The best ever south indian food I had in the UK. By the time I came all the way from Stoke-On-Trent to have food from ikkaayees, it was closing time. The meaning of customer service, this is it, while cleaning, they set a table in a corner and they made delicious food. That too their new dish "Ilanir Chicken Curry". If you are visiting Liverpool for having kerala food, the best option is Ikkayees. Thank you ❤️

For a company that takes pride in being socially conscious I'm really disappointed with my visit this evening. I spotted a free table and came in out the cold after a very difficult day. I was told that there was no space, despite the free table with four seats. I waited outside for 30 minutes and the table remained unoccupied and was never taken. No more customers arrived. So I can only assume that they didn't want the custom of a single person when they "might" get a table of four, but I see no policy for minimum group size. Really disappointing. Takes the shine of this place and I can no longer recommend it.

Food is not sooo nice nowadays from Ikkayees. Even the restaurant start preparing the order after an half an hour from the ordered time. This is not great. Nowadays since for this restaurant Just Eats has the code to be said for delivery confirmation, it is great as I had bad experience previously of not getting the order and now it is rectified. I am not okay with the quality of the food as in not the cleanliness but taste from Ikkayees. The order time and the preparing start time is huge.

After arriving in Liverpool from India and craving a taste of home, I finally found a spot that served authentic Indian cuisine. I hadn’t eaten Indian food in six days, so I was eagerly anticipating this meal—and it did not disappoint! The food was simply amazing, full of flavor and true to the traditional spices. Each dish was well-prepared, from the fragrant biryani to the rich curries, reminding me of home with every bite. The staff was equally exceptional—warm, friendly, and attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a slice of India in Liverpool!

Visited the restaurant recently and was highly disappointed with the deterioration in the quality of food. The pepper beef curry was undercooked to a point where the beef was not even tearing apart. The parotta was dry and very oily. The chicken in the kothu parotta was hard and had bones in it. This was not the experience I hoped for considering the first time I visited the restaurant the food was really good.

Ikayees in Liverpool offers an exceptional dining experience, thanks in large part to Shamsu and the other host (forgot to get her name) , the welcoming hosts who makes every guest feel right at home. Their attentive service and genuine hospitality set the stage for a memorable meal. The star of the menu is undoubtedly the Kozhikoden Dum Biryani. The beef dry fry along with it was spot on perfect. Since the meal was spectacular decided to have a dessert, (their palada payasam) as a takeaway, as I didn't have any space to fit anything more in my stomach and oh my god it was beautiful, took me straight back to Kerala. If you're looking for an authentic and satisfying Indian dining experience, Ikayees is a must-visit in Liverpool and don't forget to ask for Shamsu when you're there. The restaurant is amazing! We went for our dinner. We had pulinji chicken and habibi fish for starters. I would rate 4.5/5 for pulinji chicken and 4/5 for habibi fish. Pulinji chicken had a good taste with the tangy flavour. Habibi fish taste was absolutely amazing but price is high. Must try would be the aapam and king prawn mango curry! Such a stunner! Well cooked and tasted delicious. We didn’t try beef items. The people here were friendly. It took some long time for the food to come once ordered. Other than that, I would give 9.5/10 for this place! Chicken kothu was very good in taste.

