I can honestly say that the haddock and chips I had last time I visited was the best I have ever had. Perfectly cooked and very tasty fish with batter to die for. Seriously good

Had a chip roll, chips were best ive had in a long time and when in the roll hot made it soft, will definatly go again

Ridiculous that Alan's fish bar is cash only. I don't carry that much money with me for various reasons. I find it easier to pay by card .

Its been a little while since a fish n chip shop has tickkled my taste buds. This place has gone above and beyond. Ordered a large fish n chips. The fish was huge, super tasty, crispy on the outside and soft n fluffy on the inside accompanied with the perfectly fried fat chips. Was also surprised to see such an extensive menue. Fish n chips was sooo good im deffo comming back to try the kebabs and burgers. Well done alans fish bar.

Our go-to chippie which never ever disappoints. Great selection of food for a 'fish and chip' shop. Their kebabs (shish and donner) are especially good. The OAP special Small Cod and Chips is fantastic if you are catering for the needs of someone older in the family. Their chips are second to none! Definitely the best chippie for miles.

Poor quality. Ignore the good reviews on here. Been here three times for convenience and wished Id have gone to the far better Chip shop at rise park boulevard. Large portion of chips wasnt enough for 2 people. I dont like places that when you ask for large they think they can still.give you a small portion and you wont know the difference.

Poor customer service and attitude. Customers don't get informed that they only take cash when ordering via phone, you will then get advised to go and buy something from Coop and get cash back as theres no local cashpoint. Explained that it would be helpful to give this info on the phone before people make their way there, but have been told that this isn't how they do it and customers are supposed to ask. In laws have been going there for years but won't anymore. Food isn't good enough to excuse such attitude and there's enough competition

Ordered cod and chips as we had guests see the flier claiming 40 years experience. Thought would give them a try rude person answered the phone had an attitude it’s customers who pay your wage so buck up and cheer up miserable git. Food took over 2 hours to arrive upon paying it was all old and soggy chips cold nasty fish. BEST COD AND CHIPS IN ESSEX SOMEONE SAID YOU MUST HAVE BEEN DRUNK OR IN CRACK. no way is it the best I’d say the worst. Called back to complain only to be told not my problem and phone out down on me. Stay away folks plenty of better chip shops around these guys are con artists and rude. 1 star is the least I can give this shop I’d give MINUS 5 stars. Let’s just say never again tried them wish I never and saved my money.

Great food, fairly priced, especially loving the chicken however, collect. My delivery was booked 3 hours in advance and it turned up 1 hour and half late. Not acceptable. (Saturday night)

Regularly use Alan's, not had a bad meal so far! Food is always hot and fresh. Best Cod and Chips for miles! They have a fantastic selection of food, catering for most tastes. Staff are always happy and friendly. It does get busy, especially on a Friday, so if you want an early dinner, get in quickly. They offer a delivery service but at busy times you may have a wait of upto an hour, but it's definitely worth the wait!

Without the best fish and chip shop I've been to in London/Greater London. Food is delicious for a reasonable price. Staff are very friendly too which makes it even better.

Really nice food but let down by the slow service even in mid week. Doesn’t seem to be any method in serving. Three people came in after me (not telephone orders) but got their food before me ? Do not take card payments either so have to go Tesco next door and get cash back. anyway people must love it as it’s always packed. Wouldn’t even bother on a Friday. 15-20 minutes minimum wait.

Five stars just isn't enough for this establishment ! I have been getting our meals from Alan's every week and I'm not even exaggerating to say that the quality of the fish & chips is unreal. Fresh cod every time , along with fresh chips. Being a local , I have done the rounds when it comes to dabbling in the nation's favourite and let me tell you , none of them will ever compare to the quality of Alan's.

Bought a box of 3 southern fried chicken with chips, really enjoyed it and much cheaper than KFC

First time having the fish and I'm well impressed I light batter and cooked to perfection, lovely chips too also tried the Doner kebab a mixture of beef and lamb gave it the German feel different in taste absolutely wonderfull, a first class takeaway, all served by a group of great guys, cheers fellas. Lunch for 6 on Saturday, 3 chicken shish, 1 Donna kebab and 2 cod and chips, all very good, fresh salad and lovely non oily chips, served by friendly staff.

Good service and good food. Always ready to cook fresh if not ready. They have a selection of different donner meals as well as fish and chips. Gets busy Friday evening.

Can I ask if you are selling lunchtime produce in the early evening you offer a discount. I paid for fresh and got warm and soggy last night. Not nice I did not enjoy my Rock and chips. Such a disappointment. I should have a choice of discount or fresh. Not a happy customer.

They clearly prefer locals.... Waiting waiting waiting. Others coming going... I was waiting waiting waiting.... And same old same old... As everywhere else frozen food! Shish was ok chips was like anymal food... No one asked, helped me except that all was excluded and you end up paying for that stuff with no particular taste or flavour (can you call that food) a lot!
