welcomed by Paul and booked a table! We decided to eat in the bar area as we were the only people booked! We chose our drinks and meal and both were fine. The soup and pate were served and enjoyed. Steaks cooked as requested with chips,peas, and onion rings ( half a tomato would have made it even better) all serverd hot and on hot plates! GREAT.Hot food on hot plates! Just how it should be. All at a reasonable prices.

So....after a very long time away from my local, myself, the wife and a few friends went down for some drinks on a Friday night. After seeing it empty a lot of the time, it was nice to see a lot of people there enjoying themselves.

Had an absolutely fabulous evening, great vibe, great atmosphere and great management! However slightly irritated by the chefs comments against the team

after a few false starts it definitely feels like the Albion is back to being a lovely relaxed place to meet with friends for a few drinks or to have a very nice meal.

Went back to the Albion after a numbers of months, what a lovely welcome, brilliant atmosphere, friendly staff and lovely food. Wish all the team all the luck for the future, so nice to have a local pub back. Great value for money.

The Albion Inn has had a tough couple of years and these past months have been the worst. Enterprise sold the property and The Healey Group are now managing it. However, you cannot expect to put in a landlord and then not help him. This pub needs a serious rethink and it’s the owner’s responsibility to provide some help here.

Recent improvements, most notably repainting the outside that was previously a prison grey and the interior decor and furnishings.

What’s happened! beer flat and grumpy landlord. Bring back Darren, he turned the pub around in a week

Very friendly, quick service, reasonably priced and tasty food, and were able to offer kids portions on a good selection of meals. The new owners were very accommodating and family friendly.

So just popped in to support the newly appointed landlords at the Albion. The food was great, plentiful and piping hot chips...served by friendly staff. This pub most definitely deserves the locals support. My advice would be to ignore the poor reviews and make up your own mind.

Noticed the sign saying now offering limited lunch. So we took the opportunity to pop in for lunch.

OMG ... really . Cant believe my visit to this pub . Seen the car park full of vehicles I thought there was something going on .. on entering the pub was met by wot I can only say four topless hooligans slamming down shots. And the language was definitely not for the faint hearted ..walked into the bar to be approached with a thing (woman) coughing all over me asking me wot I wanted (the exit quickly) so out of politeness I asked for a pint off 6d and can only describe what I received looked like dirty pond water and didn't taste any better . My partner looked at my beer and my face and decided to play save and get a bottled beer .. even this was warm like it had just been put in fridge (no stock rotation) and a cost of £8.50 for these two drinks . Top end prices. Seated to the left of the bar and only two more older gentleman in the bar sat to to right with the same look on there faces as we had .. like the wow factor but in a wrong way ..looking round the bar to see what I can only say I av seen cleaner sqots the windows on the inside looked like they had been cleaned with a dirty nappie. And whilst I was trying my best to enjoy my £4 dirty pond water and minding my own business trying to have a conversation with my partner was rudely interrupted with baby upstairs screaming at the top of its lungs and the four hooligans swearing and shouting and getting worse every minute.. then another couple walked in asking for pint of 6d and then telling the barman it was not right .. enough is a enough we was out of there not to look back ..is this the end of what was once a lovely village pub .. so sad .have the new tenants every run a pub before .. if not , it's not for you .and if they have glad I've not been in any of them ..M

Bobbed in for a quick drink as passing through. Was served quickly, however only 2 old boys in the pub and 4 lads sat outside. The ones sat outside were rowdy and loud...swearing. There was no atmosphere in the pub, no music, no food bri g served. All you could hear was a baby screaming up stairs in the living quarters. The ale my partner was served was cloudy and didnt taste nice. We had just one then left. We heard these were releifs!! Eipublican...you need to sack your reliefs and get someone proper managers in to sort this pub out before the albion totally looses its locals/ regulars!!
