There was a lot of food, but it was uncomfortable because they kept asking if I needed anything more.

Mushroom pasta was flavourless it’s just cream and mushrooms the potatoes side with the breaded chicken were too old and dry. I tried peppe at Kingston and I had exactly the same mushrooms pasta and it was soo good

An amazing experience, wonderfully hosted by the attentive and friendly staff. The dietary needs of our party were fully catered for and the dishes were full of flavour. The portions are big, fantastic value, and the decor has a very homely vibe. A great place to bring family and friends, highly recommended!

I highly recommend this place! Every time I've passed by, it's always bustling with people, which piqued my curiosity and interest. Today, we decided to pop in for lunch. The staff were exceptionally courteous. We ordered calamari, lasagne, seafood pasta, and garlic bread, and I must say, the food was absolutely delightful. The calamari, in particular, was a hit – I would urge everyone to give it a try!

Took over 2hrs hours for our cold food to arrive. Put Cheese on my partners diner when she said no cheese. Had the cheek to try and add 20% service charge. The worst. This place use to he great under the old management.

An old favourite, never lets you down. Another lovely meal, great atmosphere and service responsive to every need (two milks for the tea!). Even the defiant child who refused everything on the menu was eventually won over and left happy.

Disappointing. Service started off well but got worse as the meal went on to the point we gave up on ordering a sweet. Food was ok. Wouldn’t bother going back a 2nd time.

We have been going to Al Forno for many years and have never been less than completely satisfied with both the food and service, a special mention to Fabrizio the manager,a really friendly guy. Ignore the very few negative reviews,go along and try it for yourself you won't be disappointed.

What a horrible experience we had since our last visit in 2021. We have been regular customers for years, and we were really looking forward to come back after since the pandemic. First, service was the worst. We were rushed and not attended enough throughout the evening. We try to order something, and midway through the order, the waitress decides to just leave the table leaving us with outstanding requests. This kept happening during the whole dinner. Second, the tagliolini with truffle were so tasteless and bland, I had to keep adding salt, pepper, chilli olive oil just to get some taste out of it so I can finish my plate. And I am usually not a fussy eater. The pasta itself was undercooked and very doughy/chewy, too. We ordered extra pepperoni on our pizza, and in our opinion, there was no visible difference to the amount of salami put on it. What came out to us is what it would normally would've come out with. Thirdly, I ordered a tiramisu which I was really looking forward to, given all the experinece so far, that this will wash all the bad away. How wrong was I... The tiramisu was nothing short of a small whiskey size glass stuffed with layer of lady fingers and a layer of mascarpone with just a shy amount of sprinkled cocoa on top. Upon looking closely at the so-called tiramisu dessert, I noticed that the lady fingers were so dry and not soaked in coffee at all. I decided that I won't be having this and wished to return it. When we received the bill and after we paid for everything we had but the tiramisu, we were asked by our waiter how our food was. So we though, oh, someone actually cares and wants to know, how nice. Little did we know that no one actually cared, and the only reason we were asked this was so that we can be told by the Manager how wrong we are, how we have no right to complain about the food or the service, how as a goodwill gesture we weren't charged 2 pounds for the extra pepperoni (which on the contrary was on the bill, and we paid for with no objections), how the Manager is sick of customers telling them how Italian food should or should not be, how we have no right to object or say anything negatively about their precious chef's dishes, how we don't understand nothing, etc. In conclusion, and after reading through previous reviews too, I can confidently say that this seems to not have been nor will be the first or last case. There seems to be a clear pattern and common complaints about same thing, but that no one will ever take that constructive feedback away and try to improve. Needless to say after years of supporting this local business, we will no longer be returning. Not just for the terrible food experience, but more so for the horrible customer service we received from the Manager.

Very impressed with this place. I hadn't been here for years but I shall certainly be returning soon. Good, hearty Italian cuisine and the portions are very generous. The staff are welcoming and very cheerful.

I recently tried 'Tagliolini Nordic'. I don't know why the name is Nordic. So, while ordering the food, I was a bit confused. There were pork and mushrooms in a creamy sauce. It was savoury as I think. If they offered more funghi options, it would be perfection! BTW I'm thinking of revisiting here!