There weren’t many people still it took them 20 mins to give me menu. I asked for water but the guy wasn’t paying attention and I got the water for 30 mins after asking again. I ordered paneer tikka - tasteless, I ordered kadai paneer - the red chili was so much that other tastes were messed up, and I also ordered garlic naan and it was fully burner. My love for curries is in my DNA. I set up a Curry Club at work and have been to over 50 restaurants in Staffordshire alone. Cannock, where I’m from, is a curry heartland with many fine restaurants that have lasted the test of time, showcasing the best of South & North India, Bangladesh, Kashmir, Nepal, and modern, fusion dishes. My search for great curries has taken me far and wide. I’ve been to London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Cardiff, Birmingham’s Balti Triangle, Bradford’s Karachi, Glasgow’s oldest & finest Koh I Noor. I have eaten curries championed by my heroes Rick Stein, Dan Toombs, Si King & Dave Myers (RIP). The Chicken Karahi I had here is the best of them all. Ikkayees haven’t just set the bar high, they’ve blown it through the roof. The restaurant is small & minimalist, which actually got my hopes up. In my experience, small & minimal leads to quality over quantity and tend to be places that let the food do the talking (and they do!) Was greeted by name by very friendly staff and was accommodated easily despite being early. I’d recommend booking ahead. Papadams and chutney tray to get the ball rolling. Another early sign of quality and the quality yet to come. Chutneys and pickles take time to make. I’ve done them at home to amazing results. They often beat restaurant quality due to the need to make lots and make them quickly. Mango chutney was smooth and tangy. I’d love their recipe for their lime pickle. It’s definitely a house special. Blended, rather than chunky, the lime is definitely mixed with chillies and spices, maybe some naga pickle. Couldn’t place all the flavours but there’s a lot going on and well worth trying. The chips came before the mains and were gone before the mains. I used them as extra dipping after the papadams were demolished. Perfectly salted. Then the mains, served with naans. We ordered Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Massala & Chicken Karahi. They all looked amazing, especially the Butter Chicken & Chicken Karahi. The chicken was so tender, the texture was perfect - lovely thick sauce in the Karahi. Lots of meat in the dish, spiced to perfection. I asked for mine hot, and this was done subtly, through delicate uses of spices, rather than just whacking in more cayenne pepper or powder. The food sent me on a journey through memory lane as I wondered if I’d ever had one this good before. My daughter asked, “Are you ok dad? Your eyes are watering.” It wasn’t because it was too hot. I was having a moment. I’ve searched high and low for the perfect curry. And I’d just found it.

Dining at Ikayees, a gem specialising in authentic Kerala cuisine, and I must say, it was an extraordinary culinary journey. Each dish was a masterful blend of flavours and spices, reflecting the rich culinary heritage of Kerala. Firstly, King Fish Mango Curry, a dish that truly stands out, my personal favourite. The tender king fish was perfectly cooked, with the tangy mango adding a delightful contrast to the rich, spicy gravy. The balance of flavours was impeccable, with the sweetness of the mango perfectly complementing the heat of the spices. Next, we savoured the Kerala Beef Ularthiyathu (Coconut Infused), new to the menu. This dish was a revelation, with succulent pieces of beef marinated in a medley of spices and slow-cooked to perfection. The infusion of coconut added a subtle sweetness that elevated the dish, making each bite an explosion of flavour. The Chicken Kappa Biriyani was another highlight of our meal. The combination of tender chicken and mashed tapioca (kappa) was unique and flavourful. The spices were well-balanced, creating a harmonious blend that was both comforting and exciting. Each mouthful was a testament to the chef's skill in marrying traditional Kerala flavours with innovative techniques. To accompany these dishes, we had Appam, which were soft, fluffy, and slightly crispy at the edges. They were the perfect vehicle to soak up the delicious gravies and curries, enhancing the overall dining experience. To wash it all down, we enjoyed a refreshing Mango Lassi. The lassi was smooth, creamy, and had just the right amount of sweetness and tangy. It was the perfect way to cleanse the palate and cool down after indulging in the spicy dishes. Overall, Ikayees delivered an exceptional dining experience, with each dish showcasing the vibrant and diverse flavours of Kerala cuisine. The skilful use of spices and fresh ingredients, combined with the warm and inviting atmosphere, made our visit truly memorable. I highly recommend Ikayees to anyone looking to experience authentic Kerala flavours in all their glory.

My partner worked with Nisha when she was a barrister. The legal professions loss is our gain. Mowgli is fantastic. It always has been. It's becoming a bigger chain across the UK but the Liverpool venues have always maintained their intimate, local eatery vibe. The food is always unbelievably good. It's not some ghee soaked stodge from some curry place where everything comes out looking and tasting the same regardless of what you order. Each dish is absolutely unique and has so much depth that James Cameron is trying to dive it in his sub. Nothing is going to blow your head off with spice, but it may ruin Indian cuisine for you. Nowhere comes close. Personal favourites are the Angry Bird, Bunny Chow and Temple Dahl. If it was medically possible to replace my blood with Temple Dahl, I would. We've tried the whole menu and found nothing we don't like. The house slaw is like being high-fived by the Incredible Hulk. It's amazing. We've gotten all the ruddy cookbooks, and again, nothing we don't like. Its delicious, its priced nicely, swings make you feel drunk—whats not to love?

Very nice traditional large Indian restaurant. Didn’t book (approx 8pm) but got seated in one of their large booths. Fresh popadoms, dips and drinks served before we ordered the main meal. First class food, large portions, good service and because the booths are large, plenty of space. We were on a city break and so glad we opted for this place. Good prices too.
