We have come here a few times had no problem the second time we come to buy some Dubai chocolate as we opend it when we got back home there was a eyelash extension melted into the chocolate can say we will not be coming back here again

I bought a kilo of Baklava and they were Awful, didn't taste of anything but pure sugar, no pistachio taste, no walnut, just fake. Won't be buying from here again and wouldn't recommend.

I have never been to Syria but after visiting this sweet shop I know what Syria may taste like! Amazing hosts - especially Hani the Kunefe chef (big shout out to him). We got complimentary biscuits with our tea after kunefe. I will surely go back!

Bought the Dubai kunafa chocolate at a fraction of the tic tok shop price and pistachio paste. Bakery selection was great and good value for money.

I used to come here regularly but on the last 2 occasions I felt that there’s something wrong. Staff are much junior and not as friendly to customers and the sweets aren’t presented well. The quality has plummeted massively. I hope they do something and fix this. They lost me as a customer unfortunately. Photos will talk themselves (leftovers, burnt, looking suspicious)

Worst baklava I have ever tried. Pastry is not fresh and baklava too hard. Also expensive. Wouldn't buy here again.

The best kunafa in maybe the whole UK. It is made fresh and the taste is unmatched. Their pistachio kunafa (with pistachio sauce) is unmatched. They also have amazing and friendly staff.

Authentic experience Authentic food!

By chance popped up in the shop and glad I did. I bought a plate for £10 with different varieties of Baklava to try and honestly all are delicious. Freshly prepared crispy pastry with balanced sugar syrup and lots of nuts. They prepare on spot kunafa too. If we were not so full after dinner we would try it and their icecream. They should work a bit on its decor it would lift up.

Beautiful decorated and right in the high street, for the first time I tried Syrian ice cream it was delicious, excellently served. After I paid for my dessert I was given a free sweet for my long journey back to England where I work. Thank you for your hospitality!

Bought cakes for birthday but the cake were so stale and and dry, we couldn't eat it and had to bin it! The cakes must had been in there for days! Weeks.

This is by far the best kunafa I've had since Middle East. Syrian Kunafa is fantastic, not too greasy, not too sugary. I take my kunafa with syrup on the side. The cheese is so rich and well balanced between the two layers of vermicelli! It's going to be my go-to place for kunafa from here onward.

Best customer service, really good food

If you know what your looking for this places is great to get it and go. However don't bother stay honestly to eat in. The music was deafening the poor waiter had too many tables to attend to and the dessert I had was wayyy too rich. I've had middle eastern desserts before however this time the syrup was so sweet I felt like throwing up. It simply tries to do too much. Also £6 a dessert is crazy expensive.

Al kunafa was soooo good so I gad yo come again the next day to have more. That’s a lie I actually had two more the next day 😂😅 was worth ruining my diet for. The owner and everyone was working there were very kind and made me feel welcomed. Will definitely go there again when am in Cardiff 👌🏼

The Karak (Adani) tea is heavier on the spices and the taste of the actual brewed tea flavor is not as prevalent. Do yourself a favor and try out the kunafah.

Regularly visit here, customer service is great and there is a wide choice of sweets. Love that they also do fresh juices. Some of the desserts I find sweet for myself but I find perfect for sharing. Will continue to support. Thanks :)

Great assortment and selection of Arabic sweets/desserts and ice creams. Wide variety of juices available. Lastly, their karak Tea is amazing. Nice seating arrangement and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Every single item looks too good to eat. The kanafe was divine.

The Kunefe was okay, the pastries good, ice cream was meh, but the milkshakes and service terrible. Whilst we understand that establishments can get it wrong due to many reasons, what really let the place down was the abhorrent attitude of the manager. While the food was average, I was appalled by the manager’s behaviour towards his staff and to his customers. We witnessed the manager demean and berate a particular staff member in front of customers. This behaviour is unacceptable and made me feel uncomfortable as a customer. Furthermore, the manager was very hostile and defensive towards his customers. We advised some of our order was subpar, at which point he was being stubborn, loud and rude. This was infront of our young children who were getting anxious about the whole thing, as we went there specifically for them. This behaviour is not acceptable and shows a lack of respect towards customers. Overall, I was disappointed with the consistently poor quality of service and the owner's treatment of his staff. Based on my experience, I would advise others to avoid this place. It's essential to support businesses that treat their staff with respect and provide a welcoming environment for customers.

Having seen friendly people buzzing around this smart shop/cafe late in the evening, I called here for a morning break. The shop is spotless and in the little cafe at the back I succumbed to chocolate baklava fingers and Arabic red tea. I loved both and hope to visit again not least because of the friendly welcome.

The staff had very bad attitude, no thank you and please. They don't clean the tables after costumers. If you want to make the most of your trip to Cardiff don't visit city road.

I loved trying the booza ice cream with pistachios and the baklava however one large pierce of baklava and one portion of ice cream came to over £10 which looking back seems a bit pricey.

The baklava at Al-Sham is the best we have eaten even including on travels to Turkey and Greece. Everything is fresh and appetising and the staff take great pride (rightly so) in their work. Everyone is friendly and no order is too small.

Stopped by to have Kunefe and mint tea. The kunefe was made and cooked after order. The kunefe was served hot, sweet, slightly fragrant and thoroughly enjoyable desert snack with mint tea.

An absolute gem in Cardiff, amazing desserts, great hot drinks from mint tea, coffee, and karak chai. Everything is made fresh and on-site. Can't recommend it enough!

I’ve been here a couple times for their Kunafeh and Baklava. I have tried other places in Cardiff for these desserts but none of them are as good as the ones Al Sham has. Truly one of the best dessert places in Cardiff, I even recommend to friends all the time or give them Baklava gifts for birthdays. Everyone should come here!

We went for our 1st visit to this establishment. Pleasantly surprised very impressed by the selection of deserts available. My wife had a coffee which she said was “simply fantastic” and I had a tea. Slightly pricey for the deserts but they were nice indeed.

The pastry is really good, loved the pistacchio ones. Arabic coffee was pretty aromatic, also different. In my opinion just a bit pricey, but would definitely recommend it.

I visited this place today and my mom's 50 quid was taken from her bag by the waitress while she wasn't looking . When asking to see the security footage the manager showed us after the incident not from before. All previous footage was deleted and no apologies or reimbursement was given. Do not come to this place if you want to be robbed .

Me and my family came all the way from Birmingham to try these desserts and it did not disappoint, MashAllah it was delicious and so fresh ! We all tried various things! The service at this place was the best and made our visit to Cardiff a lot better ! The owner was very kind and if u ask nicely he will explain each dessert for you ! Waitress can’t speak English Doesn’t understand when discussing food intolerances Showed clients where all the cakes with nuts were when they said they were allergic. Serious health and safety issues around their ability to tackle food intolerances.

Too bad they really robbed me That's provocative They took me £23 for ICE CREAM and Halawa el-Jibn I felt that I had been robbed and asked them for a bill. They told me that the machine was broken When I got home and searched their website I found out that I only had to pay £9!!! I will tell everyone this frightening and unfortunate thing. Oh my God, this is a very heinous act. Please pay attention. I will file a complaint against them. Popped in here for some dessert after eating a meal elsewhere. The decor is beautiful, the cakes and baklava all look amazing and the staff are friendly and attentive. We felt really welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our cakes and drinks. We will definitely return for more tasty treats.