My daughter chose this restaurant very last minute. They were able to accommodate us for 8pm which was perfect. I never leave a tip but on this occasion I did because of the great accommodating experience, great food, and wonderful staff I can not fault this restaurant. If you want great service and food come here. They were so busy zooming up and down, but they still had time and thought of their customers. We didn’t ask or tell them it was my daughters 18th birthday but they brought over a tiramisu cake with candle and sang her happy birthday with music. Was totally unexpected and really made her night special. You can’t get a better experience in my opinion then Al fornos

Food was good but service a lot to be desired, we waited nearly an hour for our starter and almost another before our main course arrived, we even cleared our plates from the table ourselves as we got fed up sitting with dirty plates in front of us, I know they were busy but not our problem, its a shame as the food was good when it arrived but we wont be going back

Celebrated my 60th birthday with some friends here and we had a really nice time. It was a Saturday night so the restaurant was busy but somehow not too noisy which was great.

Have been coming here regularly for the past 10 years and the standard has remained high throughout. Just a lovely place to relax and enjoy great food and drink at sensible prices. Kudos to Fabrizzio and the team

Great family run restaurant with many years experience, best restaurant in New Malden

We arrived at 12pm and there was only one table occupied (not busy at all), we sat at the table and we're served by a very unhappy waiter. We proceed to order our drinks and food and had to wait 20 minutes for a garlic bread that we ordered for starter and another 10 for the main course, despite the fact that there was only one other table occupied. To make matters worse a table with people that arrived after us ordered garlic bread for starter as well was served before us all because they seemed to know the manager and were there chatting and laughing with him (nothing against that but I don't think it's fair/professional that they are served before people that have arrived before and have been waiting for longer). Very disappointed!

I did a deliveroo and I wasn’t expecting the Calzone that arrived. It was basically a half Pizza with toppings. They should’ve put a better description of their version of Calzone. Too pricy and not a good Calzone. I would have out 0 star but I can’t.

Lovely restaurant in the heart of New Malden. A Frank Sinatra tribute act was singing during our dinner service & he was really good. Knew how to get the crowd singing & dancing along. The food choices were so good, it was difficult to choose what to eat! I opted for the chilli prawns to start with lamb shank as a main. Both dishes were flavoursome & presented well.

Although the service was slow, I must admit, it was very,very busy. The place was full, and people were waiting to be seated. A little bit loud for my liking, but you could still hear yourself. The food was fantastic, really tasty. Book before you go.

Lovely food and nice relaxed atmosphere

Hands down one of the best Italian places in London & Surrey I've been to. The starters, especially the mussels aka Cozze Marinara, come in a good size and are quite tasty. The pasta dishes, especially the 2 seafood pasta dishes, are simply delicious and quite filling, yet more affordable than a few of the Italian restaurant chains around, and the desserts are equally wonderful. The staff are quite jovial and make me feel at home, and they usually deliver the food at a timely manner. Overall, an outstanding place that I keep coming back to!

I don't normally do reviews but it was such a welcome return to what used to be our "local". We had driven down from Gloucestershire to visit family, so have been more used to open fields than wonderful restaurants! As we didn't have a lot of time and had to get back on the road, we had the hearty Risotto boscola (I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling!) it was super tasty and such a generous sized portion, perfect for our teen boy! The recommendation of the Italian bubbles marked such a special day. Thank you team Al Forno! We'll be back again soon!

Absolutely brilliant and delicious Food the managers/owners are first class

We as a family have been using this restaurant for many years but as of tonight not any more. My husband and son ordered starters and the main meal arrives 90 minutes after our arrival , which was ok because Fabrizio explained that he was two staff down and the restaurant was very busy. We have been coming here for years so no pressure. We decided to just go with the night.It was my birthday after all. Sadly when my plate was put in front of me, a beautiful looking Sea Bass, was also accompanied by a very distinctive black HAIR. I called Fabrizio over as discreetly as possible, there was a large table of people there and I didn't want them to see and hear what had happened. He took my plate away asking me if I wanted anything else. This is where I should have seen the warning signs. No apology. ....Sadly I did not. We had waited so long for our main course and my husband and son had their food in front of them plus I had gone off the idea of fish ( personally I could have left then but....) so I decided on a simple Bruschetta of mozzarella and tomatoes so I could eat something and my family would not feel ill at ease while eating theirs. Quick ( less than an hour) easy and hair free. This is my birthday for goodness sake, my day had been great until now and things happen so I was willing to overlook the hiccup. I didn't want to cause a fuss which would spoil my day but most of all the precious time with my family so I decided to go with the flow. My husband and son ordered dessert I didn't. The birthday music started and I assumed it was for the large table, they were constantly wishing someone a Happy birthday and generally having a great time. No it was for me. One scoop of ice cream with chocolate sauce plus a candle. Stay with me on this. The bill arrived. The Sea Bass was crossed off BUT I was charged £8.50 for the Bruschetta. The bill came to over £120. What upset me was the fact I had been charged for the Bruschetta. I called Fabrizio over and asked why he charged me for the bruschetta, (£8.50) I only ordered this because of the hair on my fish plate which I obviously could not eat! He told me he did not charge for the Bass, as there was a line drawn through this on the bill as though I should be pleased! Are you serious!! I would have thought he would be grateful the other diners had not seen or heard what had happened to me, but I did not expect him to charge me for something I was forced to order so that I did not sit at a table with my family enjoying their food with nothing in front of me which would have made them feel very uncomfortable. I would have thought at least this would have been free. I didn't even want it in the first place, but It was the only thing on the starter menu that looked quick to make. Fabrizio kept smiling all the way through while telling me he did not charge for the Sea Bass with the hair. Then you had the cheek to tell me you gave me an ice cream!!! What planet are you on. I am sorry Fabrizio but this is not an acceptable way to treat customers, especially those who tried to save your reputation in front of a busy restaurant. What a disgraceful way to behave. I hope you are ashamed of yourself. You are a disgrace. You do not deserve customers who try to help you when you obviously don't care about anything except the money you can charge. We have since seen your reviews..... they are not good. We have never felt the need to read them, after all we have been going into your restaurant for years.... but that was our mistake, one we will not make again. This has to be the worst restaurant we have ever been to. If you treat an incident like this so lightly it makes you wonder how much with regard to customer hygiene has been overlooked.

I am quite disappointed from the start, trying to book a table, but there is no online facility for this, I am calling but the person on the other side tells one moment and put me on hold for 10 min and then hangs up, why would bother to come at all!

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere

We popped in on a busy night without a reservation and they worked hard to accomodate us. It was a music themed night with a swing singer - pretty good. Food was pretty average for a London italian, but it was priced reasonably. The waiting staff were attentive but lack of English meant communication was laboured. I would return if I was in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Really enjoyed the visit to Al Forno. Food was rather nice. Probably one of the better Italian restaurants near by. The interior and feel of the restaurant was cosy and warm. Had a very homely vibe. Slight mishap; Restraunt doesn't use till printed itemised receipts, nearly got overcharged by £41... they corrected it rather quickly. But shouldn't have happened.

I always love eating here. The food is always bang on, wine is spot one, waitress and waiters are so friendly and charming. The Manager Frabizio runs a really good service. Well done team Al Forno.

I visited with my husband and an old friend, who is a regular in the restaurant. We sat down, and were offered water and menus. No rush, just a simple smile when staff walked past. We decided on our main courses, mine was a chicken dish with a creamy Gorgonzola sauce - I’m not a cheese fan but my husband said it was good, so I tried it - great choice, I skipped the funghi, mushrooms but that was personal choice. My treat was gelati, heaven in a glass! The guys had profiteroles and banoffee pie - each yo their ow . Great service, great food and I can’t wait to go back

Awesome find along New Malden High Street! Went for Sunday lunch and we loved all our dishes.

Thursday 15 of December 5 of us had a wonderful evening with great food and faultless service.... The Atmosphere that evening was as authentic as an Italian restaurant as it can get. I actually felt as I was in Italy 🇮🇹..... On Ray Lowe (entertainer) incredibly talented with great crowd interaction...... He made the evening complete.... Well done to everyone involved 👋👋👋

Just visited with my wife to this little Italian restaurant today.this Italian gem serves the best food and friendly services that I have ever been compared with others.the seafood pasta is brilliant and absolutely delicious.I urge all food critics to go and try out this place.you won’t be disappointed.brilliant food and services.very nice owner and friendly.this place in my opinion deserves a mitchellin star for the quality of food and service.will definitely return again.
